Re: Review: Hitman: Episode 5 - Colorado (PS4)

Churchy

Just a question, do you think it's worth dipping into Hitman now, or will it be best to wait until the whole thing is done? It's been wearing me down over time and sometimes I think "why not?!" even though I do prefer physical media for larger games?

Also, how much hard-drive space does each episode take up roughly?

Re: Resident Evil 7's VR Mode Will Be Exclusive to PlayStation VR for a Year

Churchy

This doesn't seem like a good thing to me. If you have timed exclusives on a device like this, it does weaken the overall prospect of buying one. And also it raises a few questions, how many more timed VR exclusives will there be? Will these games include other functions for other devices? And will this timed exclusivity shorten as we go forward?

Also, are there other devices that will have a try at it?

I don't know about this. To me it weakens the whole deal. In a time where exclusives are more rare, having them for a platform is exceptionally valuable. It might not be that costly now, but it could have significant impact down the line.

Re: Michel Ancel Shares More Beyond Good & Evil 2 Artwork

Churchy

@get2sammyb My stance is more one of questioning if it's different to the current assumption. As you wrote, Ancel's status in the company is a little loose anyway (and I imagine that happened after the handling of Rayman Legends by Ubi). I agree that BG&E 2 is happening, but no one really knows what state it's in. The fact we've only seen art/concepts probably means it isn't that far, especially if there's worries about the Vivendi take over. It's more an alternative theory. Either way, I just hope the damn thing is released!

Re: Horror Here They Lie Departs in Time for PlayStation VR Launch

Churchy

@SavoirFaire Wait? The genre's dying? If anything there are more horror games around then ever before. The explosion of the indies kicked it off, established new trends within development, and we've had a whole host of titles come out in the last few years which are fantastic, and more on the way.

I do agree it's potentially a great genre for VR though.

Re: 'No Plans' For The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch, Says Developer

Churchy

Good for them. They made that game for PS4, not PS4 Pro, so why should they bother with it? They've had all that success with Witcher 3 so they don't really need anything else at this point.

I'd much rather have two new games than a patch for one that has been out for over a year.

Re: TGS 2016: NieR: Automata Launches Next Year in Japan

Churchy

I actually really dug this trailer. I loved the sense of mystery you get from it, but the tone of the game's direction carries across really well. It's looking like it'll be quite dark with a sense of gravitas in a sci-fi dystopia. And I love the numbers running at the bottom to reveal the release date.

And that music, awesome. This is coming from someone who knows next to nothing about Nier or Drakengard.

Re: Japanese Ad Combines PS4 Slim and Persona 5, the Result Is Mental

Churchy

I don't think I've been left this confused by a Japanese advert since that one selling a Hitachi air conditioner featuring Hulk Hogan singing an odd song about the days of the week... in his boxer shorts. Oh and there was a baby in it.

But yeah, this is just glorious. And Persona 5 looks pretty good too.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2016 Presser Deliver?

Churchy

I think this show was always meant to be more low key. They're trying to introduce something whilst not shutting a lot of people out and I think by being a bit more chilled about it is a good way to go. It's more a presser with a hardware focus so it makes sense. If they shouted from the rooftops about PS4 Pro it would be a real anti-climax.

I get what they're trying to do and it makes sense. So for what they had to do I think they did it reasonably well.

The TGS show is the one which will be filled with a few more flash bangs game-wise.

Re: Oh God! Duke Nukem Returns to PS4 on 11th October

Churchy

Although I enjoyed the trailer and the idea, I don't think there's really enough to warrant the price tag, especially when I've already got the remastered version on Steam. Though it might suit people who haven't got a digital version DN3D.

@SuperCat I would actually like to play a parody game of Everbody's Gone to the Pub.

Re: New Mafia III Gameplay Trailer Takes Justice Into Its Own Hands

Churchy

There's a couple of things I'm worried about based on the gameplay I've seen.

Firstly, there are a lot of floating markers. There are markers for every gun, markers for cash that falls out of people, markers for distance away from an objective. It really looks cluttered.

The second is that Lincoln has Arkham detective mode (or Clay-vision if you will) and it felt really bizarre seeing it for the type of game it is.

Re: SEGA's Still Investigating Those Oft-Requested Shenmue Remasters for PS4

Churchy

Hmm... I can't help but think it might actually happen before number 3 releases, or even alongside it. The Kickstarter has been a huge success so they have actual numbers as to how many people would be interested.

There was a trail of small clues leading up to the announcement of number 3, and I think there's a similar thing happening here. Sega is talking about this a lot more than they ever used to, and in a more transparent fashion to boot.

If not, they'll look and see how Shenmue 3 does. If it's successful, you can bet you're arse they'll do it.

Re: Dead or Alive Xtreme 3's PlayStation VR Patch Is As Pervy As You'd Expect

Churchy

Never understood the dual nature of forced shock vs. sexual knowledge when it comes to sexual content in media, especially in the UK.

Although the context of this update is a bit weird, this is really tame. Also, let's not give it that much credit - it's not as fun as the porn or hentai I'm sure several of us have enjoyed throughout the years. Although I guess the interactive part is a nice touch for those that want it.
