@TedLassoNikes It specifically says "sold-through", which is the typical business term for full sales. So we assume that doesn't include subscription numbers.
@Ralizah Trials of Mana was a full remake as well, and a 3D one at that. Still fairly pricey at £45, but that's honestly the price point I would have expected for this kind of remake.
@3Above I imagine a lot of Sea of Thieves' sales will come from groups of friends all deciding to buy it and play together. Helldivers 2 will be the same. Gives multiplayer games very long-lasting sales as long as they're good.
@colonelkilgore Honestly it deserves much of the praise — it's a cool concept and it's well realised. But yeah, it feels like a PC game if you know what I mean. The way it's designed, the menus, the controls... Again, though, I would expect the devs to improve it on console over time.
@colonelkilgore 7 is a good score, blah blah blah. But for what it's worth, I think V Rising is really good, it's just not great on consoles. Could be that with a few updates, it fulfils its potential.
@Kidfunkadelic83 It's like Skype (one for the oldies!) / a huge forum database / messaging service all rolled into one.
With this update, you can basically be part of Discord calls through your PS5, meaning that it's easier to chat with your Discord pals who aren't on PS5, while you're playing PS5.
This whole thing never sat right with me, there was no way one person would have access to so much info. The best part is he had basically everyone fooled, including actual insiders, who often tried to corroborate with him.
Hilariously, I don't think half as many people would have bought into this without the idea that it was a broken English-using Japanese woman behind the account. Utterly embarrassing, but also quite funny.
Really looking forward to this, I thought the Trials of Mana remake was a great little game. Sometimes you just want that classic RPG whimsy, and Visions seems to have it in spades.
@Zuljaras Yeah, it'll be using the same animation blueprint as Mirage and past games, to some extent. It's been this way since the franchise was rebooted with Origins.
Although Naoe definitely has some new stealth animations, which is good to see. The stealth does look quite fluid at least.
@Zuljaras I remember Valhalla looked really rough and unfinished when it was first shown. It got cleaned up quite a bit for release but it still wasn't perfect. Hopefully Shadows comes together better.
@nessisonett It's a dire situation when you start weighing everything up. BioWare's reputation has been in a downward spiral for years, it's been an eternity since the last Dragon Age, most of the key devs have left, and we all know that The Veilguard has been in development hell.
So to me, it's felt like BioWare either has to blow people away with The Veilguard's reveal (always unlikely) or it just needs to make a genuinely great RPG (jury's obviously out on that one).
With this reveal I think it's fallen very short of the perceived mark. The negativity's already out of control — but at least there's a gameplay showcase next week.
In any case, The Veilguard feels like make or break doesn't it? Now more than ever.
@TheFakulty I agree. If my options are either to grind the same missions / daily quests / timed events over and over again or spend real money to get the thing I want, I'd rather just play a different game!
@TheFakulty The model is free-to-play with unlockable characters and cosmetics, not unlike a gacha game. We won't know how bad the monetisation is until the game launches, though.
@__Seraph I'm glad someone said it. At best, The Answer is some pretty good Persona 3 dungeon crawling that adds a bit more depth to some specific characters.
At worst it's basically bad fan fiction that slaps an unnecessary epilogue on a game that already has a fantastic, memorable ending.
If Episode Aigis is just a straight remake of The Answer with no narrative adjustments, I definitely wouldn't consider it to be essential.
"Episode Aigis, the paid expansion that's coming to Persona 3 Reload in September, was originally going to be included in the remake itself. This is according to a Famitsu interview with producer Kazuhisa Wada (as translated by Persona Central), who explains that development cycle difficulties forced the team to abandon its ambitions."
And that's fair enough if it's true, but like you say, Atlus' track record speaks for itself with DLCs and re-releases, etc. It's hard not to by cynical sometimes.
Still, doesn't change the fact that this is effectively a £30 expansion because it's locked behind a DLC pass. I can see why some people are complaining.
@AFCC I feel like people are overlooking Portugal. All the conversation is around England, France, Germany... And while that makes sense, Portugal's squad is deadly in its own right. And as an LFC fan, I'd love to see Jota have a great tournament.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Would recommend Samurai Warriors 4 and One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 as two of the best Warriors games ever made.
For Dynasty Warriors specifically, Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition (what a name!) was the last good one. I assume you can get it dirt cheap now as well.
@Perturbator @TheAmbienWalrus I think the thing with Monster Hunter is that the core concept and gameplay loop has always been incredible — it's just that for a lot of people, it was buried behind systems that really demanded time and patience to understand.
Even I remember buying the original MH on PS2 for pennies second hand, but I ultimately just couldn't break through the immediate learning curve. Obviously the games have gotten a lot better at easing new players in.
The history of MH is a really interesting subject!
@VaultGuy415 For me, the backwards co-op system in World was the only bad thing about the game (and maybe inventory management, at times). Capcom really should be improving on that given how huge Monster Hunter is!

I'm going to use this first comment to share some stats from the poll:
Push Square readers really don't like competitive, live service shooters!
Re: Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake Is a Full $60 Release on PS5
@Ralizah Yeah, I'd guess Square Enix sees Dragon Quest as a 'premium' IP regardless of the release.
This remake clearly took longer to develop than expected, too. I wonder if there was a decision to ramp the price up in order to make the budget back.

@pumpkin_head @Bentleyma Dragon Quest 3 is a prequel to the first Dragon Quest, which probably explains it.

This looks quite a bit rougher than I expected, although it's still months away from release.

@ArcadeHeroes You remember right: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/03/persona-3-reloads-episode-aigis-dlc-was-dropped-from-the-base-game-due-to-development-difficulties
"Episode Aigis, the paid expansion that's coming to Persona 3 Reload in September, was originally going to be included in the remake itself. Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Is Making Some Big Changes as Capcom Drops First Gameplay Details
@Perturbator @TheAmbienWalrus I think the thing with Monster Hunter is that the core concept and gameplay loop has always been incredible — it's just that for a lot of people, it was buried behind systems that really demanded time and patience to understand.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch 1.150 Drops as Players Still Wait for Better PS5 Performance
@Neither_scene DD2 will have 100% been a testing bed for a lot of the tech that'll be present in MH Wilds, especially the more 'open world' stuff.
Like you say, we just have to hope that Capcom will smooth it out.
