Loved this game on Vita, second best IMO only to P4 although hard to compare. I had sooo much fun with it, will pick up the remaster when it's on the cheap.
I bought it on sales for £13 but haven't started playing yet. I am looking forward to it, should keep my occupied until something else worthplaying comes along!
This is very encouraging. I'm playing Divnity now (still) and I love the fact that there is always something going on on the map, around pretty much around every single corner. It's the density of what you can do that keeps your interest going, not the map size. If they manage to get them positively big but balanced by stuff to do, I am in (even more than I was as I'm really keen to get this).
This list just goes to show how great 2016 and beyond is actually going to be; nothing on this list appeals to me personally, feels like all announced new games in existing franchises/new IPs have me covered for at least 2 years worth of gaming - and that's whilst being very selective. Who knows what else is in the works that I will inevitably add to my list.
They should care more about adoption levels, particularly early on with any new idea, be it PS2 games or PS Now. I appreciate things cost but you really need to get people to try these things on the cheap to develop new habits. I'd like to see what a PS2 game would look and play like on PS4 but with these prices and soo many games to play on PS4 I don't think I will get the chance.
I am thinking now that the primary way to deliver episodes like this is digital only with a full physical release once done. I bet that's how they'll do it...
I'm happy to wait years for an entire collection on one disc or whatever - there will be tons of games to play in the meantime and I would want to play this properly, from start to finish.
@DominicanGlory The orphanage part of the plot is actually pretty good if you realise that both Cid and Edea were pulling the strings all along to ensure that all of them meet. It was the experience of the orphanage that brought them together, not the other way around. The fact that writing wasn't the best to deliver this properly is another matter. That, and the whole amnesia thing due to holding GFs in parts of the brain... I however can forgive as it's still one of the best games ever for me.
@get2sammyb I was actually thinking that Zestiria's good position was due to poor sales overall (not that the game itself isn't good, I'm definitely going to pick it up). There's enough good games to play at the moment and everybody's waiting for good deals before Xmas.
What it needs is hype, which was missing for all the failed products mentioned. Gaming websites will create a special category for news and games for this, which will help cement its own separate identity, something other peripherals couldn't do. Everybody seems to be raving about the technology and there's so much competition out there already for something that hasn't even been launched properly yet that I think may get people really excited. Hype train is accelerating fast...
I think they set themselves up for fail. Giving AAA games 'away' (you pay subscription, of course) every month must be a big challenge, which is why they don't do it. The AAA is the expectation anyway. I think they should commit to a great game once a 2-3 months and indie/older ones every month.
For another handheld they need to differentiate themselves. New Vita could be built around backwards compatibility incl. Vita games, PSP and before, add PS3 (is it possible now? Should be!), PS Now, which is already on the Vita and it's a good start. Since PS4 doesn't do that very well, this could help it position itself on the market as it's own thing. Then there are the memory card prices, ridiculous and aggreviating, probably not what you want your crowd to feel when buying a system. Then get Android on the system, open it up a bit (follwing on from the memory cards disaster). That will never happen but then you have Xperia phones so why not get a slice of that cake aimed specifically at games, and it would be fairly easy to do. That way turn into a multimedia device with Skype, Netflix and whatnot. Of course you'd have to do market research if all of this would stick; and I haven't mentioned new software so you'd have to be serious about that - a few big exclusives; positioned as 'more of something different' than 'less of what we've already got elsewhere'.
Still FFXIII on PS Now. They took it down a couple of days after I started my monthly rental (sugesting HD version is in the works?), so I must finish it!
Hang on a minute, does this mean that the only difference between getting this and the regular box is the DLC that will be included in the price? It didn't need a GOTY edition for that, just a price drop on DLC. LAZY.
My favourite game in PS Vita, absolutely loved it... well, after P4G but not far off (so different games, so shouldn't really compare). Can't wait for this, it will be a day 1 buy.
FFXIII through PS Now - completely missed the whole PS3 era and am catching up, PS Now being a great platform to do just that. Tried on PS Vita and PS4, plays really, really well and am enjoying the story.
@get2sammyb I've played that last night for the first time, it was fun and indeed more tactical but a little bit more hectic 3v3 is more my thing. Yet to try 4v4, can't imagine now what that must be like!
Such an awesome game, don't remember having so much fun playing a game in a long time. Single player adventures just don't offer pure shots of clean fun delivered straight to your bloodstream like this one does (they obviously offer something else and I love them for that!). What is great is still being able to win against those more experienced players no matter your level. Can't wait to go back home and play some more, I may even buy a DLC to show support.
I'm personally ok with microtransactions for unimportant items like costumes etc. - I just don't buy them. It's the important ones I would be bothered by like expansions, which need to be half good to be even considered.
However, I've voted no because I rarely go back to finished titles. Heck, I hardly have enough time to play all the new games I want to play! One thing I know for sure is I will never pre-order a game or buy one at launch precisely for the reason it's become a service. You get better value for money if you buy later, bugs fixed, worlds expanded etc. The only thing you miss is getting hyped with the community of gamers at the same time, but again I'm lagging behind with so many games that it's a trade off worth making. Witcher is a good example, only now I consider it being playable again with storage issues solved. Games need to be fun and making them that way takes time if studios are experimenting or whatever. I am happy to wait for new games to not be so new but at least be assured I'll be getting a decent experience out of them worth paying (less) for.
I think the whole dodgy exit situation frames our minds to read latest developments in the Konami saga in a certain way. I definitely succumb to this myself but later think that if their goal was to unify the Konami brand then doing it consistently across makes perfect sense... well, unless you happen to have a legend amongst your ranks whose exit will mean bad PR for you!
I wonder how many gamers actually follow the news and to what extent this will indeed damage Konami's brand. If I had to take a guess, not a great deal.
■ Fixes an issue whereby encumbrance was not updating correctly, resulting in players being overburdened where in fact they were not.
This. I'm pretty sure this has been happening to me all the time and made me stop playing (generally speaking anything that improves inventory management will be welcome - thank you for stash!).
I think this fix is going to go a long way towards restoring my enjoyment from this game.
This is what Freedom Wars could've been, both titles share a vibe for me - hunting down mechs by destroying parts and fallen civilisation... I loved the former and will love this, no doubt.
@rjerj - couldn't agree more. As a massive FF fan I have to say that FF9 just didn't do it for me. Mind you, I've achieved everything in it there was to achieve, bar the complete collection of unique cards and the the best sword for Steiner. Came as a dissapointment after 7 and 8, then 10 was great again. Pacing in 9 I remember as being particularly bad. Can see why people love it, though.
Watched most of it only because I'm not really that interested in the game. I've played through MGS2 and MGS3 and felt that my enthusiasm for the format has waned a bit. However, I'm intrigued by how smooth the gameplay is, looks a lot more streamlined, not to mention how beautiful it looks. Open world mechanic is cool, too. I'll play through what I've got, get the prologue for free this month and then buy the game on a price drop.
There's a fine line between seeking that balance and being lazy. You may have good intentions but if the gameplay isn't up to scratch then 'lazy graphics' are that much harder to forgive. Unless there's a good art direction, I'm in agreement on that. Graphics are there to help deliver the vision and enable it to shine through; I do belive we will reach a point in time (soon) where graphics won't become much better and the battles will be fought elsewhere.
Backwards compatibility would work well in that scenario, right? I'd love it actually, not having had PS3 (jumped on the Wii train for a moment) I could play some games. Remasters will help with that but they won't remaster everything I wanted to play, PS Now may be part of the answer but we'll wait and see what they do with it. And no, I'm not going to buy PS3 just for that.
Why is it that when it comes to new pieces of hardware like this, developers suddenly forget how to make proper games and work on something like this...? Holiday, really?
The lower price point is only there to make the higher one look better and more appealing, but you can't fool a consumer who will still see what they're paying and what for. Which is too much.
@get2sammyb Maybe Push Square should be doing a feature: 'what games will be spoiled' alongside the feature of those, which will be 'announced'?
Spoiling obviously makes sense on many levels until it becomes an established practice; when someone will come up with a different way to advertise and set themselves apart that others will follow. That's the story of marketing, in a nutshell, but it does mean we have good few years of heavy spoiling ahead of us. The only good thing about it for me is finding out that something I'm looking forward to is in the works. The bad? The time you have to wait for the game to come out. The ugly? Sometimes things get spoiled early with best of intentions and then get cancelled.
I've played the demo all evening, not really progressed the main quest much, just explored (can't wait for Ramuh, though). I love it and think it's great, really love where they are going with this. Music is fantastic and I'm getting enough FF vibe from all of this, which is a big relief. Obviously battles are the biggest change but they managed to make it complex to make it interesting and yet simple enough to be enjoyable and effective. Can't wait for the actual game, even though it's probably a long time coming still...
Can't wait to get home and start playing this - I bought a new copy of FF Type-0 on the cheap recently and kept the demo untouched deliberately, knowing that this was coming.
