Re: EA Sports WRC Outlines Modes and Features in Latest Video

ChromaticDracula

I dunno how ya'll feel about it after seeing the video but I. AM. STOOOOKKKEEEDDDD.
I can see some vast improvements over WRC Generations and 10. Those are great games in their own way but this looks to have improved even more, specifically the replays and the way the cars appear to move about and less "floaty."
I've been playing Generations to get ready for this and the wait just became a whole lot harder for me... The car creation looks DEEP and the video at the ~6:14 mark had me questioning if it was real footage or gameplay. Finally, realistic dust trails.

Re: Rumour: State of Play Incoming? Death Stranding 2 Dev Photo Seems to Suggest Showcase

ChromaticDracula

@Grimwood I'll admit I'm a bit out of the loop with probably more than I'd like to admit.
I did forget to mention MGS Collection, Alan Wake 2, and Turok 3. Outside of all those I'm just not really following any other games or planning to get any others. I'm really burnt out on open world games so Spider-Man 2 is out of the question for me. I really never got into the first despite fully realizing that game is oozing quality, care, and love. Someday maybe...
I'd say that's pretty solid list though if I even actually buy all of them before the end of the year:
-Silent Hill 2 remake (?)
-Death Stranding 2 (?)
-WRC (November)
-Alan Wake 2 (October)
-Metal Gear Solid Collection (October)
-Turok 3 (November)

I sort of want Call of Duty as well because I haven't played one of those campaigns in YEARS. I'm sort of itching for that again but can't bring myself to spend the money... That's a me problem though.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Locked at 30fps in PS5, PS4 Master Collection

ChromaticDracula

@AdamNovice THANK YOU… seriously this whole 60fps thing is getting real old.
If Konami messed with the original content you’d have fans screaming that they are hating on Kojima and p*sing on his legacy. On the flip side, Konami doesn’t touch the games and releases them properly as originally intended and you all still hate on them. You really can’t win.
I’m happy the route they went.

The first (PS1) game ran at 30, it’s releasing at 30.
The second and third (PS2) games ran at 60, it’s releasing at 60.
What else do you want, you’re getting the original games how they were designed to be played.

If they were adding in a bunch of other things in these games like rewind, up scaling, graphical overhauls, etc. then it would make sense to tweak the fps. These are straight ports of cherished games, from the original publisher, that’s it.

Re: EA Sports WRC Video Gives Us Our First Good Look at Gameplay

ChromaticDracula

holy moly this is looking amazing. I'm over here salivating... Yes, some of the effects still look "off" and stuff but overall very very good.
There were a few times when I actually had to double-take and say, "Wait, was that real footage or from the game?"
I hope there is a way to have replays in 30 fps (preferably 24!) and gameplay at 60.
The smoothness of the replays is great but it also detracts from the cinematic feel.

I'm done rambling — I can't wait for this. I'm already preordered and ready to go!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Mortal Kombat 1?

ChromaticDracula

Only fighting games that ever clicked for me were smash bros and soul caliber.

Mortal Kombat’s controls never clicked for me.. never understood how to successfully input ⬇️A⬆️⬇️BB⬆️➡️↘️C↖️↙️↙️↙️ perfectly every time. I just don’t get it, the controls on most fighting games are too difficult for me.

Re: EA Sports WRC Takes Rallying 'Next-Gen' on PS5 This November

ChromaticDracula

I’m 8/10 hyped. The extra 2 points would’ve been added for some extra gameplay showing… actual gameplay instead of just snazzy ultra-controlled-environment replays.

Either way I’m going to preorder. VERY excited! Those dust trails look next-gen. I wonder if we’ll hear the co-driver voices stuttering as we hit bumpy terrain. That would be immersive and amazing…

Re: The First Official WRC Rally Racer from EA Sports Is Finally Unveiled Tomorrow

ChromaticDracula

Frankly, I’m stoked for this news.
The things I’m looking forward to are better dust trails (the teaser above looks pretty solid) and I’d also love for your co-driver’s voice to sort of stutter a bit as you hit bumps or go over rocky roads. Those two things would make these games feel truly next-gen.

I wasn’t a fan of the team management stuff and largely ignored it in the last 2-3 entries. I understand why it was included and it felt like a natural progression for the series but because I was able to ignore it and it wasn’t forced I feel like it was otherwise executed properly.

I just want a rally game focused on driving and improving my skills with hyper-realistic physics without any extra fluff.

My only complaint is with wrc generations where the co-driver spoke way too slow or the cars were way too fast. Some of the tracks were so technical and quick that I’d be mid-turn and the driver was only just staring to speak the pace note. Sort of ruined the game for me. 10 was perfect otherwise.

Re: PS5 Fans Divided on PlayStation Portal Handheld

ChromaticDracula

Things are just too expensive these days. That’s my reason. I can’t justify buying this thing that runs off technology that I’ve personally witnessed having mass amounts of lag and glitches. Playing games like Elden Ring and even Dark Souls that require accurate inputs are just not fun on the technology.
I don’t have a need for this thing so it goes to my do not buy list.

Re: Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon (PS5) - Great Mecha Action at Times Feels Stunted

ChromaticDracula

Without having played the game (yet) and setting my own expectations, I am hoping for Ace Combat 7 but with mechs. I want the epic battles, well-done radio chatter, explosions…. You get it I’m sure. It sounds like there will be smaller bites from the Ace Combat 7 buffet which isn’t really a bad thing. Can’t wait to play it!
I think everyone was hoping for the first 10/10 mech game.

Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Trends on PS Store as $50 Port Attracts a Lot of Attention

ChromaticDracula

I think maybe we all get caught up in this online world and assume lots of folks are there with us. Really though, those other folks just see Red Dead released and they go "Oh wow!" and click buy without even researching.
If I ever buy this, it'll be on sale. As someone who never played the game, I think $50 is somewhat fair but I won't buy it on principle just because more could have been done to this to make it a proper release on current-get hardware. This is the definition of lazy port. I think if it were cheaper, people wouldn't have been so harsh.

Re: Larian Studios Gets TikTok Ban for Bear-Form Druid Sex Scene in Baldur's Gate 3

ChromaticDracula

From a surface level and someone who would never bone a bear, I see it as harmless. On the same line, I will also acknowledge the fact that there are people out there that will take this too seriously and that’s why this is shut down. Aka, there’s always someone who ruins it. You can only ruin something so many times until you realize it shouldn’t have been a thing in the first place.

Re: Rumour: WRC 23, Developed by Codemasters, Is Just Around the Hairpin Bend on PS5

ChromaticDracula

What I really want from this series is for the co-driver’s voice to stutter as we go over bumps and rocky terrain. That feels so next gen to me.
Also, I’d like them to speak faster as needed. In WRC Generations, some of the cars were so fast, there was no way in hell the co-driver was getting the notes out fast enough. You literally had to know the track which totally defeats the purpose. I crashed so many times on the one event because he was speaking them as I was already in some of the turns.

Last, I’d like the team management to go away. It’s nice I can largely ignore it in the previous ones but I just want it to go away altogether.

Anyway, this is going to be one announcement I’m hyped for (along with SH2, MGS, and hopefully some Castlevania!)

Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Development Is Further Along Than You Might Think

ChromaticDracula

I’m with @Darude84 here. I can’t think of the last time a game gripped me like Elden Ring. I was heavily into Dark Souls of course but Elden Ring made exploring the world so much fun. I explored every freaking inch and it was so rewarding…
I like to think From is the best at creating a world with a physical structure off in the distance — a huge castle up on a cliff or some towering thing somewhere-over-there — and invoking that feeling like, “oh man how do you get up there?” Or “Ah crap I’m gonna have to go in there at some point aren’t I?”

Been kind of slowly playing it again as I have time but I’ll be so ready when this DLC drops. I never buy DLC but I most certainly will be when this drops.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Really Is Targeting 2024 Release Date

ChromaticDracula

Unless this is a software update, and I certainly don't think it will be, I'm not interested. This is ridiculous-sounding. Nothing makes sense.. the games are still cross-gen and there aren't many games taking advantage of the PS5 capabilities the way it is (or so it appears.) I spent $500-some dollars to get what I already have and im not about to do it again for a largely similar experience.
Maybe the word Pro is thrown around but it actually just means the model with he USB disc drive peripheral. That makes more sense to me than a whole overhaul upgrade to the core system. Crazy.

Re: Ambitious Action Platformer The Devil Within: Satgat Slices and Dices on PS5, PS4

ChromaticDracula

This looks really good… reminds me of Shadow Complex’s art style. It’s a wonder why nobody else follows that format. I think the only other one that comes to mind at the moment is Metroid: Dread. I love the pixely art ones but there’s something really special about this kind too. There’s a fine balance between looking cheap and on the other hand, looking like it’s filled with love and care, which is the case with this one.

Re: Talking Point: Is 2024 Too Soon for PS5 Pro?

ChromaticDracula

Should also be a question for “Will you buy the PS5 Pro?”
I would answer no. Nothing would make me feel more like a “ps5 beta tester” than that. Like I’ve been playing on some sort of dev kit this whole time that I got scammed into paying frill price for. I feel like it’s hardly taken off as a system yet and it’s obscene (and a slap in the face for early adopters) to release a ps5 PRO. Another model with a detachable drive, okay, but not a spec bump and renaming.
