Is you're an argument that you shove the next gen update out in the middle of horizon and elden ring so if its still horribly broken, that gets less media coverage?? I bought a second hand copy for super cheap, I'll maybe try it out may/June time after I finish with elden ring and HFW.
@Quintumply great review! I enjoyed the first game, the machine combat was phenomenonal but the human combat was a little lacking. How did you find it in the sequel? Have they improved the human ai to match that on offer from the machines?
I've got to what I think is the final boss in deaths door. Really charming game style but the game doesn't mind wrecking you!! Some hitman 2 (leaving a mission on a bus with a illuminati-esque robe on is as funny as it sounds) and hopefully some more shadow of the colossus. Happy weekend folks
It's a crazy busy month already but it is a game that I do like the look of, though the readability of some attacks issue worries me. When I die, I want to feel like I messed up rather than I guessed wrong.
Some forgotten City, thank goodness for the pleasant English lad who does your side quests and going through the last couple of levels in deaths door. There might also be a wee rugby match on today, mon the Scotland!!
One of favourite gaming serious of all time, big American city, maybe set late 90s so you don't have to struggle with how you satire our crazy world but can poke fun at the present by passing of events in our time as mental predictions that could never happen, multiple protagonists, a story that maybe has some branching points a la gta4 and hopefully some more gameplay choices about how to approach situations.
Still sells out mins within their being availability and given there is backwards compatibility, easily a stronger software line up than same time in ps4 life cycle.
It's all a drive for content. To be fair, in the TV streaming service space similar competition has led to some fantastic shows getting commissioned in the race for content. It also lead to some true garbage getting Green lit. Whatever the future holds, I hope there are great games funded and produced.
Oooft some of the management tier at bungie will be getting a big payday and chances are, will be walking away from bungie in 12 - 18 months when the terms of the acquisition deal expire and they can cash in their shares. In a weird way, hopefully some of these acquisitions fund new indie and development studios of the future, as the studio leads who are getting paid out decide to start again with the windfall.
I've been playing san andreas on definitive edition. The original was such an amazing game, that game is still in there and I have only had one bug so far, which is not really a big deal. I still can't help but feel that rockstar did this classic real dirty. Having said that, I just can't help but dig the nostalgia waves it's triggering for me. Have a great weekend folks
Yep, I don't get it and have been confused by the avengers on now being ps4 only and gatekeeping upgrades for plus games, like for ff7R. These decisions are going to stack up to a narrative that you get nickel and dimed if you game on a sony platform. I genuinely question some of the strategic thinking on these business decisions.
Surely there will just be some of those moments where you pick head, heart or fist (ooh matron) to change your dialogue choice, but ultimately little changes, like the first game. They handled that stuff pretty well before and can't wait to try this out. My only gripe last time was human enemy ai felt like it was straight from an early AC game. Monster combat and AI however was sublime!! It might have to wait till March or April though as ive got a date to "go die in a ditch" in the lands imbetween in Feb.
@render I only played ME1 for the first time a couple of years ago and the last few missions might be some of my favourite gaming moments ever. Enjoy!!
I'm playing some more Kena, which has surprised me with not just some of the best visuals I've ever seen but some decent boss battles also. On act 3 of inscryption and as much as I've enjoyed the game, I'm fed up of card battles now. Finally, downloading windjammer 2 and hoping to get my ass handed to me online later! Happy gaming everyone
From what's been reported, Activision were looking for a buyer, they wanted to sell. Some of these other companies don't have the legal/leadership issues that Activision had and now everyone knows microsoft are spending, the price will go up for every company! Its like the football transfer market inflation after Man U bought Pogba 😂
I bought the tony hawk remaster second hand, screw giving Kotick money! Other than that, I played the COD ww2 campaign when they gave it away on plus and that's it. Have to say that a huge, perhaps unseen component of this deal is the popularity of COD mobile in Asia and an xcloud version that performs better may be something that helps funnel new gamers into gamepass subscriptions (or just mtx purchases). It doesn't affect me and even as a gamepass gamer, I'm not enthusiastic as someone who's not into COD. Hope they sort the culture at both Activision and blizzard out alongside reinstating vicarious visions.
Played some more ratchet and clank this morning before work, left it at what I think will be the last clank puzzle. The game is lots of fun but gets very repetitive, I've had a break half way through and enjoying it again. Hopefully get the chance to wrap the game up tonight.
I don't think the strategy of gatekeeping first party releases access onto any subscription service behind purely time will work. Most of the sony big hitters I enjoy are single player, 10-40 hr experiences like last of us 2, uncharted 4, God of war, hzd, GoT, Spiderman etc. Am I going to pay £70, a price point I have an issue with given its a £20 rise from previous gen, when I am paying £90 a year for a combined plus/now tier and can wait 12 months to play the single player game, when it will be in a better state than at launch and will have a resurgence in discourse anyway because it hits a sony subscription service? Even if I'm not subscribed, the retail price will drop dramatically at that stage otherwise you could just subscribe for a month and cancel. I actually don't know what's best for both sony and consumers. I've had a playstation 1 through 5 and just hope that they can navigate the next few years with the model of making the types of games they do, as they are the type of games I enjoy the most.
Take it away and burn it with fire, no wait, that's what we are doing to the carbon required to produce the electricity for all the processing required. Any nft art, any play to earn concept in a game, go do one.
Mechanically, it's decent but the platforming could be tighter. The level design, the art style and its characters and the way they work together are first rate. It's probably my favourite game of the year
I love the game! Shout out for accessibility options too in hades, God mode is a great addition that can be switched on and off at will and scales with your failures such that you can still enjoy the core game whilst still being challenged. The endless ways to make things more difficult for increased rewards for those who want further challenged, the save option from the get with the option to see how long its been since the last save (love this feature in a game with autosaves), the multitude of build options, the narrative distribution between success and failure, the vo work and the soundtrack that absolutely slaps, its a beast of a game!! Hard to believe it came from a small dev team, who managed to not only be talented enough to make the product but smart enough to not only cash in on epic exclusivity but use it to polish the game ahead of 1.0 release on other systems to make it better.
From this list I've only played hades but it's a hell of a game! Hard to argue with it being top of the list. So many games I want to play on this list though! Disco elysium, deaths door and chicory all look great. Like others have said, the one that's missing is kena, very hopeful there's a physical version heading my way in a couple of days!!
This is why it made sense in the first place. Locking upgrade paths behind whether the game was bought or from plus (a subscription service that people get in part to receive games) was always an anti consumer move. Hope they get rewarded by them selling more dlc and other publishers take note
I know this game has got a lot of stick but this looked like some black Friday 2022 dumb fun to me! I'll not be there at launch but I'm quietly optimistic.
I can't wait for someone to release an in game nft that's broken and realise they have to issue an entire new code, as its on the block chain and unique, it can't be patched. I thought WoW had an in game market years ago that didn't require block chain for transfer of license? This feels like a horse armour dlc moment, where ubisoft take the initial hit from gaming communities about this but in 2-3 years time, it will be common to have content in games like fifa etc locked behind this bs. It's a sad day
No upgrade path for plus owners is pretty poor. Is there any reason that sony is treating versions of games given away with plus as lesser copies? Happened with ff7, greedfall, mortal shelll now this.
It could be interesting, I've found gamepass ultimate transformative as I play more games day 1 than ever before. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for sony games to hit the service. I thought with Sony moving to 70 quid pricing, there was an attempt to move to a more nintendo like pricing model and get your big games to retain a higher price point longer. If you put them on a subscription service after 18 months , your games will devalue in price pretty quick. All I know is competition is good for consumers and despite some of the gaas bs flying round, there's probably never been a better time to be into video games!
I played a little on the series x at launch. The visuals are stunning, like unbelievable for this studios first game! The gameplay has a weird isometric meets twin stick meets cover shooter style that I bounced off pretty quickly but others may really enjoy. The initial story premise for the game is excellent but I found traversing areas to be pretty annoying (there are two modes of fast travel but neither are well signposted, might be my fault for not picking up the systems quickly enough) and that I got fed up of the dialogue pretty quickly. You can do all the campaign in coop and I suspect a playthrough with a friend is where this game will shine.
They are not my thing at all. sometimes when I've finished a game I have a look and see if there would be any that would be fun to do (like pickpocket add a grenade into someone's pocket in fallout 4) and do it for funsies. I know lots of folks like them and that's cool. However, I think they can be pretty insidious mechanisms to track your playstyles and incentivise additional time spent in a game beyond when you normally would.
I've played some control today and have been really enjoying it! Performance mode on ps5 looks great and haptics are subtle but nice. Played some of the halo infinite multiplayer yesterday. Online shooters are not normally my jam but it's a hell of a lot of fun!! The grappling hook in that game is tight. Finally got back into Luigis mansion 3 on switch. I still find the movement is off in that game but really enjoying the puzzles and variety of environments. Controversial but may be the best looking switch game ive played. Have a good weekend folks!
@Falkirk4life that's what I mean though, it's a bad look to palm this off to a third rate port studio and have no oversight to how this looks. They take such care over their games and have a mad back catalogue but on this evidence, would you trust them to handle a warriors or bully remaster?? It's even worse they messed up the mod scene to try and push people to these definitive editions. They are one of the biggest studios in the business whose games have shaped the industry, those games deserve better

As long as gaas offerings are in adjunct to the style of single player games sony make and don't replace/diminish these, go for it.

So weird that rockstar when they make games are so particular about the experience you get, yet they have missed a trick about their legacy here
