Re: Insiders Are Already Hyping Up The Game Awards, Set to Be a 'Very Big' Show

Twenty One Pilots are performing, so that's enough to have me excited. Although the specific sad song they're doing is a VERY strange voice for a hyped up game awards show. I'm curious to see how they fit it in.

Also, I think there is a good chance that the next game from It Takes Two developer will be announced.

And most importantly, I think there is a decent chance that we will see a Silksong release date. Yes, actually.

Re: Your 2024 PlayStation Wrap-Up Will Be Available Starting Next Week

Woah, trying to anticipate my Sony "report card" just made me realize how little I played Playstation this year! I'll be curious to see my results. I think I played about 14 hours of Elden Ring back in January and maybe 4 hours of Timesplitters 2. My youngest son played a few games like Spiderman and Ratchet and Clank.

This year was the least gaming I've ever done and most of it was on Switch and Steam Deck.

EDIT: Just remembered I played a little Bloodborne for the first time as well. Maybe 6 hours? Really didn't care for it, despite loving other FromSoftware games (especially DS3).

Re: Poll: What Will Win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023?

@Athrum I've watched a lot of footage of BG3. If you're saying it's not an especially great looking game, I agree. But compared to TotK or Mario Wonder, it looks more "impressive." Spiderman 2 and Resident Evil 4 remake are certainly better looking but they are both too derivative to win GotY.
Seems like the winner has to do something fresh and be graphically impressive, so BG3 seems like the obvious choice based on how these things usually go.

Re: Preview: It's Virtually Impossible for Armored Core 6 to Fail

I dunno... I'm a big FromSoft fan, but I'm not a big fan of mech games. They usually feel awesome initially and then within an hour I'm feeling bored and like everything is too repetitive. This has been my experience with Armored Core, Zone of the Enders, Omega Boost, etc.

That said, I really hope to be wrong and that this game will be incredible.

Re: Prince of Persia's Devs Welcome All Reactions After Overwhelmingly Negative Response to PS5, PS4 Sidescroller

@themightyant "across a swathe of the most-viewed uploads of the trailer, only around 28% of likes or votes were positive."
Sounds pretty clearly like the broad opinion is negative, not just a few vocal haters.

Personally, this and Sonic were the best looking games at the summer games event. I didn't love the music. The artstyle is well done but terribly overused. But the gameplay looks to hold real promise.

Re: Baby Steps Is the Weirdest PS5 Game You'll See Today

I've never played Death Stranding, but watching gameplay of that felt as ridiculous as watching gameplay of this. Except this game feels like a small "intended to be stupid fun" game, whereas Death Stranding felt like someone decided to make a AAA game in the QWOP/Octodad genre.

In any case, this intrigues me.

Re: E3 Killed Itself, Says Summer Game Fest's Geoff Keighley

Since I was a kid, I have looked forward to E3 like it was christmas. I remember looking at floor maps of which companies had what space. Pictures leaked early of decorations going up. So many game announcements. This was such an exciting event, even just from a distance.

Now there is nothing to fill that hole. I mean, Nintendo Directs and Sony Showcases accomplish the game announcements, but it stinks not having one GUARANTEED time of year when every company is pulling out all the stops.

Re: The Witcher 3 Sales Top a Ridiculous 50 Million

Genuine question: Is this one of those games that is really only enjoyable if you get attached to characters and storyline in games?
I'm the type of gamer who skips cutscenes and doesn't read more than necessary. I only care about gameplay, so games like Skyrim hold no appeal, while I do like Dark Souls because the lore can be fully ignored by people like me who just don't care.

Where on the spectrum is The Witcher 3?

Re: Mini Review: Teslagrad 2 (PS5) - Puzzle Platformer Focused on Tremendous Traversal

sketchturner

I loved the first Teslagrad, so this is a no-brainer for me. I can't speak to this game but I certainly don't think the original had unfair boss fights. They were just fantastic, especially the final boss. It's one of those bosses where it feels impossible at first but after some practice, I can easily beat it every single time.

I wish this review had offered more in way of direct comparison to the original. I think the original Teslagrad, though short, is one of the best Metroidvanias ever (and I've played them all). It's especially great to speedrun.
