Certainly would be a weird announcement if true. I don't really know how I'd react to such a thing. I don't love the idea, but I also don't really hate it either. Guess we will wait and see.
Doing my NG+ on Stellar Blade. I'm determined to get the platinum on this one. All I need to do is get the other 2 endings and I got it. Honestly my personal GOTY so far for the year. I really can't get enough of it. Looking forward to that boss rush mode!
Other than that, trying to catch up in Honkai Star Rail but I'm still only on the main story for Penacony. Just too much other stuff to play!
I primarily play on console so it doesn't really effect me much. I've only used my PC to play 2 games in like the last 5 years and those are Trails in the Sky the 3rd (only available on PC) and Halo Infinite (Didn't have an Xbox Series X yet...although with how things are going I might not ever have oneπ ).
I personally have no desire to play PS5 games on PC myself but I'm not bothered one bit if PC players get a chance to play some PS5 games too.
Welp...can't say I'm shocked. I know they said they want to double down on GaaS but quite clearly it did not work out for them. If they truly do decide to double down on this type of game it's only going to get worse from here.
Please somebody, anybody that is a higher-up at WB. Wake up. See the damage you have done and do better.
Being only behind Helldivers is nothing to be ashamed of for Stellar Blade. Helldivers really is kind of an anomaly after all. I am really shocked Sea of Thieves is doing as well as it is. It never looked very appealing to me but hey glad people are enjoying it.
I'm interested. It's going to need to get great reviews first though for me to consider playing it at launch. It's just close enough to Metaphor's launch just a couple weeks later to where I might need to consider putting it on hold until after I finish Metaphor.
@Randinator123 @FreasurePlanten To be fair, Microsoft is swinging more and more towards becoming a 3rd party publisher with each passing day it seems like. So if anything I would say it's in everyone's best interests if sites everywhere cover topics involving Xbox at the moment including Push Square.
After all, it's the job of the press to report the news related to topics they cover. Push Square may obviously focus more on the Playstation side, but that doesn't mean they should just silo off topics involving the larger industry.
I really hope so. Of all the studio purchases Microsoft made, Ninja Theory was the one that made my head turn. I'm not really a huge Bethesda guy. I'm definitely not an Activision guy. Ninja Theory though? I'm a huge fan of their work ever since Heavenly Sword so it hurt to see them lose their independence.
Needless to say, following the recent Xbox news, I'm very worried for their future. The complete lack of marketing also doesn't strike me as a good sign.
Yikes. Talk about a depressing story. Shutdowns are always sad to see but Tango must have been just completely blindsided by this whole thing. What a disaster Xbox created for themselves. Just absolutely shameful how they handled this.
I just prefer to just own a game and not need to worry about if what I want to play is in the subscription service I'm tied to. Life is too short to just play whatever a subscription service offers. That said, subscriptionshave a place in the market. I'm just not part of that market.
I love Black Flag but I'm not too interested in a remake. It's still too soon for Black Flag remake for me. It does make business sense though especially since they already have so many of the assets to work with already from Skull & Bones.
I love this series though. It's had its ups and downs sure but I don't think Ubisoft gets enough credit for how relevant AC has remained over the years. Will all of these different projects hit? Not sure but I'm interested in almost all of them except for the co-op one. Even then though I'll wait to see it before passing judgment.
I'm certainly curious about it. I'm also very much rooting for it even though I'm not a huge DA fan. I just want it to come out and impress so Bioware can fully focus on Mass Effect selfishly. Still, I liked Inquisition well enough so I'm at least somewhat interested.
If it's designed to be difficult so be it. Nothing wrong with designing a game to be difficult if that is the creator's intent. There are plenty of other games out there that are more approachable for people who might feel too intimidated.
I would love to see more from 1st party for sure but I can't say I've been disappointed with the 2nd/3rd party stuff. It reminds me of how the PS1/PS2 eras were. Playstation didn't really have an incredibly strong 1st party stable of devs until the PS3 generation and beyond.
As long as the quality is good I don't care where it comes from. I would already put Stellar Blade pretty high up in terms of my favorite games of the generation so I can't really complain!π
@ShogunRok Oh yeah! How did I forget Vanillaware? Now that I think of it I'd also throw Arc System Works in there as well so nevermind there's a few out there!
Atlus is legitimately the only dev I can think of where I can tell it's an Atlus game just by looking at it. They got a very unique style that easily gets people's attention. Top-tier art team over there for sure.
Oof. Some pretty big names in that list. They just lost their biggest stake in the Japanese talent market by closing Tango. Not a great idea when the Japanese side of the gaming industry has mostly been thriving lately at least in terms of quality.
And while Redfall was a disaster, I more blame the higher ups for that one than just Arkane alone. Arkane Austin still did Prey before that and that game is very much a respected title.
I almost never do NG+ right after finishing a game but I have already started mine for Stellar Blade. An easy front runner for my personal GOTY. Shift Up should be very proud of the work they put into this game. Absolutely love it!
I tried to the first one but didn't really like it much at all sadly. I really liked Transistor back in the day though. SuperGiant is very talented for sure. Hades unfortunately just isn't for me though.
It's a bit weird to see some folks expressing "disappointment" in Sony over this decision. It's not like they are backtracking on a noble deed or something. They wanted to inflate PSN numbers and realized it isn't worth taking the heat they were getting. This wasn't a heroic act or anything.π
Sounds cool to me. The reboot trilogy was already kind of tinkering with the idea as while I wouldn't classify them as open world they did start to experiment with that sort of thing on Rise of the Tomb Raider. I really enjoyed the reboot games and am looking forward to this one for sure.
If your in a country where PSN is available it's a bit silly to complain. However if your someone in a country PSN is not available and you purchased the game already? Yeah you definitely got a right to complain. Kind of a boneheaded move on Sony here.
The 1st party output has definitely been pretty slow this generation. My favorite 1st party PS5 game thus far would probably be Horizon 2, and while I did enjoy it I wouldn't say it's going to be on my favorites of the generation for sure.
Thankfully the 3rd party games have mostly been really great so it hasn't been a huge problem. There is no doubt though the 1st party stuff has been a bit disappointing this generation.
@Wazeddie22 Rebirth is the highest user rated game of the year so far for Playstation on this site so I don't think your in the minority on that one. I loved Rebirth as well! π
I'm actually going to try out a real life golf simulator for the first time so I'm excited for that! When I'm home though it's all Stellar Blade. Game is just a blast to play!
I'm on a 9 at the moment but I gotta say if it keeps it up I might even bump up to a 10! It's flawless performance-wise. Combat is really fun. Music is incredible. Fantastic enemy variety which is a must in games like this. The lore is actually pretty interesting too even if it's not necessarily the most original. I've even found the platforming to be refreshingly challenging as opposed to frustrating. Exploration is quite satisfying most of the time.
My only gripe is that you have to travel to the tetrapod first every time you want to travel to a new area once the game opens up a bit more. It takes bit too much time to get where you want to go. The English VO is also a bit rough in spots although I've certainly heard worse.
I have been absolutely hooked on Stellar Blade and I do intend to get to Lies of P. (I have it installed, just haven't had the time) If this is a sign of things to come from Korea then we are in for some great games in the future.
@UltimateOtaku91
I agree that I do actually think this was more a creative decision than censorship. There are still plenty of other skimpy outfits available in the game after all and the director has been pretty upfront about the game leading up to this point.
However, even with that probably being the case, I think most people are more upset that it seems very random what games get censored and what games do not. Sony did kind of bring this heat on themselves really ever since some devs from Japan came out and said Sony is starting to crank up the censorship a few years ago. (I can't remember the exact wording but I remember reading about it)
That's why I think it would be best if censorship just wasn't a thing. It just complicates things for no real reason, even when it likely didn't actually take place like with Stellar Blade.
Yeah CDPR has really kind of taken the crown from them for this type of RPG for me. Sure CDPR has made mistakes as well but at least they don't leave their games barely functional and just count on modders to fix everything.
