Final Fantasy XI is currently free to play so I'll be trying to get through the Voracious Resurgence content, the final story feels like it's going to be a grand tour of vana'diel and I'm okay with that.
@McBurn How would you monetise the game to fund its perpetual growth? $100 would buy you a lot of game, but it wouldn't fund the kind of expansions that games like Genshin get.
Maybe keep the expansions free but charge for the new characters - Include the base character and some materials, but also add into the game content to unlock the full potential of the character, have the upgrades attached to level milestone or character story progress.
I can't help but think games media have been acting like vultures with this. Report that it happened, keep it vague and let the story die while Insomniac recover and the authorities do what they can to track the culprits down.
It releasing same time as DD2 makes it tough, but Nioh 2 is probably my fave action rpg of all time... I do wish this had had the usual Team Ninja alpha and beta demos to lock in the combat.
Who am i kidding, I'll be there day one gunning hard for the Platinum.
Yesterday I started and finished the Singularity expedition in No Man's Sky and today I'll be back on with Baldur's Gate 3, act 3 is slowly coming to a close I think, wrapping up a bunch of quests and hit lvl 12... Doubt I'll be finished before crimbo though.
@DennisReynolds same, I'm gunning for the Plat and then a slow and steady Honour run is on the books... God, having to live with all those Nat 1's is going to hurt so good.
Still on with Act 3 of BG3, haven't had much time during the week to make progress.
I'm also on No Man's Sky for the Expedition re-run, I missed a few of them and it'd be nice to have all the trinkets and decorations for my main game file. (man I cannot wait for Light No Fire)
My first plan of action will be to build a marker and start heading east, imma circumnavigate this planet! Might even make useful structures along the way; crafting stations, supply caches, message buoys...
Kinda wish my Teef-ling had soft body boobs, it was a bit odd the way they just thrust skywards when she was on her back during her last romp... Saying that gravity does work strangely inside the Astral Prism...
This patch cannot arrive soon enough, I've been having withdrawal from the game since having to put it on hold. I do hope that the fix actually works, I just want to go see if all the Teiflings are still kicking for that trophy!
If I do get that trophy then my next playthrough will be as an S tier **** Dark Urge!
Hyenas, like pretty much any competitive FPS, was doomed to failure... and I'm not sure if Creative Assembly can be blamed for it, it smacked of an owner mandated idea to begin with.
I'm glad they're getting to continue with what they're good at, but man would I love to see them do something like Alien Isolation again because that game was pitch perfect.
My personal hope for this partnership is Guildwars 2 coming to console and getting gamepad support on PC.
If we do get a Horizon MMO it'd be great if it was set elsewhere on the planet with entirely new characters, tribes and Machines. I want it to be easily separable from the main games.
@CWill97 he moves and plays more like a Dark Souls/Bloodborne boss (He has the same animation rig as the Cleric Beast), which up until that point you had spent the whole game unlearning normal souls stuff.
My fave fight in the whole of Sekiro remains the second Owl fight, it was just so satisfying.
@GuttyYZ It got much much worse since I posted my original post... Rivington and the Lower City are actually unplayable, looking at the forums it seems a common issue and weirdly Larian are being very quiet instead of their usual transparent selves. I'll probably have to put it aside for now and play something else.
I am still trundling merrily through Baldur's Gate 3, reached act 3 after 105hrs and still loving it even if the crashes and cutscene hangs have been piling up. I wish the whole thing was as polished as act 1 and can't help wondering if it needed and 6 months if testing and polish... All that being said I do look forward to some Dark Urge fun times in playthrough 2!
A bit like Dark Souls was a multiplatform extension of the PS Exclusive Demon's Souls I'm hoping they're working on a Gothic/Eldritch Horror game to supplant Metal Ge.... Bloodborne.
But... but... What I really want is a game where the world isn't already ruined and in decay, maybe it ends that way but at least at the start I'd like to enter a village and be greeting with a 'Inn's down that way, Adventurer!' before the Estus hits the Poison Swamp!
Playing this type of game with not only a named, but also voiced, MC is refreshing.
I was hoping it'd work with the Google Play PC client because the font's a wee bit too small for my wonky eyes to handle but alas it is not so.... yet.
I finally, fully finished Cyberpunk, still a little wobbly in places but that 2.0 update turned from a borked mess to something actually worth playing. (Phantom Liberty was a lovely -tragic- cherry on top)
But now I have turned my gaze back to Monster Hunter Rise, I bought Sunbreak to play with a couple friends who bailed and I'm bored of waiting for them so I'm just going in solo (being able to bring Followers along now is brilliant)
My birthday at the start of November and there i shall finally get Baldur's Gate 3!
I'm just too busy with other loooonnnnnng games at the moment so it'll be put on the 'buy in a sale' pile. If I hadn't been elbow deep in other stuff it would've been a day oner though.
It's rare I miss an AC game on day one and if I wasn't already elbow deep in Cyberpunk and some real world capital S Stuff I'd already be parkouring around as Basim... Buuuut I'm too busy finally, actually enjoying Cyberpunk!
I'll probably pick up this shorter AC as a palate cleanser before I finally jump into BG3 knowing full well that game will last me upto FFVII Rebirth (and probably beyond)
@Nightcrawler71 yeah Cyberpunk finally sunk its Mantis Blades in me with the update and expansion and I still have Baldur's Gate 3... I think I'm good until next year even though there are loads of good looking titles coming out... I'll stick a few on my crimbo wishlist but otherwise I'll be picking up a lot during the early '24 sales.
I'm up to date and I am ready to feed Zero some more delicious food! I'm willing to bet that Ryne and Gaia adopt her and give her some Coffee Biscuits!
@Kienda it is massive, buuuuuuuut you could slowly play through the free trial which covers a massive chunk of content and doesn't have much in the way of restrictions. One of the biggest bits of advice I can give someone is to play it at your own pace, don't feel like you have to rush through anything or that you have to do everything.
@Duck_Farmer I need to pick up the expansion for Xenoblade Chronicles 3! Get ready to have the boss battle themes from that game randomly popping into your head and ramping your heart rate to the max at the most inappropriate times
Finished Starfield through NG++ and now it is time to put that down for a bit, 100% the best 7/10 game this year, possibly in many years. It is everything I wanted and expected out of a Bethesda space RPG without a single surprising thing.
I managed to get Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 running fairly well on my PC, I couldn't quite get a locked 60 so I've opted for a visually stunning 4k30 (locked 30 will always be preferable to jittery 60, always) so I started a fresh run and may continue that for this lazy Sunday
I've got some stressful real life ***** coming up over the next week so I'm not exactly in the right frame of mind to start something completely new, but once I have this irl stuff behind me I'm grabbing BG3 to celebrate surviving tedious bureaucracy.
The upped recommended specs made my poor PC suffer, so now i get to spend a while tweaking settings until I can get it to run nicely again... or wait for a complete edition sale on PS5 so I can pick up Phantom Liberty as well.
@Flaming_Kaiser with Genshin specifically I kinda stopped caring about the dailies - I do them when I know I'm going to be on it for a while but otherwise I concentrate on the actual quests, but yeah if you feel the need to do them they gobble up empty hours if you try to keep up with more than one game.
@homelesscretin obviously can't answer for everyone who plays stuff like Genshin, but I treat it like a gap filler game in-between big releases or as a palette cleanser. For example I just finished Starfield, sunk 150hrs into it and next up on deck is Baldur's Gate 3... but before I dive into another massive game I'm going to spend a week with Genshin doing the MSQ that I've fallen behind on, I probably won't get anywhere near the end of the current update but I'll knock out a satisfying chunk and move on.
FFXIV on the other hand is my 'forever game', although at the moment I log on in the evening for an hour to get dailies done and more importantly talk to my best mate and a few others on Discord. But around major updates it takes up more time and expansions get the no-life treatment from both of us.
I get how some people see these games as becoming more of a commitment than something fun to play but for me it's either purely for fun as well as a way to keep in touch with friends who aren't easy to see often irl.
My advice for jumping into something like Genshin is do it in chunks and don't worry about the idea of fully catching up. The game's main quest is broken up into very clear quest-lines so it'll be obvious what's a good stopping point when you want to crack on with something else.
I'm going to echo @Odium here, still very excited, but a bit gutted they're not going with proper continuity. I just hope they have a good reason in the game why our guys are suddenly level 1 again and have lost all their hard won stuff.
Loved it, new Vanillaware game and an expansion for Tales of Arise! I would've been more than sated with just those two so the FF7 Rebirth trailer with a release date was a MUHASSIVE cherry on top.
Not everything in a showcase has to be for me, but this gave me enough.
edit - wait, was the Vanillaware game in this or the Ninty Direct? Either way there's more games for meeeeee on everything!]
Starfield on't PC! Although not playing as much as I'd like as my room is trying to reach the temperature of the sun and where I live is getting no outside air movement so open windows do nothing... send help, I am melting.
