Jesus Concord looks like regurgitated garbage. Aside from the ASTRO bot and monster hunter stans, the rest of this just didn't need to be Compiled into a state of play and had little interesting to show. The entire thing felt like a forced mess cobbled together because it's the time of the year when showcases occur.
If anything this just confirms the reason behind the discourse surrounding the waning perception of the Ps5 generation thus far, at least on the first party front.
All that aside this is about what I expected, so it's of little surprise.
The fact that it's just a small 30 min state of play and not a showcase is very telling.
Temper your expectations, as this is going to be another very underwhelming showing from an out of touch Sony. Unless you are really Looking forward to Concord, Destiny, or the other live service garbage in the works.
Concord is the safest bet considering they are claiming it's releasing this year and all we have seen of it is a lame cg trailer for it.
I was hoping Sony would realize post Jimbo that their image has taken a big hit over the Ps5 life cycle thus far, but apparently the tone deaf nature of their plans and consumer relations is far more systemic.
So glad I let My yearly sub lapse. Just not worth it save for a few random gems every now and then that can be enjoyed with just one time monthly sub if I see fit.
People keep referencing the finals alongside suggesting people want new lame FPS shooters and it serves As some breakout success story... However it's hype and player count started dying quite quickly after launch. This garbage is getting old.
Great and all but I could care less about this game. Not because I'm some blindly allegiant Sony zombie, as we all know I'm certainly not. It's because this is not a game in my eyes and more an experience.
One too afraid to be a game in favor of doubling down on the original rather than see the series actually undergo a metamorphosis into more than just a slightly interactive cg movie. With the dev time and additional financial backing that this had, one would have thought some level of addressing it's precessors shortcomings would have been considered.
Even at 49.99, this is just an overpriced visual experience masquerading as a game.
Hopefully their next project is an actual game with some more depth or they just accept being a movie maker or vr experience maker and fully dive into that.
This will happen to defiant as well. People don't want more fps live service schemes.
It was a huge mistake for Ubisoft to cancel a third person survival action shooter. There is a demand for more non first person games like these Ala hell divers.
These fps ones just won't break through, it's too late for that.
Yeeeesh. So glad I finally let my sub lapse. This just doesn't justify a long-term sub when interesting titles are so few and far between if you regularly game and have played most of the years old staples.
Let mine lapse this month. It's just not a value at this price and Sony essentially nuking third party sales for the service.
It's far cheaper for me to just buy the mostly older and likely discounted games if I want to try them or simply pay for it a month if there's really something that compels it.
Yes yes, let's cheerlead corporate profits via rate hikes. 👌
I finally let go of ps plus this month. It's just not something I was getting actual value from. Sure there was a handful of games I wasn't interested enough to buy that I got to try but ultimately one clear problem exists that makes the model pretty valueless for me especially with the price gouging:
Most of what is on offer is old stuff I've already played because I wanted to play it near or shortly after release or got on steep discount. Not enough new is being added to the library because their isn't much new to add as the ps suite has slowed due to bloated dev time. Them shunning investing in day 1 releases yet charging more only makes this worse.
It's just not worth it for me to shill out what they are asking when in reality if there is something I actually want to play that comes along I could just pay a one month fee or buy it on sale or used, play it and move on.
Wait so some of you are applauding this as another reason to lick Sony's boots.
Do you not see how ridiculous and shady it is to shutter a studio, then turn around and start another one poaching the talent and gaining full creative control in the process.
This is just so bizarre. Basically after saying they were backtracking on the hell divers fiasco (which they still haven't), they locked out the same 180 countries with a largely single player game.
Potentially hundreds of thousands of sales or more just to get them locked into some ps plus bs or is it that you plan to implement a ps plus requirement to play these games?
Newsflash Aholes, that just won't fly in the pc space...
It's clear the mismgmt of Sony's gaming division went well beyond OLD Jimbo.
This game is just overhyped arthouse critics fodder. I have a feeling everyone is going to praise this up again but ultimately no one is actually playing it and it will be a letdown financially
I hope I'm wrongbut this was a lot of dev time for another short, 6 - 8 hr samey on rails/qte filled walking simulator experience that isn't looking to expand on the scope and success of why people seemed to like this back then. Despite many of those features being extremely dated now.
This game is due out in less than a month and we've seen next to nothing of it. This has flop written all over it.
I genuinely don't care, although I do think the efforts to port have proven to end up taking valuable first party studio dev time to ultimately fix these often sloppy port/remaster factory dev team efforts.
It's hilarious that some gamers are armchair judging those that successfully rallied to enact backlash which served to incite change. you act like footsoldiers for a corporation above all else. It's frankly just sad.
We see you cheer corporate exclusivity gating along with profits shared in earnings calls like mindless zombies, and yet attack hundreds of thousands of gamers in nearly 150 countries losing the ability to play a game over corporate red tape.
Wtf is wrong with you people. Hate to break it to you, but it's not using a forum like reviews as intended to share thoughts on a game that is the problem. It's you and your mindless allegiance to a brand above all else that condones continued degradation of the medium.
It continues to appear that in reality, Sony bootlickers are some of the most toxic people in gaming.
@o2w4e yeah but let's be real here they're not actually doing much of that model they just increased prices and chopped up what they already offered.
They don't do day and date releases for any major titles whatsoever just a few Indie projects or maybe something that's been self-published but no they aren't even doing the model they just increased prices to siphon more Money from their install base.
It was incredibly stupid for playstation to raise the price and do this tier bs just to try and siphon more from fans. I let mine lapse last week. I'll miss the few games I didn't want to buy popping up. I won't miss being price gouged and not getting anything new for it.
This is just sad and the nasty consequence of this ever concentrated ownership of massive suites of studios. I feel for Those affected.
That being said tango game works haven't put out a major success in some time. Ghostwire was overly mid and didn't financially do well. As Much as HI Fi rush has been a talking point darling, sales wise it was just OK due to it releasing straight into gamepass and it being a rhythm game and by default very niche.
I actually feel more for Arkane Austin. They were likely forced by their own internal greed lord's and/or Bethesda/zeni to make that failed live service garbage. Dooming them to failure and enormous talent exodus even prior to this. As much as everyone wants to blame the overlords when these shutters happen, I often do as well. It's also important to understand these things rarely occur to studios pushing out successful games.
The original one is definitely one of my pile of shame games I never tried. At the time and honestly still, the rogue like/rogue lite, top down or 2D sides scroller game boom is just so stale and over saturated that I avoided this one despite it's praise.
Maybe I'll give it a go. Just not a fan of what rogue likes do, which is essentially pad out run time by recycling content over and over as a gameplay loop. Although on the flipside I loved returnal but that was a special gem in it's own league imo.
Genuinely. Asking here: what is the appeal of this game? It had mid reviews and very mediocre combat according to many. It's also a Mtx ridden live service game that isn't free to play.
So what is the special sauce that keeps such a player base and rare doing nothing else for for 6 years.
People rooting for corporate interests and profiteering rather than the people using their voice and action to incite change is frankly disgusting.
I applaud the backlash and am happy to see that the people, when loud enough, can still compel change.
"You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."
@somnambulance question, I'm on the fence about picking up either Ff16, Ronin, or Dragons Dogma 2. What about Ff16 makes you see it as superior to dd2?
@Savage_Joe so these people were merely being able to play just because it was temporarily disabled or could they have still signed up for a psn account in those countries regardless. If so why would Sony delist rather than force the sign up regardless. To just delist and refund seems pretty insane. There must be some corporate legal red tape forcing this *****
Holy *****, that's a bold move. Bizarre. Is the psn requirement necessary for anything other than trophy implementation? Are other pc ports requiring it? You don't need ps plus to play hell divers I assume right? Could this signal an attempt to monetize the ability to engage online play again with a ps plus requirement in the future? Otherwise I genuinely don't see why you wouldn't just forgo the requirement in regions it's not possible rather than lose the money on refunds and the micro transaction schemes.
Their has to be some ulterior corporate greed driven motive for all the this. Because they are souring the perception of many toward one of the only successful Sony published live service games ever for it.
The problem isn't a matter of third or first party release schrdules in my opinion. It's the nature of the content delivered and It's threefold:
(1) It's a lack of genuine ingenuity and creativity. Thus we get lame walking simulators and repetitive sequel factories alongside the constant double dipping via remasterakes and live service trash. WASTING NEAR DECADES of dev time on this garbage is why Sony is where it is.
(2) An industry wide trend of releasing games unfinished and/or technically unpolished effectively charging gamers to beta test.
(3) Greed. cutting and gatekeeping content in the interest of charging extra for it later.
It really has pushed me to step back from playing games during their release. There is little reason to aside from fomo when you can play them more complete, and technically finished on discount with a little patience. As far as the remakes, Fing STOP.
Sony has turned too far into the direction of greed driven operandi in the vein of EA, Activision, etc. Third parties have always been there and largely operate the same way, and won't solve the problem. Until gamers push back nothing will change. Be prepared for the flood of generic mostly AI created games to come...
I can't even bring myself to give this game a go at its current 50% markdown. These super easy action game combat systems just aren't what I wanted in a mainline FF title. I was so stoked with the initial reveal when it appeared to be a darker more mature toned medieval themed rpg.
Maybe on ps plus or something but having played the demo, and read up on it extensively, the combat, linearity, and phoned in/tacked on rpg elements just don't appeal to me.
It seems more a game to watch in awe of its spectacle and less about engaging gameplay, exploration, etc. Rebirth is in the same boat. It released so technically unpolished and bloated I just can't(same with DD2 honestly).
Square needs a true reorg
Still hoping no rest for the Wicked is as good as many are saying though!
A 7 is very generous. I played just a couple hrs and immediately remembered why I put this game down after buying the Goty edition and playing through a great deal of it and all of far harbor. It's just a janky boring looter shooter, where the loot is completely pointless once you invest in modding weapons. Then you do that and become so ridiculously op that the game is broken.
Couple that with extremely lame quests and story and it all really just doesn't work. Ironically they doubled down on nearly every aspect of what went wrong with this title in Starfield.
I shouldn't have wasted my time thinking this game would somehow be better with a framerate boost.
It's not.
@MrBook I hear you to some degree but the first Gothic is nearly 24 years old. And the newest entry in the series still like 15 years old. That would put a significant amount of those that played these games Back in the day, likely pushing 40 or more.
So I would assume this remake is also aimed at younger players whom never played the originals. Even if it's not I assume those that did like Gothic, would want to know if this is a marked improvement on the many shortcomings of those eurojank pioneers.
Either way we have seen literally nothing aside from a trailer and a small statement on the game and it was announced years ago. Now we see them peddling editions and teasing release dates yet we have seen almost nothing of the actual game. Pretty valid to see that as a bit of a red flag.
To be honest it's just too little too LATE. Bethesda is just so far behind the curve even now in terms of gameplay mechanics and quest design. Even so back when this released. I kind of went into playing it yesterday with rose tinted glasses and got a reality check real quick.
It's just so dated and janky that it's honestly not even great exploring as there is no real challenge or meaningful story beats to compel most of the endless loot especially when even most of that is often trash to be diacarded or sold.
They really need a complete overhaul of their engine and design philosophy, otherwise they are going to have more starfield like receptions going forward.
put a couple hours or so in, with a deep into the game save, With the necc mods available. It's a noticeable bump in framerate indoors, but in the open world it's less distinguishable from the 30 fps mode in terms of fluidity.
Aside from that, it's a 9 year old Bethesda title on an engine already archaic at the time. So temper your expectations, as aside from the framerate bump it's a barebones upgrade. Combat, movement, and visuals all janky/clunky as hell.
Make sure you DL and enable the graphical improvement mods to at least help somewhat. Enjoy exploring

@LiamCroft gotcha. Thanks.
Also if you already have the ps4 version downloaded do you assume this is likely a completely seperate download rather than an update to the existing ps4 edition?
It got a lot of 8s but I wonder just how. Much hype and/or nerd thirst played in bumping this up from a 6 or 7, as the negatives seem to be significant enough and a consensus across dozens of reviews. All the discourse surrounding its shameless sexualisation really turned out to be successful marketing.
May wait on this as it's linearity and somewhat basic mechanics often get a bit easy and stale for me. Couple that with the consensus on bland side quests, story, and dialog could really heighten that stale feeling for me. I'm already blessed with a stunning wife, so the digital thirsting has no pull.
The reviews read a lot like a 7. The monster designs seem pretty sweet though, and thank god they offered a short hair option, as that long hair looks janky as hell The latency was super. Noticeable in that demo as well.
It is nice to see an old school like playstation game though, and somewhat surprising debut when you set aside the mysoginy.
It was honestly just a great rendition of the source material. Looking forward to the next season. Although Maximus wasnt really performed well. It felt like I was getting ptsd from the godawful Finn character in the recent star wars trilogy.

Perhaps show us some actually footage and share some info on the game before peddling collectors editions
We know next to new thing about this game.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Stellar Blade?
Not for full price. Nope
Re: Hands On: Fallout 4 Next-Gen Runs Great on PS5, But Some Old Problems Persist
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Fallout 4's Next-Gen Version?
put a couple hours or so in, with a deep into the game save, With the necc mods available.

Re: Fallout 4 Next Gen Update Release Times: When Can You Play the New Version?
@Loamy cool. Thanks
Re: Fallout 4 Next Gen Update Release Times: When Can You Play the New Version?
@LiamCroft gotcha. Thanks.
Also if you already have the ps4 version downloaded do you assume this is likely a completely seperate download rather than an update to the existing ps4 edition?
Re: Fallout 4 Next Gen Update Release Times: When Can You Play the New Version?
@LiamCroft looking forward to this but do we know exactly what improvements have been done for the new versions? Is it more than just getting 60fps?

Re: Stellar Blade (PS5) - A Stellar PS5 Debut Destined to Become a Fan Favourite

@Kidfunkadelic83 that's is one thing we agree on

Re: Fallout Will Officially Shoot a Second Season on Amazon Prime
It was honestly just a great rendition of the source material. Looking forward to the next season. Although Maximus wasnt really performed well. It felt like I was getting ptsd from the godawful Finn character in the recent star wars trilogy.
That aside it was overall excellent.
Re: Despite Hype, Analyst Says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Underperforming'
That's what happens when you rush out an unpolished product. You get a big chunk of people totally cool with waiting for a sale.
