Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

@Cloud39472 Yasuke was a one off oddity that stands out. He's not a natural selection for a Japanese AC at all or the way they interact with so much of history. The fact that a one-off oddity that is being based on one real person (no one person was used for a character before) to justify shows this.
You should be pulling from a group of many examples in history to make an AC protagonist.
It's a square in a round hole even if the square existed one time.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Jaz007

@themightyant This goes beyond creative liberties at a point. Part AC history is to use real people as NPCs that fits in the history, hence why the MC(s) should be a fictional Japanese character. Yasuke should be in the game as an NPC that's an ode to his real role in history.
AC has been playing too loose with history for a while now. Some fiction doesn't justify just ignoring history and I don't except much love or accuracy for history from the game in general.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

@Ravix No, the tank shouldn't be there. I also protest a Samurai being playable at all. The trailer also has Yasuke be handed a note about secret stuff and then a little girl naturally gawks at him, making him a poor choice for Shadow stuff.
AC having a tank character in of itself is definitely poor form.
I've actually been pretty consistently upset with every AC game but Mirage for a while now for many historical, RPG, non-assassin, not being what AC is about, etc reasons.

@UltimateOtaku91 @Korgon It's taken great efforts to use real history and to be accurate in many ways in the past. Every single protagonist in the past has been a character that ethnically belonged and that would reasonable blend in as the creed demands. Arab, Italian, Egyptian, Native American, British, French, etc have all been used before. No one complained because they all made sense and were accurate and normal.
Yasuke being real also goes against series history.
Playing as Tom Cruise in this instance, despite the Last Samurai being a great movie, would also be horrificly dumb.

Yasuke being a shadowy figure who's doing a bunch of Assassin stuff is just ridiculous on its face. I also think Nobunaga liked to show him off because he was different.
Nor have any of them been real people. It's very odd and goes against AC's premise.
I'll also say not only should Yasuke be removed as a playable character, playing as a Samurai should also be removed entirely as well as that's also missing the point.

Re: GreedFall 2 May Not Be the Game You Think It Is

That kind of combat is a horrible bastardization of what inspired it (turn based TTRPG) and should be banned from being in any game again. Origin’s combat makes the gameplay such a chore next to amazing writing and role-playing.
Needless to say, this makes me a lot less interested lol.

Re: Shift Up Director Puts Stellar Blade, Sony Costume Conspiracy to Bed

Jaz007

@NEStalgia Yep, why did the game go gold if the vision wasn’t complete or finished? Doesn’t sound very gold to me.
Also, considering the anime stuff censorship (no nudity to start) while we have dong sliders, I don’t accept “it doesn’t make sense because other stuff is worse” as an argument.
None of Sony’s censorship makes sense or is reasonable to begin with. “No explicit nudity”, boom, makes sense and is easy to follow as a rule. No wondering if your game gets accepted and comes across as reasonable and easy tot work around. No such logic exists.

Re: Helldivers 2 CEO Praises 'Willpower' of Community in Sony Showdown

Jaz007

I didn’t see the big deal, but I might be biased from having a PSN since I bought myself a PS3 as a kid, but I hope this energy can be used for good things in the future.
There’s been a 60,000 uptick in positive reviews in the last day, so people are trying to respond gracefully now that the demands have been met.

Re: Helldivers 2 Is Already One of Sony's Best-Ever Sellers in the US

Jaz007

@ChrisDeku You know what “you” inferre in that sentence or anyone normal person would, it’s a shame (only you this time) you lack basic inference.
You really are being stuck up if you think almost anyone doesn’t get the satire and just enjoys it how they want anyway. It’s almost like art take a life of it’s own sometimes.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

@DennisReynolds Dude, censorship doesn’t mean “removing something bad” it means removing something because it upsets some sort of sensibility. If a word doesn’t sound nice, it no longer applies the moment you think you’re in the right even if it’s the same thing is not how words work. Or not how they should anyway.
You like censorship, just admit it.
That or words change their meaning dynamically to make you look better.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

@DennisReynolds We can know through reason and prudence. In fact, all situations with a vague similarity are not the same and don’t need to be treated the same. There’s been a pattern here and we all know there’s not a good reason to think “but muh Spider-Man” is the same thing.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

@NotoriousWhiz Tell the slippery slope is false to Japanese devs who have no idea of their game will be sold on PlayStation (while having no duty) while CyberPunk and Baldur’s Gate have a dong slider. (Which for point of reference, I think disallowing something that extreme as a clear company policy is reasonable, clear being an operative word).

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

Jaz007

This is wrong. If it was already intended, it should not have gone gold.
This is changing the product bought, not updating, changing and taking away.
They should have added an “alt” version to choose, not removed the original.
For context, I prefer the one of the right (post-patch) and think it’s more tasteful. However, the game went gold, and they sold it. This is important for them to understand. I’m not sure I believe him and I don’t side with him.

Re: Sexy Lara Croft Posters Will Return in Next Tomb Raider Remastered Patch

Jaz007

@nomither6 It’s also nonsensical. If they weren’t in the game already, wouldn’t necessarily argue for them frankly, but at the same time we have the weird stuff in BG3 and that’s fine. Stuff that actually “crosses a line” is fine so to speak, but anything more “normal” and is just a bit spicy and not terribly offensive is problematic.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Update Quietly Removes Sexy Lara Croft Pinups

Jaz007

Why? Keep it pixelated at worst? This is dumb, especially after it launched. They sold a product and are retracting it. Frankly, there should be laws against this. Supeehot VR had it really bad where they removed the suicide, first by making it optional in the menu, they patronizingly telling we deserved better and removing it entirely, you know, when no one asked for it.
