I think Okamura is a great choice to be the new sort of "face" of the franchise. He has worked on most games of the franchise and after seeing this interview in full I appreciate how down to earth about the current state of MGS he is. He clearly still holds lots of respect for Kojima and the rest of the former staff but isn't foolish to think they are ever going to work again together. Like he said it would "be a dream".
I don't know the guy just comes off as a true fan of the series and wants to at the very least preserve it as best he can. I appreciate that and wish him and the team well in their endeavors.
I'm so curious how this beta is going to be received. It really does feel like everything is riding on that beta being great for this game to stand a chance. I'm honestly looking forward to giving it a whirl.
As long as we continue to get new games as well in the series then I'm fine with them remaking some of them. AC2 could use a bit of a face lift along with of course AC1.
I do wish Sony would take at least a little bit more interest in their backwards compatibility. The weird thing is the PSP emulation looks good. I just hopped on Killzone Liberation for a quick play session the other day and it looks really great actually. Sly on the other hand is a bit ugly, which is sad to see because the Sly collection on PS3 looks leaps and bounds better.
It is insane how this topic continues to creeps up every single time Fromsoft launches anything. Fromsoft has been making challenging games for basically their entire existence. It's what they do. Simple as that.
Most of the time a hard mode just consists of making enemies hit harder and take more hits to take down. With Fromsoft games however, the challenge always feels so much more...deliberate than the rest. Enemy placement, behavior, move set, enemy type, and map layout all feed together to make an experience that is just so distinct from the rest of the industry.
That distinction is what draws me to their games. It isn't for everyone, but it absolutely is for me.
@themightyant I don't disagree. I'm just saying some folks might simply need to explore and beef up their character more than others. Unfortunately though we will never really get an idea of how much is required for the average Joe because they already patched it. But what's done is done. It is what is.🤷♂️
@Nalodart Ah well that puts my mind at ease a bit knowing it isn't too much of a difference possibly. I just don't want them to eliminate challenge altogether is all I'm concerned about. 😄
@themightyant But you see, that's just it. Exploration is how you make the fights easier and 10-15 hours is nowhere near enough to really make a dent in how much side content there is. I have about 10 hours in and I've only faced 2 main bosses because I've been exploring so much.
You are right though about the needs of the many outweighs the few. If they saw the majority of the player base is struggling I don't blame From for stepping in. I don't like the choice but I get it.
@Nalodart Nope just standard blades. I have lvled them up to the max though. I also explored a lot too and got the Shadow Realm blessings up to 5 so I'm sure that helped. I also occasionally switch to the giant katana if I think I would rather want to attack from more of a distance.
@Nalodart I'm a dexterity build with the back-hand blades primarily. I also use the spirit ash Nightmaiden & Swordstress from time to time. I think that might be another reason people are struggling so much too. The spirit ashes are in the game for a reason yet people don't use them. Heck one of the main collectables in the DLC is specifically for powering up spirit ashes. If someone doesn't want to use them then fair enough but I also think that person shouldn't be complaining about difficulty then. It's a resource. Use it I say!
You are correct that some builds are easier to use than others but that's literally the case with just about every RPG there ever was. It's not exclusively a Fromsoft thing.
@themightyant I've heard the final boss is really difficult too but like I said I also heard people saying the boss I just defeated was really difficult as well and that just wasn't the case.
It's disappointing to me personally because now I know I'm going to get a nerfed version of the rest of the game before I even had the chance to try it. Especially since at least for what I've played so far it's been pretty balanced. Tough but fair. Like all of Fromsoft's games.
Plus the DLC only came out Friday! Are people just not exploring at all? There's a lot of content to get through. I just wish I would have gotten the chance to experience it in it's original form is all.
That's pretty disappointing. I've honestly felt like the difficulty has been really well balanced so far. I just defeated one of the early bosses people were complaining about last night and it only took me 3 tries. It was tough but some were even comparing it to Malania online and I honestly can't even fathom such a thought.
I guess this is a result of Elden Ring hitting a lot more with the casual market for some reason. I only hope it doesn't make the dlc feel like a cake walk now.
I've never watched nor cared about this guy. I only hear about him when this case is brought up. And before I say what I'm about to say I'm not trying to defend the guy. I'm merely asking a question. Do we know when he found out this individual was a minor? Reason I ask is because if he was texting this individual knowing full well that it was a minor then yeah he is a sicko who deserves all the disrespect (no pun intended) he gets.
However, if he didn't know and the minor was only acting of proper age and engaging him back with these messages, that changes the circumstances pretty significantly.
Again I didn't really follow this case very closely and perhaps my question has already been answered before and I just don't know it. I'm just curious more than anything. Regardless of the answer I don't plan on watching anything this dude puts up. Haven't watched his streams before and I don't see any point starting now.
If we never started getting PS1, PS2, and PSP games back I'd have never believed it was going to happen. I really hope it happens someday. Thankfully my PS3 is still alive and kicking but who is to say for how long?
The PS3 generation is my favorite PS generation because that was when Sony was at their lowest in terms of success at launch. They had to claw their way out of probably the toughest times PS has ever faced and in the process came out with what I'd argue is some of games PS has ever had. I would love to play them again and not depend on my aging PS3 to do it.
This poor horse has been beaten to death and then some. 😆
If I'm into the genre of the game talked about then difficulty matters very little. Other aspects are much more important. If I'm not such as for example XCom and strategy games which I only dabble in, then I would take it into consideration.

I really don't like this "review bomb" nonsense. Fromsoft makes challenging games. It's just the way it is. Don't like it? Don't play it. End of story.
And for the record I'm getting through it just fine by the way. I've only died like 4-6 times and I've defeated 3 side bosses and 1 main boss. I'm by no means an expert. It just takes patience and a little bit of strategy and if need be for some folks, a summoned helping hand.
Ah yes. The topic that just always seems to come up every single time a Fromsoft game/dlc releases. Hopefully his comments will have finally gotten through to people that the studio simply isn't interested in making the game easier? He is 100% correct too. As great as the world and lore is they are not presented in a way that would be enjoyable without the challenge. I really don't think anyone would enjoy an easier difficulty setting version of a game like Elden Ring.
Is that a design issue? Perhaps in some folks eyes but it's Fromsoft's decision as the devs and people need to respect that. There are plenty of other great games out there that are accepting of a more general audience. Go play them. It's as simple as that.
I certainly enjoyed my time with 16. It's not my favorite FF and has its issues but it was definitely a good game. The combat was fun even though it was a bit brain-dead at times. The boss fights were incredible and the world itself was rich with great lore.
Again wouldn't put it at the top of my favorite FF list but overall I really liked it. Still need to go back to play the DLC.
Obviously playing Elden Ring. The Lands of Shadow aren't going to explore themselves after all!
I also picked up the good ol' Vita again and am playing through MGS Portable Ops again as well as finding all the remaining collectables in Sly 4. Still to this day its my favorite handheld console by a mile. Sorry Switch!
And finally, I picked up A.K.I. in SF6 for the first time and am learning how to play as her. I think she is a good fit for my style of play. I just need to not forget how to do her combos when the opportunity arrives!
Bloodborne was the one that got me into Fromsoft games as well. There is just something about that world and style that are just so compelling. That's why people keep coming back to it.
I have a feeling Bloodborne will finally get it's remake at the launch of PS6 similar to Demons Souls on PS5. If ever there was an easy system seller that would be the one for me and I know I'm not alone.
While I agree with most of what he says I do disagree with his take on No Man's Sky. I prefer personally designed games to procedural generation. I know that game is well liked now but I just find games that use that sort of thing heavily boring more often than not.
I'm not saying I don't want procedural generation gone completely. I just want it used in moderation.
I'm one of the few that doesn't like really any of Capcom's VS titles but I know there are many happy players out there with this announcement so good for them. No need to drag out the ol' PS3 for MVC2 anymore!
It looks pretty solid. I'm not really a Dragon Age fan but I'm interested to see how this one shapes up mostly because I want Bioware to get cracking on Mass Effect more than anything. That said I played Inquisition and liked it well enough so I'm willing to try this one.
I had a great time with this game back in the day! Such a fun little gem. I do wonder if it would hit the same without the music though. The one they used in the trailer definitely felt a bit bland.
I suppose I could just fire up Spotify and listen to the tracks of the original to sort of bypass the problem. Not ideal of course but it's an option.
Woah there! Shadow has always been cool. The only reason he went away for so long is because Sega just didn't know what to do with him for a while unfortunately after his stand alone game was received so poorly.
But as a kid I remember seeing him on the Adventure 2 cover and instantly thinking "Wow, who's that guy? He looks super cool!"😄
He isn't alone. I tried to get into it a couple year ago but I fell off. Definitely feels like one of those things you just had to grow up with to appreciate.
Happy for the folks that are excited for this though. I got a buddy who won't shut up about it even though he knows I don't care. 😄
Sly might be a bit tougher to get all of them on PS5 since Sly 4 was on PS3/Vita. Of course that won't be an issue if we can get a PS3 emulator up and running...right Sony? 😄
Generally I try to stay away from guides on my initial playthrough unless I'm completely stuck on where to go... which as much as I love Fromsoft's games is a common occurrence. How else was I going to figure out how to get to Castle Cainhurst? How was I supposed to know to stand by a random pillar to get there!? 😄
I've kind of fallen off recently with Star Rail. I still want to return eventually but the grind finally got to me on it. Maybe when this constant barrage of RPGs I want to play ends I'll get back into it.
Never played this one but Guerilla Cambridge closing still stings every time it's brought up. Killzone Mercenary is one of Vita's best games and still blows my mind how they got a shooter to feel so good to play on a handheld. I lost many hours to multiplayer back in the day on that game.
A real shame. I was hoping they would just take full control of Killzone since the main team moved on to Horizon but alas. I might need to give this one a go just out of respect.
I definitely plan to play as Naoe most. She just looks much more like what I want out of an AC game. That said, I might switch to Yasuke once in a while if I'm just not in the stealth mood on a random afternoon.
I see so many people constantly bringing Ghost and poo-pooing Shadows and just gotta ask...why? Ghost was a fantastic game and Shadows looks fantastic too. Why not just embrace both of them?
Plus as great as Ghost is(literally one of my favorite PS4 games), Shadows has a lot more going on under the hood with the whole scout system, the weather system, the Shinobi hideout system, the RPG mechanics, etc. I really don't think the two games are going to be as comparable as people are making it out to be...which is fine! Just embrace them both for their own different strengths and weaknesses I say.
It definitely seems like they are modeling a lot of this game after Mass Effect. (the linear levels, the heavy action combat, the limited but with more synergy based party commands) As someone that clicks more with Mass Effect I must say this speaks to me. I can imagine some of the more diehard Dragon Age fans aren't going to be too happy about it though.
Really makes you do a double take at that trailer. Like the tone of the demo and the tone of the trailer are completely different. How did that happen?
Still it's nice to see the game looks a step in the right direction.
The demo looked much better in terms of tone than that trailer did thankfully. I also thought the combat looked pretty good although I wish they would have picked a side quest a bit deeper into the game to show what it looks like with a more properly equipped party.
I'm more hopeful than I was after that terrible trailer so that's a positive in my book. Still rooting for you Bioware!
I really can't wait for this game. Ubisoft is so good at making a map that is just fun to look at and I assume that will be here in spades thanks to the setting. Probably going to be the last game I buy this year that I can think of.
With this and Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft really has a great year ahead of them!
The stealth looks really great for sure! I do agree the combat animations look a bit rough around the edges though. Not terrible but not great either. I'll definitely be playing as Naoe the most of the two.
Astro Bot all the way. A very easy day 1 buy for me. Lego Horizon on the other hand...I'm sorry I'm just not into it.😄
I've also never liked the argument that all PS's exclusives look the same. In TLOU you have a gun. In GOW you got swords and axes. How are those the same gameplay experience?
It did look really off. I'll reserve judgment until I see gameplay but yeah not the best way to reintroduce this game at all. It had that "Marvel stink" all over it.
Hopefully it was just a bad trailer because I really want Bioware to succeed but I can't lie this was a bad trailer.
It was a really good show for sure. Expedition 33 is the defacto highlight of the show for me. That looks absolutely incredible! Snake Eater is also looking really really promising which makes this old MGS fan very happy! AC Shadows as well looks very good too!
As for games not confirmed for PS5 I think Perfect Dark was the clear best of the bunch. That looked really promising! Gears E-Day was my biggest disappointment though. I can't believe they are doing a pointless prequel after the cliffhanger 5 ended on.
I won't judge the gameplay until I see it properly. The tone of the trailer however did not install confidence unfortunately. Looks kinda Marvelish in a very bad way. I hope I'm wrong! Still rooting for us Bioware but not the best trailer for sure.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Is Very 'Mission-Based', Not Unlike Mass Effect
It definitely seems like they are modeling a lot of this game after Mass Effect. (the linear levels, the heavy action combat, the limited but with more synergy based party commands) As someone that clicks more with Mass Effect I must say this speaks to me. I can imagine some of the more diehard Dragon Age fans aren't going to be too happy about it though.
Re: Forget About the Cheesy Reveal Trailer with 20 Mins of Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gameplay
Really makes you do a double take at that trailer. Like the tone of the demo and the tone of the trailer are completely different. How did that happen?
Still it's nice to see the game looks a step in the right direction.
Re: Scathing Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Previews Unfavourably Compare Gameplay to PS Vita's Uncharted: Golden Abyss
I mean Golden Abyss was a great game so if anything I'm kind of more excited honestly. 😅
Re: Preview: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Leans Hard into Companions, Choices, and Consequences
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows' 'Smaller' Open World Map Is Still a Healthy Chunk of Japan
Re: Star Wars Outlaws Demos Out of This Galaxy PS5 Gameplay
Yeah it looks really great. Honestly kind of crazy to think there really hasn't been a Star Wars game like this. Looking forward to it!
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Emerges with 13 Minutes of Stabby, Smashy Gameplay
The stealth looks really great for sure! I do agree the combat animations look a bit rough around the edges though. Not terrible but not great either. I'll definitely be playing as Naoe the most of the two.
Re: Hands On: Metaphor: ReFantazio Is Already a Contender for RPG of the Year
We are eating so good on the JRPG side of things!
Re: Reaction: You Said You Were Sick of PS5's Sad Dad Sims, So You Better Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
Astro Bot all the way.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Reveal Has Utterly Torn Fan Opinion as Trailer Gets Slaughtered
It did look really off. I'll reserve judgment until I see gameplay but yeah not the best way to reintroduce this game at all. It had that "Marvel stink" all over it.
Hopefully it was just a bad trailer because I really want Bioware to succeed but I can't lie this was a bad trailer.
Re: These Are All the Games from the Xbox Showcase Confirmed for PS5
It was a really good show for sure. Expedition 33 is the defacto highlight of the show for me. That looks absolutely incredible! Snake Eater is also looking really really promising which makes this old MGS fan very happy! AC Shadows as well looks very good too!
As for games not confirmed for PS5 I think Perfect Dark was the clear best of the bunch. That looked really promising! Gears E-Day was my biggest disappointment though. I can't believe they are doing a pointless prequel after the cliffhanger 5 ended on.
Still overall great show. Good stuff Xbox.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Shifts to 'Real-Time Action Combat'
I won't judge the gameplay until I see it properly. The tone of the trailer however did not install confidence unfortunately. Looks kinda Marvelish in a very bad way. I hope I'm wrong! Still rooting for us Bioware but not the best trailer for sure.
