Civ 6 is definitely worth the money. It's one of those "forever games" that you can always start a new run in and it always feels fresh since there's so many civs with different playstyles. I've already sunk so many hours into it and now that I'm thinking about it I want to play it again.
@Specky Really? Sony closed down the PSP marketplace and Nintendo shut down the 3DS eShop but I can still go ahead and grab whatever I want. No company can ever truly restrict your access to anything.
@Specky I bought a digital only PS5 and a Series S. I'm all in on digital, so I've got no problems with it. I can almost guarantee that two gens from now there will be no more physical consoles except maybe Nintendo still hanging on.
You buy the game digital to support the dev and then when it's off the market you just homebrew your console (it will be possible by that point) and continue to play the game. Nothing is ever truly lost when you go digital. Unless they shut down the servers....and even then, if the game was loved enough then fans will just bring it right back. Don't fear the digital future too much. There will always be a way to access content.
Palworld and now this game. Where triple A studios might disappoint with either meh buggy releases...or just taking too long to put out their next release, it's good to see we have smaller studios standing up to pick up the slack. Let's just hope they keep that passion and creative spark once they start to find success.
@XboxistheBestBox I've seen how you talk in other places, you definitely show some bias yourself so you shouldn't be casting any stones (not like that username isn't a dead giveaway!)
Modern Sensibilities, I guess. I still play all these games but I always roll my eyes when someone tells me the main character NEEDS to look realistic in a game where you shoot dinosaurs and mummies and all that.
Ubisoft likes to scare you into buying games by threatening to take them off the service only to bring them back later. Honestly, you should just never buy a Ubi game because that's what usually happens. A shame because I considered them one of the kings of the PS3 era.
@ButWhy With the amount of love and care put into the game I think this statement is selling the game short. This is much more than a simple remaster since they didn't just update they resolution and called it a day, they went back and updated every single area of the game and even added a couple new ones. All while keeping the vibes of the original game. Persona 3 Reload looks how you remember it, not how Persona 3 actually looks. I'll give it to you that this is not the definitive version but adding the female MC would require a ton of more work on top of what they already did, it wouldn't have been a simple "reskin boy model to female" since her route is practically an entirely new experience in and of itself. They actually added most of the FES content to the base game with this release and even added new content never before released on top of it. They modernized the combat with new mechanics and completely touched up Tartarus so it's not exactly the same thing over and over. The one major missing piece to the game besides the female MC is "the answer" 's content, which I'm guessing is more likely to be released as DLC rather than as Persona 3 Reload "Royal Golden" or whatever since you'd naturally only play that content once you beat the main game. So it makes more sense to just finish it up and release it later while people are just finishing the game.
Tl;Dr... Calling it a mere remaster is a disservice to the amount of effort that was put into modernizing and updating the game. It's still not the definitive release we were hoping for...but getting the definitive release with every version of Persona 3 would have taken several years...just look at Final Fantasy 7.
This feels like an improvement in pretty much every way compared to the original PS2 offering. At first I was skeptical, did we really need a remake? Actually playing it though? I'd now be perfectly fine if they gave Persona 4 the same treatment.
Kind of weird that they would switch to the inferior service in this case. I've always had problems streaming with Crunchyroll, never had issues with Funimation. What a shame.
Square Enix always gets special treatment at these things. A whole state of play just for rebirth? You'd think the game was a first party title at this point.
It is kind of a shame that the female character was scrapped and that the answer's (admittedly meh anyways) content wasn't included but pound for pound the sheer amount of content they DID add pretty much makes it worth it, for me anyways. Then again I never had any interest in playing the female route in the first place so if that was your preference then I can understand this being a major deal breaker.
The rewind feature is both cool but can also feel kind of cheap at times. One way it was beneficial was when I went to Tartarus but forgot to gear Akihiko up beforehand. Rather than waste the day or struggling with him stuck with default gear I was able to rewind and stock up.
Times when it feels cheap however is when you screw up on a social link or answer something incorrectly. Now you can just rewind and try again, so you never really feel like you're dealing with the consequences of your actions. Sure I COULD just pretend rewind doesn't exist but it's so easy and convenient that I just can't help myself.
@bassjas12 It would definitely make more sense to make "The Answer" as DLC since that takes place after the main story. So people that are waiting for a "royal" version, where you have to buy it all over again might not wind up getting what they expected. Though this is Atlus so I guess we never really know.
Yep, I pretty much bought a series S just so I could play games like this day one for "free". Well with all the rewards points I earn with Microsoft the membership really does pay for itself. I really wish Sony at least had an equivalent to that because Stars kinda pales in comparison.
@Porco Asked for by nobody except for the suits and investors that were likely screaming "MONETIZE, MONETIZE, MONETIZE!!" The entire time the game was being developed.
This is unapologetically more Death Stranding, for better or worse. I finished the first game and I barely understand what's going on in the trailer. Then again I barely understood what was happening while playing it too.
I like the art style a bit better, the characters look more mature. That was always my problem with Genshin. Still not a big fan of ARPGs but I'll keep an eye on this one.
@Ralizah Especially after she was "nerfed" for the remake. She's still attractive for sure but nowhere near the fan service-y character she used to be, so it is kind of degrading to the character to continue to treat her like she's just eye candy.
Been waiting for Penacony. I'm so tired of the Luofu by now. I play the game for like 20 minutes a day but I'm sure I'll be back to putting down a couple hours exploring the new planet.
@Mephisto2869 Fair enough, seems like there's lots of other underlying reasons for your opinion but I appreciate you clarifying it for me so I can better understand where said opinion came from.
@Mephisto2869 What I again don't get is why you even gave the game a try when you clearly only like "adult" games? You clearly weren't going to like it right off the bat. Seems like you just wasted your time.
