If this is overpriced and not announced along dedicated software, it won't sell well.
Especially with the improvements totally bypassing the cpu which will now actually be slower. The machine learning Could be good but Also could be terrible. Most games are using FSR for console and that IS In it's third iteration and still is absolute garbage visually. Yet devs are using it as a crutch to expedite optomization by having native resolutions at sub 720p and often way lower than that. I highly doubt Sony's will be better at launch.
I personally wouldn't spend more than 500 in it. In this economic climate with price gouging destroying consumer confidence, they would be far smarter to lower the base model ps5 price and price this as the Ps5 was at release.
They won't do that likely, as in all reality the run on the original at release is probably informing their expectations for this. However if it's anywhere 600ish and beyond you are only roping in those that will get it regardless which is absolutely a smaller pool.
Curious you really glossed over the fact that the game's framerate tanks horribly in the performance mode. With even drops into the 30s during the swarm combat sections which are essentially the core gameplay loop.
Apparently the XboxX is significantly better in the taxing swarm parts, but in general the performance mode is not near locked 60 and extremely Subpar on ps5.
Sounds like this is just better off played at 30fps on PS5.
@riceNpea I find it Bizarre that we continue to cite hell divers 2 as An example of a live service success. It isn't. It was an intitial sales success that exceeded expectations.
We continue to reference this game Over and over again despite the reality that that if the pc player count is any indication, which it almost always is to some degree, then Hell Divers 2 has lost 95% of its player base in just 7 months.
It has been largely Mismanaged since release and had it not had a price tag It for entry it would be considered a live service failure just like the many others that have flopped in the last two years. In fact I would say that helldivers too is a prime example of what Sony was hoping would occur with concord and a prime reason why they chose to charge an initial price for the game. While Concord was an immediate failure, Hell Divers 2 has failed to stop the hemorrhaging of players in just over half a year of its live service lifetime.
Such a ridiculous Reach to equate a few add-ons to market an upcoming new iteration of. The ip as live service. We all know what we are referring to when we air our distaste for the model. I don't know why you are reaching and schilling for the model in the way you are, as I'm positive you know as well what the term is referring to in the minds of the gamer and the greed driven investors that keep trying to push it.
I actually agree with the dude here, but whining about it while spending the better part of a decade squashing most of the ip you do have, pumping put repetitive sequels and chasing trends will do that to you. This got me thinking though: I wonder how much of the population that is buying into these Early Access premiums are actually streamers and content creators or whatever they want to call themselves that have an incentive to be able to get their videos out earliest. There are at least eight 5 or 6 reviews thus far with only 20 posted. That's nearly half of the reviews ews suggesting the game is mediocre. The remaining are much higher. When the divide is this noticeable history tends to prove that the reality is usually that the game is mid at best.
Either way when 5s are at play and the average is 69, you have to read several opinions and take gameplay and demos into account, as it's clearly got significant negatives for some, yet they may not be negative for you.
for most this game is going to be pretty garbo, although with how little these things are games and how Niche the genre and fan base is for this B movie cosplay, I suspect those folks have beergoggles on in terms of their opinions of another opportunity for such.

The problem is that they had to work within the game design philosophy/framework and toolsets provided by Ubisoft, which are very shallow,, repetitive anti strong narrative, coupled with an aging engine and horrible AI.
However, it's baffling however that massive whom have made strong cover based shooting mechanics in the past coupled with Ubisoft who have built an empire on stealth gameplay produced a game that does both of these worse than any other game in their respective portfolios.
Looking forward to Enotria and space marine. Not interested in much else unless veilguard is more than what it appears to be be. Which so far seems like a very linear corridor into combat arena design.
Astrobot is definitely not my thing and for all the hype it feels like an obvious and weak distraction for how little Sony has put out or even communicated on this year. I get it, it's a solid gimmicky platformer, advert and nostalgia piece wrapped into one. Just not my thing at full price, as I know for me, the loop will grow repetitive and tired after a dozen stages or so. I used to love platformers like this but I prefer them in the vein of an open area design like jak and Dax to foster exploration, and not just challenge gimmick stages like a crash band.
Insanity that Space Marine 2 is thrown into the extra section when by the looks of previews it's going to be a game of the year contender.
Zero interest in a remake that doesn't even attempt to do more than the bare minimum. It's sad that the media is framing reusing the same 20 year old animations, assets, voice, etc as a "faithful remake."
when let's be honest here, that's a lazy remake at best and in all reality just a remaster.
Sony basically doesn't market anything anymore so that's not a. Really strong counterpoint to the rumor. Sure deathloop was pushed years ago, however in the last few years they have basically sat back and put as little effort into. Marketing, gamer and media engagement as a whole.
Whatever is going on with them internally is not great at best and in all reality it feels like The most anti gamer, greed driven, and complacent time in the entire playstation history.
It makes zero sense that this game has issues on the more powerful and "pc like architecture" in the series x. totally can understand it being unplayable on the S though, As it runs with downgrades and technical issues on the PS5, and the dev has admitted getting better performance in patches is a ways off in possibility. Xbox has already walked back the "need to run on x and s," policy in previous releases, so it's hard to believe they wouldn't do so with a title like Wukong that had a lot of hype, and was clearly going to be visually heavy performance wise.
The real reason this is happening all over the place is the fact the corporate overlords dictating the direction and longevity of these projects aren't gamers and are funding them to coax over player numbers from the core sector of gatcha and live service addicts to their new products. Despite the increasing database of evidence that the ship of getting a successful amount of that market share has sailed.
The other major issue is the fact that those addicts aren't gamers plain and simple. They are a completely different beast altogether and should be considered as such.
Trying to present your scheme as a game to gamers just isn't going to work when they aren't the target audience and what they are peddling is no game. Most of us see this garbage for what it is and won't be fooled.
For that pot of gold of lost souls sucked into these things;. Its like trying to get an addict to fundamentally change from a Drug they are already addicted to, toward another drug that does the exact same thing but is a different color. Despite the first drug having been used for so long and the receptors in the brain so used to it for the responses it's now a crutch for after years of use.
Just look at the very few that have managed to garner a decent release window audience and be considered successes on sites like this. Ie hell divers, The Finals, The First Descendant, palworld. The player Numbers have completely dropped off a cliff as the addicts go back to there drug of choice, or actual gamers having been lured to try the new trending drug due to peer pressure. All. The while Bg3 a single Player GAME that came before them all has a higher daily engagement now than they do a couple Months after their releases. Hopefully games like Wukong show these scumbags that making actual games can still be massive financial Successes.
It's just not gonna happen for the vast majority of these new drugs being peddled, Oops I mean games, nope wrong again,... Corporate schemes.
I'm all in on this one. Lies of p was great, and in many ways a step above the aging bones of the "copy and paste roughly the same unchanged thing with a modestly different coat of paint" formula that fromsoft has been milking for 15 years.
100% a wait for sale. Played far too mamy Ubi games at full price to experience the same repetition and lack of depth boredom before completing it. I k ow better now.. They are great mindless easy games for about half of retail or less. They unfortunately hold no value beyond that for me with how homogeneous, watered down, and Formulaic their designs have become.

They apparently nailed the star wars esthetic, and the story is OK enough despite the writing.
Sounds like they really flubbed the combat Traversal and stealth with oversimplification, garbage Ubisoft enemy AI, vastly lower visual npc models and typical repetition boredom that plagues nearly every UBI game due to a lack of depth, despite this being shorter for them. In addition, poor optomization, bugs and possible memory issues. Hard pass.
I've learned that Ubisoft targets the same formula regardless of the skin the game is wearing and it almost always grows stale and remains in a safe generic area. I think they know this as well, as they more than any other major publisher, throw their games on sale soonest after release. For me that has amounted to a never paying full price for their games after having been burnt on not facing this fact and jumping in at full price far too many times.
We already knew this game had competent shooting mechanics. It's still a generic attempt and massive failure merely because nobody wanted this. That's it, end of story.

Definitely a sale item for me specifically due to the poor level design and input latency which Is something I notice and get pulled out of the fun zone when it is a consistent thing.
It's kind of a bummer they didnt better design the levels and instead just used invisible walls. It's another immersion breaker.

I actually don't think they will be able to Make the game run any better at the framerate targeted in performance mode if they had to use frame Gen to Even get there. It was never meant to be used this way and suggests the cuts would have to Be even more massive to the visuals to even remotely come close to 60, and with FSR in play that's just not something I want to pay full price for as FSR is consistently a very poor reconstruction option in terms of. Visuals.
It is understandable that people are having fun with it, however it does make sense why they didnt give out ps5 codes pre-Launch. they knew this was a very handicapped version of the game.
I only ask because I was about to pull the trigger on it but after that report I'm hesitant.. As I'm super sensitive to control input lag and it's something that can really annoy and spoil an experience when I'm messing with sensitivity controls more than playing the game.
I may just jump in and give it a go. Do you think it could use a few. More patches before playing? Although doing that with Dragons Dogma 2 would have been pointless as those technical issues have never been addressed meaningfully lol, but ironically they didn't Bother Me Much.
According to DF, The input latency when playing in performance mode (the only just OK but has problems mode), is bad. Can people that play this and aren't wearing rose tinted glasses confirm this?
Aside from visuals if the input lag is bad in the only sometimes smooth mode, it's definitely a wait for me in a. Fast paced combat game like this.

The folks in the "built from the ground up." crowd; I just don't get what reality you are living in their own promotional trailers primarily tout the graphical Improvement and in some side By side comparisons they have released, it's sometimes a modest improvements at that.
Time after time we have seen remakes that smell just Like this, are priced just like this, that are defended by the bootlickers, but largely criticized by those looking at the big picture trajectory of what these ever increasing cash grabs mean for the industry. Especially as the prevalence of automated development tools replacing actual dev costs increases alongside it.
I do think it's another huge performance related red flag that the embargo for talking about/playing the Ps5 version is the day before it releases, and is yet far sooner for the pc version. They are basically saying without saying that performance and/or visuals are drastically hindered to get it to run on PS5.
Definitely not good. Also happy to hear the bosses are fun, but pretty letdown to hear the level design is basic, sterile and don't offer much of a reason or ability to explore much unless you want to find the invisible wall barrier surrounding it all in every single area. Bummer, the previews and showcases really Made it look they may have gone all out in world design. Not really interested in just a pretty boss rush action game for full price, especially one that likely runs like garbage on console. Definitely a wait situation and likely a wait for sale situation if it's doesn't get fixed.
Sounds like even on PC it's janky at times and full of bugs.

Looking forward to Enotria and space marine. Not interested in much else unless veilguard is more than what it appears to be be. Which so far seems like a very linear corridor into combat arena design.
Astrobot is definitely not my thing and for all the hype it feels like an obvious and weak distraction for how little Sony has put out or even communicated on this year. I get it, it's a solid gimmicky platformer, advert and nostalgia piece wrapped into one. Just not my thing at full price, as I know for me, the loop will grow repetitive and tired after a dozen stages or so. I used to love platformers like this but I prefer them in the vein of an open area design like jak and Dax to foster exploration, and not just challenge gimmick stages like a crash band.
Insanity that Space Marine 2 is thrown into the extra section when by the looks of previews it's going to be a game of the year contender.

Zero interest in a remake that doesn't even attempt to do more than the bare minimum. It's sad that the media is framing reusing the same 20 year old animations, assets, voice, etc as a "faithful remake."
when let's be honest here, that's a lazy remake at best and in all reality just a remaster.

Sony basically doesn't market anything anymore so that's not a. Really strong counterpoint to the rumor. Sure deathloop was pushed years ago, however in the last few years they have basically sat back and put as little effort into. Marketing, gamer and media engagement as a whole.
Whatever is going on with them internally is not great at best and in all reality it feels like The most anti gamer, greed driven, and complacent time in the entire playstation history.
It makes zero sense that this game has issues on the more powerful and "pc like architecture" in the series x. totally can understand it being unplayable on the S though, As it runs with downgrades and technical issues on the PS5, and the dev has admitted getting better performance in patches is a ways off in possibility. Xbox has already walked back the "need to run on x and s," policy in previous releases, so it's hard to believe they wouldn't do so with a title like Wukong that had a lot of hype, and was clearly going to be visually heavy performance wise.

The real reason this is happening all over the place is the fact the corporate overlords dictating the direction and longevity of these projects aren't gamers and are funding them to coax over player numbers from the core sector of gatcha and live service addicts to their new products. Despite the increasing database of evidence that the ship of getting a successful amount of that market share has sailed.
The other major issue is the fact that those addicts aren't gamers plain and simple. They are a completely different beast altogether and should be considered as such.
Trying to present your scheme as a game to gamers just isn't going to work when they aren't the target audience and what they are peddling is no game. Most of us see this garbage for what it is and won't be fooled.
For that pot of gold of lost souls sucked into these things;. Its like trying to get an addict to fundamentally change from a Drug they are already addicted to, toward another drug that does the exact same thing but is a different color. Despite the first drug having been used for so long and the receptors in the brain so used to it for the responses it's now a crutch for after years of use.
Just look at the very few that have managed to garner a decent release window audience and be considered successes on sites like this. Ie hell divers, The Finals, The First Descendant, palworld. The player Numbers have completely dropped off a cliff as the addicts go back to there drug of choice, or actual gamers having been lured to try the new trending drug due to peer pressure. All. The while Bg3 a single Player GAME that came before them all has a higher daily engagement now than they do a couple Months after their releases. Hopefully games like Wukong show these scumbags that making actual games can still be massive financial Successes.
It's just not gonna happen for the vast majority of these new drugs being peddled, Oops I mean games, nope wrong again,... Corporate schemes.

I'm all in on this one. Lies of p was great, and in many ways a step above the aging bones of the "copy and paste roughly the same unchanged thing with a modestly different coat of paint" formula that fromsoft has been milking for 15 years.

100% a wait for sale. Played far too mamy Ubi games at full price to experience the same repetition and lack of depth boredom before completing it. I k ow better now.. They are great mindless easy games for about half of retail or less. They unfortunately hold no value beyond that for me with how homogeneous, watered down, and Formulaic their designs have become.
Looking forward to the guaranteed price drop in 6 months or so though! 👍

They apparently nailed the star wars esthetic, and the story is OK enough despite the writing.
Sounds like they really flubbed the combat Traversal and stealth with oversimplification, garbage Ubisoft enemy AI, vastly lower visual npc models and typical repetition boredom that plagues nearly every UBI game due to a lack of depth, despite this being shorter for them. In addition, poor optomization, bugs and possible memory issues. Hard pass.
I've learned that Ubisoft targets the same formula regardless of the skin the game is wearing and it almost always grows stale and remains in a safe generic area. I think they know this as well, as they more than any other major publisher, throw their games on sale soonest after release. For me that has amounted to a never paying full price for their games after having been burnt on not facing this fact and jumping in at full price far too many times.

Sony needs a much more comprehensive change in leadership. This game should have been canned a long long time ago, and had they stopped their complete ghosting of the player base anytime in the last several years, they would have even more so seen that very obvious writing on the wall for this project. Even that aside, how do you not see the responses and lack of engagement to the beta as a clear signal that this isn't it in its current form.
Granted money would have been lost for sure. However riding this out to release with all the marketing, all the additional dev payroll is just complete Mismanagement and bad business as well as another toxic attempt at predation on the gaming community following the putrid smell of greed wafting from the few successful schemes still operational. Over a hundred mill wasted here, nearly 4 bill on Bungie.......
This is exactly one of the many reasons that Sony's ridiculous 'hide everything until the release window' policy is just idiocy. As is there incessant aims to chase endless growth with as little creativity and effort possible.

Definitely a sale item for me specifically due to the poor level design and input latency which Is something I notice and get pulled out of the fun zone when it is a consistent thing.
It's kind of a bummer they didnt better design the levels and instead just used invisible walls. It's another immersion breaker.
Sounds like it will be good, simple fun when it's at a price point that works for me with those shortcomings.

This is exactly why I'm waiting on it. Input lag is my biggest gaming pet peave. Appreciate all that chimed in now realizing they've experienced it or not noticed it.

I actually don't think they will be able to Make the game run any better at the framerate targeted in performance mode if they had to use frame Gen to Even get there. It was never meant to be used this way and suggests the cuts would have to Be even more massive to the visuals to even remotely come close to 60, and with FSR in play that's just not something I want to pay full price for as FSR is consistently a very poor reconstruction option in terms of. Visuals.
It is understandable that people are having fun with it, however it does make sense why they didnt give out ps5 codes pre-Launch. they knew this was a very handicapped version of the game.

I only ask because I was about to pull the trigger on it but after that report I'm hesitant.. As I'm super sensitive to control input lag and it's something that can really annoy and spoil an experience when I'm messing with sensitivity controls more than playing the game.
I may just jump in and give it a go. Do you think it could use a few. More patches before playing? Although doing that with Dragons Dogma 2 would have been pointless as those technical issues have never been addressed meaningfully lol, but ironically they didn't Bother Me Much.

According to DF, The input latency when playing in performance mode (the only just OK but has problems mode), is bad. Can people that play this and aren't wearing rose tinted glasses confirm this?
Aside from visuals if the input lag is bad in the only sometimes smooth mode, it's definitely a wait for me in a. Fast paced combat game like this.

Such a ridicous investment. Sony has put too many out of touch idiots in positions they shouldn't be in. I get it, corporations are in it to make money and do so with max potential returns.
However, if you don't at least sprinkle people into the corporate pyramid that actually enjoy gaming and keep an ear to the player base you get the losses Sony is going to continue to face with Destiny, Concord, factions, and any other bad decision we still haven't heard of, beyond effectively ghosting your fan base for an entire generation thus far.
How development of this generic project was allowed to continue, and so late in the game for such a Saturated genre and make the decision to charge $40 is proof enough that there are real problems at sony and it extends far beyond Jim Ryans legacy.

Hard to tell Anything from this video because of the very low quality capture.
However DF dissected concerns and it's clear that a grest deal of reconstruction is being used. I really hope. It's not FSR2. It is such a terrible option that gets the devs performance but the blurry mess the gamer rneds up with is just not it,. Especially when there are better option available.
The downgrades are clearly enough that they chose to hide it by withholding review code until release.

The folks in the "built from the ground up." crowd; I just don't get what reality you are living in their own promotional trailers primarily tout the graphical Improvement and in some side By side comparisons they have released, it's sometimes a modest improvements at that.
Time after time we have seen remakes that smell just Like this, are priced just like this, that are defended by the bootlickers, but largely criticized by those looking at the big picture trajectory of what these ever increasing cash grabs mean for the industry. Especially as the prevalence of automated development tools replacing actual dev costs increases alongside it.

I do think it's another huge performance related red flag that the embargo for talking about/playing the Ps5 version is the day before it releases, and is yet far sooner for the pc version. They are basically saying without saying that performance and/or visuals are drastically hindered to get it to run on PS5.
Definitely not good. Also happy to hear the bosses are fun, but pretty letdown to hear the level design is basic, sterile and don't offer much of a reason or ability to explore much unless you want to find the invisible wall barrier surrounding it all in every single area.
Bummer, the previews and showcases really Made it look they may have gone all out in world design.
Not really interested in just a pretty boss rush action game for full price, especially one that likely runs like garbage on console.
Definitely a wait situation and likely a wait for sale situation if it's doesn't get fixed.
