@Ashina Yeah it feels like a lot of the 'filler' has been cut out of Gundam Breaker 4. Not that Gundam Breaker 3 had much filler to begin with, but 4 is definitely streamlined. It wants you going through mission after mission after misson.
@riceNpea The actual story stuff will take you maybe... 20ish hours? Or thereabouts. Beyond that, you can play every single mission on a harder difficulty (with better rewards) so the endgame is really just to grind like crazy and make high level suits.
It's one of those games where there's no out-and-out end goal once you're done with the campaign. It'll all depend on how deeply you buy into the grind.
@AdamantiumPriest The story is a continuation of what happens in the first game, but you'd be fine just looking up the cutscenes or a playthrough on YouTube.
@TruestoryYep There's speculation that Itsuno's called it quits because Capcom wouldn't give him the necessary support for DD2 — but it's pretty baseless stuff, mostly tied to previous comments about the development of the first DD.
I think after 30 years it's not out of the question to imagine someone like Itsuno just wanting to try something new.
@EfYI Exactly, there are so many factors that all need to be balanced out, otherwise the industry's going to give out from under itself. All the things you've mentioned are becoming big, genuine problems — and we'll get to a point where both companies and consumers will have to decide on where to draw the line.
I think a major factor in all of this is the growing perception that games simply aren't finished when they launch.
We're hurtling towards a market where there's literally no good reason to buy games on release, other than being able to experience them right away. Launch versions are more expensive and they're objectively worse games.
Something's going to give if prices continue to increase.
@Th3solution The thing is with CDPR, they need to keep their investors happy so they publicly release all this info. Sony obviously has investors as well, but it relies on so many other operations to make money.
But I agree with what you're saying, it'd be nice to have this kind of insight into every company!
@KillerBoy Compared to the demo? Nah, not really. I think the slight weightiness to the movement is by design — like it's supposed to be more deliberate. If it put you off in the demo I don't think the full game will change your mind sadly.
Sadly I have bad memories of Graces f. Finished the full thing on PS3 but found it to be an absolute slog at times because of the characters. Thought they were terrible.
But I'm willing to give it another chance if the remaster's good!
@FatalBubbles Yeah, although the demo kind of drops you right into things, it's still a good representation of the game's overall structure. If you take that demo and make it into a full adventure across a bunch of different environments, that's quite accurate.
@rjejr There are times where it's just text, but most of the game is voiced, including all of the important cutscenes.
I couldn't give you a full impression of the accents because I played the majority of the game in Japanese. But from what I've seen and heard, the English dub seems pretty solid. One of your party members has a heavy southern US accent, which is certainly a choice — but it is quite funny.
@charbtronic Pretty much, yeah. Although part of me likes Trials of Mana more because it doesn't feel as bloated (less pointless dialogue, environments are more linear).
@Kanji-Tatsumi It is quite a bit shorter than most. Last time I looked at my save file I was at 29 hours, so I think a (normal difficulty) playthrough should take most people around 35 hours or thereabouts. Maybe closer to 40 if you want to beat all of the optional combat challenges.
Never really put two and two together but Sammy has a point — this might be (at least partly) why Metaphor seems to have such narrow reach despite being the next big budget game from the people who make Persona. It definitely feels like it should be catching on more than it is.
@Hyena_socks It'll take most people between 30-40 hours, I'd say, mostly depending on how difficult you find it. It's a nice length, though, not too long and not too short — feels quite well paced.
@Jaz007 There are normal enemies scattered around, but not too many. You could maybe class some of them as 'mid-bosses' — tougher than your usual enemies but not full bosses — but many of these don't respawn, so it's not like you can grind them for levels and skill points.
@WizzNL @DennisReynolds @ironcrow86 It's technically not a Soulslike but it still has a lot of Soulslike elements, particularly in terms of structure, like the review says.
It's basically a more linear, more action-packed Soulslike, with combat that leans into God of War (2018) territory.
@rjejr Yeah, it's entirely possible. It'll be an older build of Wilds that was specifically sanctioned to be publicly playable, so it's unrealistic to think that it's indicative of the final product.
We just have to hope Capcom will be running through a lot of optimisations over the coming months. Ultimately, I'd be surprised if there isn't a performance mode at launch. Whether it'll be a steady 60fps is another question!
@Coffeeglitch Totally get your points (and I agree), but I don't it's necessarily the developers — as in, the people actually working on the game — that are the problem.
At the end of the day, developers are told to prioritise visuals because visuals help sell games to wider audiences (especially big budget ones).
More hardcore players like us know how important higher frame rates can be, but your average buyer's the kind of person who'll complain that a game looks "bad" when it prioritises stuff that isn't graphical prowess.
@Ravix Honestly, I'm not sure. I've just checked the press release and it says the same as the official website: the collector's edition includes the "base game" but there's no mention of whether it's a disc or not. Going to assume it is, seeing as the standard edition "base game" seems to be on disc.
@caiol92 It's a very linear game so far, with little in the way of cinematics beyond the opening. Boss fights are definitely the focus, with some fairly straightforward sections in between where you fight lesser enemies and pick up resources.
I'd say it feels like a more linear Souls game in terms of pacing / structure.
@riceNpea All the environments are seamlessly stitched together, so there's no loading. But when you first load the game, or when there's a cinematic, you'll get load screens that are actually quite long — at least compared to what we're used to on PS5.
Takes maybe 10 seconds or so to respawn at the last checkpoint if you die, too.

@RudeAnimat0r CDPR isn't the primary developer on the remake. It's being handled by another Polish studio called Fool's Theory.

@themightyant Confident we'll see it before 2030. Somewhat confident it'll actually release before 2030!

Re: Visions of Mana (PS5) - Classic RPG Series Returns with Good But Flawed Intentions
@Barry_vV Performance, and it's definitely not a locked 60 in my experience. It does hit 60 a lot of the time, but it's prone to drops in some areas.
That said, I think a pre-launch patch might have improved the frame rate slightly. But it arrived a bit too late for me to do any real testing.

@MUG3NHC Yeah, there's a strange lack of indoor exploring. All of the towns are outdoor only.
The only times you're actively exploring an inside space is during dungeons, or in very specific story-based locations.

@Deoxyr1bose Nope, no launchers, combat's very grounded outside of some flying enemies (which are almost always a pain to deal with).
Re: Black Myth: Wukong (PS5) - A Spectacularly Creative Action Romp
@Fiendish-Beaver I would either just play it on PC, or wait and see if the developer improves the PS5 version — but who knows how long that'll take.
