100% on Cyberpunk. It’s such a shame the game will always be tarnished by that mess of a launch but Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 in 2022 is an absolute gem. The way they built Night City and the characters living is only challenged by Witcher 3.
I know first impressions last but it’s shame so many is missing out on this gem. (It’s all CDPRs own fault, not saying anything else.)
Shame it was rushed, but such an excellent game. And that's coming as huge sceptic since I generally don't like first-person games. Looking forward to this expansion.
@KaijuKaiser All I can say is that you are certainly missing out on what is one of the best games in recent years. Did it have an absolute mess of a release? Yes. But today it's stable, runs great, and the world and characters they've built for this game is really hard to find better ones.
It’s really mind boggling it’s not on macOS either. All other streaming platforms are on it, and Remote Play is, but not Premium-streaming. And gaikai, the platform that PS Now was built on, was running on macs. Just doesn’t make any sense.
Mobile games that are included in PS Plus Premium subscription. Doesn't need to be massively AAA games, but maybe looking at what Netflix is trying to do, but with Sony IPs.
I don’t think different games are really the way to go for Premium, they really don’t seem to have the content to keep Extra interesting if they put too much into Premium.
Instead, Premium should try to carve out other features. Like a permanent discount on games, better streaming options like being able to use PS Now tech to stream every game you own, not just the ones included in the service and so on.
No denying the original game had a lot of issues at launch, but in it's current state I find it one of the more enjoyable games of the last couple of years. So I'm looking forward to learning more.
I do say though that this sounds more like a spin-off than a direct sequel.
@Martsmall oh get off your perch. We are talking about having the same level of support as you have today.
And who said I was getting the priority support? I rarely, if ever, buy games at full price. But I’m not undignified by Sony rewarding their most loyal customer a priority support. In fact, I’d expect it.
@Fight_Teza_Fight You do realise that those more expensive seats in the front of the plane keeps the seats at the back cheaper.
To illustrate: if a plane has 200 seats, with 20 seats for 600 bucks each and 180 for 150. A full plan brings in 39000. They’d had to charge 195 dollars for each seat should all seats cost the same to bring in the same revenue.
@sentiententity Everyone? I think it’s great they value loyal customers. It’s not like everyone else is loosing something they had, right? It’s just the same as before.
Love how people are acting like tiered support is unheard of. It’s great that they aren’t charging extra for it and instead giving it to their most loyal customers.
That said, something like the same priority offered to new customers during first 30 days after registration would be nice.
If the rumours are true this will be a more focused Assassins Creed with focus on you, well, silly enough Assassins with a smaller world. And that sounds gold to me. Valhalla and Odyssey were fine but we’ve really lost track of what the essence of Assassins Creed series used to be.
My dream would be gone with the items and RPG stuff. Combo-based combat, like Batman or Spider-Man. Still upgrades through neat trinkets and so on. And then main game taking place in a city environment. And please, less god-world stuff. Stay in the mortal realm.
Would have been neat if this controller had an optional mount for mobile as well. Yes, there are 3rd party ones for the DualSense (which at best is flimsy) or use the official Backbone controller (but it lacks rumble and so on).
It wasn't great was it. But considering none of the heavy hitters were there, it's maybe not a big surprise.
Still some gems: Release date for Monkey Island, Where the winds meet looks interesting. Only trailer that got my non-gamer wife to stop reading her book. Atlas Fallen has potential. I guess Callisto looked good as well.
But 2 hours was way too long for the content they had.
@Voltan as someone living where it’s actually winter I can’t say the astronomical definition is used, well, ever. Metrological winter (when it’s actually cold) is more relevant for us.
Then again, by that account a country like Greece would never call anything winter and never get to experience Crisis Core.
So let’s just agree that giving a game the release window “winter” is a horrible decision. Especially considering half of the globe calls the same months summer. Or maybe when they delay the game until June next year then can say, we didn’t say who’s winter.
@IOI a bit weird definition of winter if you ask me, but I guess that all depends on where you live.
Anyhow, when they say winter, to me it’s a clear signal it’s not due this year. I’m betting early 2023.
As for the game, yeah, it was easily the best game on PSP in my opinion, and a shame it never got a re-release on the Vita. So looking forward to this a lot
Games shouldn't have more than one listing. One unified page and then you can select if you want the PS4 or PS5 version, standard or digital deluxe and so on.
Oddly as it sounds, this new PS Plus Premium setup has kinda ruined sales for me
I see a game on sale but also go, it should end up at PS Plus Premium within a year I reckon, and it's not like my backlog is empty at the moment.
FFXVI and GoW:Ragnarok will be day one buys from me, but beyond that there's little coming within the next year that I feel I must get.
The Backbone is an excellent controller, easily the best mobile one if you ask me, so it's a great partnership by Sony. Hopefully an Android version will come soon as well.
I didn't like that they wanted full price for the Royal upgrade. Sure, it added more content but not allowing an upgrade path for early supporters was greedy.
But this is just blatant greed. The game runs 100% fine on PS5 already, it should be a patch, or at max a paid upgrade for say 10 euros.
They are clearly doing it for financial reasons. But there’s gone a lot of work into it. GTA Trilogy was cash grab. Many remasters are. But doesn’t feel like one.
Still, I think it’s too pricey to get at launch. I’ll wait. But for those who haven’t played it at all, are all in for a treat.
Great news. I was sort of 80% done with Syndicate by the time I upgraded to my PS5, and endured playing through the glitches, but skipped all DLC since it just was a bit too much
I know it's unlikely but would love a smaller Assassin's Creed game. Focus has been for years "oh this is 3x larger than the last game" instead of actually creating a great game. And back to 17th-18th century Europe please.
@SolaceCreed I've never had any problems with them charging for the upgrade. And even if they were compensated by Sony for including the game in the Collection, it's undoubtedly more profitable for them to sell a copy, and it's fine if they chose to offer those customers more value.
Look, the axe I had to grind was rather calling it a free game to start with. But you aren't alone in calling the PS Plus games free, In fact, I find most game news sites (this one included) make the same mistake and call it things like "the free games this month". I'm sorry if I was unclear or anything, was just trying to get facts right.
@SolaceCreed Goodwill? It’s marketing. Sony is paying the publisher and developer to include the game in the collection to make buying the PS5 more lucrative, especially for newcomers to the PlayStation. Obviously they aren’t paying full price for each copy or anything like that, but there are some form of compensation.
There’s a reason that Sony never uses the word free in their PS Plus marketing, as it would false marketing. They use words like “included”, add to your collection and so on.
@SolaceCreed think you need to re-read what I said regarding Capcom charging you for an upgrade. I’m fine with that. But stop saying the game was free. You’ve paid for PS Plus I assume and thus you’ve paid for the game. Not directly and it is as you say offered at no additional cost. But it’s not free.
@SolaceCreed Any game you get through your PS Plus subscription isn't free. I'm not arguing that this upgrade should be free, but don't sheep yourself into saying the games that are offered through PS Plus is free.
GamePass wouldn't work for many other companies than Microsoft, because it is not profitable at current pricing (as Microsoft themselves admit). So the industry can do some parts, but not fully emulate what they are doing and remain profitable, simple as that.
The problem for Sony is that Microsoft has the deep pockets to let Game Pass be a cash drain. It's not profitable at all for them at current levels (they admit as much themselves), but that's fine. They are playing the long game and this is the only way they can challenge Sony at the moment.
I personally think Sony's counter is good. You get lots of value with it, while it being cheaper than XGP. The main concern I do have, is the lack of a proper xCloud alternative. With XGP you can play the games in Windows, Mac and mobile, besides the console. With PS Plus it's a mixed bag. Some games are on the old PS Now, but PS Now doesn't work Macs or mobile. The only way to achieve that is to use Remote Play, while overall working fine a broader PS Now alternative would be nice.
PS Home was ahead of its time in my opinion. They could have built that further to have player homes with trophy cabinet, game demos and trailers, social hubs like integration with Discord and so on.

It's a bit odd now, that after this, the only main numbered entry you can't play on a PS5 is XIII.

Where can I read more about this? I have a sub, but have been trying to get a mate on it so we can play some online games against eachother.

Wonder if this will be the last Blizzard game released on PS considering the pending Microsoft acquisition of Blizzard.

I found it extra hilarious during the VR2 announcement where you even omitted the price in euros which was right there in the announcement from Sony.
Re: Return to Monkey Island Lands a PS5 Version Next Week
It's a great game, but the genre in general doesn't lend itself all that well to consoles if you ask me.

@riceNpea it’s due out in 6 months according to rumours. And started as a Valhalla dlc.

Nice, Tintin’s visual style should suit well for games as well, and Pendulo has a decent CV.
But damn I hate the name Snowy for Milou. Such a poor translation. I know it’s what he’s always been called in the English version, but still, yuck.
Re: Sharpen That Buster Sword, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion Rated in Australia
@Voltan yeah. If you go by dividing the year into equal 3 month chunks, I’d also call Dec-Feb winter, which what I reckon Square Enix is thinking of.
