Re: PS5's Lack of Tentpole Exclusives Isn't Hurting Engagement, Says Sony

UltimateOtaku91

I've been putting a load of hours into my PS5, especially more so this year with some lengthy JRPG's like Granblue, FF7 ReBirth, P3R, Unicorn Overlord, Dragons Dogma 2 and Trails Through Daybreak. Even in terms of online games I've put around 200 hours into Apex Legends, 50 into HellDivers 2 and 30 into Monster Hunter Rise.

I think the better the games are coming out then of course the engagement time will go up but ultimately it's down to online games becoming more and more popular.

Re: It Took PS5 Longer Than PS4 to Pass 4 Million Units Milestone in the UK, But There's Context

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 Yeah I agree, it's strange though why they are. Wing like this with their single player games but have no problem announcing Fairgames which is still atleast a year away now. So if they can show Fairgames a couple of years before it's release then why not their other games?

Same with the third party games they reveal at their showcases, some are years away like Pragmata and Little Devil Inside yet Sony showed them off two years ago. People don't care if the games are a few years away, as long as they know what's coming and can have something to look forward to.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 541

UltimateOtaku91

On PS5 i will be playing Fairy Tail and Trails Through Daybreak. Daybreak has been excellent so far, the best Trails game yet for me so far.

On Switch I will be playing Tears of the Kingdom, been using the strategy guide to make sure I do all the caves, wells, shrines and side quests in every area before I do the final sage. I will also be playing Splatoon 3 as its Splatfest weekend.

Re: It Took PS5 Longer Than PS4 to Pass 4 Million Units Milestone in the UK, But There's Context

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 I think GTA 6 will be a showcase of what the PS5 can really do, and games will only get better from there.

To chime in on the Pro conversation, It all depends on what Microsoft are doing. If Microsoft are going to cut this gen short and release their next console in 2026 then it makes sense for Sony to skip the Pro and focus on their next console as well so it competes with Microsoft, they wouldn't want Microsoft getting ahead again like they did with the Xbox 360.

Re: It Took PS5 Longer Than PS4 to Pass 4 Million Units Milestone in the UK, But There's Context

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 Call of Duty and Fifa are not good examples this time, when the PS4 came out the next three Call of Duty titles and Fifa titles still released on the PS3.

Even then there was some bigger single-player games that also still released on the PS3 like Persona 5, MGS 5, Dragon Age Inquisition, Watchdogs, Alien Isolation, Evil Within, Diablo 3, Wolfenstein, Shadow of Mordor etc.

There's always going to be some games that are cross gen as Devs don't want to alienate their player base so much and want to maximize profits. But the faster the new consoles increase their install base the quicker last gen games will disappear, this gen is still seeing last gen games because of the slow console sales during the first two years. 2025 onwards should finally see PS4 releases become rare especially from the AAA/AA devs/publishers.

Re: It Took PS5 Longer Than PS4 to Pass 4 Million Units Milestone in the UK, But There's Context

UltimateOtaku91

Well theres many factors why it took PS5 longer. The price being much higher during a time where people are trying to spend less, the supply issues during the first two years and the fact that the majority of games were still releasing on PS4 making the need to get a PS5 less urgent and in some cases (casuals) not necessary, but honestly that goes for the last two gens as well.

Either way Sony will be very pleased as it has the most revenue earnt compared to those other consoles.

Re: NISA Committed to Bringing Falcom's Trails and Ys Games West at a Faster Pace

UltimateOtaku91

Currently on Chapter 4 of Daybreak and really enjoying this one way more that Cold Steel 1-3, once I've finished it though I will go back to do CS 4 and Reverie. My only negative about the whole series so far is that they try to make every character have some big secret and there's too many plots going on at once in each game.

I would also like a Remake of the Trails in the Sky games, to see what kicked off this whole saga.

Re: Reaction: PS5 Needs a Price Cut

UltimateOtaku91

Surely the parts used to make the PlayStation 5 lose value after so many years? as there's always new upgraded components being made. Just like most things after a few years they lose value, so surely it's costing Sony less now to produce Playstation 5 consoles as it did when it released? Or maybe use cheaper alternative parts in some areas to cut down on cost.

Re: Deals: PSVR2 Price Gets a Hefty Cut at Numerous UK Retailers

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 Same at my work, I'm known as the gamer whilst everyone else just wants to talk abouy women, tv shows and football. One guy has a ps5 but no games, just bought it ready for GTA 6 lol. I don't know if gaming is in decline or if it's just youngsters these days just find it too nerdy to talk about, like if they talk about games they are going to get mocked for it or something. It's a shame really and it's a reason why I appreciate sites like this more.

Re: Deals: PSVR2 Price Gets a Hefty Cut at Numerous UK Retailers

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 Yeah this is the point where the latest consoles will start to get big price cuts, we've seen it with the VR2 today and id wager before Christmas the standard PS5 and the Switch consoles will get a permanent price cut. That will probably help sales pick up a bit but I can't see the PS5 reaching the PS4 figures and i definitely don't see the "Switch 2" doing as well as the Switch.

Re: Deals: PSVR2 Price Gets a Hefty Cut at Numerous UK Retailers

UltimateOtaku91

@OldGamer999 Yes but the WiiU gamepad was also the controller to play normal games with, people weren't interested in playing games with that thing. Playing handheld also wasn't compatible with evey game and also needs the main console unit to be on to play handheld mode. Then there was the awful naming of the console as some people just thought it was another Wii variation.

The WiiU had some great exclusives but still couldn't get many sales, there's no other reason why it failed so hard other than those points I mentioned.

Re: Deals: PSVR2 Price Gets a Hefty Cut at Numerous UK Retailers

UltimateOtaku91

@naruball The reason the Wii sold so well was because it had a unique selling point that people were actaully interested in which was the Family/Party and Exercise focus and peripherals, The switch has a unique selling point in it also being an handheld and has a wii style controller layout for fitness/party games so people were interested in that as well. The Wii U and GameCube offered no unique selling point that people were interested in, Most of Nintendo's console sales don't come from the games selling the system, it's the systems gimmicks that help Nintendo push sales.

If the next Nintendo Console is just a home console that offers no gimmicks then it's sales will be less than half what the Switch has and the casuals won't bother with it.

Re: Concord's Seemingly Unlimited Promo Budget Now Includes Animated Shorts

UltimateOtaku91

@Deoxyr1bose Sony only acquired them 15 months ago so the majority of the game had already been done and funded by then so it won't be too much of a financial hit to Sony's own resources but if the game flops and Sony decide to shut them down then it becomes a huge financial hit as that would be the acquisition price wasted.

I am quite intrigued to find out how much Sony paid for this studio considering it's their first game, unfortunately theres no info online.

Re: Training Modes, No Battle Pass, More Details Confirmed for Concord in Post-Beta Q&A

UltimateOtaku91

@NEStalgia The battle pass in Splatoon isn't a paid one, it's a free one that gets changed every three months. Also if the game is free and people enjoy playing it as much as they would playing £60 single player games then I don't see the problem with them spending some money every now and then. I've spent £8 in Apex Legends over the last 4 years for one battle pass and that battle pass gave me enough free currency to get the next one and then same again with that one etc and I've put in around 800 hours in that time. Yet you can spend £60 on some single player games and complete them in 10-15 hours, so £60 for 15 hours of enjoyment vs £8 for 800 hours of enjoyment. Obviously it varies on the person as some spend more but play less but it's up to each individual person to put their own value on their enjoyment.

Re: Preview: There's Nothing Super About Marvel Rivals on PS5

UltimateOtaku91

Just watched some gameplay on YouTube and I now agree with the article about it being an Overwatch clone. From the map layouts to how the game plays, if that gameplay was shown to me without me already knowing it's a new marvel game I would have thought it was Overwatch with a Marvel event.

Atleast Concord is trying to do it's on spin on things instead of copy and paste with a change of skins.

Re: Training Modes, No Battle Pass, More Details Confirmed for Concord in Post-Beta Q&A

UltimateOtaku91

Hmm not gonna lie i don't like the idea of not having a battle pass, it's a reason for people to keep playing everyday and it's quite satisfying seeing the pass progress and unlock stuff. I think they could have added a free pass every few months like in Splatoon 3 or even a paid one but with the currency easily earnt in game like with HellDivers 2.

Its not a deal breaker as there are still things to unlock by levelling up the characters but once those characters I play as are maxed out then what?
