Strange that they don’t have level/mission select like the older games. It’s like when they removed character creation from the LEGO Star Wars Saga game. That was a feature my Nephews enjoyed most and they still play LEGO Villains (and one of the Marvel games) for the character creation even now. They haven’t touched LEGO Star Wars since they finished the main story.
I only really knew Snoop from the movie Pitch Perfect 2 (‘Groovy like a drive-in movie!’ 😎). But I recognise some of his older songs. Ice Spice, I don’t know her. M&M, I don’t want to know her.
The rappers are front and centre in the trailer but you can ignore them for the most part in the actual game.
Most of the locations are the same as they were originally. And it’s great to be back on the best map with the best weapons.
@KundaliniRising333 but the number of gamers visiting gaming sites like this one are a minority of the overall number of gamers. So 80% of the minority are ‘haters for the sake of hating.’
You’ll find the majority of people visiting sites like this one are overwhelmingly anti-live service (and view live service games as a cancer of the gaming industry). So their opinion is heavily biased and the result of the poll isn’t surprising in the least.
Most of the people voting haven’t played it and don’t intend to play it (watching videos on YouTube doesn’t count).
If Push Square published reviews without playing a game but based on watching a few videos on YouTube, we’d all think it was dumb. Because it is. How can you review a game (or form an opinion of it) without playing it?
So many people want to hate this game. Live service… 😭 Not Single player only… 😭 The heroes are the bad guys… 😭 But I’ve played it and it’s actually quite good.
Like I say to my four year old niece when she won’t eat her vegetables, ‘how do you know you don’t like something, if you haven’t even tried it?’
@CJD87 the award shows (and awards) are pretty meaningless anyway. Who even remembers what games won which awards in 2020, without looking it up? Nobody cares.
Given the choice between wining a pointless award and selling 22 million copies (so far), I'm sure they’d choose the sales every time.
I know it’s only a tenner for the upgrade but I think I’ll wait for a sale all the same. I’m not in any rush to replay Part 2. It’s a pretty miserable game with no likeable characters. I still love Part 1 though.
@IAmAshCohen17 I don’t think it will be that bad tbh. I can’t speak for everyone but I had zero emotional connection to Pascal’s Joel. Same with Ramsey’s Ellie. The only character I felt any kind of emotion for was Bill (Offerman was amazing as always) and his story is done.
Yay, Tomb Raider made the top 10. It’s probably the only game I’ll buy in the first half of the year. None of the others are speaking to me yet, other than Star Wars.
Glad Spider-man 2 won - it was so good. Also glad to see Hogwarts Legacy get a mention too - definitely one of the best game I played this year. I think Avatar released too late to get a mention but I would put it in my top five - probably the best looking open world game on PS5.
Signed my Nephew up at the beginning of November (knowing I was getting him psn vouchers for Christmas). Received an email from Sony to say he was on a ‘waiting list’… why? Why are there waiting lists for PS Stars? They probably know people will be getting vouchers for Christmas and don’t want to pay out the points. We still haven’t heard anything from Sony to say my Nephew is a member and it’s been two months.
Playing Avatar at the minute and it’s one of the most beautiful open world games I’ve ever played. The attention to detail is immense. It feels like a living, breathing world with a fully realised ecosystem. It’s one of the things I always loved about the Avatar movies.
@Pikki the problem with that is, there have been 1,762 skins in Fortnite so far. Some of them are from battle passes (which never return) but having 1,500+ skins in the item shop at the same time wouldn’t work for obvious reasons.
It’s crazy to think ND were once Sony’s best studio. And now they’re reduced to remaking/remastering their own games and wasting years on failed live-service games. Sad to see.
They can have Indiana Jones tbh. As long as MS keep their mitts off Tomb Raider, I’m fine with this. I don’t think Indiana Jones is even popular anymore is it? Good luck to them.
I like Rocket Racing but it feels like a distraction, rather than a fully realised game. That’s ok though because I don’t have time to play all of these games. As something you can just pick up and play a few races here and there, it’s actually really fun.
The Battle Royale skins are still ‘good’ value (especially now that you can use the skins in LEGO Fortnite). But the prices of the cars are outrageous. The Festival pass should be 1,000 vbucks too, not 1,800.
@UltimateOtaku91 I think it being first person is an issue. I don’t mind first person games but I know a lot of people who won’t even try a game if it’s first person.
It should have won something. I don’t know a single person who has played Baldurs Gate 3 or Alan Wake 2. Definitely some snobbery going on because it’s Marvel. Same with Fortnite. How can Cyberpunk win ‘Best ongoing game’ when all CDPR have done is fix a game that was released in a broken mess at launch?
@PixelDragon I don’t speak for all gamers though. Just me 😁
Maybe once I see some reviews (or more coverage) I might change my mind but as of right now, I don’t look at this list and think, ‘OMG I can’t wait for that!’ Well, with the exception of Tomb Raider because it’s my favourite gaming franchise. But that’s only a remake of the first three games, not a new TR game (which would be ‘OMG I can’t wait for that!’).
But I’m not one of the ‘complaining gamers’ and don’t need every new game to reinvent the wheel. I’d happily play a new Assassins Creed game every year and would never get bored.
I feel like Sony need to reveal their release schedule for the whole year so we know what to expect. A ‘low-key’ start to the year isn’t as bad if we know there are some heavy hitters coming further down the line.
There’s nothing really except Tomb Raider 1-3, Star Wars Outlaws and Suicide Squad. Next year is looking pretty terrible for big game releases. Hopefully there are some surprises. Otherwise, the only games I’ll be playing next year (except for the three I mentioned) are F2P games.
I was planning on playing Avatar this weekend but I’ve mostly been playing LEGO Fortnite. I think I’ll be playing a lot of LEGO Fortnite going forward. Already played 10-15 hours so far - it’s so addictive. Seems to have been a huge success too - there have been at least 2 million players every time I’ve logged in since launch.
I’m also chipping away at the new Dreamlight Valley expansion and Christmas Star Path. The new island is amazing. Hope there are more expansions in the future.
Finally, Disney Speedstorm and the new Frozen season. Only started playing this game last month but it’s really fun. I don’t usually enjoy racing games but this one is great.
Only played one race (and the tutorial) but it wouldn’t let me in any other races after that.
I thought what little I played was alright but I’m not a big racing fan really. The only racing game I’ve gotten into is Disney Speedstorm. I’ll need to give Rocket Racing a few more tries before I make up my mind. I will say that 4,000 vbucks for a vehicle skin is ridiculous though.
But I do think it’s crazy impressive what Epic games has delivered with all these new games in such a short space of time.
Love the movies and can’t wait to play the game. My copy arrived today - I’ve installed it but I haven’t had a chance to start it yet. I platinumed the PS3 Avatar game three times and from what I’ve seen so far, this game is so much better. Dream come true for us Avatar fans. Wish we were getting an Avatar collab in Fortnite though.
I would buy this game even if it had 1’s across the board. It’s Avatar. That’s all that matters and is absolutely the main draw for me. If it’s ‘Far Cry with an Avatar skin’ even better. I love Far Cry too.
I’ll be rewatching the movies tonight in preparation for the game arriving tomorrow 😁
I knew it wouldn’t be 2024 😫 They did this with GTA5, releasing screenshots for about 18 months beforehand. It was a bit much. It does look good though from this trailer.
This all looks insane. Between Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, Dreamlight Valley and Speedstorm, I’ll never have time to play anything else 😂
Disney Speedstorm I don’t Usually like racing games but I’m hooked on this one. The new season is great so far.
Dreamlight Valley getting ready for the new update and expansion next week. Can’t wait 😁
Robocop: Rogue City fans of Robocop will love this game. I’m enjoying it but not as much as Terminator: Resistance - I always preferred the Terminator movies though.

The Prelude event was awful though.
Re: Fortnite's Rocket Racing Seems to Be Running Out of Gas on PS5, PS4
I like it but it’s too repetitive. Once you’ve done a few races it’s kinda boring. I do come back to it every now and again though.

Really enjoying the game so far. Much better than I thought it would be.
The incessant moaning from people who are never going to play it (and who were never going to play it) is hilarious 😂

Re: The Last of Us Season 2 Casting Continues with Isabela Merced Set to Play Dina
Wish they had made better casting choices for Joel and Ellie. It’s hard to be excited about this new season when the first one was so lacklustre.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Hogwarts Legacy Is the Country's Biggest Boxed Release of 2023
Loved this game. If Avatar hadn’t come out in December, Hogwarts Legacy would have been my favourite game this year.
I did my first 100% playthrough as a ‘good’ character. But I want to replay the game again this year as a ‘bad’ character.
Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

Spider-Man 2 was great. The final hours of the game were crazy good. Well deserving of GOTY (if it is… 👀).
Re: Game of the Year: #9 - Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
I enjoyed it but it’s biggest weakness was it’s story.
The first game left me wanting more but whilst the sequel was fun, it was also completely forgettable.
There were definitely improvements over the first game but the story was a huge downgrade imo.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Open World Game of 2023

1. Fortnite
2. Dreamlight Valley
3. Disney Speedstorm
4. Hogwarts Legacy
5. Jedi Survivor

Fixing a game that was absolutely broken at launch does not make a game ‘ongoing’ (Cyberpunk).
