I’ll be buying this for my OLED Switch to play in portable mode, largely for this reason. After the price drops significantly, of course.

Really enjoyed the demo, but going to have to wait on this one. I’ll be too busy with Armored Core + back catalog. Hopefully a xmas break purchase!

@Mikey856 Let’s be honest, there are many, many Armored Core fans out there, who have been waiting for a new game in the series for years and years. Plus all of the new potential players garnered from FromSoftware’s recent success. It may not do Elden Ring level of sales, but let’s not count the game out quite yet.

Will be keeping an eye on reviews when this launches. Sounds like a step up in concept and quality, but performance issues in a souls-like is a BIG red flag. We shall see!

Glad to hear this turned out well. I don’t love the art direction on this one, but Deck13 is a solid AA developer. I truly enjoyed both of the Surge games. Hopefully they can patch up some of the technical issues and “jank” down the road.

@Korgon You will NOT be disappointed my friend. The customization in the Armored Core series is just as amazing as From’s more modern catalogue, and the action is equally intense and satisfying. It has a very different structure, i.e., missions (“sorties”), but is still FromSoftware through-and-through. I am SO ready for a modern Armored Core. I hope it sells well! 🤞🏼

Dang, the more I see the less excited I am... The Surge was so unique, but this is... kind of generic looking. Too much aerial combat, and the artistic design is kind of blech. I want to support Deck13, but this is pretty disappointing. Wake me up when The Surge 3 is ready!

I’m a big Deck13 fan, absolutely loved the two Surge games. I’m sure they needed a break from The Surge’s world, but I hope they go back to it after this game. I’d love to see The Surge combine these movement skills with the things that made Surge fantastic—a brutal sci-fi soulslike with part harvesting from enemy’s limbs. I’d love to see them take notes from Elden Ring and make a larger, interconnected world (with an actual map)—Surge 2 was REALLY starting to hit on something super special!

Atlas Fallen just feels too much like a generic fantasy world that we’ve already seen… It looks pretty, but it’s just not getting me excited.
I’m sure I’ll buy it though! I want to support Deck13!

@OrtadragoonX Right! Religion and existentialism. The whole idea of the Id was pretty mind blowing as a kid too. Just thinking about the story gives me goosebumps! And that’s not even getting into the amazing combat and world you get to explore.

Wo Long is my GOTY so far. Super fun combat that I just couldn’t put down. Dead Space Remake is a close second (although I need to finish it, because Wo Long). Resident Evil 4 Remake was great too, but by the island I became sick of shooting people…

@elvisfan1 It’s a very bleak series, with characters making horrible, ugly choices throughout. Not everyone is into that sort of stuff, I think… With valued characters dying, bleak stories about the degradation of humanity, etc. I just watched Infinity Pool with my lady (check it out!), and she HATED it, and I LOVED it. To each’s own, I suppose!

If they do make part III, I’m hoping for a focus on Lev, and maybe also Abby. I’m sure Ellie will be in there somewhere though… Either way, I’ll be excited if they make a part III. Part II was, for me personally, one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve had in my 38 years on this planet, in both story and gameplay.

@TJ81 Yep can’t grind away the hours like we used to when we were kids! I appreciate that some modern games have these custom difficulty options. Last of Us 2 did a fantastic job with that.

@khayl Great review! Question—playing on hard, was it more dying and restarting missions, trial and error type gameplay, or losing marines during missions and soldiering on and barely surviving? Or a mix? Thanks!

Honestly enjoyed this more then Nioh. The combat is so good. The game is just really FUN!
