Definitely ready for their next game. Returnal is one of my all-time favorites. Felt like the closest thing to third-person Metroid we’re ever going to get. So much joy (and sweet, sweet pain) playing that game! You got this, Housemarque!

I bought a Pro in generation 4, but definitely not this time. Seems like this would be a bad look for Sony, too, given that 5s are just now becoming more available, and they’re selling so well. So many people finally upgrading to a 5, only for a Pro model to launch next year? I’m not sure I believe it… And if it does happen, no thanks, Sony.

Excellent review! I’ve been wondering about this game; glad to hear that it’s worth checking out. I really appreciate when games can tackle these challenging emotional themes while also employing a satisfying gameplay loop (e.g., Celeste, Omori). Adding to my wishlist! ☑️

I’ve let my PS Plus subscription expire last year, after purchasing 2 years worth when I bought my PS5 at launch, and I don’t miss it one bit. Like Sammy says, there is no time to play all those games! Yes, I have a huge backlog of physical games to play (unopened, even), but those games aren’t going to disappear when I stop paying for a subscription, so I can at least get to them eventually. At this point, I have zero interest in a subscription service. It will certainly work for some folks, and others, like me, can enjoy their one off purchases. There is definitely room for both!

I’m just so happy to see AC VI coming out finally. I was obsessed with those games in my teen years.
But it’s exciting that they have different teams working on different projects, and hopefully they’ll continue to experiment and push themselves, artistically speaking.

Looks absolutely amazing! God, I feel like I’ve been waiting for this game to come out for so long, can’t believe we’re finally getting a new Armored Core! Definitely spotted some cool new mecha designs in there too. The whole vibe of this trailer gives off some souls-atmosphere vibes as well. Even though they aren’t changing the AC formula, they’ve obviously learned a lot and grown from an artistic standpoint. August 25 can’t come soon enough!!!

Wo Long was fantastic, enjoyed every second of it

Game was ‘softly’ announced quite a while ago, so this wouldn’t surprise me at all. I’m sure From wants to keep their momentum going after the success of Elden Ring.

One of the best games of all time! Truly iconic characters and story, and an amazing (and sometimes terrifying) world to explore. 10/10 for me. 🏆

Still images of this game look super cool, like some retro art that a college art student whipped up in Blender. I’m sure the game sucks, but I love those colors!

Just to clarify, this game CANNOT be played solo without a PS+ subscription, correct? Because it’s “always online”?

It’s too bad that they didn’t include it in Legacy (I love that in-game characters complain about it lol), but this can only mean a stronger, more fully featured Quidditch game, right? Right?!

I get that recording voiceover work costs money because paying actors, but this is absolutely ridiculous. The DLC phenomenon has gotten WAY out of control IMO! LOL!

For $150 or less I would absolutely bite. I play my OLED Switch most these days (sorry Playstation), but only because I can play on my coach with the family during TV time. If this designated devise makes a game like Wo Long more playable with Remote Play (i.e., less lag, legit controllers), I’m sold.

I appreciate SE respecting our time and streamlining the world travel process. I loved the days of riding a chocobo/airship around a huge map, but that was when I was 14 and had all the time in the world. This sounds like a great compromise. Solid choice, SE!

If this is true, I find it to be ridiculous, considering how hard it’s been for people to get the base system, and also, considering that we’ve barely had any games that take full advantage of the system as it is already. I bought a pro in the fourth generation, absolutely will not be buying a pro this time around. Sorry, Sony.

All I would consider is a better device for Remote Play, that somehow cut the lag. Would love to play Wo Long on the coach while my lady watched TV 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Totheteeth Returnal is a fantastic game, loved every second of it. Have fun with Wo Long! That first boss is brutal, like people say; but it’s more accessible afterwards. You got this!

@Totheteeth you DEFINITELY should have more faith, Returnal is hard af! You can play Wo Long. It’s all about chipping away until you can deflect a critical blow. The combat is really addictive. Kind of like Returnal! Enjoy!

@NeonPizza I did leave the ray tracing on, so I’m sure turning it off might help. I’ll try it. I can be prone to motion sickness when gaming, and small frame drops and stuff can trigger it. But the game is amazing, really enjoying it ☑️

About halfway through the castle, voted a 9. Overall it’s a really strong remake, with fantastic graphics and improved gameplay. Would be a 10, but some minor performance issues bring it down for me. Highly recommended, though!

@Constable_What Lu Bu was indeed brutal. About 3 hours to beat over the course of a Saturday for me. After Lu Bu, it’s been a cakewalk. Looking forever to facing the apparently very hard final boss!

Very grateful to be able to compare equipment, that feature was badly needed. Thanks, Team Ninja! I hope nerfing the first boss helps keep more people playing. Such a fantastic game; definitely my game of the year for 2023 so far.

I still haven’t played the base game; steelbook has been sitting on my shelf since last summer. There are legit too many games 😅

Hyper Light Drifter X Bloodborne

I’m cautiously hopeful; take your time, Bloobs. They were onto something with the Medium, hopefully this will be the project to push them over the edge into greatness.

@ItsBritneyB_tch Same way you upgrade the other weapons. You can repair, and upgrade durability and power. The combat knife is a legit threat in this game when upgraded, and saves a lot of ammo!

Playing it and loving it! Took me a WHILE to get the options/controls (camera, DoF, etc.) right though, was experiencing a lot of motion sickness playing the first few hours. They need to add a “camera deceleration” slider please!

PS - the parrying is a total game changer! I’ve already fully upgraded my knife durability; absolutely essential in this version!

I’m ready for an adult, violent-as-hell, graphically mind-blowing Mega Man using REngine. Give me a totally new, reimagined version of this amazing and iconic IP.

This looks a bit boring, not gonna lie. Cookie-cutter Bloodborne ripoff. And the sound effects of hitting the enemies were wearing me out after 5 minutes.
Cautiously pessimistic!

The enemy design is fantastic in this game. Combat looks strong too. The only Metroid vibes I’m getting are from the environment, a bit Dread-style i.e., somewhat bland-looking 3d meh.
But yeah, looks solid!
