Re: TV Show Review: Like a Dragon: Yakuza - Generic Japanese Crime Caper Doesn't Do SEGA Franchise Justice

Korgon

I didn't think it was awful or anything but just kind of lacked the punch of the games. I think the cast for the most part was fine but the pacing is all out of whack. The time jumps between 3 (or was it 4? I couldn't keep up😅) different time frames made it very hard to follow along.

I was certainly hoping for something better but oh well. I'll probably still finish it since there's only 3 episodes left anyway.

Re: Sony's Japan Studio 'Forgot What It Feels Like to Have a Hit'

Korgon

@ChrisDeku
That is true about the different team sizes but my point still stands. It took MM almost a decade to put out Dreams and it completely flopped. Just like it had been ages since Japan Studio had put out a hit before they were transformed into Asobi.

I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if Sony is considering a similar route with MM as it doesn't seem like they got all their ducks in a row over there either.

Re: Sony's Japan Studio 'Forgot What It Feels Like to Have a Hit'

The same argument though could be levied at the likes of Media Molecule and they are still somehow around. Their last commercial success was LBP2. That was a PS3 game. I wonder if Sony might be considering a similar approach with them in the future.

It does still sting with Japan Studio. Yes Gravity Rush didn't set the world on fire with sales but those two games are fantastic. They deserved more credit than they got.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 Is an Absolutely Insane Upgrade

Korgon

To be fair this still is kind of a pointless remaster. The original version still looks and plays perfectly fine. That said though it does look better for sure. Plus the faster load times will be nice.

If they wanted full price for this there isn't a chance I'd be interested but at $10? Sure, why not.

Re: Sony's Guerrilla Sounds Completely Done with the Killzone Series

Korgon

To these people asking "Where has all this support for Killzone been!?"...I mean where have you been? They've made four main console entries and two portable spin-offs. That means there was a pretty consistent fanbase for the series to receive that many entries.

Was it the biggest selling franchise of all time for Playstation? Of course not, but let's not pretend there wasn't a dedicated community for the series. You don't get six entries in a series when nobody likes it.

Re: PlayStation, Bungie Still Going Ahead with Internal Live Service Team

Korgon

@themightyant
I know they aren't all bad and yeah the two examples you mentioned are great too. The funny thing though is that those two have been dabbling in the live service business before Bungie came around.

With Helldivers it feels like they were caught off-guard with how successful it was. Then they canceled TLOU Online after years of development. Then Concord...

It just seems like all Bungie has brought to the table for them is more problems, not less... which isn't good considering Bungie are supposed to be the "experts" in this field.

Re: Sony's Guerrilla Sounds Completely Done with the Killzone Series

I'm not even asking for a new game. (Though I'd love to see it) Can I just get a PS3 Killzone collection? That's all I ask!

It's a real shame they shut down Guerilla Cambridge. Mercenary was fantastic and I was hoping that studio would just become the new Killzone studio while Guerilla proper could move on to Horizon.

I just miss Killzone 😢

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metaphor: ReFantazio?

Korgon

I'm about 30 or so hours in and I am completely in love with it. Where do I start? The presentation? The music? The gameplay? The characters? The story? It's all there, and it's all incredible.

This is Atlus at their best, and when Atlus is at their best, it's the very best the industry has to offer. Easy 10.

Re: Expedition 33 Dev Confirms $50 Price Is Correct, '30+ Hours of Main Game'

Korgon

Only the gaming community would complain about a deal being too good.🤦‍♂️

It's a new studio's debut title. It makes sense that they would consider a cheaper price tag since they are trying to get their name and game out there as much as possible. A cheaper price tag will help with that.

I personally can't wait to play it. It has continued to impress me with every new trailer.

Re: PlayStation Community Reflects on Iconic Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for 15th Anniversary

Korgon

An absolute masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. The single player was fantastic in just about every single way and still holds up very well today.

And that multiplayer. Ohh that multiplayer was sublime! This and AC Brotherhood were all I played for like two years until Uncharted 3 came out!

This time was the peak of gaming as a whole for me. Games had awesome single players and experimented in interesting ways with multiplayer. I do miss when not every single multiplayer game had to be a big giant GaaS game. Good times.

Re: Love Classic Lara Croft? Play the Crap Tomb Raider Trilogy on PS5, PS4

Korgon

I know its easy to poke fun at these games (AOD in particular) but from a preservation standpoint I think it's actually pretty cool that they aren't pretending like these never happened. I appreciate them putting this out there so that people who want to can kind of get a full idea of how the series progressed through both the good and bad times.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this leave only Tomb Raider Underworld as the only Tomb Raider unavailable on modern hardware? Not counting Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Re: SEGA Has Been Quietly Killing It This Year, Regularly Publishing Bangers

Korgon

My first exposure to gaming as a kid came from Sega Genesis so I naturally have a soft spot for them. For a while though I wasn't as into them as I should have been for the PS2/PS3 generations.

Then along came 2017 and I haven't gone a year without buying a Sega published game since. Persona 5 was the catalyst. I hadn't been into JRPGS in a while until I played that and went on to play the rest of the series.

Then I finally gave Yakuza a shot with Yakuza 0 and went back and played all of those and loved every minute of it.

Then I decided to play Valkyria Chronicles for the first time and fell in love with that series. Then I also figured it had been a while since I'd tried a Sonic game and tried Frontiers and ended up having a blast with it...

So yeah Sega has been absolutely crushing it lately. They really have become probably the most important publisher around for me.

Re: PS5 Pro Prompts Sony's Disc Drive to Rocket Up the Charts

Korgon

Even though I mostly do my gaming digitally nowadays I still have a lot of PS4 games physically. If for nothing else I'd still want a disc drive for backwards compatibility.

I'm not in the market for a PS5 Pro so I didn't get a disc drive since I still use my launch PS5 but if PS6 did the same thing PS5 is doing currently and selling it separately I will do my best to get one.

Re: Until Dawn (PS5) - Killer Teen Slasher Snags a Pricey New-Gen Remake

Korgon

I wonder if the reason there is no upgrade path is because it's a different developer from the original. It's also not a developer that Playstation owns directly like a Nixxes so maybe they just said they wouldn't work on it if it wasn't full price.

Not that that justifies it. I'm not interested myself either.
