FF I think also struggled to innovate turn based combat wise after games with turned based mechanics came out such as Persona, Shadow Hearts Covenant and later on Like A Dragon,Eiyuden Chronicle,Lost Odyssey plus Honkai Star Rail.

Most of the PS4 games don't need remasters at all plus I feel like I'm dealing with franchise fatigue. Likes of the same IPs they have been using GOW,Last of Us,Uncharted,Spider Man and Horizon I'm sick of.

I feel thank god for games like Astrobot,Stellar Blade,Rise of Ronin and the 3rd party console exclusives.

I see that a multiplatform and doing everything themselves won't solve their issues. Square always had management issues. FF13 & Versus(FF15) had a lot of interest when they were revealed.

After we played those they weren't near as good as older entries. So I think more people lost interest in the series.

For once I feel like I'm surprised with something in the gaming industry so it feels like a breath of fresh air. These days I don't feel like much surprises me. So glad Freedom Wars has another leash of life and hopefully some older IPs too.

I never read Metacritic scores or follow that much media. I just look at videos to see if I'm interested in it I played lots of games for years. So I know my tastes and personally prefer experimental games over mainstream most of the time.

Absolutely loving Unicorn Overlord atm.

I think PS console is priority for Sony. PC comes second and they made the right call not to do same date besides some of the remasters and multiplayer games

A good team to make a game together is this guy and David Jaffe. Both outspoken like hell.

Some of the IPs they been using I'm burned out of. Happy for new IPs from the big teams and they should do remakes of Jak 2 plus Legend of Dragoon. They should have a go again at a PS All Stars type game or a Sony fighting game. With added characters like Cloud FF7 Remake and Old Snake etc.

Tifa is great to play as regardless. I loved playing as Yuffie in Rebirth personally!

@gaston I think because there are similar games out there. Some think they're making this game to appease a certain crowd so some criticism on that end.

No surprises there. Tbh I don't care and then if it does release there will be another bunch of identity politics. On top of it's overpriced FES content. Glad someone got Reload for me instead of paying in any form for it.

I don't care about FF13. I'd rather them put Xenogears classic on PS4/PS5 storefront for all regions. Only one of the trilogy I didn't mind was FF13-2.

@Buckeye4Life2015 I agree I preferred FF13 over the other entries in the trilogy. With the monster system reminded me of SMT.

Murder or killing zombies is ok. But seeing a girl's in bikinis isn't. God today's western world makes you lose faith in humanity and they wonder why.

It's a silly idea really it's just extra work for the company staff to manage. Just brings in new problems. They got sites for this.

Played a little bit enjoying it so far

PS3 was underrated it struggled at the start but I loved Resistance,3 Dot Heroes and Folklore.

Then got some exclusives in the 2nd cycle after MGS4. Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us blew lot of things out of the water in its time.

Let's hope Sony gets its classic library from PS3 as well as some of the PS3 games that aren't playable everywhere else on its PS4/PS5 storefront. But I doubt it.

They never do a collaboration with Persona 1 or 2.

@torne Yeah I sort of felt the same especially at first.
Like I'm interested in it but not hyped personally. I thought the recent trailer was really good and seeing normal gameplay videos made more interested rather than the other trailers and videos.

Sort of pretty much SMTXFire Emblem more than Mirage Sessions was. Lot of people hoped it would be a Hashino take on the Fantasy genre.

Not sure on this one the thing is so much games to buy and catch up on. Especially probably going to pick up Kai a month before.

Sure it's a arena fighter but at least it's not by the One Punch Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia game devs.
Which was lackluster adaptions which Namco Bandai has been on a streak in that regard.

Hopefully with a high demand they can remake Dino Crisis

@cragis0001 Yup that was the case at the time. Well as cross play issues they had back then. They talked about doing a Xbox release around or before Endwalker. But time to do it at the time.

FF7 Remake I agree with being extended. I think Black Myth is a Baldurs Gate 3 situation Xbox Series S development issues. Sega deal sounds similar like Tekken 8 deal gets Mokujin avatars PS5.

Yeah Xbox itself is weakening they're losing games due to people not buying the console and MS has to fork out money just to get some games on Xbox.

@NotSoCryptic Yup that is pretty much exactly the story. The trade off for the deal was that Square could do what they liked with FF7-FF12 originals/remasters.

@cragis0001 Well they never denied FF14 going on Xbox they just didn't put it on Xbox in the past due to cross-play issues and MS company policies. Which they been working on it for ages but MS had issues with Square's last manager Yosuke Matsuda.

I think it deserves it sales and more. I think it will do well in the long run PC release in a year or 2.Plus it be on sale so it will do well. Shift Up are happy. I loved the game personally it was lot of fun and enjoyed Eve couldn't give a crap about the controversy. Feel like I'm glad to be one of the players that purchased the game.

@ApostateMage I absolutely agree the story and characters were average for Arise. Berseria I found one of the best games in the series. I don't have much hope with Tomizawa being the series head.

For the next game I hope they can go back with more traditional with return of 2d cut ins for mystic artes and skits.

The new Tales entry with gameplay similar to Arise as well as improved AI which Arise went a step back, better story/characters, balance humor like previous entries, it tried to be more serious to cater to western audience and more options for Arte trees.

@twitchtvpat Yeah I heard they are going to do another Uncharted. Yeah I'd rather they would do another Jak game personally but i don't see it happening. Naughty Dog seems to do only realistic type games these days.

If anything I'm waiting on player impressions and videos to decide on this title. I feel like it been in development for so long and the original concept seemed more exciting. Trails from Daybreak has a battle system similar to this. Metaphor seems to be like SMT 3 battle system wise with a class based system.

@KundaliniRising333 The problem with too many interviews is that it has shot Phil and MS in the foot. Gets to the point he says different things to different interviewers and the actions as well as the words dont match.

Sony is smart to pick their battles in the interview front.

Lot of the time the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.

Longs its not Uncharted or Last of Us. I'm fine and longs its like the space IP I saw in the concept art hopefully something new. Bring back Jak series or 2 as a remake since it was one of the best games on PS2.

Happy with what I got this year game wise so far. Good games I still need to catch up on. Yeah I hope Sony goes back to it's pre PS3/PS4 IPs which need a break. Ready for something new.
Don't care for last generation remakes i'd take a Jak 2 remake over all of those.

One of the good things of this SOP. Looking promising when I saw it revealed for PC so glad there's a PS5 version!

This is the result of things becoming more multiplatform.
The only things were Astrobot and Where Winds Meet PS5 version that interested me. State of Plays are a mixed bag and I think deep down Sony wanted to set the expectations down after the hype of reveals like Shenmue 3 and FF7 Remake.

Then those expectations keep going up so in the long term you can't keep up. I thought the State of Play earlier this year was decent. Big problems are development time and cost thats for most developers now.
Despite that I do think it should of been a lot better.

Im struggling to keep up with the games as it is . Im hoping what they show is decent. No more last generation remasters im ready for some new IPs or bring back PS1 and PS2 franchises.

I wouldn't mind a JRPG produced by Sony again like the old days but I see it isn't going to happen.

@get2sammyb We know this. But it feels like it was yesterday when Horizon 1 released I can understand why they want to do more of it.

Well usually after each generation PS always done something new and I liked that a lot.

This generation in general is a IP farm.

@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah 13 and 15 were disappointments. With it's long production times and engines which was a mess. People waited so long for a FF at the time so people brought it.
The finished products compared to the trailers were disappointing.

Most of Square's failures have been lack of putting the right budgets for the right games. Forspoken,Foamstars,Babylons Fall and The Avengers.

Recent overall least over the past while Squares games are better than the PS3/360 era.

Sony's big studios are in California and console buying in Japan is on decline. Problem once they got to California they got all the politics from there too .

Yeah I know we are getting more Horizon I hope for something different personally which Sony did past generations

@UltimateOtaku91 This is going to be thing as well they have to scale their games back and sounds like the new Switch spec wise is sort of in-between PS4 and PS5. I think with Square is the allocation of their budgets on the right projects is a big issue for them.

I'm fine with the current strategy as long as they keep the incentive on players having a PlayStation. Which Xbox lost the incentive with putting it on day 1.

The buyout of Activision is a double edged sword with COD and they trying to figure out how to recoup the costs. The recession has been a factor as well as management mistakes.

Gamepass has failed to generate the income and they realise they need sales for COD. They put PC release on same date as Xbox which lost incentive people buying an Xbox.

At heart MS hasn't changed they keep opening their mouth everywhere for a long time and it's backfired on them.

MS has had long time management issues starts at the top and then to the bottom.

Thought this was going to be the case I wouldn't mind every 2 years.

Yeah it was the only studio I cared about that MS had . The only team that has produced a good game for them throughout this generation.

Hi Fi Rush has been the only decent game from MS this generation and they're closing that studio down. MS are a lifeless company.
