Re: As Bargain Bin Tomb Raider Goes to Embracer, PlayStation Seeks Acquisition Expert

Stragen8

Even with uncharted being TR’s main competitor - they could have leapfrogged the franchises every few years to lessen any franchise fatigue but still maintain absolute dominance in that style of game.

Seems a little late to be hiring for this position, there will always be taken acquisition but it feels like this current time frame is going to have the biggest moves for the foreseeable future.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Biggest Problem Is Consumer Relations

Stragen8

I haven’t been a fan of their communication tactics but I’ve also been very out of touch with how social media/influencers work these days to get news out.

Maybe they’re more aware of how the casual audience absorbs news and this tactic works to reach those people?

Re: Reaction: PS Plus, PS Now's Makeover a Necessary and Positive Step for Sony

I wish the names were less confusing. It just doesn’t have the same ‘ring’ or clear marketing that ‘Gamepass’ does. I have a good idea what a Gamepass is without knowing anything about it.

PlayStation Plus Premium? What does that tell me lol. It’s like Capcom and their Street Fighter Signa X Pro Flying V Guitar Edition titles.

Also I hope they continue to build the ‘classic’ library of games and not just stop where it’s at.

Re: Uncharted Is One of the Highest Grossing Video Game Movies of All Time

Stragen8

As a big fan of the franchise, I enjoyed it much more then I expected.

I do love these types of movies in general but there were enough nods to the games that it felt pretty good as an ‘uncharted’ movie but didn’t retread the games too much which was refreshing.

Nolan north cameo is probably my favorite cameo of all time.

Spoiler alert:
My only gripe was the lack of supernatural enemies. Hopefully the sequel will follow the first game with them tho.

Re: Hideo Kojima's New Project Getting Lots of Sony Love

It’s a shame Death Stranding gets such a bad reputation. The beginning two or three chapters are a bit of a slog (and maybe a misstep on the devs part for how long it is) but after that, vehicles and combat and the different suits and such make it pretty fun.

The story is really engaging and unique. Glad I played it. Not one I’d personally replay, but I was happy for the experience and would encourage people to give it a shot (and not judge it on the opening hours)

@Shepherd_Tallon I’ve just hopped back in after playing a ton at launch.

I’m having a blast again! I do find it confusing what content is and isn’t available haha. And not a fan of them removing old content like the original raid and stuff.

I’m hoping Sony includes old DLC as a part of PS+ revamp. It’s kind of expensive to get all of it to catch back up haha

Re: The Last of Us Dev Naughty Dog Hiring for Three PS5, PS4 Games

Stragen8

They had been a 2 game at a time studio since U2 launched I think right?

I’d imagine it’s the same thing, but with the addition of the spun off multiplayer team working on Factions - which I guess at this point isn’t just a small tie in but legit big budget multiplayer game.

Hoping to see a cool new IP - preferably based on Savage Starlight

Re: Remember to Buy Horizon Forbidden West on PS4, And Not PS5

Stragen8

@vapidwolf1 Yes I prefer physical if it’s a 1:1 in price.

But if it’s 70$ vs included in my 15$ a month sub…..I’ll play it on the sun and when it drops in price buy the physical if I like the game.

I’m also the type of person that will still buy CDs if I like the album (I primarily use a streaming service), so I understand that I’m in a massive minority here with this lol

Re: Remember to Buy Horizon Forbidden West on PS4, And Not PS5

Stragen8

@Col_McCafferty 100%. It’ll be like Netflix etc once it reaches market dominance. Prices will rise, content will continue to be ‘meh’ quality and some form of ‘canceling after season 2’ once the hype dies will occur like it does with Netflix.

I absolutely hate the concept of Gamepass and what it’ll probably do to the industry, but when looking at my wallet, it’s very enticing right now haha.

Overall I’d much rather pay 60/70$ for a high quality game. Sometimes I just have to skip out on some releases or wait for sales depending on how many things launch at the same time. This is a hard month with all the good games coming out.

Re: Remember to Buy Horizon Forbidden West on PS4, And Not PS5

Stragen8

@get2sammyb If you buy the PS4 copy, won’t you need to then keep a large download (upgrade) file on your PS5 as well?

With the limited storage I’d rather not download an upgrade file every time I go back to revisit the game.

I know I’m in the minority on that but it’s still a thought haha.

And yeah, can’t play Horizon on Xbox but when the reality of spending 70$ on a new game hits (last full price game I got was RE8, so it’s not often for me these days) it makes you do a double take and reconsider financial choices lol.

Re: PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan Says You Should Expect More Acquisitions

Stragen8

We all see what’s happening in the streaming space like Netflix etc.

This is the only move that makes sense for traditional console makers to keep up. Lock in as much original content as you can to keep people subscribed. If Sony didn’t start doing this they’d only get left behind as a storefront leader and become like Sega etc when the inevitable streaming future becomes the norm.
