If they want to win back some goodwill, they would be smart to release this free witcher 3 upgrade, sooner, rather than later.

About 74% of poll takers, didn't buy the game at launch. Does this bode well for the gaming industry? If everybody buys at a later date or "on sale", does that hinder game development on new ips or beloved ones? If the only game's that are preordered, are the "popular" games(cod, madden, fortnite, etc) would that make devs start to emulate those games, hence stifling innovation? Or maybe it's just yakuza fatigue.

I understand the frustration and the hate, but let us be honest, if you made/maintained something, that generated millions of dollars a month, why would you veer away from that? Yeah, it hinders creativity and innovation, but this is a business, first and foremost. Capitalism at its finest.

Now, with that out of the way, fcuk this shyte. But we're sort of to blame. Who is excited for the dead space remake? What about the gta hd trilogy? Kotor remaster? How about the alan wake remaster? Who would love a mgs remake/master? See what I mean, we kind of brought it upon ourselves. We pick and chose our outrage. "Hypocrisy, thy name is.."

How would a wolverine game play out? First person or third person hack-n-slash? Open world? Linear? Gotta have dismemberment, right? Destructible environment? It's wolverine and claws! Traversal? Claws allow him to climb anything. Healing factor, check. An obvious witcher-like mode where he uses his senses. Multiple skins? Hopefully not with differing stats, ie blue and yellow, differ from the brown suit, etc.

PS5 PRO, with 8k gaming at 120fps, skipping the PSVR2 with the new PSNeuraLink

Huh, interesting. Judging by the comments, it looks as if people would rather have a sequel to existing IPs, than new ones. I'm in the same boat, but wouldn't mind some new games(excited for sifu, hope it's good), but that's reaching.

So...what all goes into game development? Hardware and software, the staff. Ideas, talent, voice overs (if applicable), etc. Licensing engines, coding and testing, ad infinitum. Just trying to see where the money goes and if techniques have changed dramatically enough. I mean developing madden can't be increasing tenfold, year over year, right?

Many, like me, probably have a huge backlog and can wait for these single player games to drop in price or for the "goty/director's cut" edition to come out, with all dlc, etc.
But for the early adopters, this sucks, on many levels. I get the "no free" upgrade, wasn't gonna last forever; don't understand the minimal difference in ps4/5 versions; at a loss with the pricier editions not having a disc.

My xbox had a similar situation. I had to make my series s the "home" console and the backwards compatible games I had to start up, online once, so it could "connect to verify". After that no problems online or off. Is there a similar situation on the ps4/5?

I think they are just waiting for the fervor to die down. After saying gt, hfw and gow were all coming to the ps4(totally understandable, from a financial pov) the vocal minority got really loud. That's all.

@Enigk tetris effect released on the ps4, first. After some time passed, it released on the xb systems with the "connected" expansion. Now it's released across ps and switch.

Is "director's cut" gonna be the new GOTY edition? Or are we still gonna have those, as well?

Like so many have alluded to, pair ps+ with psnow, with a slight increase. Short of that, make ps+ free. I mean what does ps+ give you now? Discounts, the occasional free game. Online play isn't locked behind ps+, is it?
