@Dodoo Possibly loses a point because if you already have the PS4 version and don’t have interest in roguelikes, the visual upgrade isn’t all that compelling?
@__jamiie I’m not applauding a Sony takeover at all.
I’m showing a complete lack of sympathy for a company that seems to be making all the wrong decisions and then expecting bad things to not happen as a result.
@LunarFlame17 There’s a large difference between “oh, an act of god flattened my house and everything I own” and “oh, Sony just flipped a switch and all my stuff is inaccessible now.”
Obviously both have pros and cons. But I like actually OWNING my stuff and not indefinitely renting it.
glances at my hundreds of blu-ray movies, tv shows, games and such and smiles
So…a “technical error” in this case apparently means “we didn’t mean to invoke this YET, we built it in for down the road when other developers embrace this kind of crap. We want to be ahead of the horrible curve.”
This saddens me a bit. Not that Miles is still a huge part, but that Peter isn’t going to be the main Spider.
But I also grew up with Pete as the one and only, so I might be a bit biased. I absolutely DO like Miles, and I definitely enjoy this interpretation of the character so far. Just…really hope this Peter keeps being involved more than this seems to imply.
I subscribe for the monthly games (past and present), PSN discounts, and cloud saves. So your statement is provably false, or at least partially untrue.
@yohn777 The POINT was that they’re weirdly skipping this as a physical release in non-Asia regions, so the whole thing in the article about it being enough for a physical release rubs the wrong way for those of us who thought we were beyond this “releasing here, but not THERE” for this series.
Sorry to trigger you so badly, but after that reply…very not sorry.
@REALAIS Funny, most folks here seem to share my opinion.
It’s almost like they have a deserved bad reputation for pumping out shovelware games. The occasional decent game doesn’t negate their past examples of crap.
This will be microtransaction’d to death. Guaranteed. But please, keep defending Gameloft.
@REALAIS I’m commenting because Gameloft has a very meh reputation. And because I can. I’ve played their earlier works (to my shame) and have a very solid opinion of their record.
I'm honestly surprised they still exist, they were responsible for so many generic versions of existing game franchises on mobile devices back in the day, and never maintained them.
How Disney and other companies trust them with licenses anymore is...just astounding to me.
Had one crash, a couple of times baddies were somehow stuck in buildings but the game teleported them to the outside after a minute or two, had a mission beacon fall out of the system which required restarting from a save to pick up again…
A few bugs. But for the most part I had a blast. Nearly to 100% completion now!
@LifeGirl I can only hope you’re trolling, because data caps still exist and not everyone has super reliable internet. No reason to act like those people’s money isn’t as acceptable to game sellers as anyone else’s.
@Fiendish-Beaver Exactly. I totally respect those who PC game, but maintaining a gaming rig seems like an annoyance I don’t want to deal with.
That said, a friend of mine just built a decent gaming PC for about $1500, and he’s very happy with it. Me, I just want to put the disc in and (after install, of course) play without worrying about configuring anything!
@Loamy The battery life is certainly a valid critique, though the Pro Max life (which I’m jumping to after my non-Pro 13) is pretty fantastic! And micro transactions are just evil, so glad for releases like this which make that a non-issue. Tho Assassins Creed makes me nervous…
Another bit folks missed is that, since hardware ray tracing is in this…it’s pretty much confirmed that Apple’s M3 processor will also have that. Which will be a major thing when the M3 Macs come out later this year or early next. Apple’s putting some effort into making Mac gaming a viable liability, and my piddly little M2 Mac Mini holds its own for a $499 desktop compy.
Either way, the knee-jerk “hurr durr wHy gAmE On PhOnEZ” reactions are pretty amusing!
For everyone who doesn’t comprehend why people would want to game on their phones:
How big was the PSP screen again? 4.3 inches? And the Vita? 5 inches, right?
glances at the 6.1 inch iPhone 15 Pro screen and the 6.7 inch Pro Max screen
Yeah. Those people are just bonkers to expect gaming on those devices. And connecting PS5 controllers to iPhones is just impossible, guess this is all a pipe dream…
I’m very sure previous and current PSP/Vita owners here wouldn’t be total and complete hypocrites in pooh-poohing mobile gaming, wouid they? Naaaaah…
(Full disclosure: Yes, I owned a PSP and still own a Vita. No, I don’t mobile game except on my Switch these days because I’m old and my eyes suck. But good god, the amount of people here who don’t understand what a milestone this is, especially with HARDWARE RAY TRACING capability on a friggin iPhone…)
This will be a $5 bargain bin purchase for me down the road, I think. The art isn't horrible, but definitely something I'd have to personally push past...and the fact they have a bugged trophy list tells me a LOT of work needs to happen behind the scenes.
Definitely not saying its a bad game. Reviewer seems to have had a good time. Just think I'll skip it till its had a little more time in the oven.
At least it isn't We Are OFC or whatever the heck that thing was!
So, how about the actual translation/script? Spelling errors abound? Are we going to need for CoZ's translation/restoring missing content like we did for Chaos;Head/Chaos;Child?
I actually own two of the dvds they released, and am quite looking forward to this. Minor eye rolls for the folks who are dismissing this as EdGiNeSs, but I guess it takes all kinds to make this world spin ‘round!
@CWill97 Steins;Gate Elite, Steins;Gate 0, Chaos;Child, Robotics;Notes, Robotics;Notes Dash are currently available. The original version of Steins;Gate is PS3/Vita, and there is also a Vita version of Steins;Gate 0.
In order to play Chaos;Head Noah, you need either a PC or a Switch. And even then, you’ll want the PC version with a fan patch applied so you can get a better translation than the official one, plus cut content restored. I say this as someone who owns the physical version of the Chaos;Head/Child two pack for Switch and will likely never touch it.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered?
I still have the PS4 version sitting on my shelf unplayed. Got it for $10.
After seeing the barely-there upgrades and knowing I have no love for roguelikes, I’ll just play the PS4 version at 60fps on my PS5. Eventually.
Re: The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (PS5) - A Near Perfect Package for New and Returning Fans
@Dodoo Possibly loses a point because if you already have the PS4 version and don’t have interest in roguelikes, the visual upgrade isn’t all that compelling?
Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Previews Are Far from Positive
@Bunchesopuppies Funny how Arkham Asylum/City/Origins/Knight worked out just fine.
Rocksteady wasn’t all that “tied down by canon” then. Pretty sure it’s the live-action part and the actual gameplay that’s the issue with this one.
Re: Turns Out You Won't Lose Access to Those Discovery TV Shows on PlayStation After All
Ah, indefinite rentals. Truly, our all-digital-delivery future is so wonderful.
Re: Disney Doesn't Think It Was 'Overly Exclusionary' to Cut Planned PS5 Version of Indiana Jones
Well, Disney has been making really sound decisions lately, I’m sure this was just one more of them. >.>
Re: Big Spider-Man 2 PS5 Patch Planned, But Not Until 2024
I'm totally fine with this delay. It'll let me get some other games polished off before I dive in again!

Re: Lead Bungie Staff Fear 'Total Sony Takeover' After Layoffs, Delays
@RicebinBernacky I’m sure the cooking and knitting classes were absolutely essential in bolstering their spirits on a daily basis.

Re: Lead Bungie Staff Fear 'Total Sony Takeover' After Layoffs, Delays
Oh no!
Anyway…
Maybe Bungie will have to…I dunno…actually produce worthwhile content!
I’m glad they’re getting a lot of knitting and cooking done, though. Very important for morale, that.
Re: The Day Before Developer Apologises for Poor Marketing, Denies Scam Accusations

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?
In order of points given:
Spidey 2 because freaking Spidey.
FF16 because Game of Thrones with Chocobos.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! because even though I hoped, I never thought it’d get a western release.
Like a Dragon Gaiden because I’m a Yakuza/LAD devotee.
Octopath Traveler 2 because Octopath Traveller.

Re: An Amazing Number of Players Have Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Platinum Trophy
I definitely enjoyed it, as I did the first Spidey game which I also got platinum on.
Haven’t platted MM yet, but that was because other things came up. Need to go back and give that a shot.

@Cashews There’s nothing to “right.” You have full access to the base game plus the FIRST TWO EXPANSIONS.
That’s an insane amount of content, all for free. And the player base is larger than ever, Endwalker was massive.
