@Gaia093 Very good place to patch and restart/continue! The bit that was completely removed isn’t til one of the endings, so you’re thankfully not missing any actual content where you are, but I definitely noticed a difference between the CoZ patch on steam and my short time playing my unpatched Switch version.

@KaijuKaiser You don’t really need to. Play at your own pace with the free trial, very few things require you to be with other players if you really can’t find like 20 minutes on your own.

@awp69 Not at all. It’s just a location you can teleport to without cost. You can already get one of these by adding two factor authentication to your FF14 account, this is just a second one you get as a bonus for having PS Plus.

Once the game is installed, the disc is needed to prove you can play the game. But the game was still installed FROM the disc. It doesn’t RUN OFF OF the disc.

It’s been that way since the PS4.

@KundaliniRising333 this is NOT the norm. Assuming you’re talking about PS4/5 games, only patches/updates are downloaded. The console may SAY it’s downloading when it’s installing, but the disc is still providing it.

@rjejr The PS4 to PS5 upgrade is free, works with a PS4 disc, and functionally there will be no difference played on a PS5 other than the presence of a PS4 disc inside the console.

Once one gets a PS5, one only has to buy the dlc.

Thanks for the review, if I weren’t revisiting P5R on Switch this Friday (which is also unplayable apparently, since it’s 30fps there, nooo!) and FF14 most of the remaining time, I’d give this a try.

@HeeHo That’s what my AppleTV is for. My consoles are for gaming. The only exception is my PS3 which still to this day makes a DANDY .avi player!

Now if they can somehow get the original LucasArts game rereleased!

@Eldritch Still missing the point, as your use case (shaving half a second off load times) doesn’t negate the usefulness of being able to organize your games, especially when you still have a ton of PS4 games on non-SSD storage.

@Eldritch What does the presence of SSDs have to do with a person’s desire to organize their games? I have a metric ton on external storage, as well as quite a few on internal/M.2 storage, and it’d be nice for a “play next” or genre/series sorting.

Have 400 games in your library and then tell me folders aren’t useful.

Might be a simpler explanation than a higher-capacity disc. The PS5 game itself is likely smaller in and of itself.

Most PS5 versions of PS4 games take less storage space, due to less redundancy needed. With the SSD access times essentially nonexistent, there’s less need to duplicate data in an install, therefore less disc space needed initially.

Downloading using the discs I’ve had for a while now, which were bought for dirt cheap!

It’s worth mentioning that the digital version is currently on sale for $24.99 in the US PSN store.

@AstraeaV Convenience, obviously. If I have the PS4 PS Plus version and they allow it to be upgraded to PS5, why should my previous disc upgrade block it?

Like I said, the experience you describe is how it is supposed to happen and has no bearing on this. But the mere fact that I upgraded a disc previously now blocks what is SUPPOSED to work.

@AstraeaV That's irrelevant to the issue at hand, though. The issue is for those of us who bought the game on disc, redeemed the free upgrade with the disc, and now can't get access to the digital-only copy via PS Plus.

What you describe is just a standard digital purchase.

That is a VERY generous upgrade option. Especially since that side story release can be found on disc for super cheap!

Someone was using a month of Ps Plus they didn’t like to express an opinion. I then expressed my opinion that they wouldn’t be missed, as no one needs to announce their departure. No comments about their intellect, appearance or lack of reasoning ability were made.

I’m sure they appreciate you charging in to the rescue, but fairly sure they’ll be fine without your defense.

Amazing, the level of entitlement on both sides. Either you're a Sony fanboy for defending this or an XBot if you slam it.

The devs have a proven track record on an amazing game, and so I'll give them what they've requested for the PS5 Directors Cut upgrade. Ghost of Tsushima is just THAT GOOD a game, and I'm quite happy to throw a few extra bucks at them for the PS5 native experience. I've spent more for less quality/content before, at least I know these guys will deliver.

For anyone intensely butthurt about this...skip going out to eat once or twice, and you're golden as far as money. Or just ...don't upgrade. Or just do the PS4 upgrade. No one has a gun to your head REQUIRING you to take part.

Saints Row the Third’s PS5 version can read the PS4’s saves just fine.

If THEY can do it…anyone can.

Frankly, I bought this just so I could throw the devs some money and have a copy for my PS4/5 as well. Compromises, sure, but given…things…was there a better way to do it? If someone has one, I’m sure they’d be all ears.

There’s a physical version coming for PS4/5 and Switch that you can preorder at places like Target, etc.

They sorta did. First, they asked me to resubmit the info I just submitted. I wrote back and said the info I sent was right there and I’d already used that exact link.

Then another person responded and asked me to resend in a few days as they didn’t have codes yet.

THEN I responded again and asked them to just put me on a list and send the code when they got it.

The next day I had a code. Redeemed it and…nothing. No non-disc version in my account. I think because I already have a disc upgrade that their code won’t give me the non-disc download version. :/

So I think I screwed myself by doing the disc upgrade first! FYI the code definitely does not give you access to a PS4 download either.

@GamerDad66 Best Buy has it for $20. And a free steelbook. I pulled the trigger on it for that price, and won’t open it till the PS5 upgrade comes out.
