Re: Glimpse Rise of the Ronin's PS5-Powered Depiction of 1800s Japan

Mintie

As someone who loved Nioh 2 but felt a bit disappointed with Wolong I cannot wait for the next combat focused Dev Diary.

What I'm hoping for from Ronin is for something with a similar high skill ceiling to Nioh but with more of a Ghost of Tsushima feel (with a with a lil Sekiro thrown in)

Wolong failed there (for me) because it ended up feeling like diluted Nioh with the parry-spam as a replacement to the deep loot+skills builds of Nioh 2.

Re: Microsoft Has Apparently Been Stocking Up on PS5 Devkits as Xbox Pivots

It'll be interesting if it is the whole catalogue coming over... What I'm actually expecting is that the traditionally multiplatform stuff will come over and games like Starfield that started as multiplatform and later became exclusive will also make the jump... but the firmly entrenched IP like Gears, Halo won't make the jump.

I'm also expecting and okay with MS titles taking a chunk of time to come over with a few exceptions - I waited a year for Rise of The Tomb Raider and it was worth it.

Re: Stellar Blade's Japanese Dub Won't Be Available Worldwide, But Korean Will

Mintie

English it is then because I quite liked the UK based VO

This is probably down to my limited exposure to the language outside of several K-dramas that I really enjoyed on Netflix, but in games I always find Korean a bit flat, like they could mourning a loved one or reciting their shopping list.

If anyone has recommendations for something with solid Korean dubs I wouldn't mind acclimatising to the language outside of live action stuff.

Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Reload Lines Up The Answer as DLC

Mintie

Oh I can see ATLUS doing this and then doing a whole other game with the FeMC... because it just gives them more versions to be sold

Base game
Base game + The Answer DLC
FeMC base game
FeMC base game + The Answer 1.5 DLC
Persona 3 Re-assembled Ultra Deluxe

Gods, I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?

Mintie

@Onigumo I honestly don't think I'd call 4 bad, just my least fave of the bunch so far. I'm at the half-way point in 5 now and it is almost like the writing team had a massive upgrade in some respect... anywho, time to go be Haruka and do the Idol nonsense the poor girl has to suffer through.

Re: Persona 3 Reload Really Is a Gorgeous Remake in First 50 Mins of Uncut Gameplay

Mintie

Knowing Atlus and their history I do wonder if they'll do the same double release for ReFantazio... will we get a Re-Election edition in a year?

With P3 Reload I'm probably going to do a fast and loose playthrough on Game Pass and save the completionist run for when the FES/Golden/Royale edition comes out because it will happen - they cut too much from the old complete version not to.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 513

Mintie

I'm still on my Yakuza series playthrough kick I started last week... I started Yakuza 4 last night (I'm focusing main story so I don't get burnt out on the side story stuff) and I'm not sure how I feel about this entry so far, but I'm sticking with it. Game Pass has them all up to LAD;Y so I'm good for a few more weeks.

If I need a break I might fire up Avatar FoP for a bit OR finally jump... heh climb on to Jusant.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 512

Mintie

I'm chipping away at my second BG3 playthrough to get the Platinum, just need to not ***** up Karlach's romance... My Durge also needs to get drunk and kill people, which should be easy enough.

Besides that I'm going to jump into Palworld with some chums to commit war crimes against the local wildlife!

AAAAAND I had the realisation that I don't remember anything from the first three Yakuza games so whilst I have Game Pass I'm going to bomb through them focusing on the main story - I'm half way through Yakuza Kiwami

@mwatcher seriously;

Perry (born April 10, 1794, South Kingston, R.I., U.S.—died March 4, 1858, New York City) U.S. naval officer who headed an expedition that forced Japan in 1853–54 to enter into trade and diplomatic relations with the West after more than two centuries of isolation.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 511

Mintie

This should be my final weekend of BG3 tunnel vision, last night I saved just before the point of not return. I have all my ducks in a row and they are armed to the teeth and as ready as I can make them.

If I finish today then I'll be taking a break before starting a Dark Urge run by playing some Avatar FoP!

Re: Poll: Which Persona Game Has the Best Opening?

Mintie

P4G is like distilled joy, I wish I could get my regular gaming chums into the Persona games but the required playtime is a big ask but boy do I think their lives would be 'bettered' from the addition.

That being said I am going to wait for the inevitable Golden/Royal/Extra edition of P3 Reload... I need but, but I also do not have time to play through two different versions of it - there are too many long-ass games to play currently.

Re: Push Square Readers' 20 Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2024

Mintie

I'm currently suffering from Immediacy Bias, having Granblue so close has me vibrating with excitement.

Rise of The Ronin also has my attention, the lack of Team Ninja's usual alpha/beta combat tuning feels off though and maybe it means it won't be as deliciously tough.

Then there's Dragon's Dogma 2... Oh Dragon's Dogma 2 how I can't wait to throw my pawns off of cliffs again instead of waiting for the AI to figure out a way down.

Re: Analysts Anticipate a Tougher Year for Live Service As Sony Aims to Infiltrate Sector

@themightyant absolutely spot on with Hyper-focus on first party and the deluge of quality games from elsewhere. It's like when you read comments on 2024's upcoming games and people go 'Oh nothing on there for me' and I just end up thinking 'what is wrong with you, are you even into gaming as a hobby?'

My backlog has ballooned because I decided to jump on Baldur's Gate 3, that one game has swallowed two months of my gaming time.

And now we have the tsunami of chonky games for Feb/March looming over us.
