@Vovander to me the uniqueness of the universe already makes it stand out but this is a fair point. Remedy is a special studio but they don’t seem to connect with the wider audience with sales.
The entire embracer strategy seems asinine from the outside. Just waiting for them to unveil their genius plan behind their insane pace of acquisitions.
Predictable. If memory serves, PS4 Pro was also easy to get at launch and only became scarce months later. Curious if the 5 Pro follows the same trajectory.
@UltimateOtaku91 Played for about two hours it’s really enjoyable so far. The environments are awesome I wish all the LEGO games were made completely from LEGO
@NEStalgia I can’t wait for final fantasy XVII so we can argue for several months about whether it’s a final fantasy game. Always a super productive discussion.
Real shame. I have played Firewatch at least four times and I had the theme on my ps4 since the game released. Was really looking forward to Campo Santo’s next game. It was probably “better” for the devs and founders to be bought out but I can’t help but feel we lost out on a truly unique studio when it happened.
@Fiendish-Beaver Sony doesn’t talk much these articles are the first time there has been something to talk about for years. This would be a good time to do an interesting deep dive on a historical PlayStation topic though which I would love.
@Mikey856 pretty much like the PS4 pro was only worth it if you also had a 4k tv the 5 pro is only worth if if you have 4k vrr oled it seems. So far though forbidden west and GT7 are the most drastic I have played and both look great with the good tv.
@Cerny 🤣 we are done dude you are trying to hard your comment got deleted for being rude. It’s all good though have a good day may our next interaction be more positive 👍
@Northern_munkey Imma tell you right now I bought the pro and I’m not sure it’s worth it yet 🤣 I would get the steering wheel. I almost bought one because I cannot get the last license trophy in GT7 but I’m worried it would just sit there after.
Edit: also I am very frugal too I drive a 20 year old car and my coworkers always clown me for it but it starts and gets me to work so I will drive it until it dies 🤣
@Northern_munkey I feel like we are almost in line on our thinking. I personally would have stuck with the base if I couldn’t have bought the pro with one or two days salary. I admit I seem more conservative with spending. And I agree my dad was a super hard worker and we were always broke as a kid so I wouldn’t look down on it. That is why I am conservative spending now.
@Cerny I said it’s marketed to people who made that, which in the current economic state I think is fair. Especially when you consider investing into retirement, higher cost of living etc., $700 is a luxury item. You were rude to me about not being able to afford it that’s when I said my comment. Not bragging. Just saying you misunderstood me. I think $700 on a marginal upgrade is a luxury. I would not have bought a pro if it wasn’t well within my means. You are being really confrontational about nothing though so I think we are done here 🤣. Also a lot of people in my field start at 120k and spend money like mad and will be working until they die which is wild to me.
@Northern_munkey It is becoming clear to me that I do not think about money the same way as this comment thread 🤣. I consider my tv and PlayStation luxury items I would not buy if I wasn’t comfortable but it’s clear that’s not how most people view them so I will stand down.
@Cerny I would definitely categorize it as a luxury item, but maybe I am conservative with my money. You are unnecessarily condescending and I only brought up my income because you did and were very rude about it.
@Northern_munkey yea with current cost of living and state of retirement I would not buy a pro if I had to save up for it 🤣 maybe just my perspective though
@KoopaTheGamer $700 for a luxury electronic good is nothing though. A good tv is easily $1400. Consoles have been underpriced since the 90s. The Pro is not targeting people who finde $700 to be a huge expense. It’s targeting people who make that in a day or two working.
@DonJorginho Of all the things to complain about the price going up on optional consumer electronics makes the least sense. You don’t need a PS5 Pro. You need groceries.
@anoyonmus I will check it out! I get a weekly email from the state Bar with IP articles only a matter of time until I get a well researched article on it! Just bothers me with reporting in general is the lack of actual context followed by the comments section going off with random hot take opinions with no understanding. Such is life though.
@LavenderShroud Great observations. IP law walks a fine line to encourage innovation while protecting previous innovations. Palworld is a bad faith product in my opinion and if I owned Pokémon I would go after it as well. Also, like I previously said you are correct, the patent is likely infinitely more complex than the reporting on it.
@QwarktasticLombax You can pursue patent infringement after a product has launched in the U.S. That’s usually when it happens and if found guilty of infringement it’s a divestment of profits argument.
@Medic_alert Would also be tough to get those patents in the U.S. My understanding is patent prosecution in Japan is much more lax. Also possible in this situation is that a very simple version of the story has been reported and parroted so many times the actual crux of the lawsuit is completely lost. This actually happens a lot. Law is complicated and it’s much easier to farm SEO clicks with an article that has a basic rage inducing headline.
@N1ghtW1ng AI generated code, images, and writing isn’t even copyrightable yet in the U.S. Betting on that horse seems a little dangerous as of right now.
@NEStalgia it’s the algorithm. When I was a kid all we had were generic commercials. Now advertisers can target people specifically based on search history etc. it’s not good!
@NEStalgia It’s target audience grew up with extremely tailored advertising fed to them on a constant basis through their phones. They are extremely susceptible to this type of marketing. That’s my guess anyways.
@fbnaulin Unfortunately, Firewalk takes a lot of blame here. They had this game in development without Sony involvement for longer than Sony were involved. Can’t speak to Neon Koi I forgot they existed.

Re: In USA, the PS5 Pro Launched with Similar Sales to the PS4 Pro
@sd7232 At launch it was super easy to find. Got hard to find a few months later and then nearly impossible in the following years.

Cautiously optimistic for this one. Just seems like third person would have suited it better, but I am open to being proven wrong.
