Maybe I missed this somewhere in the article or the video, but can this game be played in single player in the campaign mode? Or is it always online co-op? Looks like a bloody good time!
I’d like to get this, especially given the extra work they’ve put in. I loved the Surge games and want to support Deck13, but this one just didn’t call out to me when it came out… Sounds like now is the right time to let my Atlas Fall!
The negativity around Bloober Team is growing tiresome. I thought The Medium was a solid game, and I’m excited to see them tackle Silent Hill. Let’s give them a chance, eh? I am hopeful that this will be their moment, and we’ll all have an amazing remake to play.
@Ainu20 @ralizah I agree, the first game is SO old and pretty archaic, would have made much more sense to start there. I tried playing it a few years back and it was ROUGH; put it down after a couple hours. SH2, on the other hand, is still very playable.
Honestly, I think the game still looks fantastic. All we really need is 60fps. The combat is so dependent on quick reflexes, it would be a gamechanger to play at 60. No remake, no remaster needed—just patch that framerate for PS5!
@BecauseBecause You might as well order from LRG if you really want it. They may take a little while, but you’ll be guaranteed a copy and at a FAIR price. Promise I don’t work for them lol, just encouraging your gaming collection habit 🤪
@HarmanSmith This game has been a huge inspiration to me, artistically. The visual imagery is so bizarre and beautiful. The vibe of the game is so obtuse and absurd, but also so intelligent. And the gameplay is so unique, challenging, and fun. An absolute masterpiece. Glad to see folks on here really appreciating this incredible game. Nice profile pic too! Clearly you’re a BIG fan!
@AhabSpampurse Yea! I sold my Gamecube once I got a Wii—only the early ones play Gamecube, right? Anyways I always wish I could use the pointer when I play it!!
FINALLY, Killer7 makes it back into the conversation!!! This game is Suda51’s masterpiece. Still have my Gamecube copy, but would buy a complete edition in a heartbeat!
Definitely interested, just haven’t pulled the trigger. I have so many games preordered that are not VR games, so it’s really about prioritizing time I guess, versus cost…ect. ect. Blargh, I still want one lol
@drventure69 Your assessment of buying a PSVR2 was super helpful 👍🏼 Venture Bros. is the GOAT!!
Thanks for the heads up, will def try the demo at some point. Secret of Mana is one of my all time favorites from my childhood, very curious if this game can recapture some of that magic.
Wow yeah that trailer is impressive. I dare say that this is what a turn-based souls-like looks like—those boss fights are classic From. Definitely one to keep on the radar.
Astro controller will be the first controller I buy, aside from the one that came with my launch console. Will probably keep it in the box until my pack-in one truly bites the dust. The touchpad has gotten wonky, but no stick drift yet (despite how many times I’ve dropped it)…
I keep flip-flopping on this, even after pre-ordering. Why does Astro Bot need to make baby sounds every time he does a move? That was a choice… Did he do that in the other games? Turns me off wanting to play the game tbh…
I want to see From do something to shake up the formula next time. I’d love to see them try a turn-based strategy game, and Armored Core seems like a logical answer to that. VI is a fantastic game though, and so glad it exists.
First Team Ninja game I’ve skipped in a while. The larger open world and all of the box-checking that likely entails has, I suppose, turned me off. I look forward to trying this demo, to see if the masterful Team Ninja combat can hook me anyways. Smart move on their part!
I teach elementary school, so summer is THE gaming moment for me bc we’re off for two months. I tend to hop around games a lot over the summer, and stick with whichever one hooks me. Currently playing Lords of the Fallen bc I snagged it on a good sale.
Looks like a fun time, “comfort food” as the author says. Apparently the devs called it a “soulslite” lol. Waiting on a sale for this one though. Still need to play the new Lords of the Fallen…
Just started playing this after finally receiving my physical edition, and wowza, what a game! The depth of choice in story and combat is just astounding. I wish I could freeze time and play this game for 1,000 hours. See ya never, real world. Baldur’s Gate III 🔥
Stellar Blade knocked me off Rebirth and I still haven’t gone back… Will be tough to top Stellar Blade for me for PS5 games in 2024; it’s just a really fun, stylish game that is hard to put down. Fantastic soundtrack too!
Shout out to Animal Well!!! Played on Switch OLED so can’t give it the PS5 vote, but WOW what a phenomenal game! So inventive and engaging, and amazing artistic direction!
Give me a gritty, avante garde film produced by A24 and directed by Robert Eggers. Keep it small and abstract, and focus on the storytelling potential of a silent protagonist. Yup.
But more casual players want to jump on the FromSoftware bandwagon for some very obvious and public reasons, NOT including difficulty, such as:
Iconic, masterclass art direction
Interesting lore
Twisted creature design
Deep RPG systems
The high level of challenge is definitely a barrier to enjoying this stuff. I love From’s games, and frankly respect Miyazaki’s vision of the game not being for everyone, but given the state of the bandwagon, casual gamers will continue griping until there’s an easy mode… 🤷🏻♂️
@IntrepidWombat Definitely upgrade the parry/dodge abilities first—that will help a lot. Take your time too, it’s not a game about rushing in to battle. Have fun! Such a fantastic game!
Back to FF7:Rebirth after finishing Stellar Blade. Also need to go back to Armored Core in a major way. Too many flippin games… Also currently enjoying Sea of Stars in my Switch-OLED.
So essentially a tower defense, action-adventure? Hmmm… 🤔 Not sure if I would enjoy this or not, but dang the game looks amazing and very unique. Waiting for reviews on this one…
@Mustoe Absolutely. I imagine that the problem lies in the amount of work required versus monetization. Would it be an upgrade? Would it be resold as a Remastered version only? It might be a hard sell for the casual crowd if it’s just a fixed frame rate and up-ressing. So yeah, I imagine this is the conversation that Sony has had (if they had one) which has resulted in nothing happening… Fingers crossed for a Bluepoint Remaster/make on PS6!
Bloodborne is still my favorite From game by a pretty wide margin, and I’ve played (and loved) all of their games. There’s so much magic in that game—the unique weapons, the AMAZING environmental storytelling and lore, the intense combat, The Old Hunters, the NPCs, the artistic direction… just, wow. It’s a fantastic game that really hooked me, despite its obvious imperfections.
All that said, I’m not sure that I need a sequel, but a PS5 remaster to get it running at a locked 60fps and upping the resolution would be VERY welcome indeed.
150+ hours in and never finished the game. Finally going back to tackle the crumbling sky temple (or whatever it’s called). Then Malenia, then finale. Holy cats, though… Forgot how tough From games are! Especially after Stellar Blade lol. Brutal, but awesome gameplay.
@thechetearly My vote is continue your first character. The game is absolutely massive and a huge time sink. You can always respec to switch it up!
@Nem We ABSOLUTELY need at bare minimum a port of Xenogears on current PlayStation consoles, if not a loving remaster. My personal favorite RPG of all time!
Elden Ring, in particular, has moments of being very obtuse. Despite my best efforts, I became quite stuck several times and had to look something up to make progress… then felt guilty and terrible! I think this is a big part of why I fell off the game after 150+ hours and didn’t finish it. Bought a beautiful guide, and have it sitting unopened on my shelf… Time to finish though! Shadow of the Ertree!
I just don’t remember that series being that good, based on what little memory I have if playing (and owning) them. But dinosaurs are always fun… So maybe a new game in the series? A reboot?
Over 140 hours played and never finished the damn game lol… but I can definitely jump into the Shadow of the Erdtree with my super-powered wizard God!!! 👽
My guess is that this will be a comprehensive remaster, and not a full remake. Something like Metroid Prime. I remember this game being pretty massive…
Meh whatever, looks great to me. Let’s see how reviews pan out. Not every game has to be the second coming of Jesus in the gameplay department. A simple, but fun, game can bring a lot of people joy, especially in the Star Wars universe. And ESPECIALLY because it is not focused on the Jedi for once!
