Re: Industry Analyst Argues Either Sony or Microsoft Will Need to Exit the Console Market

Korgon

I wouldn't just assume Nintendo will automatically do just fine next gen either. Let us not forget the Wii U was only a generation ago. They depend heavily on the casual market to pick up their systems because they are usually the cheapest. If that market deems Switch 2 not worth it's likely more expensive asking price...

The Switch was indeed a massive success but let's not pretend Nintendo is untouchable here.

Re: Stunning Trails in the Sky Remake Confirmed for PS5 Release in 2025

Korgon

Thank goodness it's not Switch exclusive! I'm so excited for this!

Very surprising that NISA isn't involved with this though. It seemed like they were really hitting their stride with localizing these games faster. I wonder if GungHo was just better equipped for a worldwide simultaneous release? Wonder what the story there is.

Regardless, no more excuses folks who have been waiting to jump into Trails! The time is nigh!

Re: Hands On: Final Fantasy 16's Clive Is Ridiculously Well Realised in Tekken 8

Korgon

@MrPeanutbutterz
I think you might be misunderstanding my point a bit. I'm not saying original characters don't take as much creativity. My main in SF is AKI and she's great! Super creative and fun to play. And all those characters in GG you mentioned? Very creative indeed. If I had my way there would be no guest characters and all original characters.

However that just isn't realistic these days. Like it or not guest characters are here to stay in fighting games. So what I'm saying is if that's the case I would rather have a guest character from a non-fighting game instead of one from another fighting game because we have no idea how they will play...at all.

Take Mai for SF6. I can make an educated guess already at some of her move set just based off how her other fighting game iterations are without even seeing her in game yet. The flippy fire kick thing, fan throw, dive attack, forward moving elbow thing, etcetera.

Now take Guilty Gear Strive. (and I'm so glad you brought it up because this illustrates what I'm talking about perfectly) They have Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners coming. I haven't got a clue what her move set will look like. Will she use her monowire like a whip to be a zoner? Will she have some sort of crazy hacking abilities? Will she use a gun? Be a quick rush down character? I have no idea, and that's what makes it more exciting to me than if they just added someone who is already established from another fighting game series.

Basically all I'm saying is if we are going to do guest characters I prefer ones that force the dev to come up with original move sets for them instead of just implementing someone who already has a defined move set.

@MrPeanutbutterz
I get that. That never bothered me much though since I don't really care about story in a fighting game. I like when devs have to get creative to come up with a move set for a guest character so when it's just another fighting game character...well it doesn't take much imagination to figure out most of their move set.

Plus I can't say I agree that Clive doesn't fit in Tekken considering Tekken has a friggin bear and a Panda as playable characters along with dudes turning into demon forms of themselves with eye lasers and whatnot.

A guy with a sword and magic powers and a pet dog seems to fit in nicely if you ask me. 😄

Re: Suicide Squad Season 4, Deathstroke Fail to Move the Needle Much

Korgon

I hope Rocksteady can turn it around on their next game. Yes, Suicide Squad was a big mistake. But I like to at least give devs a chance to redeem themselves on the next entry.

After all, everyone thought Devil May Cry was done for after DMC2. Then we got a complete masterpiece in DMC3 so it has happened before. Hopefully it can happen again with Rocksteady.

Re: Naughty Dog Turns Off Intergalactic PS5 Trailer's Comments As Discourse Turns Nasty

Korgon

Did anyone stop to consider the possibility that she shaved her hair for practical reasons? You know, one less thing her enemies have to use against her? I mean she is a bounty hunter so she probably gets in fights pretty often.

To top it all off we have one short trailer that really doesn't give anything away and yet people are acting like they know everything about this character already.

Culture warriors might legit be worst. Regardless of which side they are on.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Fans Swing at Swen Vincke Speech, Review Bomb Baldur's Gate 3

Korgon

@JohntheRaptor
I know its not everyone that bought and enjoyed the game. However like I said it's not just these specific toxic "fans" but also the way the devs have behaved since the game awards that's putting me off personally.

Now there is the chance that their words were mistranslated which is why I simply said I'm avoiding it "for now". If it comes out someone really screwed up on translation (and I hope that is the case) then that might change my mind then.

Re: SEGA President Calls Sonic Superstars a 'Disappointment'

Korgon

I personally had a good time with Superstars. It's probably my least favorite recent Sonic game. Frontiers was definitely better and Shadow Generations was better as well. However, I'd still say Superstars is a solid game. The coop didn't really fit very well though. Much better as a single player game.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Deserved Astro Bot's Game of the Year Award, Says Game Science CEO

Korgon

Wow that's pretty childish to say the least. I understand being disappointed you didn't win something but there is no need to be salty about it.

Plus Wukong walked away with two awards themselves. Stellar Blade, which was in my opinion the second best game I played all year, got nothing. Many nominated great games walked away with nothing and did they cry foul play? No. Grow up.

Re: Elden Ring: Nightreign Will Not Have Crossplay

Korgon

As much as I love Fromsoft, the online systems for their games have always been very odd indeed. Considering online seems borderline essential for this game they would do well to make some improvements on that front.

No crossplay in this day and age though doesn't inspire confidence though.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards' 10th Anniversary Special Was Its Biggest and Best Ever

Korgon

@Ainu20
I think it has something to do with some people just liking to be a contrarian. Like even if somehow nothing shown appealed to those people they are simply either blind or ignorant to think nothing looked interesting or of good quality.

I'm not into Civilization but I know its probably a pretty great series if it is up to its seventh entry just for example!

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards' 10th Anniversary Special Was Its Biggest and Best Ever

Korgon

Yeah you gotta give Geoff and his team some credit. This was an absolute blast to watch for my watch party. We collectively lost our minds at the sight of Virtua Fighter finally coming back and each of us had something specific to all of us that was equally exciting. (Ueda's new game, Witcher 4 and Project Century for myself) I honestly couldn't fathom anyone not finding at least something they are excited for that was shown here.

I even thought that the awards were given just the right amount of time for the most part. So overall good stuff Geoff! 👍

Re: Suicide Squad Season 4 Will Be Its Last, Offline Mode Coming Tomorrow

Korgon

@dskatter
I certainly understand your skepticism. However, I choose to hope they can right the ship. Perhaps I'm too optimistic for my own good but still. It has happened before. There was a time when people thought Capcom was beyond redemption and look at them now.

Hopefully the next Batman is great and we can all just pretend Suicide Squad never happened.😄

Re: Mafia, Borderlands 4 Trailers Both Set for The Game Awards

Korgon

Slight correction. Mafia The Old Country is slated for 2025 according to the official teaser trailer description on YouTube.

Very much looking forward to that one! Borderlands 4 on the other hand...I'll wait and see. Loved Borderlands back in the day but 3 was just kind of okay for me.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks the Days of Consoles Are Numbered

Korgon

I doubt it. There is clearly a proven market for consoles and if the day ever comes when there isn't? Well I guess I'll be primarily a retro gamer at that point. I just have no interest in streaming my games really and I just don't like the PC experience enough to make that my primary way of playing games.
