As long as any gear includes not the further erasure of femininity then that's good. If it's just a bunch of masculine clothing then we are basically getting less options and nobody"wins".
This gen hasn't been particularly great and to be honest the sheer amount of AAA still launching on PS4 in 2024 mean devs have to use up resource on them too. The PS4 is a one of a kind console that is still available to buy brand new and has a player base into the millions still because it is one of the best engineered consoles ever made.
The reality is that until Sony out and out close down the PS4 operations (Which they won't do as it's still profitable) The PS5 will never really reach its full potential like the PS4 did with RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima and TLOU2 at the late stage of the gen.
I think only GTA 5 can save this gen and finally get millions Xbox One and PS4 players (Still playing COD NBA and Football games) to invest in the current gen and fork out the $480 for 5 year old hardware.
It will also push more players who own a PS5 or XSX to get a PS5 Pro for the extra frames/RT/Resolution. That should also help devalue the PS5 slim a bit in sales which may finally see that long awaited price cut to closer £400
Not expecting to hear much from Sony until the prospective showcase in Sept when they should in theory announce the PS5 pro and some game updates. I wouldn't mind getting a release date of DECAPOLICE though.
Not expecting to hear about my top 2 anticipated games, Persona 6 and GTA 6 until December or later.
Should be £50 but Sony refuse to do the whole $/£ conversion to skim profit off UK consumers instead. Most other devs have the decency to do the conversion.
@Northern_munkey I think the concern isn't the souls like game mechanics, more the souls like difficulty (the default will be hard for more casual gamers). When I hear souls like I think a game that is too difficult for me to play because I don't have enough time to learn the mechanics. This 20 hr breeze would turn into a 50-60 slog for me as I play my games on Easy/Normal.
Most Atlus games are designed for multiple playthroughs so I am glad to hear they are adding this feature. If you are someone who is short on gaming time, it's best to give most Atlus games a miss.
@BusyOlf Yes, my point stands that MS make significantly more money my tapping into the Sony and Nintendo player base regardless gamers like MS going multiplat or not. Selling MS games to the huge PS install base is just straight up smart economics for a software specialist company.
I am disappointed that this update is not more substantial. Hopefully there will be a bigger update later this year with some QoL improvements to the game.
Ubisoft mostly running off other peoples ideas for the last decade. There is only so much they can milk AC and Far Cry before people get fed up. They already killed off Watch Dogs. There examples of true originality but in the last decade they are sparse.
Let's be real this will be a 7/10 or 8/10 game with 9/10 optimisation for consoles. I will probably get this on sale at Christmas, play it once and enjoy it.
17,000 is a £1700 spend on the PSN store (excluding the monthly 50 point promos) if I'm not mistaken? I buy a lot of games per year but even I don't spend that much in a year.
@dskatter I guess the main issue is that companies are strong arming people into using the internet on consoles for day one patches and updates, and a lot of people who use the internet could get caught out in the future. I'm not saying it 100% will happen and there will always be the emulation and home brew scene, but sadly publishers are moving into that always online direction. I'm all for physical media and big on it myself so I 100% don't like what's happening and not trying to be mean or cause any disturbance.
@IndoorEnthusiast Please show me any publisher TOS that says they can never legally revoke the licence from from a disc. I made my point clearly. There is plenty of information online about the issue of future games preservation. Sure you can argue that if you play offline forever with a feature incomplete version of the game you might be able to get away with it, but it's not 2007 anymore any most people use an internet connection on said console until it is life expired an can be jail broken. If you provide me with genuine publisher documentation that tells me what I am saying is factually untrue I will happily shut up and not respond to be told I'm "spreading misinformation"
@dskatter Please show me in the relevant publisher TOS where a publisher said they can never revoke a licence from a disc. Nearly every single disc sold requires either a partial or full download of software via an internet connection. Sure you can never log into PSN via the internet and stay offline forever with just the 1.0 build of the game forever but the majority of players wouldn't do that unless they had no access to internet.
As soon as you connect the the PSN Sony have to ability to even Kill-switch a game mid game (Stellar Blade demo) should they choose too. I'm not saying they 100% will, but they 100% can if they wanted to for licencing reasons.
If you got a copy of The Crew on disc that will work on my PS5 please show me where this is.
It actually blows my mind you are calling me out for misinformation, when the information about the upcoming issue of game preservation is now being widely talked about.
@Fishface45 Sadly these days publishers don't sell you a product, they sell you a licence that they can revoke anytime in the future even on the disc. I guess having the physical package may be nice to keep though.
I actually enjoyed DD2 a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't play the first game and I had been smart by doing a but of pre purchase research on the single save mechanic, and the way that travel is intended in the game. I spent about 70 hours with the game and yes I did have some greievnces with it but overall I found it to be a very solid 8/10.
One game I have found to be very outdated - even more so and the biggest disappointment is Rise of The Ronin.
Without sounding too mean Rise of the Ronin is basically what GOT would look like if it was made by Xbox. It has outdated Ubisoft style fetch quests and PS4 graphics and performance. Rise of the Ronin is simply not of the quality an SIE published game should have.
The overall game has been decent but I find myself forcing myself through the rest of the story to get to the end. Just my subjective opinion of course but a counter balance to those who may favour this game over DD2.
Ubisoft at the moment appear smart launching the game late August. June - Sept is usually a bit of a drought for games so I think the day one launch sales will actually be quite high despite their known discount practices which can start anywhere from 4-8 weeks after launch.
The only thing that could knock strong day sales of course is another huge game coming out the same time. I do feel like we won't get that situation until 2025 with the majority of the big stuff out before June (No AAA Sony games, GTA 6 or Persona 6 this year).
This mass market appeal of this game could may it a GOTY contender if it reviews well.
A lot of people was hoping for May based on the Korean ratings speculation but I knew this had Aug-Sept written all over it. Ubi love a long marketing campaign.
Microsoft always follow the money, and there is plenty on money to be had from PS and Nintendo players. The numbers don't lie. It is a smart move from the MS gaming division. I'm grateful I don't restrict myself to one console and enjoy all of them. I feel for those "fans" that do.
Consoles won't exist in 15 years time but I am pretty sure the MS gaming division will.
The marketing cycle has begun! I expect to see this launch in Q3 - July to September. Q2 would be a little to hot for Disney and Ubisoft, know to market games to death over several months and in some cases longer.
I really hope those on the fence give the demo a try. I have seen a lot of surprised reactions as to how good the combat, graphical fidelity and music is. Even I myself was surprised about how much I would enjoy the game. I think it is going to find a very big audience.
The optimisation on what is effectively a PS4 game is very poor. I should have gotten this on sale. It is not up to the standard that Sony output for published games. I'm sure someone from gen Z would refer to it as "Rise of Mid".
Based on the pre order rankings at least for Zau, putting onto PS Plus and getting that income is probably the best move. In a strong start to gaming in 2024 I could see this game getting lost on the PS store. This will find a bigger audience on PS Plus. I have heard lots of good things about Dave the Diver from Switch players and that seems to be a good addition.
I'm about 50 hours in now and really enjoying my time so far. A game does not often capture me the way this one has. Other examples I can think of are RDR 2, Hogwarts Legacy and Persona 5 Royal.

Re: Xbox Renegotiated Indiana Jones Deal to Exclude PS5, Then Ported It Anyway
Pretty sure case by case basis is exactly what MS are doing.
MS know how to find money. If it doesn't come to them (Xbox) they will go to it (other platforms).
A software company selling software to leverage profit from other companies should come as no suprise to nobody. They are just doing it first.
Sony will follow suit the second their current business strategy is no longer profitable.
