I bought the Steam Deck a little unsure of whether I'd like it or even keep it. But it has almost completely replaced my PS4 and Switch and it's just about the only thing I play on anymore.
Now if only we could get a PC port of Bloodborne and Demon Souls, optimized for the Deck.
@REALAIS Yes, I do think United Forever looks marginally better, but more so, the various versions of Trackmania 2, plus Turbo. Something about TM2020 looks really generic, like some run of the mill iPad game.
The series has never been about jaw dropping graphics, but it still has maintained a pretty nice visual flair until 2020.
I just don't understand why the newest Trackmania looks graphically far less impressive than some of the older titles. Obviously the gameplay is what matters, but I still just don't get it.
I haven't actually played it, but there's a game called Echo that looks fantastically unique and seems like it belongs on the list. Has anyone here played it?
@PVTHudson Outer Wilds is #14 on the list. That game is quite an experience! My kids watched me play through it and we were all glued to it for a week as I tried to figure everything out.
I would rate Hollow Knight as #1 and The Witness as #2.
And Journey is garbage. Critics' love for that game always makes me think of The Emperor's New Clothes. You can't admit to being the person who didn't "get it." Inside is sort of similar, although that game is at least more interesting to play. Just my opinion, of course.
It's pretty funny how many of the top games are on PS4 as well. I sort of wish this were an exclusives list, but I can understand why it isn't.
So far, I'm not compelled to upgrade to PS5 as the only exclusive of interest to me is Demon's Souls, and that will most likely end up on Steam in a year or two.
For a game as massive, polished, and intricate as Elden Ring, buying on any discount would feel like highway robbery to me. I'm maybe 60 hours in and I'm guessing I've only beaten half the game or so (I just finished Volcano Manor).
If PS5 doesn't have 60fps, then what does it have? Certainly not games. What need was there to replace PS4 other than for a consistent frame rate boost?
I don't see any legitimate reason that collector's edition should be SO pricey. As far as I see, the only thing adding notable cost is the marionette, and the MOST I can see that being worth is $40, and that's generous. Everything else is just some paper and cardboard.
I adore Cuphead, but this really seems like highway robbery.
I agree a remaster would be ridiculous. But the real issue is that people need to vote with their wallets. If unnecessary remakes (i.e. TLOU) sell well enough, then of course there will be more like it.
I can't believe it's been that long since Duke Nukem Forever released!! I spent 14 years of my life hearing about it eventually coming out. And now it's already been 11 years after it came out. Weird.
Alien Isolation
Axiom Verge
Dark Souls 3
Earth Defense Force 4.1
Horizon Zero Dawn
It Takes Two
Shadow of the Colossus
Spider-Man
The Witness
Tony Hawk 1+2
Trials Fusion
Uncharted 4
These are the games that really defined the PS4 for me.
This finally pushed me to order a Steam Deck. I was going to wait for a second edition update, but I care more to get it while the $399 price point is still an option. It's probably not going to stick around.
I will stick with Switch and Steam Deck this gen and ignore PS5 altogether.
Geoff Keighley is just doing his job. If any of us were in his position and our livelihood depending on generating hype for an event, would we really act so differently?
I didn't enjoy Second Son enough to ever finish it. I enjoyed First Light decently. Not exactly sure why it was more enjoyable for me, but I did complete that one.
The first Horizon was one of the best games I've ever played. On paper, Forbidden West is better in every category, but my enjoyment was not. It was still a very good game and I had a good time but I didn't even feel motivated to do all the sidequests, and this was my most hyped game EVER.
I legitimately like the first Horizon better. Pacing, world layout and size, weapon versatility, and a variety of other things just feel better.
Cash grab feels a bit harsh, but I certainly don't feel this remake is justified. When technology makes leaps to where the original version feels seriously dated, then a remake feels justified.
Remaking Ocarina of Time or Mario 64 or Metal Gear Solid or Shadow of the Colossus. Those seem reasonable. But the update here seems only "yeah I can squint and tell the difference."
I had a TON of fun with it... for 15 minutes. Then it felt like I was ready to be done with it. Such a great idea but something is missing to keep me replaying.

They ruined my boy Salazar.
0/10
The game is pointless now.
Re: Resident Evil 4 Gets 12 Minutes of Tense, Action-Packed Gameplay
Wow, that rain is having rain babies and the baby rain is crying buckets.
Re: Save the Date, Tarnished, Elden Ring Anniversary Livestream Set for 25th February
I want DLC and yet it feels ridiculously greedy to expect DLC for a game that is 4-5 times the size of most $60 games.
How insatiable is our appetite?

Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake Keeps Infamous Island Section, Makes it Bigger
I never understood why people don't like the island. I love that part.
Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?
Just started in November. I've put in 60 hours or so and am maybe halfway through the game.
I'm enjoying it a lot but personally I prefer the more linear style like DS3 has, versus the supermassive open world.

Re: When Will Sony Unwrap PS5, PS4's Annual January Sale on PS Store?
I want Tunic to drop down to $20.
Re: The Game Awards Smashes Records Yet Again with 103 Million Viewers
@Rob3008 True, but they didn't say how many people were tuned in via Steam. All the people trying to win a Steamdeck were watching via Steam.
Re: Busted! The Game Awards Stage Invader Arrested After Bill Clinton Interruption
I used to play as Bill Clinton in NBA Jam on Genesis. Good times.
Re: Elden Ring Adds Competitive Colosseums for Free This Week
If someone has played 5,000 hours of Elden Ring, they would have played 208 days out of the past 284 days (without sleep) since the game released.
Sorry, just had to do the math.
Re: Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has Better PC Launch Than Sackboy, Uncharted
Now for Bloodborne and Demon Souls to hit PC.
Re: Feast Your Eyes on the 2D Dark Souls 3 Metroidvania That Never Was
That is some mighty impressive pixel art! Also, DS3 is my favorite FromSoftware game, so this would be an instant buy for me.
Re: Evidence of Elden Ring DLC Mounts as Patch Files Indicate New Bosses Are Incoming
I just bought the game yesterday on my Steam Deck. I'm not ready for DLC 😄
Re: Sackboy: A Big Adventure Has Proven Very Unpopular on PC
The PC port people are waiting for is Bloodeborne, not Sad Sack.

Re: Soulslike Asterigos: Curse of the Stars Looks Fantastic in Gameplay Overview Trailer
Oh yeah, Iron Pineapple played the demo for this game and it seemed promising.
Re: Need for Speed Unbound Is Unlike Any Arcade Racer You've Seen Before
Looks pretty slick visually, but rarely do these games do anything special in terms of gameplay. I hope this one is different.
I think NFS Most Wanted is still the best in the series.

Re: PS5 Exclusives Will Take at Least One Year to Launch on PC
Just one more reason why I went with SteamDeck instead of PS5 this gen.
Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite PS4 Games

Trials Fusion
Uncharted 4

Re: Hotly Anticipated Indie Hollow Knight: Silksong Confirmed for PS5, PS4
Hollow Knight is my favorite game ever, so yeah, pretty hyped. I won't get it on PS4/PS5 but happy for all those who can.
I was a Kickstarter backer, so I'll get a code for Silksong for free. I'll use that to play it on Steamdeck but I'll also get it physical on Switch.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy The Last of Us: Part I?
That would be a NOPE.
Re: When Is Ubisoft Forward 2022?
I want a new Trials game.
Re: Americans Earn the Fewest Platinum Trophies for PS5, PS4
I play games for fun. I'm not gonna do anything I don't want to do just because there's a digital shiny attached.
There are 3 games I ever platinumed: Spider-Man,
Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witness

Sure, he can be a bit much, but so what.
Re: Mini Review: Tinykin (PS5) - A Cute Adventure Bubbling with Charm
The demo on Switch is shockingly generous and I had a blast playing through it. This game is a dream come true for OCD collectathoning.
I pre-ordered just as soon as I finished the demo.
Re: inFAMOUS: Second Son's Cole MacGrath DLC Is Now Free for Everyone

Re: Syphon Filter (PS1) - Espionage and Intrigue Abounds in This Scruffy Cinematic Shooter
I remember loving the first 7 levels or so, and then didn't care about anything past that. I also remember it getting shockingly difficult later on.
Re: Sony Removing Some Purchased Films, Movies from Users' Accounts
The only digital movie I own on PS4 is Interstellar. Glad it's not on the chopping block.
Re: First Impressions: More Cuphead May Well Be a Tasty Final Dish
One of my favorite games ever. I couldn't be more excited about the DLC. I'm currently replaying the base game.

Re: Horizon Call of the Mountain Will Be Part of State of Play
I'm more interested to hear about Forbidden West DLC. VR is too much investment for something I won't play often.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Revealed for PS5, Out Next Year
Guess I'm the only one disappointed for no PS4 version.
Re: Huge PS Store Days of Play Sale Live Now, 1,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Included
I'm surprised that Miles Morales isn't on sale.
Re: Big PS Store Days of Play Sale Begins This Wednesday
I'm hoping that Outer Wilds and Miles Morales go on sale.
