Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (PS5) - The Strongest Return to FPS Form

Honestly more than anything the omni-movement is what puts me off this game. It looks designed for sweats and I feel like it's hard to just jump on CoD after work now without people diving and sliding everywhere wearing a paid for Nicki Minaj skin. CoD hasn't felt liked CoD in a long time. I get that it's known for arcade style gameplay rather than military simulation but please, I beg, some immersion at least.

@Yagami Agreed I think China and South Korea also fall under that idea. The best way I can sum it up is: it's ok to have games with more realistic female characters where the focus is on their character and their story, like Ellie in TLOU, and it's ok to have female characters like Eve in Stellar Blade or Quiet in MGSV that cater to the male fantasy fanservice crowd. Both are ok and both can co-exist

I know we'll never get the full breadth of mods that PC players get, but I hope Larian are quite liberal with what mods they allow on consoles and don't take ages to drip feed a small amount of mods to us like most other studios that allow consoles mods do.

I'll be happy with a lot of new cosmetics and hopefully some new playable races on console (been wanting to play as a Goblin since day 1) and being able to play as other characters like Jaheira or Minthara as an origin character would be amazing and I know these mods exist on PC already so hopefully it doesn't take too much to get them working on console.

The idea of people being able to use the mod tools to create entire new areas, campaigns and characters for possibly decades to come is a truly exciting prospect and hopefully something we can experience on console. I know we'll never be able to create mods on console but I do hope they're able to bring a lot of the PC mods over at the launch of patch 7 on console. Hopefully one for a photo mode before they release it officially as I know they have planned.

This is one of the few times I've myself disagreeing with a Push Square review. I'd say a 7 is very harsh considering it improves on the first game in pretty much every way. The first game, although I liked it, felt like Resident Evil 4 part 2m whereas this game has more of its own identity, and I would say seems inspired by TLOU and Silent Hill. The graphics are fantastic which I didn't expect and the new sem-open world structure definitely works in its favour.

I honestly think this is just in response to Larian offering full nudity in Baldur's Gate 3. Yes DA games have always had nudity and sex in them but I don't think they would have allowed DA to have full nudity in the character creator creator if Larian didn't do it first (Yes I know technically CDPR did it with Cyberpunk but you'd never actually see this replicated in the gameplay meaning it felt largely pointless). I'm looking forward to this game but it's clearly another sign that they're out of good ideas at this point and are just following RPG leaders trying to replicate what makes them great

And obviously they had to pick the cutest kid imaginable to play Sam didn't they. It made it so much harder to watch knowing what was going to happen.

I have to say, this is the episode that Bella truly won me over as Ellie. An absolutely fantastic performance all around and brilliant casting in general. I thought the choice to make Sam deaf was an excellent decision that worked really well and yet another addition that works amazing in the show but never would have worked in the game.

I think to truly get these most out of this game you need to do a lot of playthroughs with each of the classes. If you're going to just do one playthrough to see the story and then not return to it there isn't a great deal of value in it.

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Episode 2 - Establishing a New Lore

I thought the first half of the episode went a bit slow but the second half was incredible.

When they finally revealed the Clickers it was excellent, not with a predictable jumpscare, but by showing them blindly shambling into the room as they would in the game. They didn't rush that scene either and took their time to truly show the clickers off. I'd even say the finale of the episode improved on the game. Having a horde of infected storm the capital is more exciting than FEDRA soldiers turning up. I think having Neil so heavily involved really helps, it keeps everything great about the game but amps it up and even improves on it in some places.

SPOILERS
I thought it was fantastic. The opening was amazing. I loved the scientist explaining how the Cordyceps works in such a clear way that anybody who hasn't played the games could understand it.

The opening was amazing and I think even improved the opening of the game in some ways. The planes falling out of the sky was a particularly great touch. I do think the choice to leave the spores out is a bit odd but hopefully it'll make sense in the long run. Even my GF and MIL thought it was great and they don't know anything about the games.
