Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Harry Potter Game?

Korgon

I loved Sorcerer's Stone as a kid and Chamber of Secrets(PS2) walked so that Hogwarts Legacy could run. So Legacy is obviously my favorite. Fantastic game! Quiddich was also cool. The rest are Those-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named.

Looking forward to the new Quiddich game!

Re: Incredible Looking Trails in the Sky Remake Is Real, But PS5, PS4 Players Will Have to Wait

Korgon

@Ainu20 @Ainu20 @Ainu20 @Nei If it is a timed exclusive then Nintendo of America did it so dirty with that short glimpse. The game does look fantastic...show it off! Nintendo Japan got the memo!

I think the Sky trilogy is my favorite of the Trails series so I'll be all over it! Hopefully it isn't timed exclusive and the reason they are being silent is because of some marketing agreement of some sort.

I have a Switch so if push comes to shove I can still play it...but I really don't like using it much if I can avoid it. The Switch is honestly my least favorite console I've ever owned. I generally like Nintendo games so that's why I got it but if I have a choice I would much rather play it on PS5.

Edit: wow apologies to the people I @ed. My phone acted up while I was typing. My bad!

Re: Preview: PS5's Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Is a Fiercely Loyal Remake

Korgon

Sounds exactly like how I hoped it would turn out so I'm happy. I especially like the update to equipping different camo options now having a quick select feature. That was my primary reason that 3 is one of my least favorites in the series (Although I still love the game) and it sounds like this remake is fixing that along with the rough control scheme.

So far, sounding like they are on the right track with this one!

Re: PS5, PC FPS Concord's Poor Player Numbers Have Predictably Gone Viral

Korgon

I think more than anything it just needed something more effective at actually introducing the characters. The vignette idea just isn't a good one. It assumes people already like these characters, which simply is not the case.

I know we unfortunately live in an age where we can't have shooters with a campaign and multiplayer (outside of COD anyway) but I really think one would have gone a long way towards getting this game more interest. Plus it would have really let them properly get people attached to the characters as opposed to the useless vignettes.

I know people will point to Overwatch as the counter to my argument but that has the Blizzard name attached to it. Firewalk is an unknown new studio so they were never going to get the leniency Blizzard got. Plus I also just gotta say Blizzard made just far more attractive characters. Concord's cast just looks kinda...well I'll say it ugly.😄

It is sad though, the core gameplay is there but the meat on the bone is just not in good enough shape.

Re: Atlus Really Doesn't Want You to Know Metaphor: ReFantazio Is Coming to PS5

Korgon

I think it will be fine in the end. I have a feeling people have just seen enough of the game already and are simply choosing not to watch the trailers anymore.

It is a bit weird needing to go to either Xbox or Atlus proper for anything on the game though. I know Xbox has actually done a better job trying to bring more JRPGs over to the platform but Playstation still just feels like the home of games like this to me.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Concord?

Korgon

I'm waiting to see how it looks a few weeks from now. If it looks like it has a steady community I'll jump in. The beta was pretty darn good although I only liked half the game modes on offer. I hope it succeeds!

Re: Reaction: It's Time for Xbox to Tell Us Which Games It's Bringing to PS5, and Which Games It Isn't

Korgon

Would I like to know the full extent of their plans? Absolutely. However, that just isn't going to happen unless they fully embrace the route of Sega and just become fully 3rd party. They still need to keep some stuff only on Xbox to try to give the box something to entice people with. GP simply isn't enough.

As it stands, I'm fine with the case-by-case situation. We can sort of read between the lines a bit anyway in that Bethesda and Activision stuff seem to be almost for sure not exclusives for the most part. Starfield is only a matter of time I'd bet. And I'd be willing to bet Elder Scrolls 6 will be multiplat as well.

Re: PS5, PC Hero Shooter Concord Was in Development for 8 Years

Korgon

Ouch. 8 years is a long time for what is there with Concord. Sure there were definitely things that happened in that 8 years that hampered development on many games (Covid obviously being a big one) but I there isn't nearly enough here to justify how long it took.

I mean there's no campaign or co-op of any sort. Only PVP multiplayer and it's not like it's a gigantic MMO or something either. It's a small arena-based hero shooter.

It's a real shame. The gameplay is there. There is fun to be had in Concord but there just isn't enough meat on the bone and what is there just isn't unique enough to really survive in the competitive market they are entering. I wish them luck and hope that Firewalk gets another shot after Concord. They got talent but I think they were just barking up the wrong tree here.

Re: Incredibly, Mafia: The Old Country Will Feature a Full Sicilian Dub on PS5

Korgon

That's really cool that they are putting forth the effort on doing that! I'll stick to English myself though. I don't really get a better experience from playing in a different language like some folks do. To myself it's more authentic in my head to play in my native language since I understand what is being said more naturally as opposed to reading a subtitle to understand what's happening.

I don't mind it if there isn't a choice. I've played and love all the Yakuza games after all for example. Just a preference is all.

Re: Square Enix Has Got Fans Talking About a Final Fantasy 13 Remake, Not a Remaster

Korgon

A remake could actually be exactly what 13 needs. It had some great ideas with the Paradigm system. My biggest gripe with it was trying to pick exactly what you want to do while combat is happening. Scurrying around a menu mid-fight was difficult but if they could just maybe slow down time like FF7R does that would make a big difference.

I actually don't hate 13. I had a fun enough time with it. It's just not one of my favorites but a few simple quality of life updates like the one I listed above and that could change.

Re: Cancellation of The Last of Us Online Was 'Not a Bloodless Endeavour'

Korgon

It really is too bad we probably will never see Naughty Dog get another crack at multiplayer. They never did get the credit they deserved for their previous efforts. Uncharted 2 is to this day probably my favorite online multiplayer shooter I've ever played. It was perfectly balanced, had excellent map design, and perfect pacing for what I'm looking for in a multiplayer game.

TLOU Factions was also right up there with Uncharted 2's as well. I was so excited to play Factions with TLOU2's mechanics.

It still feels bad man. ☹️

Re: Dead Rising's PS5 Remaster Will Strip Bonus Points for Erotic Photos

Korgon

I didn't really like Dead Rising much as a game but I did find the concept pretty funny of how this dude is basically taking wacky magazine cover shots of zombies in wacky situations. I always just saw it as a spoof on magazine covers rather than something meant to be titillating (I mean, they're friggin zombies for goodness sake, who would find that hot anyway!?) but well it is 2024.

There's just no room for different interpretation anymore. It's sad but that's just how it is.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won't Let You Control Companion Characters

Korgon

I must say it is a bit concerning when it seems like they are taking away more features than adding new ones. No control over teammates outside of the "Use this ability" option? A much more linear level design than previous games?

I say all this as someone who genuinely hopes this game does well. I just hope they know what they are doing.

Re: Movie Review: Borderlands - As Bland As the Brand It's Based On

Korgon

I like the Borderlands games well enough (2 in particular. That was the peak for series imo) but I never really had a desire for a movie based on the series. I actually don't mind Tiny Tina or Claptrap as characters but I also don't like them enough to desire to see them on the big screen. Borderlands main attraction is the great shooter mechanics in an open world game so a movie naturally isn't going to have those ingredients because...well...it's a movie.

Still, I might throw it on in the background when it comes to streaming services down the road.

Re: The Order: 1886 Dev Ready at Dawn to Close After VR Stint

Korgon

That's too bad. I actually really liked The Order 1886. Sure it had problems but I thought it was a solid first effort and would have loved to see a sequel.

Ghost of Sparta is also my second favorite of the series only behind GOW2. A really great game that was.

Ready at Dawn had some great talent so it's sad to see them go. Hopefully the devs land on their feet elsewhere.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Studio Really Will Try and Port the Game to PS4

Korgon

It will be interesting to see how it does for sure. I really enjoyed my time with Jedi Survivor last year but it did struggle performance-wise at times. Never enough to ruin the experience but it was noticeable.

Hogwarts Legacy ended up fine on the previous generation though so I can see Survivor doing just fine too. They have taken their sweet time with the port after all.

Re: Naughty Dog Allegedly Found Bungie's Feedback on Binned The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Extremely Helpful

Korgon

I don't blame Bungie for the cancelation of Factions 2. They were just doing what Sony brought them on to do which is provide feedback.

That said though, I will always kind of blame them for in many ways pioneering the live service model that has basically destroyed any chance of a game not named Call of Duty having both campaign and multiplayer options.

Of course the single player was the main attraction in TLOU1 but Factions was a big part of the package for many people too. I miss the PS3 era when games would experiment with a multiplayer mode along with the single player mode. Could it feel tacked-on at times? Sure but it also created something great at times like Factions.

Re: Like a Dragon: Yakuza Show Won't Have Time for Karaoke, But Singing 'May Come Eventually'

Korgon

As much as I love the silly side of Yakuza I do think this is the right choice, at least while the show is just getting started. They need to get an audience that isn't only the people that are already fans of the games on board.

Things like karaoke are fine in the game because, as a game, things like that are fun to do as a player. In a TV show? Especially one with only six episodes to begin with? I could see how they might lose people by giving off an impression the show is lacking focus.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Billion Dollar Bungie Buyout Is Looking More and More Like a Blunder

Korgon

It is kind of crazy how quickly things changed in such a short time. When Bungie was purchased, as stated in the article, the industry at large was on a merger/acquisition spree. The Bungie buyout did feel a bit weird considering they were going to operate independently originally. However, the idea of buying up a live service focused studio did make some sense at the time since Sony wanted (and still wants) into that market.

Fast forward a couple years and nobody is buying anyone big anymore, the Bungie purchase looks more and more like a blunder, and Sony has at least somewhat cut down on its live service desires thanks to a shift in leadership.

What's done is done. All we can do is hope the changes made today will move things in the right direction.

Re: Random: PS3 Is Now the Only Console from Its Era with a Functional Store

Korgon

Microsoft got away with it because they have a large amount of games that are backwards compatible anyway. (Say what you will about Microsoft but they are definitely the best of the 3 by a long shot in this department)

Nintendo got away with it because...well Nintendo gets away with everything.

Sony wanted to get away with it, received immense backlash because of no backwards compatibility alternative, and so decided to leave it up.

It's going to happen sooner or later but hopefully we will finally have some sort of backwards compatibility for PS3 by then. I think that's pretty much the only reason it's still standing. I hope we get it sometime because PS3 is still my favorite generation.

Re: PSVR2 Sales Explode After Sony's Deep Price Cut, Up More than 2000%

Korgon

I'll admit I'm a bit interested at that price. I do really want to play that Metro game coming out.
Unfortunately the sale came at a time where other things came up that demand the money I would have put into getting it. ☹️

Maybe if it's still at that price a couple weeks from now I'll consider it.
