Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Korgon

@gaston
Yeah inflation is really the thing I'm most worried about. After all this is the first generation that has had console prices only go higher, not lower. It doesn't look good but hopefully I'm wrong.

$700 for a general consumer focused product is hard to imagine.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Korgon

Some folks just can't help themselves. I'm still firmly in the not interested camp. But at the end of the day we choose what is worth it and what is not for ourselves. $700 for a few extra hair strands on Tifa's head is borderline insane to me but if someone really wants it and can afford it? Go for it.

I'll save my my $700 for a PS6. With the way things are looking I'm going to need it.

Re: Mini Review: Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns (PS5) – DLC Add-On Is Mostly Unfunny and Overpriced

Korgon

Weirdly enough MK1 is actually my favorite of the modern 2D MK games. Though I would really like a return of Konquest mode over the short story mode. SF6 World Tour mode reminded me how much I loved Konquest mode on Deception.

The PS2 MK games were the best imo. So much content and immense depth with the style switching. I'd buy a collection of those in a heartbeat!

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

@PuppetMaster
Yeah I thought that venomous fang could be an option too but unfortunately his recovery is pretty good to the point where unless I'm fully committed to it and guess way ahead of time he will block in time and that move is super negative on block so it's extremely risky.

I haven't tried EX Serpent Lash though. That might actually be a good idea since I think she is technically airborne when zipping up to the opponent. Maybe she goes over it? I'll have to try that when I get the chance. Good suggestion!

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

@MrPeanutbutterz
Huh. I never knew about all that in regards to Nishiyama. That's really interesting! I remember the Capcom VS SNK games but I always just figured that was the end of their connection.

I appreciate the history lesson! I'm still not crazy about his design but at least now I have a bit more context behind why he is interesting to people. I already feel a bit more appreciation for him than I did.

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Korgon

@MrPeanutbutterz
I can see that perspective. And there is a point where it starts to get a bit too weird like Negan. However, I always saw the point of guest characters is to draw in a potential new player to the genre. Picking characters from other fighting games just feels kind of...I don't know redundant.

I know there is a bit of a connection between SF and KOF/FF already but I just never really liked the character design of SNK personally.

Like Terry looks like Ash Ketchum was a pizza guy from the 80's. He just... doesn't do anything for me.

As for Mai, well she has sex appeal I guess so there's that. 😅

Maybe if I grew up on SNK I'd feel differently about it but as someone with zero nostalgia I just feel indifferent about them.

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Korgon

@Keyblade-Dan
Agreed. Yeah I'm not opposed necessarily to guest characters but I don't like the idea of them taking up half the season as well. I also prefer they come from a source outside of the fighting game genre. Like Strive bringing Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners. I have no idea how she will play which I find more exciting. Plus I love Edgerunners so that helps too.😄

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

I'm in a bit of weird place with this seemingly Capcom/SNK alliance that's brewing. I like Street Fighter but I don't really like SNK much at all. I know this collaboration is supposed to be exciting but I just kind of feel indifferent to it all.

I don't know. I guess I would have just preferred SF stay without guest characters but I guess that ship has sailed at this point.

Terry seems kind of annoying in SF6 at the moment. He seems like an awful match-up for AKI from what I played yesterday. Maybe I just need to go to the lab a bit but I've had a pretty awful experience the last couple days since he launched. He doesn't seem like a good fit to me at least. Maybe it will get better with time.

Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Triggers Social Media, Ex-Sony Exec Says 'If You Don't Like It, Don't Buy It'

Korgon

It was only a matter of time. I liked Jinn a lot too but come on! Sucker Punch literally has a borderline perfect record at this point. Their worst game is Infamous Second Son...and that's a great game too!

If Sucker Punch felt the need to move on then I trust them. At least wait until the game is out before we start the next battle of the culture war!

Ugh I swear I hate the culture war. It's SOOOO STUPID.

Re: Ubisoft Backs Out of Tokyo Game Show at Eleventh Hour, Cancels Livestream

Korgon

@Kienda
I mean they said they've given Shadows four years of development. That seems like a fair amount of time to me.

Plus AC Mirage was awesome. I really liked that one. Sure Skull & Bones was a bust and Star Wars Outlaws seems like it was just okay for the most part (though I still intend to play it at some point).

And I didn't mean to make you think I was singling you out as far as the whole controversy situation goes. I meant that as more of a general statement on the discussion surrounding this game. If you want evidence of what I mean...well...look around on this comment section. 😂

Re: Ubisoft Backs Out of Tokyo Game Show at Eleventh Hour, Cancels Livestream

Korgon

@Kienda
I just wholeheartedly disagree but whatever. Feel how you feel about them. I've had a great time with every mainline AC in the series and just find the drama surrounding AC Shadows annoying and sad.

The culture warriors have just taken over any and all discussion about the game. The game is barely even talked about anymore. Comment sections just turn into "Why is da samurai guy black!?" Like I said it's just annoying and sad as a fan of the series.

Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Mod Removes PSN Login Requirement

Korgon

It is a bit odd how determined some of these PC players are when it comes to not signing into PSN to protect their data when they've already given said data away anyway through other means like their phone/Steam accounts.

But if it's really that big of an issue then that's the beauty of mods like this so...go get em PC brethren! Stick it to the man!

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Korgon

I don't know how I'd feel about it to be honest. On the one hand I do enjoy portable gaming...but I'm not really a fan of the Switch approach. It feels like a Jack of all but Master of none situation. I prefer a dedicated handheld and a dedicated home console but I know those times are sadly a thing of the past so maybe I just gotta get used to it.

I still use my Vita daily today. To me that is the peak of handheld gaming. It's not big and bulky like modern handheld systems. The games are built with portability in mind. Ah the good ol' days!

Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

Korgon

I've always said that the idea of a remaster/remake is fine but for games that are not easily available on modern hardware. Case and point, the PS3 catalog. The argument that these games no longer hold any value just rings hollow to me personally.

A simple Remastered collection of Killzone 2&3 is all I'm asking for from Guerilla. I'm not even asking for a new one necessarily. (Though I wouldn't mind one) If it fails, you don't lose much as most of the work was already done. If it succeeds, hey! There might be some interest left in the series. Either way the new blood gets valuable experience and we at least get something we didn't play only 7 years ago.

Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition Massively Oversold Projections, Remains BioWare's Biggest Game

Korgon

I remember I got it mostly because it was one of the few RPGs available for PS4 around its launch. Well that and I needed a Bioware RPG to hold me over until ME Andromeda.

I liked Inquisition well enough. I didn't love it but I've played worse. Honestly I'm not really that excited to play Veil Guard either but I'll probably pick it up just to support Bioware to hopefully get that next Mass Effect.

Yes. I'm that much of a Mass Effect stan.

Re: Sony Priming 'Even Less Exciting' PS5 Remaster for State of Play

Korgon

I understand the idea of getting new hires feet wet with a safer project...but good lord if it has to be a remaster/remake why not pick something that isn't readily available on current-gen consoles?

Like literally the vast majority of PS3 titles? Infamous, Killzone, Resistance, Folklore, Motorstorm, etc.? Any of those would be great to see come back in a remaster/remake. I honestly can't even imagine what could be less exciting than a Zero Dawn remaster.

Re: PS5 Exclusives Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Failed to Meet Expectations

Korgon

2 things...
1. Square always seems to have incredibly unrealistic expectations.
2. The budgets for their games are a bit out of control and need to reeled back in.

Perhaps study how some of the competition is conducting their business. Falcom for example isn't selling insane amounts of copies all the time but they properly budget their games according to their expected sales and so are able to create a pretty sustainable business for themselves.

Re: In an Unprecedented Twist, Sony Is Licensing Freedom Wars to Bandai Namco

Korgon

A very interesting choice on Bandai Namco's part. I wonder who approached who first for this. I can't imagine Sony was on the hunt to find a partner for this game but if so that would be kind of cool to see especially for their IP they never do anything with anymore.

I'm looking forward to trying this one as I never played the Vita version.

Also any takers to work on Killzone? Or Resistance? Folklore? Please?😄
