@Kanji-Tatsumi I'm hoping we get a rough idea of when Veilguard is coming out so I can plan a full series replay with Dragon Age. The Inquisition DLC was a step up in toughness from what I remember but it was very satisfying.
Finishing the Final Shape campaign and seeing what the seasonal stuff is like. More Honkai even though I'm all caught up I'm now trying to get my teams in tip-top condition...
I still feel like I'm in a holding pattern with the wait for Shadow of The Erdtree AND Dawntrail!
I'm still expecting queues, because at this point it feels like tradition to be sat in queue on coms with my people having a light-hearted whinge and comparing snack drawers.
I was thinking that maybe they'd do a story between the two games to give Bela a chance to grow into older Ellie... You know cover the estrangement between Joel and Ellie, show Abby finding her dad and vowing vengeance... but then I realised Bella is 20 and she's done growing!
When you have just shy of quarter of a million people trying to access something all at once it is bound to cause issues and it isn't as simple as putting more servers up.
My heart goes out to Bungie and any team that's trying to make infrastructure that works for passing users through log-in servers when you don't have an unlimited budget.
I am the King of Managed Expectations so I do really look forward to these things because the most I expect is updates on stuff, the bigger stuff I'm hoping for is gameplay reveals for games we've only seen in CG trailer form before and even then I don't expect much... There are soooooo many cool looking CG trailers with no actual gameplay, so there is plenty that could show up.
Earlier this year I marathoned the entire Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise up to LAD Yakuza so with all that fresh in my brain i can safely say I am EXCITED! I have yet to get to Man Who Erased His Name, Isshin and Infinite Wealth but they are on the docket for After Dawntrail and Shadow of The Erdtree.
The Series S is probably the biggest reason we haven't left the old gen apart from the size of the install base on the old gen. Bu the S neutered this Gen's ability to make forward progress technologically
I'm finishing up my Honkai catch up and playing the Diablo 4 lootmageddon season. I also finished up my Destiny 2 prep for The Final Shape.
I've felt like I've been in a holding pattern for a while, waiting on The Erdtree's Shadow and Dawntrail and not really wanting to commit to anything too major.
It was okay... To me it felt very slap dash, like it had been put together last minute. I'm of the opinion that a drastic change is needed to counter the longer dev cycles 1-2 games per generation doesn't cut it for a studio, it would be a risk for Sony but they need a staggered multi team approach in the big studios aiming for several projects on the go to hit one game every other year.
This looks absolutely delightful, will be keeping an eye on this one. I love this type of art style, add to that some chill exploration and i am a happy camper.
I just wish they'd reverse the moronic decision to 'vault' so much of the story, I still really like Destiny as a whole but all that lost content leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
I'll be there to finish the fight, and I'll hope that future of the franchise is less messy.
I wonder what she'll do next... probably the same bud mod character stats to be just 1's across the board? Beat the game as a gnome called Steve with his trust wooden spoon.
I do love how Sean being a cheeky little gobshite gives me the warm fuzzies! Cannot wait to see more of Light no Fire, hopefully they go early access soon after.
I'm all for Kojima exploring the weirder side of Max's world. The reverence he has for the series would probably lead some super distilled take on Max as a fable.
I played an alpha ages ago and it was a fairly solid effort gameplay-wise. Nothing revolutionary but I had fun and it made me look forward to the actual release
@wiiware sorry to be the harbinger of bad news - but it is very much a live service game.
I'm hoping we get a demo of this before release, I want to see how snappy and responsive the combat is for myself. This has always looked a bit too good to be real... I'm tending towards cautious optimism with this one.
A quick update - Finished Honkai Star Rail's Penacony story... They got me again with the needle drop! Now it is time to clean up about 9 months worth of companion missions and rummaging through trash cans.
@homelesscretin I think what really killed its chance to shine was when they ported it to PC and ported it BADLY... The PC version was atrocious.
Which makes me happy I got it day one on PS3 where it worked as intended. I'm going to look into ways to make the PC port run because I really fancy another go through it.
Honkai Star Rail continues to be my focus as I catch up with everything added in Penacony. I'm also at the stage where my main teams are at max level and need to farm out their final gear loadouts... Shocking that Seele is still a nuke.
This actually raises the possibility that I'll give a CoD game a chance on release instead of waiting until they cost less than a pint of Guinness (in Yorkshire, not Ireland)
Whilst having all games coming to both consoles is fantastic - I would love to see PS Studios bringing their games to Xbox - it does make you wonder if the current state will erode XB as a brand and a box worth buying, as terrible for the consumer as exclusives are they are the main reason we buy one box over another... Will Xbox go the way of Sega; a once titanic hardware purveyor now a MUHASSIVE software peddler?
I'm on a push at the moment to get caught up with Honkers and Genshin, iim left wondering if one more of these thrown into the rotation would lead to an unbroken loop of clearing content in one before another updates...
@Fartingale give me sexy librarian over a dominatrix any day! (he says as his future wife looms over him as she gets ready for her half-day working at the local library)
I wrapped up Star Wars Jedi Survivor and with it the last of my Big Game Backlog and as a treat I've jumped back on Honkai Star Rail to catch up, depending on how long that takes I'll probably then jump into Genshin to do the same... Both will probably keep me going until Dawn Trail launches.
This could be the true beginning of the end for Game Pass - They put the new CoD on there and watch as billions vanish as barely anyone new joins Game Pass but a massive chunk of CoD's old revenue disappears because a large chunk of the playerbase already has Game Pass ~OR~ They don't put in Game Pass and only a fraction of players buy it because they fully and rightfully expect it to hit Game Pass because of Microsoft's past promises.
Whichever way this all shakes out I am expecting it to be an unmitigated disaster for Microsoft.
I'd be down for a Tomb Raider riffing off of Elden Rings world design - Biiiiig open area, tiny bite size tomblets with small scale puzzles, bigger more complex catacombs that contain bigger interconnected puzzles and narrative chunks and then massive Temple complexes loaded with story, puzzles, set pieces, bosses. Put in some honest to goodness towns/villages that are vibrant with life that give Lara a place to relax and gather rumours/legends/folk stories.
Heck they could do the map population schtick by having Lara find old base camps for an explorer who came before her and use their notes to put points of interest on Lara's own map.
This weekend is all about finishing AC Mirage, playing through a smaller scope Assassin's Creed has been neat! If I get it finished I'll be moving onto another backlog game - Jedi Survivor, which I'm really looking forward to!
[UPDATE - I have rolled credits on Mirage, thoroughly enjoyed it, not going to both with the Plat though, so now I'm installing/updating Jedi Survivor!]
Not playing it yet, got a couple of games locked and loaded from the backlog, but I'll be all over it once I have those cleared off the list (AC Mirage and Jedi Survivor if anyone's curious)
@Nepp67 @TheFakulty yup... they don't even need to keep the whole season, just the story missions... The vaulting of paid content will always be one of the weirdest moves Bungie have made... especially the base campaign of D2

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Summer Game Fest 2024?
It wasn't a bad show providing you had the sense to manage your expectations.
I think my only disappointment was no Sean Murray and Light No Fire.

Re: Mad Max Dev Fires Back Following Furioso Director George Miller's Kojima Comments
The thing I find jarring after watching Furiosa is that it highlights just how spot on the game was, it nailed the atmosphere around Gastown.
Furiosa was fantastic, get yourselves to the cinema to see it.
