Tried it last night for an hour and it was pretty good, I may put a couple hours a week into it but knowing it can't be completed puts me off investing a lot of time into it. If only Hoyoverse could make a proper single player game, it would sell like crazy.
@ImGame69 unfortunately some devs don't care about a long lasting trajectory, as they usually make a profit within the first few months via microtransactions and in HellDivers 2's case actual sales. Some publishers throw out these live service games as a quick way to get some revenue and if it's a hit then that's a bonus.
@BeerIsAwesome I do enjoy the SAO games but I think it's time they let the series go and maybe focus on another Anime instead like Reincarnated as a Slime, Shield Hero or Mushoku Tensei, all three would suit the RPG style these guys go for.
@CutchuSlow it's not a gacha, it's a full priced game with a single player story and a massive 20 multiplayer co op, with dungeons and raids. I'm not too sure if you create your own character but previous SAO games allowed you to either play as kirito as he is or you can edit his appearance and gender. From the gameplay shown though you can play as any of the characters in the game.
Also is Decapolice still confirmed for this year? Found it pretty strange it was missing from the Nintendo Direct, same with the new Fantasy Life. Maybe Level 5 are in development hell yet again.
It was Metaphor Re Fantazio but I've recently found out that each area in the game is time limited and you can't fully explore each area in one playthrough, so my hype has dropped off a little.
So now it's either Astro Bot or Dragon Quest 3 HD, if I'm including Switch games then it's probably Mario and Luigi Brothership.
This is great news and cements my day one purchase. Hopefully there's regular free battle passes so there's something to keep playing for other than rank.
Not gonna lie, this is a massive turn off. I will still get the game but my hype just shot down. If I'm spending 60-80 hours in one playthrough then I absolutely want access to everything the game has to offer.
I might not get it day one and instead wait a few weeks until a few Walkthroughs are done and reccomended dungeon lists so I don't miss any of the best stuff.
It's sad to see that there's a movement against this game, people want the game to fail miserably without even playing it. Infact people were dead against it before any gameplay reveal, I don't know if it's just because it's a live service game, or because it's a SONY live service game.
For someone who plays 20-30 games per year and with most of those day one this isnt good news for me. The reason I can afford so many games is down to selling them on ebay once I'm finished and getting 60-70% of my money back to put towards my next games. I also rent a lot of games per year which wouldn't be a thing anymore with gaming going all digital, so I'd definitely be playing a lot less games per year and will not be spending as much money either as il be waiting for sales a lot more even on games I'd normally get day one.
So going all digital may also weaken launch sales and possibly overall sales in the long run.
Currently playing Vesperia Definitive Edition and it's quickly became my second favorite of the series behind Arise. I wouldn't mind them going back to the older art style as well.
@naruball Stellar Blade sold 1 million in two months but on one platform (PS5) whilst Lies of P sold one million in one month but was on 5 platforms (PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Series S/X)
@Silenos So you put 150 hours into a single player game and didn't complete it because of its difficulty? That right there should be a great example of why Difficulty options are needed, especially for people who like to complete games otherwise that's 150 hours of their life they could have spent actually completing other games.
Also, Changing the difficulty isn't the only option to make the game easier. There's no need for From Software to change the enemies move patterns or even the amount of enemies in certain areas. All they need to do is add a enemy health/damage slider, so 100% for the usual difficulty and for those wanting it to be easier they can lower the percentage, I've even seen some games have the option to turn off damage altogether for those that just want to explore and see the story.
Yes, the reason I haven't touched Bloodbourne or the Dark Souls games are because of the difficulty, same for Nioh. The only reason I put 90 hours into Elden Ring was because of the summoning totems which meant I could stay back and cast spells whilst the other two guys did the heavy work.
I know people will just say "git gud" but it's not that simple, I don't play games for a challenge, I like no aggro whilst I play games and with the amount of games I play per year i don't want to spend hours and hours replaying bosses and areas. I'm not saying I want it easy peasy either, I play my games on normal which most of the time gives the right amount of challenge. If normal is too hard then I don't have to worry as I can put it into easy and if normal is too easy then I can either put it on hard or equip armor/weapons in game that make me weaker. But having no options at all is a big turn off for me, if it wasn't for difficulty options and helpful armor sets then I wouldn't have completed my game of the year so far, Stellar Blade.
That's the difference adding difficulty options can make, going from a big turn off to loving the game. I also believe including difficulty options will mean more sales as the game then becomes more accessible to more players.
Honestly I found the beta quite boring, compared to Overwatch Valorant feels like a budget title, the game from Hi-Rez (Rogue Company) felt better to play.
Just seems like a certain crowd are making excuses to defend the Series S. If Sony wanted an exclusive deal then it would have been done ages ago and we would have known about it by now as they make it clear in trailers, yet this dev have already stated it was a multi platform game from the beginning. The developers have even commented themselves saying that's its delayed due to Xbox Series X/S optimization.
The only thing I can see that could have happened is that the dev was going to delay the game for all platforms because of the Series S but Sony asked them to release the finished working PS5 version sooner.
I thought it was a fantastic game and probably my game of the year for 2023. My only complaint is the boring side quests but that doesn't take away from the beautiful visuals, gripping story and great combat.
Some people are just in denial over this, it's like they are trying so hard to convince themselves it's not happening. But time will tell, if Starfield or Hellblade 2 are on Playstation 5 by the end of next year then basically any game could come to Playstation.
After playing the Beta I can see why Valorant is last, I was hyped for this as its one of the most talked about online hero shooters but my god is the game boring and feels flat, and the overall feel of the game is like an indie compared to Overwatch. I must be missing something...
@themightyant PlayStation have had a stellar year in my opinion, yes their State is Play was disappointing but there's no need to judge their outcome just on that alone like the majority are doing over the last few weeks.
This year so far we've had FF7 ReBirth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, TLOU 2 Remastered, Rise of the Ronin, HellDivers 2 and Stellar Blade and coming up we have Silent Hill 2, Astro Bot, Concord, Until Dawn and Lego Horizon. Plus there's a lot of great looking Multi Plat games like Star Wars, Wukong, Assassins Creed, Dragon Age, Dragon Quest etc
In my opinion this has been /will be an excellent year for Playstation gamers and looking at other platforms excellent all round.
Dragon Quest 3 HD, Romancing Saga 2, Farmagia, Fairy Tail 2, Lego Horizon and Fantasian are all day one for me. This year has been incredible for JRPG's, best on record even.
This looks great, so that's this, Dragon Quest 3 HD, Fantasian and Visions of Mana from Square coming up but the sad thing is with their new strategy this might be the last we see of these smaller titles.
Just watched them on YouTube and it looks pretty good in my opinion, not much more you can expect from playing as Wolverine. Definitely be keeping an eye on this one but so far it's day one.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your PS5 Game of the Year for 2024 So Far?
It's been a great year so far and it's only going to get better and more difficult to pick a GOTY. But, so far I'd say my top 3 (in order) are,
1. Stellar Blade
2. Unicorn Overlord
3. FF7 ReBirth
If I was to include other platforms as well then I'd have to include Paper Mario TTYD into my top 3.

Xbox has been down today as well, 3 hours so far and no fix yet so atleast playstations was a quick fix.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Caters to All with Completely Customisable Difficulty Settings
@Tevor Never knew Tunic had that option, Will definitely be downloading that tomorrow knowing if it gets too difficult I can still complete the game.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Caters to All with Completely Customisable Difficulty Settings
Nice to see devs make their game cater to anyone, take notes FromSoftware....

Re: PS5 Fan Favourite Stellar Blade Sold Over 1 Million Copies, Dev Estimates
1 million is pretty good for a new IP from a Korean developer who usually only make mobile games.
Also it's estimated budget was 50 million so it's easily made that back and will continue to make a profit going forward, especially once it hits PC.
