Re: Square Enix Devs Pester Director Yoshinori Kitase About Remaking Final Fantasy 6 Constantly

Papa_Godzilla

@Nem yeah, FF6 is a very tricky one to remake for mostly all that you mentionned.
plus, going from pixel sprites to 3D rarely looks good. i mean, Amano's particular artstyle is pretty hard to nail in 3D.
And there is so much to do with dialogues that it needs basically a whole new script. SNES rpgs were limited in font characters, which often made dialogues short and simple.
And voices, man... it took me some time to agree with FF7 choice of voice actors, it kind of break the illusion like you said.

i think final 6 and chrono trigger are the 2 trickiest rpg to remake. even more than ff7 was.
what kind of approach would give them justice. i really hope they dont give them to the studio that made seiken densetsu 3 remake, that game was rubbish.
The main problem is the transition between pixel art and 3D, that rarely give good results.
FF6 deserves and outstanding remake.

Re: Square Enix's Charismatic CEO Proudly Proclaims He Used to No-Life Final Fantasy Games Growing Up

Papa_Godzilla

ive been a final fantasy hardcore fan all my youth. chrono trigger and many other rpgs gave me tons of fond memories. So much that i make games for living and it works out pretty well for me.
So yeah he is right, you can play games a ton and still achieve some life goals.
At some point you gotta study and work hard, but you can still keep that gaming side active cause its great for sanity.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Diablo 4?

Papa_Godzilla

@Pat_trick i played them all. the 4 kind of remind me a mix of the second diablo and one those baldur gate dark alliance and champions of norrath games.
if youre not sure, you could always wait for a deal.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Was Planned for PS5 and PS4, But the Last-Gen Version Would Have Taken Too Long

Papa_Godzilla

@Feena yeah well, of course it had no game breaking bug. the main problem is how the game experience is different and much more polished after 6 months or a year.
i mean, they added a flying vehicle midway, all characters are now playable, some ease of life arrangements, even some story fixes regarding a confusing chapter that leads to the ending.
Also, the DLCs were mostly all released and i personally felt they should have been part of the main game. What they added story/character wise was too important to be left out.
but man, i cant wait to try FF16. just not at launch

Re: PS5's Remote Play Portable Will Allegedly Launch in November

Papa_Godzilla

interesting, could be useful. but man that design looks stupid.
My main issue would be the joysticks. i got 3 ps5 controllers, all of them ended up with drifting within the first year. Everyone i know has drifting issues with their ps5 controllers.
So, is that projectQ thing going to drift in a year ? probably.
Those controllers arent cheap to replace or fix, and that tablet feels like its gonna end up being costly too.

Re: Best Final Fantasy Games

Papa_Godzilla

All in for VI at the top.
im always wondering which of 6 and 7 i prefer.
7 was a revolution in many aspects, but man final 6. The story and its characters... THE MUSIC.
The main problem i got with recent final fantasies/JRPG is the voice acting during combat. All those screams... man do they like screaming. imagine that in a UFC or a boxing match. Each strike coming with a super loud EEYYAAAHH

Re: Gigantic Saints Row Patch Notes Posted Ahead of Next Week's Major Update

Papa_Godzilla

is this game more stable than the third remaster ? it kept crashing on me. the kind of crash you have to learn why it does and try to avoid the problem. Then sometimes you just cant and you need to restart an entire mission. Then you just delete the game.
at least it was free on psplus, but that didnt make me want to put in cash for the other saint row game.

Re: Poll: Rate the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters

Papa_Godzilla

One interesting thing about FFVI is the way the espers give bonus stats points. it encourages the veterans to try to go underleveled until very late in-game for Raiden's godlike speed stat bonus.
I would not do this on a first experience, but it is very satisfying to try.
