@NEStalgia Exactly, I can do so much more on PC with a 4090 than I would be able to do with the “walled garden” PS5 Pro. VR, mods, 120Hz on almost any game… With the Pro I am limited to Sony’s orchestration.
I’d wager that the Pro is one of the reasons they went with a detachable disc drive, so they could sell the machine without it. You can bet on that being the norm from PS6 onwards too.
Many people are complaining about the price, but remember, you don’t have to buy this model. The cheaper slim is available. This is in no way comparable to the PS3 situation where that was the only price available (in UK at least, £425, roughly 700 in today’s money)
Same way as you don’t have to buy a 4090; 4060, 4070 etc are available also.
I won’t buy the pro because for me it is too expensive for what it is, especially with the limited control you have over it. Happy with the normal PS5 for PlayStation games.
Not only do you have to pay £50 for the adapter, but all the unique features are unavailable on PC! I have another PC headset but may have purchased one of these if all the features were available (at least HDR and eye tracking)
@Kanji-Tatsumi You can go to the PS3 or vita store and buy Wild Arms for 3.99. Then the game will be available to download for free from the PS4/PS5 store. Sony is allowing previous classic purchases to carry over from the older stores. The fact these stores are still open means you can take advantage of the cheaper prices. I had Toy Story 2 & Resident Evil showing as “free” on PS5 because I own on PS3.
The irony is you could literally put a busted old 360 disc into an Xbox One/Series X and the game can fully work. So long as the small section of the disc containing the licence check info is damage free then the game will download and can be played, even if the rest of the disc is unreadable.
@Balosi 2 on PSP was basically a “greatest hits” of all tracks from 1-5 & the first PSP game. It had so much music and many tracks from all of the past games.
@Rob_230 Doubtful. The exploit was 4.03, many firmware updates have occurred since then. Sony would’ve been aware of the vulnerability and had it patched in one of the past updates. If this update was to do with the hack then it would be working with later firmwares all the way up to the most current prior to this one.
@Jey887 It’s not the TVs that are at fault here, it’s the PS4 and PS5 consoles themselves. Pretty much all TVs sold in the UK/EU are fully 50Hz compatible, so they can run 50Hz content natively (my LG C9 works fine with 50Hz content). Broadcast TV is still 50Hz after all. The consoles are only able to output 60Hz and this is what is causing the frame pacing issues. They should be able to offer an option to output 50Hz and this would solve the pacing issue, they could easily add this in a firmware update.
@Excess There can be no cease and desist if the game is reprogrammed using completely original code. The new code can be freely distributed. The only illegal area would be the assets that you’d need to get from the PS2 game. These would not be distributed with the new code, similarly to how the PC Mario 64 port worked.
@BearsAndBattles PS1 looks great on a 4K set if you use a scaler. I have mine hooked up to a retrotink 5x pro using RGB SCART, it looks fantastic at a 6x resolution scale, outputting 1440p to the TV.
@Orpheus79V I’m pretty sure they do have the MJ music, it’s just that you’ll have to pay for that music DLC if you want it. I’m guessing that’s how they’ll pay the royalties for the music. For new fans that don’t care/never played the original, they can sell the game without the music to avoid paying the royalties.
This is awful, limiting digital media like this is pointless. These will just be scalped. Why not release the whole game digitally and limit the physical, doesn’t make sense to only fully release a version with limited games. No wonder people resort to piracy.
So do Sonic 1 & 2 contain all of the extras that were present in the mobile versions? Or are they simple ports of the MD versions? Can you play widescreen and still have limited lives? Is the “music pack” required to get the correct music in ice cap/carnival night etc in sonic 3? And why no physical? I would’ve paid for a physical but not keen on paying so much for digital only
@Stocksy It would be great if someone from pushsquare could confirm, but I’m convinced that the scores must be final based on review copies of the game that are sent out, at least for an agreed period of time until after the game release date. This would also make sense from a publisher’s point of view, if a publication was free to change review scores then there would be no incentive to provide said publication with review copies. The idea is, especially in GT7’s case, is to garner as many positive reviews for metacritic as possible to generate maximum sales and interest, allowing the changes of scores would negatively impact this surely.
@Toypop I don’t think it’s possible for publications to nerf the review scores post-release. I’m sure conditions are given when review copies are sent out which state scores must be final.
If there was such a major issue with 1.07 then they should’ve rolled back to 1.06 to allow people to play whilst they fixed the issue. In reality they should’ve just kept all aspects of the single player separate from Sport mode, this way you could’ve saved offline.
@themightyant Facebook almost certainly sell the Quest at a loss. It’s incredible value when comparing it with competing headsets. I imagine PSVR2 will be more expensive, I’d guess £400 min.
@TurboTom I’ve used VRR since 2015 when I first got a GSync monitor for my PC. It makes a massive difference when the framerate is variable as it eliminates the stutter you get from miss timed frames if VSync is enabled, along with eliminating screen tearing if VSync is disabled. If a game is struggling to hit 60, running in the mid 50s, having VRR will essentially run your display in the mid 50s while those frames are being displayed. This you can really feel. VRR is one of the main selling points for me in a display.
I wouldn’t have a problem with this if they announced that upon end-of-life they would patch it to allow offline play/saving. Maybe in future you’ll want to play the game but can’t because servers have been deactivated. I can pop in GT5 now and play it offline but will I be able to do this with 7 in 2034?. The fact you’ll not know how long it will be before the game is unplayable doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t see the point of incorporating the single player into the multiplayer, just keep it all separate and we could save offline.
This report is inaccurate. If you read the blog post it only states that the specific features marked with an asterisk require an internet connection. Nowhere does it state the entire campaign mode requires a continuous connection.
@RBMango it only states that the features marked with an asterisk require an internet connection. They state the GT cafe (makes sense as it’s like a leaderboard in a way), scapes, some tracks that seem to feature advanced visuals streaming in what I assume is the PS4 version to get visuals closer to PS5 spec (like what MS do with flight sim on Xbox), and the livery editor. All those features are said to require internet but they don’t state that the core campaign mode requires it.
To everyone stating it’s a PS3 game, the rumours are that it’s being ported to the updated RAGE engine that was used in RDR2, which is definitely not a PS3 game.
@Dezzy70 But that’s why you read the manual and learn. Casuals are unlikely to even bother upgrading so it’s more than likely “hobbyists” that will be interested in this. You have to start somewhere and learning to install an nvme is a fair starting point. Also proprietary solutions are not consumer friendly from a price standpoint, you only need to look at the vita to understand that
Good, the games run better on PC and you have more control over them in regards to settings etc. I wish they’d release games on PC day one simultaneously, and Nintendo too, then could just own one unified gaming machine. Even if they just opened the PS store on PC, doesn’t have to be via steam etc, although that is the better option

Nice, got it free back when they gave it out and I have never gotten around to playing, so £10 to upgrade seems fair

Sadly this is the pathway that gaming is taking; subscription services where games are basically rented, and streaming. Certainly not for me.
