I brought the game and only played a bit before dropping it for other releases. I started up again recently from the start and it seems to have improved drastically. I'll hold off a bit longer to get the very best version of the game - effectively the finished product.
The only sensible decision WB has made is to immediately move those staff over to the hugely successful Hogwarts Legacy to make a directors cut/sequel support. That game saved WB and allowed WB executives to get away with a $200 million write off as the HP universe stuff has made and will continue to make Billions. Quidditch Champions will be another hit for them. It's a shame they don't respect the DC universe in the same way. A single player Batman game would have made a fortune. How about Batman Legacy? Maybe I should be the executive there haha.
QA are likely to be the first ones to go as they are primarily needed pre launch and work on a temporary contract basis (looking at you Naughty Dog). In a ideal world they wouldn't make such a risky live service can and just cash out
Sitting on the fence with this one. I don't usually buy platformers but this does look pretty fun. I never managed to finish the Astro Bot tech demo as I had a few other games to play at the PS5 launch.
I have learned that time, not money is the most expensive commodity. I don't mind paying a bit more for the choice to play something early (like GTA 6/Persona 6). I can get more money but I'll never get back the lost time waiting for a game I want to go on sale. Nobody is promised the future so I just take life day by day.
Also nobody who wants GTA 6 is waiting for a sale and it that game is $80/£80 the customer will gladly pay up in the tens on millions. Many people have passed (including people I know) waiting for that game.
What I do take an issue with is Sony charging US customers $70 and then forgetting conversion rates exist and charging UK customers £70 when it should be closer to £60.
When Kill the Justice league was given a higher score, I realised I can't take the reviews seriously. This is a 7-8 like most other publications have given. I don't even like star wars that much and what I'm playing through is a 7.5 right now. It's nothing innovative but it's still space related fun that lasts a while.
@BloodyBlact We have Smyths here too but I think the UK market doesn't seem to get enough supply to meet the demand at launch. I'm not sure if they do EIRE stock alongside the UK of if they do it separate now as an EU thing but maybe I need to take a visit to Ireland. My Maternal grandfather is from Dublin but I have never been myself.
@OthmaneAD Unverified that it is digital only, not that the console itself isn't real. Most people know the PS5 pro is a real thing.
Plus the general populace doesn't know this person and it would be naïve to presume that they do even if they are the worlds most trusted video game leaker.
Some weird takes on people who buy things early access and don't wait. Also the logic of waiting is based on the presumption you are owed time you might never get. That is why if I want something I don't wait for it. I can replace lost money but I cannot replace lost time.
Despite almost everyone online saying they won't buy this without a disc drive, it will still sell out within minutes and will be months before supply meets demand (Even at $700). Scalpers will be selling this for $1000 easy as Christmas approaches.
I don't really care about what it looks like or the fact it probably will be the size of the og PS5, I will still try and get one day 1 (will probably struggle though).
If Sony are smart they will use the same disc drive plugin so that you can take a disc drive on the slim and use it on the digital version.
Also at this point the assumption that there is only a digital version is pure speculation based on one unverified (on the full info) source. Who needs logic though that's no fun.
v1.000.002 has been available since the 25th Aug (2 Days prior to launch) so this should only affect a very small amount of players who for some reason are not connected to the internet for a disc based update or have updates turned off.
Got to say this is one of those increasing number of fluff articles I have noticed post pandemic.
The main reason I own an Xbox Series S is for gamepass games I wouldn't otherwise pay for. This game, Forza and MS Flight Sim fit exactly into that category. I get cheap 3 month keys saving around £40 a year on average and probably save £200-£300 on the games. I get my 3P and Sony exclusives on PS5 as the 3P performance is usually better and the Sony single player games are usually higher quality (MS Flight Sim and Forza 5 being the main exceptions)
As someone who enjoys both systems it's a good thing that more people get to play the game. I think I kind of realised exclusive games are pointless now. Playstation has such a strong R&D team that the products are just best in class for the console space. Even if Playstation had zero exclusives it has inheritley better hardware which is innovative. This is why I'd always buy a playstation if I could only buy 1 console.
Like a number of others on here I'm looking forward to play and I think I'll enjoy this based on my previous experiences with ubisoft and star wars games. I'm always up for celebrating single player releases in the age of live service.
Looks like it's going to average out a between a 7 or 8 out of 10 based on the reviews so far and I am happy with that.
One of my 10/10 Ubisoft games I have spent hundreds of hours on is Watch Dogs Legion which got a 76 so I feel like my own personal score may be higher.
I do love a bit of Ubisoft open world action once or twice a year as a mixer for stuff like Persona 5, BG3 and Like a Dragon.
Honestly the lack of romance is slightly disappointing given the setting and the wide vary of social links they are still using. This is basically persona 5 with a different skin and they took the romance out as to try and make this different but what it's going to be is a not as good version of persona 5.
Hopefully they add in more VA too as I noticed quite a bit is missing.
I will still enjoy the game as Atlus make quality games but it's dropped down my priority list.
I don't think this will review anywhere near as strongly as the persona of SMT games either.
@Fiendish-Beaver MS have already confirmed they are making another generation of consoles as you mentioned, plus a potential handheld to sit alongside it. The next gen could launch as early as fall 2025 through to fall 2027 but I think they might go early for the next gen. I can tell Sony want this gen to run until 27/28 because they are still selling tons on PS4 versions of games on top of the PS5 stuff. The PS player base is bigger than ever.
Looking forward to playing tomorrow, i typically enjoy Unisoft games and I enjoy star wars games too. I doubt this will be anyone's GOTY but I think I'll have fun with it until other titles roll around in September/onwards.
I don't know why this is news tbh. Pretty much all of Segas games have Xbox exclusive marketing now. The game still sells well on PS but it has also positivity impacted sales for the Xbox versions.
It's not about getting PS or Nintendo centric gamers to buy the Xbox version, it's about getting the 50 million Plus Xbox player base to buy the Xbox version. Based on UK data I have via work for SEGA games on Xbox the numbers of physical sales on Xbox are up quite a bit.
Not ideal but not the end of the world. As long as I get points for my digital game purchases I'm good. I typically get around £25 out of it plus a number of games that benefit from the PS plus discount and a ton of decent games I don't own to play so I'm good.
It's easy to moan about what they are removing, but this is effectively free credit they are giving out, so naturally they are going to try and balance how you earn points. Id rather have this that earn nothing for my purchases like the other 20+ years I had a playstation. (No previous rewards program in the UK to my knowledge).
It's not a souls like, but the souls like difficulty certainly seems to be there. That will put a lot of casual gamers off. I'll go with Star Wars Outlaws instead as I can customise the difficulty options on that to make the best out of my time which I balance on various things.
I think if it ever did get some difficulty customisation options like Stellar Blade I'd definitely pick it up.
If I had more free time I could nail down the mechanics like I did with various other more difficult games but alas work pays for the things I want.
As long as any gear includes not the further erasure of femininity then that's good. If it's just a bunch of masculine clothing then we are basically getting less options and nobody"wins".
This gen hasn't been particularly great and to be honest the sheer amount of AAA still launching on PS4 in 2024 mean devs have to use up resource on them too. The PS4 is a one of a kind console that is still available to buy brand new and has a player base into the millions still because it is one of the best engineered consoles ever made.
The reality is that until Sony out and out close down the PS4 operations (Which they won't do as it's still profitable) The PS5 will never really reach its full potential like the PS4 did with RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima and TLOU2 at the late stage of the gen.
I think only GTA 5 can save this gen and finally get millions Xbox One and PS4 players (Still playing COD NBA and Football games) to invest in the current gen and fork out the $480 for 5 year old hardware.
It will also push more players who own a PS5 or XSX to get a PS5 Pro for the extra frames/RT/Resolution. That should also help devalue the PS5 slim a bit in sales which may finally see that long awaited price cut to closer £400
Not expecting to hear much from Sony until the prospective showcase in Sept when they should in theory announce the PS5 pro and some game updates. I wouldn't mind getting a release date of DECAPOLICE though.
Not expecting to hear about my top 2 anticipated games, Persona 6 and GTA 6 until December or later.
Should be £50 but Sony refuse to do the whole $/£ conversion to skim profit off UK consumers instead. Most other devs have the decency to do the conversion.
@Northern_munkey I think the concern isn't the souls like game mechanics, more the souls like difficulty (the default will be hard for more casual gamers). When I hear souls like I think a game that is too difficult for me to play because I don't have enough time to learn the mechanics. This 20 hr breeze would turn into a 50-60 slog for me as I play my games on Easy/Normal.
Most Atlus games are designed for multiple playthroughs so I am glad to hear they are adding this feature. If you are someone who is short on gaming time, it's best to give most Atlus games a miss.
@BusyOlf Yes, my point stands that MS make significantly more money my tapping into the Sony and Nintendo player base regardless gamers like MS going multiplat or not. Selling MS games to the huge PS install base is just straight up smart economics for a software specialist company.

I'm not saying it 100% will happen and there will always be the emulation and home brew scene, but sadly publishers are moving into that always online direction. I'm all for physical media and big on it myself so I 100% don't like what's happening and not trying to be mean or cause any disturbance.

Pretty sure case by case basis is exactly what MS are doing.
MS know how to find money. If it doesn't come to them (Xbox) they will go to it (other platforms).
A software company selling software to leverage profit from other companies should come as no suprise to nobody. They are just doing it first.
