Re: Video: Our Most Anticipated PS5 Games Of Late 2024

EfYI

One game eclipses everything:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

The world they created is so real and grounded in our knowledge of European history and culture. The attention to detail in architecture alone has made Kingdom Come-tourism a thing and people are posting their visits to in-game locations.

I have myself recently been to Poland and visited an old and still functioning bee-farm and apple orchard, and I felt taken back to the aesthetics of KCD. I am looking forward to really taking my time with this title as the first one received plenty of cool DLC. This time I am jumping right in day one - it'll make for a different experience for sure.

Other worthy mentions:

PSVR2 titles Alien Incursion and Metro -
if they are good I will relapse into VR gameplay something that flatscreen experiences has wrestled me away from ATM.

Dragon Age: Veilguard - I remain sceptical about the gameplay of this title and how it would affect the story, but I will be picking this up if the quality of the game is deemed high enough by reviewers.

Star Wars Outcast - my backup if Veilguard isn't up to par with Inquisition. I like the idea of an immersive world where my adventures level up my playing experience.

Metaverse Phantasio (title incorrect) - Atlus has my attention after the great Royal Persona 5. If the game is a 9/10 or better I will, instead of an eventual replay of Persona with focus on Royal characters, delve into a new experience altogether.
If one or more of these titles simply don't cut it I have a backlog of yet-to-own titles including Jedi Survivor, Spider-Man 2 and GOW: Ragnarok. No Man's Sky VR, Dragon's Dogma 2, FF 7: Rebirth, Legendary Tales VR, Shin Megamix Tensei 5, Citizen Sleeper, and the list is long with many VR titles I want to give a try.

TOO MANY GAMES

Re: PS Portal Update 3.0.1 Allows Connection to 5GHz Public WiFi, Here Are the Patch Notes

EfYI

My brother has this device and really likes it. I play on my good phone both in home and on holiday. I play games that are suitable for this: used to be Slay The Spire and is now X-COM 2 WOTC.

Remote Play is great and has been for a while. It is by far my favorite feature of the PlayStation brand. I fear the day they paywall the feature, but for now it is cool every time I breach the black wall and play with my home console away from home.

Re: Deals: PSVR2 Price Gets a Hefty Cut at Numerous UK Retailers

EfYI

What an attractive price point!

Let me recommend you, dear reader, to join the club and partake in a novel way to game.

  • Gran Turismo 7 is an absolute must-have
  • Resident Evil 8 and 4 if you can figure out the puzzles and where to go, respectively.
  • Pistol Whip is kinda fun, mostly in a party setup or as a fun little break from something else.

Many others are good too, but it won't replace your flatscreen gaming altogether if you are a bit lazy.

Re: Gacha Spinoff Persona 5: The Phantom X Coming to Console, with More on the Way

EfYI

@RudeAnimat0r
Fair point. Question still remains are they funded to a degree where they can ignore the creative task that is P6?

With projects like these, I think P6 moves further away in the horizon, but again fair point that Atlus ITSELF are occupied with new IP.

I am sick and tired of the word "Chinese developers" at this point. It is becoming synonymous with gacha-games, it will be to their great detriment if I could help it. Imagine the controversy concerning the use of the term JRPGs, and then you know what will happen everyone associates Chinese developers with gacha garbage. Hopefully, their cries of lament will last as long as Genshin has existed.

Re: Marvel Rivals' Closed Beta Is Putting Concord's Player Numbers into Perspective

EfYI

Concord has a cool feature:

The player owns Concord, Concord does not own the player. Therefore, no Battle Pass. Of course, that may well be the reason they're charging for all 6 'seasons' planned (ballpark figure).

I wonder if SONY will ever regret pissing off a core consumer like me, having been around since gen 1 I think it is embarrassing to see their decision making and the consequences they wreak.

I am also a little embarrassed by the journalists salesmen pushing addiction. They used to be better and on the consumer's side in a much more believable way.

Re: Gacha Spinoff Persona 5: The Phantom X Coming to Console, with More on the Way

EfYI

Now, people cannot get away with saying that being against gacha with its predatory and mindnumbing gameplay and story is wrong.

It is right! Persona 6 is further away because of such aberrations like this.

For me, the wait (for ps6) won't be too bad as I am a newcomer to the series. I could try Shin Tensemi(sp) or an older Persona game, but I feel sorry for those young kids who will get addicted to these types of addictionware

Re: The Humble Games Team Has Reportedly Been Laid Off

EfYI

Humble Games is a huge loss, because Slay The Spire is one of the best games I've had the pleasure of playing.

So many in here attack me in the comments because I react to all these incredibly talented teams get laid off with sadness of what takes their place.

Gacha games are being pushed in a major way by less-than-credible sources, also in here.

They are designed to pull as much time out of you as possible and to convince you to spend to get what is talked about in a current meta.

The year is halfway through and what a ***** one it has been indeed.

Re: PS5 Pro Is Seemingly Starting to Appear in Source Code

EfYI

1. I'm not impressed with current games' usage of PS5. This alone warrants I stick to the PS5.
2. I still don't believe it will come soon, I will however show more respect toward your 'professional' opinion. You are quite insistent without leaking anything yourselves. If you don't know for sure, and it does appear at TGS, then I have to say kudos.
3. Current trends considered I will sell my ps5 when ps6 comes and buy the PS5 pro. It will be capable of playing PS6 games waaaaaaay into the future. I might end up spending less than 200 dollars on this method for an upgrade.

Re: There's Already Concern Over Concord's Player Count as Open Beta Begins

EfYI

@pharos_haven

Say that to the developers of Factions 2, Days Gone 2 and Disco Elysium 2 😭

I feel you, but I realise that in a saturated market it can help to vote with your wallet - and commentary isn't exclusive in nature, so my opinion might matter, but it is a drop in an ocean.

And I could be a better voter (spend more money towards my kind of creative outlet) but I've seen the vocal gacha fans and it's literally making this kidult angry 😑

Re: There's Already Concern Over Concord's Player Count as Open Beta Begins

EfYI

@pharos_haven Why are you choosing such a restrictive verb?

Sony are somehow promoting a tonne of weird gacha games as evident in the flow of news and latest state of play. There's just too much of it! People are seriously saying these are good games, and I am thinking what manner of intellect are we talking here? Peppa the Pig has more creative worth than Genshin and the many aberrations that followed.

Re: Doubt Cast Over PS5 Pro Actually Releasing This Year

EfYI

I called it out as an obvious lie that the Pro could come this year. I simply can't believe it would happen so early. If it did it would mean we could see many iterations of PS5 so much that a 6 would matter so little, and why would you kill off such a brand. I'm surprised the notion has even been entertained by such brilliant columnists as those on this very site. blinks

Re: There's Already Concern Over Concord's Player Count as Open Beta Begins

EfYI

Also!!!

How big a scam is failgames? MUCH bigger than that metal gear solid-dude with reused assets....

The reveal of their game was made by another hired company!

They've existed for years and they have ONE post about subscribing to them for updates - there are abso-effen-lutely no updates, because they just needed the followers to SEEM successful.

And Jade Raymond!? She has convinced the world she had a substantial role to play in creating Assassin's Creed. No, she absolutely did not have any real creative influence. I don't believe a single word coming out of her resumΓ©. I do believe that she had everything to do with coming up with the sure-to-fail Fairgame$

Re: There's Already Concern Over Concord's Player Count as Open Beta Begins

EfYI

It would probably be best for me if Concord arrived dead on arrival. That would mean that Sony could maybe sober up on their hideous strategy of gacha games and live service. If Concord fails then imagine how big failgames will ... fail.

Fairgames had always been a complete and utter scam pulled off by someone (her) fooling the senile Jim Ryan. That studio has to die ASAP.

Back to singleplayer guys! The charity given towards those would develop predatory and mindless live service gotcha games have got to end.

I understand how many might think I am over exaggerating and maybe the plan is to have some live service to help fund other projects perhaps more suited for me, but that could also be a fallacy. If a SP game could fund another SP think that is more synergistic.

Re: Development Teams 'Saddened' by Demoralising Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Leak

EfYI

People are selfish.

They torrent files which is stealing - and we are not talking about taking a loaf of bread. They might be 'poor' but it is a luxury item to have a capable gaming machine, so I call BS on that.

They steal valuable IP to gain leverage and knowledge in the community and might even weaponise their insights to make the product less valuable and spoiled for others. Selfish and vile behaviour.

The only thing that can excuse these any leaking is if the plot is that f****** Abby takes Joel out golfing again. I avoided that spoiler, but ironically that is the one spoiler I would have loved to know, so I could make an informed consumer decision.

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony Right to Resist Adding PS5 Exclusives to PS Plus Day One?

EfYI

@Flaming_Kaiser

Okay - yeah, so I am talking about adding games to the service after a while when data suggests that even deep sales have stopped selling. And I haven't really heard developers aside from Larian that they'd avoid the service (and they might have talked about Game Pass).

Take Mount and Blade II for instance. Came to PS Plus and made me wanna sub because even the deep sales have not been enough for me to pull the trigger and buy it. Or Days Gone - it sold 15 million and made a headline for the line up in PS Plus (or the game library that existed as a form of beta library).

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony Right to Resist Adding PS5 Exclusives to PS Plus Day One?

EfYI

PS PLUS has been a smashing success in my opinion competing with Game Pass who allowed cheap conversion and stacking to an extremely generous degree.

What it did for my whilst subbing was giving me a chance to play a lot of different games and genres that I've missed out on. I do wonder if they hit the right pricing, because I stopped subbing after the price hike. But that's the thing, now that Game Pass is becoming less attractive, the scales will til slightly, and I predict that PS PLUS will see grow numbers that reflect this.

If Microsoft can offer the console experience via a firestick plug-in, they may also grow alongside SONY, but they'll mainly be software makers and publishers of admittedly a wealth of titles from a wealth of studios.

I don't buy a doom and gloom-interpretation for SONY. And Microsoft also proved this summer that they can offer a rich and interesting plate of titles that is enticing to all players. I think that in a perfect world both companies can find success.

Re: Gacha Sensation Zenless Zone Zero Surpasses 50 Million Downloads Across All Platforms

EfYI

@PuppetMaster

Well, that's your opinion. Mine is different.

Take the last state of play. Nothing but ***** anime - gacha gaming, or at least that's my most base of reactions. Taking a step back I can appreciate a dress-up game for the girls and so on. But nothing for me. That is the facts of the matter. SONY funding Haven took funding away from others. Concord is not for me. The list goes on. We have a right to our opinion and the argument of throttling is sound.

Re: Gacha Sensation Zenless Zone Zero Surpasses 50 Million Downloads Across All Platforms

EfYI

@Bentleyma
Yeah okay, maybe not killing, but throttling? Like people lose their jobs in SP development because of supply and demand. Or games and DLC are scrapped. There could be many direct and indirect consequences. How does the rest of the argument go? That games as a service throttles the bandwidth of developers and ties up consumer investment and interest. People stick to a few games like EA FC, Call of Duty, Genshin, GTA Online and so on. I guess an anime game is on par with games like these.

Re: Gacha Sensation Zenless Zone Zero Surpasses 50 Million Downloads Across All Platforms

EfYI

This absolute crap is what is killing the game industry. I agree with Mikey.

I hate greedy companies who administer predatory practices as much as Larian's boss does.

It is not surprising to see Sammy defend his digital crack, but buyer beware: He is most probably hooked on Gacha gaming both financially as an influencer and as a gamer (addictive mechanics).

In other news, GTA 5 got more ***** online stuff instead of SP-dlc which lends credibility to the point I'm trying to make. Bandwidth from SP games ARE taken and used for online stuff.

I don't really get the people who have spent so much money on GTA to dominate other players. I imagine them having a tough job, if any, and spending their time charging up playing the same game again and again. Your friends might be there online as well. It can be a tough loop to break, I imagine.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 536

EfYI

I fell back into Baldur's Gate 3 and arrived at the eponymous city. I love the combat but is starting to feel like the many, many story threads are ruffling each other's feathers.

So, I took a break to just challenge myself in honour modes with X-COM 2 no saves mode. It wiped me quite quickly. A devastating round saw my team downed to a man whilst still building my team. That's game over.

I realise I am not a brilliant tactician (tough realisation) and the depth of gameplay in both titles will continue to humble meπŸ˜‚

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Gets a Free Trial for a Limited Time on PS5

EfYI

I am very tempted.

Tried the old one really quick - like an hour or so, and it felt like a PS3 Action RPG. I have to temper expectations for this one - it has better graphics, it is all about the journey and it is still PS3-era combat combined with a fun climb-N-stab mechanic. If I'm wrong, tell me! The comment about it becoming a GOTY-contender if you like it is good advertisement πŸ‘

Re: Days Gone Team Apologises for 'False Hope' of PS5 Sequel After Misleading Headlines, Comments

EfYI

@ShogunRok

I don't know how you manage to read the tweet from John Garvin any other way than what the GamingBible reports. You are out of line by calling it egregious.

John Garvin wrote, and I quote, I can’t speak for @JakeRocket but sure … as you all know, I wrote a cliffhanger into the ending of #daysgone with the full intention of there being a trilogy (NOT just a sequel) I talk about it here youtu.be/ZRlySdBKXsU

So, you have some sort of agenda here assuming you read the article. Care to divulge?

Re: Days Gone Team Apologises for 'False Hope' of PS5 Sequel After Misleading Headlines, Comments

EfYI

It is a shame he doesn't direct his address to one particular source, as it can be seen as certain Bend developers need to kick down towards former employees that have a passion for a game that 9 million players share.

I don't know who this Kevin McAlister person is, who apparently is "cooking" a new IP up. He might end up estranging some of those 9 million players who'd rather fight zombie hordes. We could have had Days Gone 2 and right now we have no clue as to what will become of Bend.
