Hopefully I'll get some time with Ichiban's first adventure, on chapter 8 so making good progress.
Went to the NieR concert on Wednesday just gone and it has filled my heart with yearning for 2B and friends so I may have to play some Near All Tomatos
I wrapped up Yakuza 6 and now I'm ploughing through Yakuza 7... I wish I'd taken a proper break though, I'm enjoying it but getting used to Ichiban's world view and the silliness of substories bleeding into the main story is rubbing me in the wrong direction slightly.
As someone who loved Nioh 2 but felt a bit disappointed with Wolong I cannot wait for the next combat focused Dev Diary.
What I'm hoping for from Ronin is for something with a similar high skill ceiling to Nioh but with more of a Ghost of Tsushima feel (with a with a lil Sekiro thrown in)
Wolong failed there (for me) because it ended up feeling like diluted Nioh with the parry-spam as a replacement to the deep loot+skills builds of Nioh 2.
@Voltan people did and rightfully so... This feels like the death of a franchise move. The only reason I ever bought CoD was for the super polished campaign and the well designed mp maps... Open world is the wrong direction
It'll be interesting if it is the whole catalogue coming over... What I'm actually expecting is that the traditionally multiplatform stuff will come over and games like Starfield that started as multiplatform and later became exclusive will also make the jump... but the firmly entrenched IP like Gears, Halo won't make the jump.
I'm also expecting and okay with MS titles taking a chunk of time to come over with a few exceptions - I waited a year for Rise of The Tomb Raider and it was worth it.
English it is then because I quite liked the UK based VO
This is probably down to my limited exposure to the language outside of several K-dramas that I really enjoyed on Netflix, but in games I always find Korean a bit flat, like they could mourning a loved one or reciting their shopping list.
If anyone has recommendations for something with solid Korean dubs I wouldn't mind acclimatising to the language outside of live action stuff.
My Yakuza franchise rampage continues! I started Yakuza 6 yesterday and so far I am deeply worried for Haruka, I just hope they don't give her the Yumi treatment and bring her back at the end of the game to just kill off...
@Onigumo I honestly don't think I'd call 4 bad, just my least fave of the bunch so far. I'm at the half-way point in 5 now and it is almost like the writing team had a massive upgrade in some respect... anywho, time to go be Haruka and do the Idol nonsense the poor girl has to suffer through.
@thefourfoldroot1 Just got to the finale of 4... It hasn't been terrible not by a longshot but it is definitely my least fave of the bunch so far. I'll be finishing it in the morning and then cracking on with 5.
Knowing Atlus and their history I do wonder if they'll do the same double release for ReFantazio... will we get a Re-Election edition in a year?
With P3 Reload I'm probably going to do a fast and loose playthrough on Game Pass and save the completionist run for when the FES/Golden/Royale edition comes out because it will happen - they cut too much from the old complete version not to.
I'm still on my Yakuza series playthrough kick I started last week... I started Yakuza 4 last night (I'm focusing main story so I don't get burnt out on the side story stuff) and I'm not sure how I feel about this entry so far, but I'm sticking with it. Game Pass has them all up to LAD;Y so I'm good for a few more weeks.
If I need a break I might fire up Avatar FoP for a bit OR finally jump... heh climb on to Jusant.
I'm in the middle of rampaging through the series... I started on Yakuza 4 earlier on and plan doing nothing but playing it all weekend. Not sure how I feel about four protagonists yet.
I'm chipping away at my second BG3 playthrough to get the Platinum, just need to not ***** up Karlach's romance... My Durge also needs to get drunk and kill people, which should be easy enough.
Besides that I'm going to jump into Palworld with some chums to commit war crimes against the local wildlife!
AAAAAND I had the realisation that I don't remember anything from the first three Yakuza games so whilst I have Game Pass I'm going to bomb through them focusing on the main story - I'm half way through Yakuza Kiwami
Having the radial face generator where it gives you similar faces to rapidly tune what you're looking for is going to be a great way to cut down the time needed in character gen.
Hopefully they keep these tools for Monster Hunter Wilds
Perry (born April 10, 1794, South Kingston, R.I., U.S.—died March 4, 1858, New York City) U.S. naval officer who headed an expedition that forced Japan in 1853–54 to enter into trade and diplomatic relations with the West after more than two centuries of isolation.
This should be my final weekend of BG3 tunnel vision, last night I saved just before the point of not return. I have all my ducks in a row and they are armed to the teeth and as ready as I can make them.
If I finish today then I'll be taking a break before starting a Dark Urge run by playing some Avatar FoP!
@johncalmc after what I saw in Matoya's basement the Pictomancer spell effects look spot on for the job. I'm just happy that Krile's getting her moment in the sun, poor lass deserves a bit of fun.
P4G is like distilled joy, I wish I could get my regular gaming chums into the Persona games but the required playtime is a big ask but boy do I think their lives would be 'bettered' from the addition.
That being said I am going to wait for the inevitable Golden/Royal/Extra edition of P3 Reload... I need but, but I also do not have time to play through two different versions of it - there are too many long-ass games to play currently.
@TheArt once Monster Hunter sinks its claws in you there is no escape... Good time to get hooked on World as well with the whole 'Return to World' thing, I'd jump back on myself for a fresh start but I can't afford to black out for three months again.
@Grumblevolcano even if people play their third party games on a different system, they still look at a varied exciting list of multiplatform titles and go 'Nah, it all looks like *****', and it'll be because they only play specific franchises
I'm currently suffering from Immediacy Bias, having Granblue so close has me vibrating with excitement.
Rise of The Ronin also has my attention, the lack of Team Ninja's usual alpha/beta combat tuning feels off though and maybe it means it won't be as deliciously tough.
Then there's Dragon's Dogma 2... Oh Dragon's Dogma 2 how I can't wait to throw my pawns off of cliffs again instead of waiting for the AI to figure out a way down.
@themightyant absolutely spot on with Hyper-focus on first party and the deluge of quality games from elsewhere. It's like when you read comments on 2024's upcoming games and people go 'Oh nothing on there for me' and I just end up thinking 'what is wrong with you, are you even into gaming as a hobby?'
My backlog has ballooned because I decided to jump on Baldur's Gate 3, that one game has swallowed two months of my gaming time.
And now we have the tsunami of chonky games for Feb/March looming over us.
@Sil_Am I can tell you the most likely reason... you haven't had much Korean or Chinese language media to acclimatise to so it sounds 'odd' to your ears and because you're a perfectly average human you won't go out of your comfort zone to change that.

Re: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Could Be a Brand New IP from Sony
The subtitle screams warhammer 40k to me. Not so sure about the Intergalactic bit
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 515
@BranJ0 What I loved most about 13 Sentinels is it just kept getting more and more bonkers but somehow still made total sense.

Re: Final Fantasy 7's Coolest Companions Won't Fight in PS5's Rebirth
I'm every so slightly bummed by this, but in the grand scheme of things I reckon I'll be fine with the package we're getting.
Re: Skull and Bones Open Beta Will Let You Test the Waters This Weekend on PS5
I'll be jumping in to see if they've managed to make it not dull... the last beta i was in was boring.
I'm hoping for success but if I'm being really realistic... expect another delay being announced on the 13th

Yeah, that's (almost certainly, like 99.9%) a lie.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Persona 3 Reload?

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Granblue Fantasy: Relink?
Not yet but I will be soon!
Re: Silent Hill: The Short Message Available to Download Now on PS5

Re: Rise of the Ronin PS5 Gets Gameplay Deep Dive at Sony's State of Play
Looks like a grand ol time!
Now I just need to decide if I'm playing this or DD2 first!?
Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Reload Lines Up The Answer as DLC
Oh I can see ATLUS doing this and then doing a whole other game with the FeMC... because it just gives them more versions to be sold
Base game
Base game + The Answer DLC
FeMC base game
FeMC base game + The Answer 1.5 DLC
Persona 3 Re-assembled Ultra Deluxe
Gods, I hope I'm wrong.
Re: Snake Plissken Actor Explains Why He Never Played Iroquois Plisken in Metal Gear Solid
There is no Solid Snake without Hayter. Russell is one of my fave actors but, like Keither in mgsv, he would've been too distracting as Snake.
Re: Square Enix to Absorb Subsidiary Tokyo RPG Factory and All Its Assets
I enjoyed all three of their games but they never came close to fulfilling their mission statement.
Hopefully the team finds success elsewhere in SE
Re: Hands On: Suicide Squad Takes a Lot of Getting Used to, and It May Not Be Worth It
The sentiment I've been seeing pop up is that it is soulless except for the cutscene... Which matches expectations.
I just hope that if it does flop WB reverse their stance turning everything into a live service ***** show.

Feels like Khayl might not have played the Respawn Jedi games and is just assuming they tell their stories like a normal souls like.
I would love an actual Remedy Jedi game, that would be one hell of a trip!
Re: State of Play Announced, Covering More Than 15 PS5, PSVR2 Games
All I really needed out of this was a proper look at Rise of The Ronin, everything else is just a bonus.
There was a weird 'leak' that points towards maybe a new JUDAS trailer and other stuff... so fingers crossed
Re: Rumour: Dragon's Dogma 2 Runs at 30fps on PS5
If it's a locked 30 then it's fine, consistent frame rate is all that really matters. I do look forward to the digital foundry lads coverage.

Re: Push Square Readers' 20 Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2024
@BIG3 I reckon that's because we have no inkling of when in 2024 it'll appear. All the games on the list have firm release dates/windows.

Aaaaaand I got talked into Warframe!
