Always good to see Sly get some love. Still to this day my favorite 3D platformer. Tomb Raider Legend is also one of my favorites of that series as well.
Overall a great way to kick off the PS2 bit of the classics lineup.
Obviously no one wants people to work too much in an unhealthy way but if you wanted a typical 9-5 job, I wouldn't pick a creativity driven industry like the video game industry. Especially at a AAA studio.
The only way the lights are kept on is by getting products out in a timely fashion and said products take a long time to develop already. It's unrealistic to expect absolutely zero crunch. Cut down on it where you can but when it does need to happen, make sure the employees doing the crunch are compensated fairly for their extra work which is exactly what it sounds like happened here.
I played it a little bit last night and I had a pretty good time with it. The map design is definitely a highlight for sure. I particularly like the Watch Dogs 2 one. Lots of cool shortcuts without being confusing.
I actually like how low key the faction abilities are. It let's you still be able to play how you want to play while still offering a little something to set each player apart. I was a Libertad teamed up with a ghost and we had some good synergy going on with him deploying shield while I healed us whenever the shield was destroyed in a Occupy match.
I definitely liked what I played and if they support it well I also think it could really come into its own.
"Put simply, we may be too worn out by social media to think deeply about things". That's...a bit depressing. Just delete X, Facebook, whatever if your hooked in an unhealthy way. I don't really engage in that stuff at all and you would be surprised how much happier you can be not worrying about clicks and whatnot!
I definitely can't say I agree with the whole "Nothing like this on Playstation" statement. Visually impressive narrative focused games like Hellblade have been a staple of Playstation for a while now. I mean have you heard of The Last of Us?
All that said I do want to play Hellblade 2 at some point. I loved the original but I have a feeling Hellblade 2 will be in the next batch of Xbox titles ported over to PS5 so I'm not bothered. I can wait.
Daybreak will be a "stop everything else" kind of game for me. Super excited for that release in July.
I've also gotten pretty good at just simply ignoring wherever Japan is at in the series so the fact that we are a bit behind over here in the West doesn't bother me too much.
SF Assassins Fist was no joke exactly what I wanted from an SF movie. I thought they were working on a sequel to that at some point but I guess it didn't come together unfortunately.
Oh well I'll still give this a shot whenever it comes out.
I don't normally get too worked up about a bad press conference/showcase but the 2023 one was really, really rough. If a brand new game is being announced then a CGI trailer is always a big no-no. They did this for both Fair Games and Concord. Then for Spider-Man 2 they had a huge demo for it when anyone could have told you how that game would look before getting the demo, and so making it feel kind of pointless.
So that is the main improvement I'd like to see. A CGI trailer is fine for an established franchise getting a new entry. It is not for a new IP. Don't do that again and it's already an improvement over last year's event.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Kind of yes and no? There are some stages in the game that I'd consider a characters stage and others that are more not character specific. The DLC stages in particular seem to be more geared towards characters though such as Akuma getting his usual dark cave looking stage.
No offense to Akuma but I think I might be more excited for this feature than the character.π
I actually liked SF6's music for the most part too but there are a few themes that didn't click for me like Ryu and Chun Li's and considering Ryu is one of my mains this is very good news indeed!
@Pat_trick
Actually there has been one that featured a protagonist not native to the settings it took place in. Revelations took place in Constantinople and you play as Ezio who is obviously from Italy.
But again Shadows has a protagonist that is native to Japan with Naoe. I don't understand why it seems like people are just pretending she isn't in the game. I feel like I'm going crazy here!π€£
@Jaz007
But you see, you kind of proved my points.
Has AC been accurate in many ways? Sure but not 100% historically accurate. That is the entire point of Historical Fiction. The creator fills in the gaps with their own lore. In this case, Yasuke is a real person that lived but his life is not very well documented. The perfect fit for AC to do something with really.
Leonardo Da Vinci did not actually create the many weapons and tools used in AC2 and Brotherhood. He was a brilliant mind sure but didn't create a Renaissance era battle tank. Again, Historical Fiction.
And Yasuke isn't an assassin in this game. He is the more brute force samurai playstyle for people not interested in the stealth approach. Heck it has already been confirmed he doesn't even have a hidden blade!
Naoe is the assassin type character. She is more like the traditional AC protagonist that it sounds like your looking for. She is Japanese. She is a Shinobi. She is primarily geared towards the stealth approach as opposed to Yasuke's brute force.
I do feel kind of bad for Naoe. These people act upset that it doesn't star a Japanese lead...even though Naoe is absolutely a Japanese lead.π€·ββοΈ Are people just ignoring that on purpose?
Or the whole "It's not historically accurate" argument. Newsflash! Assassins Creed has NEVER been historically accurate. It's called Historical Fiction. Plus if you want historical facts however the series does support that desire too nowadays with the whole Discovery Tour mode. That's literally the entire point of that mode!
I gotta say the drama over this whole thing has made absolutely zero sense. Just utter nonsense if you ask me. If people just have to attack it for something how about the expensive editions of the game? At least that complaint makes sense considering they are pretty expensive.
I personally am very much looking forward to Shadows.
I will be pre-ordering for sure when I got the chance. Good to hear it's already doing well. I have no doubt it's going to be great! The new mechanics they have talked about sound really cool and interesting.
Turns out the internet hate this game has gotten doesn't reflect reality. Shocking.
Probably won't be playing much this weekend. I'll be watching the PGA Championship along with playing golf in real life as well. I'll try to squeeze in a little Unicorn Overlord if I can.
If I'm being honest, upgrading hardware is always my least favorite part of gaming. I realize it's still a necessary part of the hobby but I won't give anyone trouble for sticking with the previous generation as long as they are still happy with it.
Hardware upgrades, no matter if your talking console or PC, is the most expensive part of the hobby. And when you take into account the economic reality of today I get why people would consider sticking with what they got.
I have a PS5 and a Switch but I have no intentions of upgrading to either the PS5 Pro or the Switch 2. I'm currently happy with my PS5 and I have found that I simply don't play my Switch enough to warrant spending $300+ on something I don't play very often. Plus, being a JRPG player primarily these days, outside of FF7 Rebirth everything I would be interested in for that genre are still available on PS4 so really I probably could've kept rocking the PS4 in hindsight.
The timing is indeed terrible but it does make some sense since it's based out of Poland. There is a bunch of talent there and it's decently cheap to run a studio there. Regardless it isn't this team's fault what happened with Tango and the others so I hold no ill will towards them.
It's not for me but I am glad to see it wasn't a massive flop. If they are going ahead with a season 2 there must be a big enough player base to warrant it so it must be more popular than people think.
What a strange line to take. Especially now that we have things like X where I guarantee someone that worked at one of these studios is going to tweet about this at some point if they haven't already. Then your just going to look worse.
Heck thinking like a heartless jerk for a moment, shareholders seem to love shutdowns. So why hide it?

I'll pass along your idea to the ESA. Surely someone there could get the ball rolling on this!
What a strange left turn for this series of true. I don't necessarily hate the idea but I'm just having trouble picturing who this is for. I never pegged Horizon as a franchise for kids (not that there's anything wrong with liking Legos as an adult. Just saying Lego is more geared towards kids is all.)
I also just look at Horizon as a showpiece style game for visual quality and presentation so a Lego version of that is just...very hard to picture. Definitely an intriguing project if true. That's for sure.
I would imagine there is no way the full game could fit on a single blu-ray disc so the installation bit makes sense. I never expected an online connection to be required to play after its installed but happy to get clarification.

Other than that, trying to catch up in Honkai Star Rail but I'm still only on the main story for Penacony. Just too much other stuff to play!
I primarily play on console so it doesn't really effect me much. I've only used my PC to play 2 games in like the last 5 years and those are Trails in the Sky the 3rd (only available on PC) and Halo Infinite (Didn't have an Xbox Series X yet...although with how things are going I might not ever have oneπ ).
I personally have no desire to play PS5 games on PC myself but I'm not bothered one bit if PC players get a chance to play some PS5 games too.
