Re: Astro Bot Director Surprised By Level of Support from Fellow PlayStation Studio Heads

UltimateOtaku91

I hope this game is mega successful sales wise and a sequel gets greenlit. I haven't played such a pure fun game on Playstation for years, I'm on the last world and don't want it to end 😢.

Also playing through the game has made me want to play through older Playstation games, so I think once I'm done with this game I will be downloading Ape Escape P, Jak and Daxter 1, Locoroco remastered and Patapon Remastered.

Re: Astro Bot PS5 Fans Wonder Where All the Square Enix Characters Are

UltimateOtaku91

@Ralizah Apart from Fantasian, nothing new has been announced yet but I can't see their partnership with Nintendo ending as it's a place for their lesser projects like Harvestella, Triangle Strategy, Bravely Default, Live a Live, Dragon Quest Monsters and Treasures. Hopefully I'm wrong and those titles make the jump to other consoles.

Re: Soapbox: Astro's Playroom PS5 Did Live Service and You Didn't Even Notice

UltimateOtaku91

For me personally there's a big difference between a game being live service and a game getting an update. So when games get an update adding difficulty options or some slight new features then do they become automatically live service? Atlas Fallen just got a big update so does that mean it's a live service game too? Stellar Blade got a photo mode and costumes after a few months so is that also live service?

Re: Soapbox: Astro Bot PS5 Is Not a Graveyard, It's a Joyful Demonstration of Sony's Unique Ability to Reinvent Itself

UltimateOtaku91

I think playstation had to reinvent themselves and ditch some of those IP's, Sony's best selling games were on the PS4/PS5 with Spider-Man, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War 2018/Ragnarok, Uncharted 4 and TLOU remastered/2.

Before those, their games on PS2 and PS3 were struggling to sell more than 9 million, games like Killzone, Resistance, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Motorstorm, Gravity Rush, Socom, Older God of War games, Infamous and even most Gran Turismo games weren't the huge sellers that Playstations games are today.

Re: Astro Bot PS5 Is the Best Game of the Year So Far

UltimateOtaku91

I'm happy for team Asobi, and hopefully this game sells really well so more time are resources are given to this developer going forward.

I'm already curious to what they can do next, do they stick with Astro going forward? Or do they move onto a new IP or even work on some older IP's like Sackboy or Jak and Daxter, or even a cross over game with all of them in.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox Delay Isn't Due to Platform Limitations, Says Microsoft

UltimateOtaku91

Microsoft are just trying to protect the Series S yet there has been multiple cases of developers either struggling to get their game running on Xbox or developers openly admitting the Series S is a nightmare. Then we have the fact Microsoft are struggling to make 60fps games even though they have the more "powerful" console, but in reality the Series S is holding their own games back.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Needs to Take a Long, Hard Look at Itself

UltimateOtaku91

Are Sony not allowed to make mistakes on games every now and then? I mean this is probably their only first party game to fail massively. Their consoles sales are strong and third party support has never been better, they have gave us a new VR and Portal devices. Plus we have Astro Bot coming up and HellDivers 2 was highly successful.

Yet there's too much focus on Concord failing right now, once Some AAA single player games come out next year people will forget all about this.

Re: PS5, PC Shooter Concord Dead on Arrival, Is Being Taken Offline This Week as Dev 'Explores Options'

UltimateOtaku91

@Maubari Basically if it's a paid live service game then it's chances of flopping are very high, as in that same time frame there's been some successful live service games but they have been free to play, like Palworld, The Finals, Once Human, First Descendant and Honkai Star Rail.

HellDivers 2 was a rare occurrence, but the only reason is because it was unique and no other game on the market is like it.

Re: Failing Manufacturers Are Pushing the Narrative That Consoles Are Dying, Says Ex-Xbox Exec

UltimateOtaku91

In my opinion consoles need to stick around, especially for living room gaming. I've tried streaming games and it's nowhere near ready to be the main platform. There's input delay, game lag and audio delay over Bluetooth headphones, then there's video quality which most don't do 4k. It's worse on mobile devices, gamepass only offers 720p and then playing console games using touch screen controls is just awful, and casual gamers aren't going to want to play Console versions of Fifa, Call of Duty and GTA on a mobile phone.

Then there's the fact that if your internet goes down then you can't even play single player games, even with internet running the more devices connected the more laggy it's going to be. A streaming only future just sounds awful to me, and I definitely won't be supporting any platform that relies on it.

So far the only streaming that seems worth it is remote play which is fine if it's 1080p at least and on a native device that you don't need Bluetooth controllers and headset attached to otherwise the lag/delay is there too.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Sales Estimates Are Somehow Even Worse Than We Thought

UltimateOtaku91

@IOI I agree Sony/Firewalk did a lot wrong with the game, it's like they rushed it out as it was a quiet year for them other than Astro Bot. I think charging for it was the biggest mistake especially as it offered no story missions which I think could have helped it gain appeal especially if they were PvE based, it's something the Overwatch fans craved but never got. It's too risky to make a PvP only game and ask for money for it and then announce plans before release to add MTX later.

Also have the Beta 6-12 months before release, ask for feedback and change the game accordingly. The vignettes are cool to see but add some gameplay element to them either single player or PvE, add battle passes as that's what people are addicted to these days, make the overall gameplay a bit faster and add some playstation themed content into the game. All this could have been implemented if they had feedback a lot sooner.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Sales Estimates Are Somehow Even Worse Than We Thought

UltimateOtaku91

I'm hoping Sony keep Firewalk around and get them making their next game or give them TLOU Factions to finish. So far Concords sales have brought in revenue of £1 million and Sony surely atleast paid £100 million for Firewalk, that's atleast a loss of £99 million for the creation of this game so far. If the studio gets closed then Sony will be looking to cover that cost by raising prices in some areas.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Sales Estimates Are Somehow Even Worse Than We Thought

UltimateOtaku91

@TedLassoNikes Yeah but it's a single game in a market that consists of thousands of other games. I'd get it if there's only an handful of games releasing per year then yeah you would want to make sure you're getting games you actually want. Also Firewalk have never made another game, so Sony haven't stopped them developing single player games to make Concord as they were working on it before they got acquired. Sony haven't taken anything away from these gamers by making Concord.

Re: Sony Accused of Signing Secret PS5 Console Exclusivity Agreement with Black Myth: Wukong

UltimateOtaku91

Makes no sense to do this, the game was always going to sell way more on Playstation than Xbox anyway. So what would Sony get out of this deal? It's on PC as well which is where it has the most sales and Sony have run no marketing at all.

Just sounds like a few disgruntled xbox shills crying and trying to start some negativity because the game isn't on xbox yet. I suppose Sony also had a secret deal with Baldurs Gate 3 as well?
