Re: PS Plus, PS Now Members Will Be Upgraded to PS Plus Premium for the Duration of Their Longest Subscription

ThorsHammer

Pretty annoying, i actually wanted to renew my subscription for a month to finish a couple games in the backlog that will be deleted mid May and it keeps coming up with errors...wonder if there related?
UPDATE: yep, thats confirmed it. Thats extremly irratating considering i wasnt planning on stacking, just renewing for a month so i can beat some of the titles leaving mid May.

Moved back to this one and was able to wrap the fourth biome without much stress. Now the fifth enviroment is really kicking my ass. At least theres no boss in it, but yh...tough. The light is at the the end of tunnel, I'm in the last quarter, hopefully I can finish this week, as naive as that sounds.

PC Game Pass
Outriders
Convinced a mate to co op this with me and what a blast. Love the mechanics and the tough but fair action thats like Gears of War mixed with Infamous. Really enjoying the grind so far, although at the halfway point i worry the campaign will get repetitive, for now, im having a ton fun.

Quest 2
Tetris Effect
Gave this one a random spin and its a really addictive twist on an age old formula. Its really cool how theyve taken the aesthetics of a rhythem game and combined it with tetris without comprimising its core appeal...in fact it adds to it more then anything.

Re: Video: Is Live Service Really the Way Forward for PlayStation?

ThorsHammer

Why cant they do both? I love Sony's single player triple-A experiences, in fact its my favorite type of game experience, which is why ive invested in their consoles since PS2. I dont think theres a risk of them abandoning these trademark games just because they want to invest in live service. Im not into live service games but theres no doubt they can be very successful, and if Sony is succesful with it, then it helps them to prosper and create the type of experiences i prefer to play. They've never said they would abandoned what their championed for...in fact , why on earth would they? Its not a case of one over the other, why are we pretending like it is?

@misak192 if your looking for something completly nuts and criminally overlooked to play on PS NOW, give Asuras Wrath a spin. Its kind of like Dragon Ball Z meets Heavy Rain. Its one of a kind, the first 10 mins will let you know if your onboard for it or not, so worth a look if your bored this weekend.

Destiny 2
After writting this one off at launch, a mate of mine convinced me to get back in. We've been doing Witch Queen expansion on Legendary and its actually a blast...for the first time im really enjoying Destiny. If your thinking about giving it a go, nows a good time (plot doesnt really matter tbh) but it ll help if you have someone to show you the ropes or it can be confusing.

Returnal
Beat third biome last week and have been dragging my feet about returning (pun intended). Tbh doing that third area had me close to quitting...having to respec your character, every single restart is a pain, and this is from a Souls vetrean, who also loved The Persistence and Rogue Legacy etc. Love the gameplay and weird plot, just as a fulltime working dad, am tired of 40 mins progress being tossed away cause of one mistake.

Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy
Finished the first this week, will check the second. Really nice switch your brain off games, collect and explore and chill. Plus really intresting seeing Insomniacs beginings.

PC Game Pass
Aliens: Fireteam
Playing a match here and there. Am a diehard aliens fan so the novelty factor gives this lots of points, however the content is pretty bare, and after i give all the main missons a go, i dont see much point in returning.

The Forgotten City
Very cool this one. Witty dialogue, clever twists and great premise. Shows 12 Minutes how to do this timeloop concept properly.

This one has got me hooked finally. I'm a Souls fan through and through so took some adjusting to this one's specific tough but fair ruleset. Just finished the first boss and biome. The constant upgrade grind can get exhausting, but the action, atomsphere and odd plotline keep me coming back.

PC Game Pass

On the final chapter(s), what an awesome hidden gem. Great story threads, it plays like a comedic Black Mirror, with snappy dialogue and likeable characters. Ive heard the ending peters out, but ive really enjoyed so far. If you like cinematic narrative games...this is probably one of the best in my book.

Quest 2
Half-Life: Alyx
Recently sorted my Airlink issues, so am playing this one wireless via the headset and...wow. I dont know what i can say that hasnt been said before. Its an absolute masterpiece, not just the best VR game made but one of the best games made, full stop. So happy to get to play a Valve campaign game again, they always have a great balance of pacing, plot and keeping the action fresh and evolving.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Tiny Tina's Wonderlands?

ThorsHammer

Used to be big on Borderlands but am pretty burnt out on the franchise, it peaked at Borderlands 2 and I've always regreted returning since (and giving Randy Pitchford my money). The VR port was refreshing though, if they brought no 3 or this new one to a headset...I'd buy it.

Been burning through the PS5 exclusives ive been accumelating in sales over the year, just wrapped Miles Morales and started this one last night. These sortve games can get me hooked easily but its early days at the moment, only did about an hour and am still figuring out the loop and mechanics.

PC Game Pass
Injustice 2
Im not a fighting game fan but i always play Netherrealm games for their awesome cinematic campaigns, this one is no exception, might be there biggest most blockbuster campaign yet and love that they go even crazier with the alt timeline events then the first game.

Quest 2
Defector
Finally sorted out my PCVR issues so catching up on Rift exclusives. Just burned through Insomniac's fantastic Edge of Nowhere, now im checking out Twisted Pixel's spy action game. It feels sortve like Oculus' answer to Blood and Truth, but leans more into the wacky Bond elements. Tons of fun so far, and very underrated.

Re: There's a Dino Crisis in Capcom's Exoprimal on PS5, PS4

ThorsHammer

Throughout the trailer (espcially from the use of the REngine) i swore it was going to reveal as a weird Dino Crisis reboot...alas, it wasnt and am happy it wasnt, this looks fun but if their going to bring back the IP it has to be a creepy and tense formula = RE with dinos.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 416

I bought Elden Ring this week but only briefly played, im diehard From Software fan but as soon as i hit the open world it turned me off. I had the same intial reaction with Seikiro but ended up loving it, so will return but got distracted by an amazing game i never finished that is leaving Game Pass in a week:

Nier Automata
Burned through Route A this week and loved it. Asides from some minor pretentious moments, it has a haunting world, involving story and incrediable incrediable combat. Am burning through Route B now n its abit...meh. Sortve like if u had to replay RE4 as Ashley...its an intresting idea but couldve been streamlined a bit. Trying to get through it and Route C (the proper story continuation) before it leaves Game Pass next week. Elden Ring will have to wait!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend - Issue 415

ThorsHammer

@thefourfoldroot thats fair enough if its not ur style, at least u gave them a go. Love Astro Bot too, prob best 3d platformer since Banjo Kaazoie. Moss was great, but Paper Beast sortve petered out for me in the last hr. Luckys Tale is pretty good 3d platformer if ur looking for more in the genre, i believe its been ported to psvr by now...i played it on quest 2.

This week its been all about:
PS5
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
What a gorgeous game, aweome game...prob best out the franchise. Ive alway enjoyed the series, and have played nearly all of them, but always forgot about them quick too (doesnt help that i did them in random order over 2 decades). this is a slick, impressive spin on the formula with a more intresting plot. Once i get hooked on bolts and upgrades, i cant play anything else...will wrap this then pick up Elden Rings in the new week.

Demon Souls
Intially breezed through this one four months ago but then got my hand in cast and couldnt play - i was up to maneater boss.
Now fully recovered this week i went back in...and it kicked my ass for 2 days straight. Then the game clicked again, i soloed the maneater and old hero in an hour, now just struggling with the world 5 swamp, but looking to start wrapping this one up before Elden Ring in the new week.
I struggled with this one back on the PS3 back in the day n cheesed through most of it with a magic build. That got me hooked on Soulsborne games and ive played everything else with melee builds instead. Its a great feeling returning to this cult classic and the remake gets rid of the frustrating jank the original had.

Been playing this one on my mobile. Pretty fun narrative story, love the characters and the london setting.

Switch
Mario Cart 8
You can never go wrong with some mario cart. Just picked it up on feb sale (handed in those points i was storing). Not groundbreaking but awesome nontheless, bring on the dlc!
