Wukong on my Pro until we leave to see the family, but bringing my Switch so finally jumping into Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, with a few sessions of the EXCELLENT Shogun Showdown
Anyone who’s played this know if the Pro patch is live yet? I bought this at launch to support the dev and haven’t gotten to it yet, hoping to jump in once the patch is confirmed
This will be a MONSTER hit!
I’ve played a bit of Monster Hunter, certainly not a huge fan, but dang does this look good.m every time I see footage. 60 fps and day one Pro patch is all I needed to hear!
Playing for the first time on a Pro with 120hz TV in performance mode, and the game plays super smooth, no input lag that I can detect, and looks fantastic. The balanced mode looks nice, but plays like stop-motion animation. So… performance all the way!
Hard pass on this one, but I appreciate what they’re trying to do here, in terms of taking the co-op experience to its logical conclusion. But this is clearly about the combat, and missing the exploration and mystery that I look to From to experience. I really hope that we get a new IP or something a bit more innovative for the next release. Elden Ring was great, but I’m ready for something new that’s not Souls 2.0.
My physical showing up tomorrow; perfect timing! I’ll be going for performance over graphics, so skipping the PSSR and hoping that the Pro delivers a solid >30fps framerate🤞🏼
Intergalactic, for sure, but that Ninja Gaiden game looks REAL GOOD! Project Robot is also clearly one to watch! And an Onimusha roboot. And an Okami sequel?! And Witcher 4… Exciting stuff!
YES!!!! Goosebumps!!! This looks amazing—exactly what I was hoping for—sci-fi! Awesome trailer; fantastic music, little easter eggs, and the setup for a great mystery. And Kumail! Just WOW! Cannot wait!
I would love an option to play with the original graphics. You can tell it’s lovingly done, but the remastered graphics look a bit cartoonty to me, and take away some of the grittiness, I think… Still glad it’s coming though!
Got my PlayStation as a youngster when it first came out. I have particularly fond memories of Resident Evil 1 & 2, Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Twisted Metal, Tekken… man I’m sure I could go on and on. What an absolutely AMAZING system! Seriously good times!
I hope the DLC is standalone, maybe playing as a different character entirely. That could allow them to try out some interesting new mechanics. Either way though, I’m gettin’ it! Loved Lies of P!
Wow more options… 😳 The sheer amount of choice in this game is awesome, but can also be really overwhelming. There were moments in my (unfinished) play through where I was able to say, “f*** it!” and just roll with something—like when two of my companions fought and I had to choose sides and then one was killed permanently! Other times, I felt so totally frozen and unable to continue playing because it was just all too much—and then, shocker, I stopped playing completely. Amazing game though!
I was lucky to have had a fantastic time with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch on my PS5. Despite some soft crashes and other issues, I really did have a blast, and found the game to be a pretty immersive role-playing experience. At some point I need to go back and play Phantom Liberty; sounds like the game is a much more polished experience these days!
I love it so far! But I also bought an LG B4 OLED TV with VRR on sale as well, to support Aaron’s point…
Games I’ve tried so far:
Stellar Blade ☑️ Looks and runs fantastic
FF7 Rebirth ☑️ Looks a LOT better and runs fantastic
RE2 Remake ☑️ Runs at 60fps with no dips in ray tracing mode, but that may be the VRR TV… hard to tell there
Waiting to play Alan Wake 2 to see if they further enhance performance mode, although it sounds like quality is beautiful if you can handle 30fps. I played quality for Silent Hill 2 before the Pro and it was just fine.
Ordered Spider-Man 2 and Last of Us Part 1 on sale from direct, so looking forward to trying those out.
With TV and console it was a lot of dough, but sold my OGPS5, some PS1 games, and my Astrobot controller on Ebay and that about paid for the console.
@UnlimitedSevens Understood the assignment indeed. A-f’ing-plus! Such an amazing remake. It seemed like an absolutely impossible task to remake, let alone improve upon, such an iconic horror game, but holy sh*t they did it. And yup, I sincerely hope they get contracted to remake the original and 3. They’ve got the assets ready to go!
Boy that’s really disappointing… Glad I went ahead and finished my first play through before I had the Pro. I feel kind of bad for Bloober, just when they were finally turning things around and riding high… Being more transparent about the challenges with fixing the issue might help. Anyways, I hope that they can work it out and people can go back to praising the game!
Disappointing, for sure. Bloober finally got their sh*t together and released a fantastic game, and now this…
I sincerely hope they’re able to rectify this with an updated patch, which we now know they’re working on. The game is utterly fantastic and deserves to shine on the Pro! They should talk to Shift Up, because that Pro patch is how it’s done! ☑️
Totally stupid. I’m sure it’s great, but Elden Ring has had its moment already, and DLC for game of the year? Nah... Personally I’d rather see Stellar Blade on there, or Silent Hill 2, or Echoes of Wisdom, or sh*t, how about some love for the incredible Animal Well ?!?!
Performance always looked like sh*t. Quality is VERY playable and solid, and looks gorgeous. But yeah… where tf is the Pro patch? I haven’t tried it on my Pro yet because I finished it right before I got it. Will have to check it out this weekend…
Finally set up my Pro today (w/disk drive) and it absolutely DOES NOT need a stand to orient vertically. Unless you have a pet or kid that may knock it over, this thing feels very secure as-is. I may get something down the road, but for now it is FINE! For anyone who was thinking of buying that overpriced stand Sony is selling—don’t!!!
So glad I bought an OLED B4 LG TV on sale before my pro arrived, seems like it is quite necessary to make the Pro shine. And damn, the TV makes a pretty big difference too! Highly recommended to anyone who can afford it and loves gaming.
These seem like fantastic updates. I agree that the combat became stale, largely because of how combat points work. I enjoyed the first 7-8 hours and then got bored (wasn’t crazy about the story or characters either). Will jump back into my Switch version eventually, hopefully with improved combat.
@JB_Whiting I might just finish this weekend on my base PS5, as I’m right at the end and the game plays pretty well on quality. Still waiting on my Pro from Amazon anyways… Will save the inevitable Pro patch for a second play through.
@JB_Whiting Bummed to hear Silent Hill 2 is having issues on the Pro. My question though, is have they actually updated it with a patch yet? I know all the other “Pro enhanced” games have had a patch released, and I don’t think SH2 has yet, to my knowledge… I wonder if they preemptively added the tag without having released the update yet? Hmmm…
Damn is that remake awesome though! Been a LONG time since a horror game has hit as hard as the Silent Hill 2 remake.
My limited edition sits unopened in a drawer to this day. Loved the first game, but just never got to it. But man, it sure sounds like that wait is about to pay off!
Great news! I am near the finish line of my first play through, but will be happy to play again on hard down the road (once my psyche has a chance to repair). Gotta see those other endings!
That’s a gnarly bug that you’d think would have been squashed by release. I’ll be getting this on Switch anyways, but definitely waiting for that NL review to roll in…
This looks fun! Callisto Protocol was not a perfect—or even a great—game, but the whole idea clearly still has potential. Will definitely check this out at some point.
Just got to Toluca Prison in Silent Hill 2, and wow… I forgot how oppressive this section of the game was. Bloober pulled out no stops here. Cheese and crackers…
