How could you put Horizon, Nier AND Toukiden on the same list. Have the former two on preorder (I've gone mad, what am I doing!?). I voted... Nier! Demo blew me away, at this point Horizon is still an unknown quantity but I know I will like it. And then Toukiden. It will have to wait, I think I will have enough of hunting big baddies for a while, I will cleanse myself with Gravity Rush 2 after these two games are finished in a few month's time. Then Toukiden, oh, forgot about Nioh... and Persona, also on preorder... aaaaargh!
Wow, so the abilities will come from the ring rather than the possession. This could lend itself to some cool mechanics, with Talion being his own man. Hype!
@get2sammyb How's the inventory management? This killed Witcher 3 for me, way too much faff and glitchy on top of that, so by the time they 'fixed' it I was put off for good.
@kyleforrester87 Same here, well, maybe except the bike. I think I will play through the Gravity Rush 2 demo, having played Nier's last night. Damn, how will I fit Horizon and Nier, I think I will just have to hold off buying the latter...
That's my willpower gone, which was slowly waning as I was reading more an more about the game, and I pre-ordered the game on Amazon, which sweetened the deal with the price for Prime members. I'm encouraged by the reviews and how it plays from the start (very little glitches) and will be done with FFXV's story by 1 March for sure. Wanted to play Nioh but can always get that later, this feels like a safer bet for me. Can't wait, the hype got the better of me!
But isn't the high setting locked at 30fps now? Or can this dip below 30, is the thing I am not quite following.
Edit: Ah, I see, that mode has frame pacing issues. Used it only for a few seconds and than changed to lite forever. I might hold off updating for as long as possible by letting the game run hibernated, like I do all the time.
I love the fact she's a female protagonist and the whole ethnic vibe to tribes and how people look is cool, too. Some diversity in game characters is always welcome and I think it's a nice juxtaposition against the machines.
Is Aloy and icon already? Not yet, give her time and then call her that.
More worried about the story expansion for end of March, I'm already in Altissia, so may need to slow down until then. But then I may never finish it if I don't keep the (story) momentum going...
In the neverending quest for gaming perfection and dissecting every little piece of everything that can be pulled apart, my only fear is that gamers who fall victim of this will miss the fun that there is to be had here. And it seems that there will be a lot.
If they have any sense in them, they will make Scorpio not powerful enough to prevent developers from developing games for both systems, but enough to make the PS4(Pro) versions seem inferior, their only logical stab at getting some gamers back at this point.
Yeah, this one was always going to be hard, and at this time of year. I am sad but then haven't bought it myself, but definitely am planning to. Price will drop by the time I'm ready as well, just too much stuff to play since Xmas and before!
As others, I went with PS4 Pro instead of VR. I'd had the latter on pre-order for a long time but cancelled as it became clear that the lineup was not my cup of tea. Still isn't. I will wait patiently and think increasingly that I might buy into the next generation and skip this one, if indeed there's a second iteration of the device. Another consideration is I haven't got time to finish FFXV properly, and other games on my TV, let alone something else on another device. Want Switch mainly for Xenoblades, but that might work due to the portability aspect.
It's episodic but what that probably means in practice is that a lot more assets needs to be created and planned for/developed for all 3 episodes upfront than working on a single one would take. I am fine with waiting, no shortage of games in a constant struggle for more game time.
The first installment was my number 1 game on Vita, loved the combat and everything else about it, so will definitely be picking this up after I am done with FFXV, which still requires a serious time investment from me.
For outrunning, I've discovered a stamina trick -> press L3 just as you run out of stamina (Noctis starts slowing down), it will instantly replenish the bar and allow him to continue sprinting.
Edit: I've played the pinball minigame for an hour last night, so addictive!
Edit 2: I think gamers have become really picky these days, and I can't blame them, we all want quality since we're dropping a lot of money for our games (and we're generally older and know better what we want). Having said that, I do think that blemishes make any game's shining parts shine even more as long as there's a decent balance between the two (and these niggles are sometimes 'niggles' - fully intended by the developers, just not always appreciated). I think the niggles here help appreciate more what does work and when it does it's fantastic.
Story-wise I am still in the early parts, however I keep discovering little hints of things to come like in the sea side I found a magazine lying around introducing all 6 gods and naming them! I think stuff like this is for those of us who remember the old days of jRPGs, which demanded you checking every nook and cranny for items etc. They've done it well here, but obviously the world is a lot bigger to comb through now!
I always assumed FFXIII trilogy was a safe bet. They infamously pulled pt.1 from PS Now (before I finished it, and I wasn't far from the end) and never put it back. This may prove nothing but nevertheless it's a perfect package to remaster with little effort. Not going into the whole argument of how awful vs amazing it is.
@SegaBlueSky Yep, received my box yesterday, it's gorgeous, but have no need for Noctis' figure so will try and sell it relatively cheaply on Ebay. The rest I will keep, looks amazing. I've received so many Black Friday orders that didn't have time to play yet!
@blakey78 That's the usual way FF handles these things, though - cars for one thing, chocobos for another, flying ship for another, mostly arbitrary (FFIX being the best example of having a flying chocobo and a flying ship(s) but not being able to land on all 'surfaces' with either).
OK, so what does 300k less actually mean? If a game sells millions but 300k less this is still good. If it sells 100k then yeah, another matter entirely.

@chiptoon That's what I thought as well. If I ever had a slither of a doubt in my preorder it is now gone.
