Re: Physical Backers of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Hit with Unexpected Shipping Costs

@dskatter Please show me in the relevant publisher TOS where a publisher said they can never revoke a licence from a disc. Nearly every single disc sold requires either a partial or full download of software via an internet connection. Sure you can never log into PSN via the internet and stay offline forever with just the 1.0 build of the game forever but the majority of players wouldn't do that unless they had no access to internet.

As soon as you connect the the PSN Sony have to ability to even Kill-switch a game mid game (Stellar Blade demo) should they choose too. I'm not saying they 100% will, but they 100% can if they wanted to for licencing reasons.

If you got a copy of The Crew on disc that will work on my PS5 please show me where this is.

It actually blows my mind you are calling me out for misinformation, when the information about the upcoming issue of game preservation is now being widely talked about.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 PS5 Patch 1.060 Isn't the Update You're Waiting For

darylb24

I actually enjoyed DD2 a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't play the first game and I had been smart by doing a but of pre purchase research on the single save mechanic, and the way that travel is intended in the game. I spent about 70 hours with the game and yes I did have some greievnces with it but overall I found it to be a very solid 8/10.

One game I have found to be very outdated - even more so and the biggest disappointment is Rise of The Ronin.

Without sounding too mean Rise of the Ronin is basically what GOT would look like if it was made by Xbox. It has outdated Ubisoft style fetch quests and PS4 graphics and performance. Rise of the Ronin is simply not of the quality an SIE published game should have.

The overall game has been decent but I find myself forcing myself through the rest of the story to get to the end. Just my subjective opinion of course but a counter balance to those who may favour this game over DD2.

Re: Two Star Wars Outlaws Expansions Will Arrive After PS5 Launch

darylb24

Ubisoft at the moment appear smart launching the game late August. June - Sept is usually a bit of a drought for games so I think the day one launch sales will actually be quite high despite their known discount practices which can start anywhere from 4-8 weeks after launch.

The only thing that could knock strong day sales of course is another huge game coming out the same time. I do feel like we won't get that situation until 2025 with the majority of the big stuff out before June (No AAA Sony games, GTA 6 or Persona 6 this year).

This mass market appeal of this game could may it a GOTY contender if it reviews well.

Re: Sea of Thieves Reportedly a 'Key Test' for More Xbox Games on PS5

Microsoft always follow the money, and there is plenty on money to be had from PS and Nintendo players. The numbers don't lie. It is a smart move from the MS gaming division. I'm grateful I don't restrict myself to one console and enjoy all of them. I feel for those "fans" that do.

Consoles won't exist in 15 years time but I am pretty sure the MS gaming division will.

Re: Tales of Kenzera: ZAU Also a Day One PS Plus Extra Game, Out 23rd April

darylb24

Based on the pre order rankings at least for Zau, putting onto PS Plus and getting that income is probably the best move. In a strong start to gaming in 2024 I could see this game getting lost on the PS store. This will find a bigger audience on PS Plus. I have heard lots of good things about Dave the Diver from Switch players and that seems to be a good addition.

Re: Unicorn Overlord Sales Top Half a Million, Could Be Vanillaware's Fastest Selling Game

darylb24

I got it downloaded but I have only managed to play about 5 hours so far. You have to grind a bit with the side content to ensure you are the right level for the main quests. Right now DD2 and Rise of the Ronin are taking up most of my time. I can imagine with the other upcoming games I might not finish this one until the summer along with P3R.

Hopefully June - Aug in 2024 is merciful on us with backlogs. Usually it's the less desirable games that come out during this time so I really hope Star Wars Outlaws is a September onwards launch. (I don't mind games like saints row coming out haha).

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dragon's Dogma 2?

darylb24

I love it. Nearly 50 hours in it has been outstanding. Only a few minor technical issues have stopped this from being what I would regard as the perfect game for me. I am enjoying it a lot more than Rise of The Ronin which I picked up the same day.

I end up having play sessions of 5-6 hours each time and the time just flies by. That's why I'd rate it 10/10 for myself.

Re: Not Everyone Is in Love with Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5

darylb24

After 30 hours with lots left to do I can safely say I really love the game.

I also hated BG3 and quit after 20 hours. Both games are great, we all just have different tastes. What matters is what you enjoy, and understanding what that is through learned experiences.

I know for western games I prefer action and for JRPG's/Most eastern games I much prefer turn based combat as an example. Occasionally the 10/10 reviews get the better of me (BG3) but you should always follow your gut on what you know you'll like.

Re: Jim Ryan Leaves PlayStation as PS5 Set to Become Its 'Most Successful Console Ever'

darylb24

From a hardware, services (PS Plus/PS Store) and Network point of view it has never been better. The PS5 offers amazing value for money given the tech inside it. The controller is also innovative and very well made.

The software however has been weak. Jim Ryan was trying to play it safe with sequels, remasters and 2P deals. The innovation that brought us the first Uncharted, TLOU, Days Gone, Detroit Become Human, Infamous, GOT etc is really lacking this gen.

The PS5 has so much potential and something like GTA 6 will show what the PS5 can really do. Sadly most devs these days don't have the money or talent to achieve that and look for shortcuts to profit.

Re: The Stellar Blade Playable Demo Is Now Available on PS5

darylb24

I shall check out the demo today. The combat difficulty will decide if I pick this up or not. I already have Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes ready for April 21st.

Edit, the gameplay, the game performance. graphics and story are a lot better than I thought they would be. It has that Sony level of polish. Even the music is great! The combat is pretty hard for someone like myself even on the Story mode but it is enjoyable enough for me to preserve. I was even able to beat a boss in the boss challenge mode on regular difficulty after some practice! I plan on picking the game up on my payday.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch 1.050 Adds Graphics Options, Gameplay Improvements on PS5

darylb24

I tested it in and around the main town, and the capped 30fps mode actually seems worse due to some frame pacing issues. The RT and motion blur off also don't make much difference so I have ended up just keeping the same settings! The game looks a lot flatter and last gen without the RT with makes a significant difference to lighting. I found for me at least the motion blur actually seems to smooth out the variable frame drops better than without. It is good however to have the option for people who get motion sickness or eye problems to turn it off.

They need to work on the CPU side of things with the NPS's to get frames up. Maybe an option to lower the number of non quest based NPC's would be a good start. The more NPC's you interact with as the game goes on, the worse the main city's fps gets.

Re: Judge Rules in Sony's Favour in $500m Controller Comms Lawsuit

darylb24

I hope Sony implements hall effect sensors for their next controller as it almost completely eliminates stick drift. I wonder if they keep the traditional sensors due to cost or purposeful degradation?

To be fair I have been pretty lucky with stick drift. I only got it with one PS4 Dualshock and one Xbox One Controller. Both times I dropped the controller so it was my fault. If you drop the controller on a hard surface it messes up the sensors. I expect the majority of in warranty stick drift is due to people dropping their controllers.

I brought a new Dualsense today as I like to have a back up controller just in case, plus I never keep the same controller more than 2 years (I sell it and get the new one for about half price).
