Makes sense that her character development is first about independence, then learning to accept help and friendship, and then a romantic relationship. I was cool with her being asexual though.
And having just finished the main dlc quest. i really wish there was a replay quest option.
Just started Burning Shores. Enjoying it. It’s beautiful. The story is beautiful. So far easily worth $20 but dang I need to play some smaller games this year. Zelda is up next. Gulp.
Oh and There are clearly some bugs to work out. Seyka got stuck/frozen at one point and I had to reset. Camera mode sometimes doesn’t let me move the camera.
I can’t imagine shelling out for a remote play only device — it just won’t be priced competitively with either Steam Deck or Switch or their Backbone One phone controller adapter. Imo make a PSP2 or don’t bother.
@naruball I think I made perfect sense. I personally don’t care if CoD is on Playstation and I wish Sony agreed with me. I didn’t say that was fiscally the best choice for them.
The implication in the article and the follow up in the comments all suggest that this Senator is corrupt. PushSquare, if you believe that just say it.
I don’t know her. I’d have to look at her voting record and all the conversations surrounding this topic rather than a single soundbite to have a real opinion on whether she has “been bought.”
That said, I wish Sony could just stop caring about losing Call of Duty.
Sylens was the best character in Horizon imo. I just finished HFW last night and his character has so much charisma and presence. Gah. This is a loss for us all.
Played Cold Steel 1-3, then started Sky. So planning to play the rest as: Sky 1, Sky 2, CS 4, Zero, Azure, Nayuta, Reverie. Phew! I love this series. It’s the Cosmere of gaming.
With Carmack leaving it’s pretty clear that Meta is going for a premium experience versus a cheaper more accessible one. That approach will limit who uses it.
VR and AR are interesting but they lack killer apps and the interaction model is too complex.
On AR: think the movie Her is probably the best depiction of an AR future where we converse with an AI using natural language which is close to the ChatGPT + AirPods tech that is already present.
On VR: I think people to-date have preferred just putting more screens everywhere (in cars, in pockets, tablets, on wrists, on fridges) than walking around with one strapped to our faces. I think games are driving some adoption here and there is a dedicated fanbase that is funding the tech year after year so maybe it will grow, but I am still not seeing the necessary tech to do it well which would need 8k microled screens and even more power efficient chipsets. VR needs a Nintendo Wii like moment.
I am most interested to see what Apple is going to bring to the table here but I suspect even if they have amazing hardware there still won’t be a killer app. Apple doesn’t really care about games and I am not going to pay $500-1000 for a personal AppleTV movie theater or an Apple Maps driving directions experience.
And oh Meta, I have no interest in your corporate virtual business meeting dystopia.
I think they will have to exclude using the big UE5 features like Lumen and Nanite to get the framerates they need for VR but this is still a good thing.
At this point MS is still just trying to make Gamepass awesome. The actual negative effects don’t come until later when the platform starts treating users like Netflix treats its users.
They are in too deep into existing FF7 lore. Remake’s storytelling — especially at the end — was clearly for those who knew FF7 in and out and would notice and appreciate deviations. I had to look stuff up. While I liked the game’s opening I found the final act confusing and not very enjoyable. I was a bit relieved when it was all over and I am not eager to go back. That said, I only played FF7 once 20 years ago and now I am much more likely to buy the original when it’s on sale for $8.
@claytortot213 agreed. I mean it could for a game, but a PS5 GPU is something like a 2080 Super, not a 3090 TI. It’s going to be amazing and for most people the easiest way to get high end VR.
I hope they add FreeSync support in a future update. HDMI 2.1 is still sparse. I bought a brand new 1440p Gsync/FreeSync HDMI 2.0 monitor and would love to hook a PS5 to it. At least they keep making it better so maybe one day it’ll happen.
@Sil_Am (1) Sony could sell it at a profit. (2) Also they can just expect that a large percentage of the user base would not do that but would stick to PS5. (3) The approach I describe would be similar to Sony’s current PC strategy and would help grow the userbase to achieve economies of scale. It’s like when Apple finally allowed Window users to use iTunes and use iPods without a Mac.
@naruball discretionary money is discretionary money. 🤷♂️
There are a lot of comments about how for the price people could buy a different platform like a Steam Deck, a Switch, XSX or Series S. That resonates.
I would get it if it worked on PCs as well. I think VR is still hobbyist tech and I don’t want to pay over $500 to be locked into one VR ecosystem. That said, hardware looks pretty awesome and I want to play it.
@ShogunRok I have two questions that are just curiosity (1) in the original PC release there was a stutter whenever you did an all-out attack. Is that present? And (2) what’s the resolution for the PS4 version?
Seems pretty simple. The games are running two different codebases similar to Minecraft Java vs Bedrock. And only one version is getting the update. The only real thing to fuss over is why did PS4 not get the new codebase. And the answer is probably money.
Finishing Lego Builder’s Journey. Playing Persona 5 Royal very slowly (third time playing the game, but first time on the Switch). On PS5 I am very focused on Horizon Forbidden West. It’s delightful. I am not finding the story as compelling as the first Horizon, but the characters, world, graphics, gameplay, and just overall experience are imo so much better. I am going to be playing this one for a while.
Also, I may be hallucinating but I swear the Ps4 version used to do custom music on the PS5 homescreen and now it just does the default game music. I hope they fix that back. The PS5 defaults are so boring — I want custom themes or devs step it up.
That said, this was a fantastic game and I need a sequel.
@Kidfunkadelic83 consider trying god mode. I don’t like roguelikes and I play most games in story/easy mode. Hades was a blast and god mode helped me get to the end.
When 3d cgi cartoons started being successful in the early 2000s Disney abandoned hand drawn animation for it. We learned later part of the reason for that was morale and talent retention: many of their people wanted to work on the new exciting trends in animation. I can imagine the devs being pretty excited to work with 2 year old hardware instead of 10 year old hardware and now is the perfect chance. Base game upgrade to PS5 is free, stock issues abating, PS5s are starting to show up in stores, this is just DLC, gives Guerilla and their Decima team a chance to work on a modern platform. Seems like a win for everyone.
I have played the Ps4 version on my PS5 for almost 300 hours. If I pay for it again, it would be for a mobile platform (Switch), a timeless platform (Steam), or both (Steam Deck).
Didn’t vote cause I didn’t see a match. I am not ready to buy at launch. I need to see more. Hardware looks pretty good. I would like PC support or more known exclusives.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores Up for Pre-Load Now on PS5
@Daleaf despite the game improving almost everything imo for me, HFW had issues with combat and its story. Maybe I just needed more Sylens.
I preordered the DLC and am hoping that a tighter smaller story will be just right for Aloy.
Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy 16 Is the Most Excited I've Been for the Series in Almost 20 Years
I want to be excited for it and I will be watching. Next FF game for me will be the PR of 6.
I found Trails of Cold Steel and Persona and those series have been keeping me busy.
