667GB of storage space is absolutely fine for me. I never sought to upgrade the internal 500GB HDD that came with my PS4, and now I've got a 1TB USB portable HDD attached to it that I keep most of my games on. Since I will likely be playing mostly PS4 games on the PS5 for the first year at least, I will be able to manage the PS5's lack of space. I won't be buying at launch, so who knows by the time I'm ready to get a PS5 there may be a model with a higher capacity SSD.
As much as I would have liked to have another Ratchet & Clank game on PS4, I think this is awesome news. I loved R&C 2016 and Rift Apart will be one of the games I get when I eventually get a PS5.
It looks great overall, but I must admit I'm a little disappointed that you can still make out polygon edges on the jerseys in the screenshots. Still, that doesn't detract from how good it looks in motion.
Maybe, just maybe, the UI isn't quite done yet and Sony don't want to have people see the bugs or incomplete features and talk **** about it. Which would be rather unfortunate since we are, as @get2sammyb states, 38 days away from launch!
If GT7 releases in late 2021 or even 2022, that'll be right in line with when I plan to upgrade to a PS5. My previous 3 PlayStations were all bought because of Gran Turismo, and the PS5 / GT7 will carry on that tradition.
Straight up looks like it was made in Dreams. At the end when the two cakes are beating the cream fillin' out of each other was priceless and makes me want to get this game
@eddie429 My comment was encompassing of people that may be on the fence of getting a new console in November or upgrading/buying a new gaming PC rig in a few weeks. In the past few days there have been people online that are saying that they will skip buying a new console and just upgrade their computer's GPU and other parts when the new hardware releases. Granted, if this comes to pass it I think it would theoretically have more of an impact on Xbox Series X sales than PS5's sales simply because of the exclusives that will be available on Sony's system.
That said, not everyone will be able to drop $500 - $700 new GPU or a new console because of the current state of the world. The fact that Sony and MS continue to hold out on pricing / preorder info this late into the year is just adding to the frustration of those would have to budget to get what they want. I'm in that boat myself.
@JohnKarnes True, but when you consider the 3070 still outperforms the 2080 (and in addition the new consoles) by a considerable margin for $500, if you've already got the oter hardware to take advantage of that card the value of it is pretty good. Possibly even the 3060 may be able to go toe-to-toe with the consoles, whenever that card is announced.
In addition to the frustration we're all feeling because of this waiting game Sony and Microsoft has us all involuntarily playing, now Nvidia has (smartly) thrown a wrench in our next-gen upgrade plans. "Hey Sony and Microsoft, your consoles are on par with our 2 year old high end GPUs? What's that you say? The consoles will be able to outperform current top tier PCs? Well we'd like to introduce you to our new 3000 series cards."
🤔 so the game that pwned all our PC's back in 2007 can do ray-traced water reflections on PS4 Pro? Getting the popcorn ready for Digital Foundry's and NX Gamer's deep dive into the tech. I can imagine Richard's full-fat description of the "silky smooth 15 FPS cinematic experience."
I agree with everyone that the game looks phenomenal, and even though I'm not usually a fan of Soul-like gameplay, the quality of animations and the cadence of the dialogue (even though I can't understand a single word they're saying) has my interest piqued.
I can't say it would be a PS5 system seller for me, but I will at least play a demo on my gaming laptop if one is released on Steam. I can hear my 1660 Ti GPU crying out already.
The Jet Black controller that came with my PS4 died one night back in 2018, so I hopped a bus and went to one of the local gaming stores here. $160 later (yes a DualShock 4 costs that much in Barbados) I had a brand new Wave Blue controller in hand. It was the only colour they had in stock that I liked, but I would really have loved to get a Steel Black version instead.
The perception tables have really turned. Just a few short months ago it seemed Microsoft was ready to 'Jump In' to Gen 9 and Sony looked like the laggard. I guess playing it's cards close to the chest has to this point worked out for the Japanese brand. I believe both platform holders still have some major news to put out (besides the price and on sale dates, of course) and I hope both of them do well.
I've not seen the inside of a bus or any public transportation in months due to the pandemic. I ride my bike everywhere I have to go. Maybe I should pick up this game to remind myself of the non-sweaty, less well-developed legs times.
I finally got some gaming time in early this morning so I've been playing Sonic Mania and Snowrunner since around 1:30am. I'll try Snowrunner in multiplayer tonight (thanks Sony) and may finally jump into Horizon Zero Dawn. I saw the comparisons of PS4 and PC and that reminded me I never actually started my copy on PS4
I'll look into getting a PS5 in a couple of years post-launch. As exciting and tempting as a new piece of kit is to get, I don't like to buy 1st run hardware. The possibility of manufacturing faults and bugs is just too high for me to sink my hard-earned money into something that may break down soon after purchase. Living in Barbados also gives me limited, and very expensive, options to have a busted system repaired under warranty should something go wrong. Hopefully my 2015-era PS4 will last until I decide to get a PS5.
Just remember folks: "No animals were harmed during the making of this game" It does make me want a follow-up article showing how they motion captured the dog kills in the game though. Perhaps with inanimate stand-in models or pure hand animation?
Funny how just a year ago looking at this all I would have seen is a bunch of French people scrambling for a deal on a PS4. Now this year, I've gone all Gandalf: "Flee, you fools, the Virus is upon you!"
Too bad Xbox gamers will have to miss out on that aspect of the title. Awesome news for PSVR owners though. Hopefully the gameplay in general will be worth it.
@mclarenrob2 That's fine by me if it doesn't. I intend to let my PS4 last me for at least a year or 2 into the PS5 life cycle before I make the jump anyhow.
Looks great. I hope it's comfortable and made of high quality materials. I've had my Platinum headphones for 2 years and the earpads have already started to peel (maybe due to the heat in Barbados), but the rest of the headset still looks pristine.

@Enigk Yes it does, that was one of the PS5's new embargoed features. @get2sammyb will not be pleased you broke the news in comments.

Supraland, eh?
I guess I will be seeing a few references to Toyota's flagship sports car in this game, then?
Re: PS5 Stand Solution Is Seriously Nifty
So, there seems to be a pattern developing here for how I orient my PS consoles:
PS1 - Horizontal (had a late model OG PS1, never had the disc read error that made some people place it vertically)
PS2 - Vertical (just looked better that way to me and I had one of those stands with the slots to store my game cases next to the console)
PS3 - (never had a PS3)
PS4 - Horizontal (never bought a stand and I don't like how it looks stood vertical anyway)
PS5 - (whenever I get one, I'll have it set up vertically, not really a fan of how it looks in horizontal orientation)
