Good on you guys for calling this out. If anything, this just seems confusing as to why this wasn't thought through properly.
I was thinking of getting PSVR a little later to see how it all handles first, so if anything I'm glad I took that stance so all the kinks can be ironed out.
@wiiware Oh I agree having exclusives is good, but these are timed exclusives. And when you've got games that will be appearing on other devices in a matter of months, I feel that's not as good as something that will forever be an exclusive.
Just a question, do you think it's worth dipping into Hitman now, or will it be best to wait until the whole thing is done? It's been wearing me down over time and sometimes I think "why not?!" even though I do prefer physical media for larger games?
Also, how much hard-drive space does each episode take up roughly?
This doesn't seem like a good thing to me. If you have timed exclusives on a device like this, it does weaken the overall prospect of buying one. And also it raises a few questions, how many more timed VR exclusives will there be? Will these games include other functions for other devices? And will this timed exclusivity shorten as we go forward?
Also, are there other devices that will have a try at it?
I don't know about this. To me it weakens the whole deal. In a time where exclusives are more rare, having them for a platform is exceptionally valuable. It might not be that costly now, but it could have significant impact down the line.
@get2sammyb My stance is more one of questioning if it's different to the current assumption. As you wrote, Ancel's status in the company is a little loose anyway (and I imagine that happened after the handling of Rayman Legends by Ubi). I agree that BG&E 2 is happening, but no one really knows what state it's in. The fact we've only seen art/concepts probably means it isn't that far, especially if there's worries about the Vivendi take over. It's more an alternative theory. Either way, I just hope the damn thing is released!
I wonder if it's of a slightly different nature. I wonder if it's like Shenmue with Yu Suzuki, where Ubisoft is letting Ancel go independent with it and do it with his own team, possibly funded via Kickstarter.
@JoeBlogs Haha, it's a fair point! I lost my sanity long ago so I guess that explains my propensity for soiling my trousers via interactive entertainment.
@SavoirFaire Wait? The genre's dying? If anything there are more horror games around then ever before. The explosion of the indies kicked it off, established new trends within development, and we've had a whole host of titles come out in the last few years which are fantastic, and more on the way.
I do agree it's potentially a great genre for VR though.
Good for them. They made that game for PS4, not PS4 Pro, so why should they bother with it? They've had all that success with Witcher 3 so they don't really need anything else at this point.
I'd much rather have two new games than a patch for one that has been out for over a year.
I can't wait for this to fall flat on its face. Hell, even in the trailer all the characters exit the area as if they're trying to physically get away from the game itself.
This is going to be amazing. I wish people would stop being lazy and dropping the Dark Souls references though. It's got a lot of mechanics and aspects that make it go beyond a clone.
I actually really dug this trailer. I loved the sense of mystery you get from it, but the tone of the game's direction carries across really well. It's looking like it'll be quite dark with a sense of gravitas in a sci-fi dystopia. And I love the numbers running at the bottom to reveal the release date.
And that music, awesome. This is coming from someone who knows next to nothing about Nier or Drakengard.
I'll eat my left testicle if Nioh isn't shown in some capacity. Wait... with the Last Guardian delay, anything is possible. Maybe a more traditional hat is better to consume instead.
I'm usually fine with delays, but don't go to the trouble of making a trailer with a specific release date. It looks really sloppy, and with a game that's taken this long it only makes people more anxious and suspicious about what the f*ck is going on.
I don't think I've been left this confused by a Japanese advert since that one selling a Hitachi air conditioner featuring Hulk Hogan singing an odd song about the days of the week... in his boxer shorts. Oh and there was a baby in it.
But yeah, this is just glorious. And Persona 5 looks pretty good too.
I think this show was always meant to be more low key. They're trying to introduce something whilst not shutting a lot of people out and I think by being a bit more chilled about it is a good way to go. It's more a presser with a hardware focus so it makes sense. If they shouted from the rooftops about PS4 Pro it would be a real anti-climax.
I get what they're trying to do and it makes sense. So for what they had to do I think they did it reasonably well.
The TGS show is the one which will be filled with a few more flash bangs game-wise.
Strangely enough, I'm not sure they'll announce any new games. I think it's possible we'll get some release dates for existing titles or maybe some remasters, but nothing brand spanking new. I hope I'm terribly wrong on this of course.
That'll be one duffer of an announcement if it's just a remaster. I really don't understand why so many games that were in HD are being remastered at only a slightly higher rate of visual fidelity.
Although I enjoyed the trailer and the idea, I don't think there's really enough to warrant the price tag, especially when I've already got the remastered version on Steam. Though it might suit people who haven't got a digital version DN3D.
@SuperCat I would actually like to play a parody game of Everbody's Gone to the Pub.
There's a couple of things I'm worried about based on the gameplay I've seen.
Firstly, there are a lot of floating markers. There are markers for every gun, markers for cash that falls out of people, markers for distance away from an objective. It really looks cluttered.
The second is that Lincoln has Arkham detective mode (or Clay-vision if you will) and it felt really bizarre seeing it for the type of game it is.
Hmm... I can't help but think it might actually happen before number 3 releases, or even alongside it. The Kickstarter has been a huge success so they have actual numbers as to how many people would be interested.
There was a trail of small clues leading up to the announcement of number 3, and I think there's a similar thing happening here. Sega is talking about this a lot more than they ever used to, and in a more transparent fashion to boot.
If not, they'll look and see how Shenmue 3 does. If it's successful, you can bet you're arse they'll do it.
@get2sammyb I'm with you man. I really loved Season 2 as well. Not sure why it didn't get the same love.
The one thing I am a bit concerned about is that a few people have moved on from TellTale who were responsible for TWD... and TellTale's engine. Update that sh*t already!
But those quibbles aside, I'm glad we get to play as Clem again.
Never understood the dual nature of forced shock vs. sexual knowledge when it comes to sexual content in media, especially in the UK.
Although the context of this update is a bit weird, this is really tame. Also, let's not give it that much credit - it's not as fun as the porn or hentai I'm sure several of us have enjoyed throughout the years. Although I guess the interactive part is a nice touch for those that want it.
Those digital ports of Symphony of the Night are amazing. They've removed all the ridiculous loading times and kept what is an astonishing game, and one of the best ever made.
I must be the one person who didn't have it crash on them! I'm like that guy at the end of an epic battle move who's the last one standing. It feels glorious.
@Draythedestroyer The reason it sounded incomplete is because there was no official news and the whole story wasn't reported. Ironically a proper expansion wasn't expected until we had the full news.
