Re: Call of Duty: WWII Official Reveal Trailer Brings a Big Budget

Churchy

I'm potentially interested, but I'll need to see more. Namely, I want to see standard gameplay running and details on what the mechanics of multi-player are going to be. Is this the same game with a different skin? Or are they going to change quite a lot? Or possibly strip it down a bit?

Re: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Leaves Season Pass in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Churchy

I think thats's the thing, because it's EA everyone is wondering if they're going to replace it with something even worse. But here's hoping it works out for the best.

The trailer for this story mode feels a bit generic, but here's hoping the game looks good. Plus, for story stuff we still have the game Amy Hennig is working on.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Should Pinch the Nintendo Direct Format

Churchy

Maybe I'm an old stickler, but I do prefer the bigger press conferences. But I actually think Sony has started doing something of their own by introducing PSX. They've started a precedent for E3 and PSX both bringing exciting announcements so I think they're already doing their own take on spreading things out.

I do like Nintendo Directs for some things. They can put a lot of personality into the videos and put it out there instantly. But it also has its drawbacks. You can risk spreading yourself too thin when detailing announcements, and sometimes the comedy aspect can override the announcements. With the E3 Direct in 2015, the comedy stuff surrounding it was better than the actual announcements.

To be honest I hope they keep the E3 and PSX conferences. Maybe one in the Spring would be good, but I can't help but always look forward to the big build up to larger conferences. And with last year's PSX, and the last two E3 conferences, Sony have knocked it out the park.

Re: Warriors All-Stars Is a Musou Mash-Up for PS4

@get2sammyb It's good to see that justice shall prevail. Although the response of no one else wanting to did give me a good chuckle!

I think the most random addition to this is Opoona, even though I do like the obscurity of it.

Re: Quantum Break Maker Adds PS4 Support to Game Engine

Churchy

I see this as quite an interesting shift considering their last games released first on Microsoft platforms. I would say more recent games but with Remedy that doesn't exactly apply, as much as I love them.

I'll also back @BAMozzy up on Alan Wake. Its strongest aspect was its narrative for sure, and there are some moments of genius near the end of it.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time for Sony to Take PS4 Pro Seriously?

Churchy

It's a strange one for sure. Microsoft got off to a bad start with the Xbox One initially so it makes sense for them to go all in on Scorpio. Whereas Sony has done really well with the PS4 so far, so I think they may have been afraid of upsetting some of their audience.

I think things will become a lot more clear when Microsoft show their full hand with Scorpio. Hardware is nice but if it doesn't have titles that are either exclusive, or obviously best on Scorpio (or possibly an extension of their game subscription service), I find it hard to believe there will be a huge early adoption of it.

But with all of these hardware upgrades I can't help but think we're in a sort of space race Cold War situation.

Re: A Brand New Naruto Game Is in the Works on PS4

Churchy

@FullbringIchigo Yeah, the world was more open in the first one. It's a shame why they dropped it afterwards. However, I love the soundtrack in the Ninja Storm series, especially number two.

Yeah, it is a bit hard to tell what they're going for as they're talking about freedom of movement in the trailer. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it's going to be more of an arena fighter but I'm not entirely sure. Only time will tell!

Hmm, in that case this might still be a ways off, unless they've had access to a lot of what's going on in the manga and/or anime.

It's going to be fun to find out!

Re: A Brand New Naruto Game Is in the Works on PS4

Churchy

@FullbringIchigo I definitely agree that The Broken Bond is the better of the two, and it's hard to go back to Rise of a Ninja after that; they improved a lot about it. I think for me it's more about the direction and feel of the game. I liked having Naruto as a more open-world game, as it felt more like I was in that world, and I enjoyed the fighting system; it felt like you had more agency as a player in the fights, whereas the Ninja Storm series felt a bit more closed in that way. Ninja Storm feels a bit more straightforward and is about the spectacle, which is fine, it just depends on what you prefer in terms of the approach to fighting and exploration.

I didn't know that about the series licenses, and I wondered why that was the case, so thank you for the explanation; it fills it on why everything was so messy then!

Either way, we can both agree on our excitement on this upcoming game. Who knows, we might get in a game or two if it turns out to be good!

Re: Sonic Forces Is Looking Kinda Rad in First Footage

Churchy

Yes! I always loved the daytime levels in Unleashed and Sonic Generations so I'm all for this!

I actually thought the writing was quite good in Sonic Generations with some of the humour, so hopefully they'll maintain some of that if they choose to keep a sense of narrative.

Re: PlayStation's Still Patting Nintendo on the Back

Churchy

I actually prefer this attitude a lot more to the cut-throat approach in the 90s. I remember the journalist Kyle Bosman recalling that Shuhei Yoshida was really excited about Zelda at the last E3, so expect more of this friendly approach in the future. I'm all for it!

Re: Sunset Overdrive Could Grind Again on PS4

Churchy

Sunset Overdrive is fantastic. I bought an Xbox One for it (which I later sold) and it is amazing. I'd happily buy it again and it's a shame it didn't get the fanfare it rightfully deserves.

Two words sum up the experience for me: "PIGEON COMBO!"

Re: The Thirst for Crash Bandicoot PS4 Is Real

Churchy

I think it's always going to sell well in the UK. PlayStation always seemed to be in sync with the British public. Of course, they marketed it well but for some reason the UK often is a PlayStation place if you will. And naturally, Crash Bandicoot is seen is one of THE games for the system.
