Re: Mortal Kombat 11 - Making One Fatal Mistake

DerMeister

I don't feel like cancelling my pre-order, especially since I can get it today, but it's a shame they mucked up the grind. From what it sounds, they've basically took Injustice 2's formula and slowed the heck out of it down. Injustice was very generous and rather nice with it's loot box mechanic (I have way more than I know what to do with, and I've only recently booted it back up), which only had character customization items. Now they've broke what didn't need fixing, it seems.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PS5?

DerMeister

I can only be so excited when all we have are specs, but those specs also paint a pretty good picture. Backwards Compatibility is there for those who want it, the technical aspect makes it seem like it'll be a monster of a console, and we still have discs for another generation.

I'm excited for the potential of it, but I'd need to see how games run on it before I go full on hype.

Re: Judgment Reveals Redesigned Yakuza Captain Following Previous Actor's Drug Use Allegations

DerMeister

@RogerRoger @Sevenifity I think it's considered a farce only because it's a harsh punishment for something that's pretty minor compared to other crimes. For example, Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of Rurouni Kenshin, was caught with child pornography. His punishment was as far as I can tell, only a 200,000 yen fine (about 1,870 USD), and his series resumed publication. The titular character even appeared in Jump Force this year. In the west, this would be a career destroyer, and his series probably would be erased from publication.

I don't support drug use, I'm only willing to live and let live if people don't abuse it. But there's far worse you can do to get your career wrecked.

Re: Talking Point: Should All Games Have an Easy Mode?

DerMeister

It basically depends on the game.

Considering how many games have different difficulty options, I don't see FromSoft's set difficulty games as a bad thing. Aside from copycats, they're really the only ones out of the major names that really do it. The only other ones I can name are the Crash remakes.

To kinda follow on @mookysam's point, I've been playing a ton of Devil May Cry 5 (Which does have an easy mode) recently, and my household is somewhat interested in it, but I usually can't recommend it to them because they have arthritis, of varying seriousness. I'm personally not disabled (yet), but I do have a history of hand related issues and injured my wrist almost two months ago. While easy mode isn't a perfect solution to this particular issue, it is something I'll need to consider if my hands get worse over time and still want to play my action games.

In summation, I don't think it's bad to have a few difficult games when there's so many out there that have the option to choose your level of challenge.

Re: Reaction: State of Play Can and Will Be Great Assuming Sony Sticks with It

DerMeister

While the VR announcements don't do much for me, I think it's great they're still supporting it. Years back, a lot of people even here said it would just be a fad or a project that Sony would abandon, but they're sticking to it and it's great. They want it to succeed.

All the people who want Last of Us and Ghost of Tsushima need to be patient. Their time will come.

Re: Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human Heading to PC

DerMeister

@PS_Nation You need to calm down about this. Seriously. I highly doubt Sony would go the Microsoft route fully and have every exclusive for PC.

Look at it this way: Sony have a thing for recognizing their competitor's weaknesses and taking advantage of it. I'm sure you saw the PS4 reveal and maybe even heard the story of them going with discs instead of cartridges. I'm sure they look at Microsoft and see what to do and what not to do, like any other multi million dollar business.

Have some faith, man. A few decent games suddenly not being exclusive isn't the death of a gaming brand.

Re: Poll: Do You Think Google Stadia and Streaming Are the Future of Video Games?

DerMeister

If it's the future, it should be in the far off, distant future rather than the immediate one. I can't get fully behind the idea of solely streaming video games in order to play them unless it's 100% stable, no matter how interesting the concept is. Even then, I'd honestly rather have personal ownership of the games rather than having them as long as a licence exists.

If it has to be there, at least let me purchase a game digitally, rather than having to rely on a network just to play.

Re: Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human Heading to PC

DerMeister

@Gamer4Lyfe So I ask how many PC owners play games? PCs are just computers. Literally anyone can have one for any reason. Gaming consoles however are generally used for just that. There's also all the work and upkeep needed for the optimization of the games, which a lot of people aren't willing to do.

Maybe I'm just not a loyalist or whatever. I know exclusives are important, I just don't care as long as I'm able to play it. I'm not gonna lose sleep over Sony losing money when they have plenty of other exclusives and I still have something to play them on. If I want Detroit, I have a PS4, so I can just get it.

Re: Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human Heading to PC

DerMeister

So much doomsaying here.

I don't like Quantic Dream, so I wouldn't care regardless, but why be upset about it going to PC? I thought the PC market was it's own thing, and it's not as common to have a PC compared to a console. Add in the amount of PS4 users, and it doesn't seem like a major loss. It's still technically a console exclusive (as in, it's the only console you can get it if you don't have a PC).

Even then, so what? What matters is being able to play it, if you ask me.

Re: GT Goku Officially Revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ

DerMeister

I want a more diverse roster design wise. Goku may be the franchise face, but having too many versions of him just looks stale. It's like after Jiren and Videl, we already hit the quota for different characters.

And while I personally didn't have any issue with GT, it's loathed by a good enough portion of the fanbase, which makes me wonder why they got a character from it. But even so, they could have gotten someone like Omega Shenron or even Pan instead.

And I can swing my power pole any way I please, thanks.
