This is one month where there really is nothing that appeals to me. There are a few from previous months I've wanted to make more progress in so there's that.
Doki Doki is something I never would have bought otherwise but gave it a try, and I found it to be an interesting experience. Trying out oddball titles is why I subscribe.
If there is a situation where my PS5 dies, the Pro is on sale, and it's another 3+ years until the PS6, then it's a maybe. It's like Marvel movies-- the more they pumped out the less I cared until I stopped watching entirely.
Eh, they seem to be profitable overall. Flops happen. Lots of armchair business experts on the internet. When Astrobot releases people will be saying otherwise.
People seem upset that a publisher is porting a game to an older machine people still use. But also people are thrilled when an indie publisher makes a new NES cartridge. People be strange. I went into PS5 expecting mostly a PS4 pro pro, and am happy with it. I'm glad PS4 is still usable and relevant, because I gave mine to my daughter.
I don't understand the obsession with turning games into movies. Games look so good now, and have stories within them. Each game is a miniseries you play through. Going beyond that, you're trying to market to an audience that potentially doesn't have interest in gaming so you're starting from square one.
Fighting giant robot animals is cool within a video game context. As a show it's going to come across as Transformers-style cheesiness.
After Us was the one I had been interested in. Mid reviews discouraged me from actually buying it so I'm glad to give it a go. I like artsy floaty games like Journey. There's enough good stuff from the past few months I'm still working on so I'm content.
I'm happy with it. Played SoR4 on the old psnow and was wanting to play it again but not buy it outright! Also never played the original Sly Cooper so I'll give that a try.
Nice. Glad it's not PSVR2. I liked the first Astro Not, but never finished it because of the nausea. And hassle of setting up the VR. And wearing the VR. And the wires.
If I weren't so busy with Dave, Tunic, and Animal Well, I'd be pretty bummed about this month. I already had my fill of Cat Quest 2 for like $3 back on the PS4. Poopity woopity.
Sony makes the best AAA games, aside from Nintendo. If PC ports keep them doing their thing, I'm all for it. As disappointed as I am that Sony gave up on creative projects, indie devs have more than filled that gap. So PC players can help fund these big projects.
Awesome! Tunic is definitely the headliner for me. And Ghostrunner 2 is a rad looking game that I will try for a while. Hopefully there's an easy mode so I can make more progress than the first one.
Could use 360 degree aiming. But otherwise it's a lot of fun. Normally I don't enjoy games like this but there's enough adventure and quirky characters mixed in to keep me going. Rogue games usually bore me after half an hour.
I'll try it next year. I bet I'll enjoy it. Lack of sufficient difficulty settings have ruined many a game for me. So even if other aspects are average, that's a big plus.
I'm fine waiting a year or so for big games. It's understandable. What I would like to see is more good indie games in place of cookie cutter AAA games like Assassin's Creed.
I have lots of good feelings towards physical copies of games and movies. But I don't actually like the clutter, hassle, and cost. All the years of failed disc drives and easily scratched discs didn't help either.
I'm not sure how much momentum they can build charging for an online game that will then require a Plus subscription to play. But at any rate I'll be glad to try it out. I've been wanting a non-nintendo splatoon for a long time.

Re: 13 PS5, PS4 Games Set to Leave PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Month
I had my fun with Gigabash. Great "fun for a rental" type of game. Tinykin i bought like a week before it was announced for plus.

Re: 13 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now on PS5, PS4
5 games this month that I'm interested in. At $13, that's a great rental value.
Re: 13 More Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
Another great month for me! We got Little Nightmares 2 earlier, and now get Squire, and Mosquito! Curious about Sky Gunners too.
Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

Re: Hands On: Visions of Mana Is Far From Revolutionary, But It Should Still Be a Rock Solid Action RPG
The demo was nice. I liked the cozy seaside town. It seems to be a good comfort food type of game.
Re: Poll: What Are Your Summer Gaming Habits?
I'm busy in the summer so I play in tiny bites. Then I go nuts when winter starts and get bored of gaming by March. The cycle of life.
Re: New PS5 Games Release Dates in 2024
If Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on the list, then it's guaranteed!
Re: PS Plus Extra Loses Five More PS5, PS4 Games in August
Glad I got to try Trials. NFS Unbound was ok for a bit with the music off. And that's all I've got to say.
Re: Mini Review: Flock (PS5) - Hohokum Meets Pokémon in Relaxing Collect-'Em-Up
This sounds like my cup of chamomile.
Re: Talking Point: Was Sony Right to Resist Adding PS5 Exclusives to PS Plus Day One?
Yeah, Sony was right in the end. I was never really jealous of Game pass, as very few MS exclusives appeal to me.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024?
@Meowmixes98 I'll give Borderlands 3 a try since it's on there. But the previous games didn't really click with me so I'm guessing this won't either.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024 Announced
Dang... hopefully Extra isn't a July letdown.
Re: Anime Waifu Horse Racing Game Going Global Alongside PS4 Party Spin-Off
I'm very disappointed they didn't have hooves for hands. Automatic no buy. Nay to that purchase, I say! Nay!

Re: Many, Many More Major Xbox Games Are Being Plotted for PS5
@N1ghtW1ng well, after seeing the direction Sega went I wouldn't have been shocked.

Re: Poll: Will the Rumoured PlayStation Showcase Be Announced Soon?
@Th3solution hard to imagine Xbox gaining any ground any time soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 528
Tunic, Dave the Diver, and Animal Well. I sure do get my value out of Plus.
Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?
Sony makes the best AAA games, aside from Nintendo. If PC ports keep them doing their thing, I'm all for it. As disappointed as I am that Sony gave up on creative projects, indie devs have more than filled that gap. So PC players can help fund these big projects.
Re: Founders, Long-Time Employees Reportedly Say Xbox Now Effectively Microsoft Gaming
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk Sony going full hubris would actually push me to deal with the hassle of PC gaming.
Re: Gaming Subs Like PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Aren't Growing At All
Well I hope Extra sticks around because I enjoy it quite a bit. I like trying out lots of things.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Sea of Thieves on PS5?
Not my type of game. But I will try it if it comes to Plus.

Re: Talking Point: What's Next for Xbox Games on PS5, PS4?
Odd that Ori hasn't made it to PS at this point. Considering how old it is and how it went multi platform fairly soon.
Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers 2 in the Works, Say Multiple Sources
Looking forward to Frontiers 1 coming to Plus eventually.
Re: Latest Sony Patent Wants to Take the Grind Out of Games by Playing Them For You
I was hoping this would be something for getting through impossible parts of games.
Re: Dave the Diver (PS5) - PS Plus Gains an Inventive, Satisfying Adventure Overflowing with Ideas
Could use 360 degree aiming. But otherwise it's a lot of fun. Normally I don't enjoy games like this but there's enough adventure and quirky characters mixed in to keep me going. Rogue games usually bore me after half an hour.
Re: Huge PS Plus Clearout Confirmed for May, 25 Games Leaving
Yeppers. That's how game rentals go.
Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About the PS5 Pro?
There's less of an upgrade between consoles but now they're making twice as many. Just silly.
Re: Rise of the Ronin (PS5) - A Safe, Outdated Open World Game
I'll try it next year. I bet I'll enjoy it. Lack of sufficient difficulty settings have ruined many a game for me. So even if other aspects are average, that's a big plus.
Re: Surprise! Indie Platformer Penny's Big Breakaway Available Now on PS5
Odd that this one made it to PS before freedom planet 2.
Re: Little Devil Inside Finally Resurfaces with New Trailer, Kickstarter Update
Looks as charming as ever. Hopefully they don't overdo the difficulty level, as indie devs are wont to do.
Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Lose Another Seven Games Soon
@get2sammyb Tchia can be beat in like a week.
Re: Sony May Have Made the Right Call Not Copying Xbox Game Pass with PS Plus

Re: Poll: Which Xbox Franchises Would You Buy on PS5?
Ghostwire is already on PS. ??
Re: Sony Aggrieves Anime Fans by Erasing Digital Funimation Content in Crunchyroll Merger
@LifeGirl yep. While I like to avoid the hassles of PC, time will tell if Sony will drive me away from their ecosystem.
Re: Rumour: A New PlayStation Handheld Console Reportedly in the Works
Seems goofy to first make the Portal and then another handheld. But companies have done stranger things.
Re: Acclaimed Platformer Celeste Celebrates Sixth Anniversary with Free 3D Spin-Off
Neat. I assume there's no way to run it on android though. All my laptops are super weak, and non-windows.
Re: Soapbox: This Is Why Physical Games Are Still Important to Me
I have lots of good feelings towards physical copies of games and movies. But I don't actually like the clutter, hassle, and cost. All the years of failed disc drives and easily scratched discs didn't help either.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?
Yakuza 0 didn't click with me so I don't think the rest of the series will either.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?
@BookhouseBoy there seem to be people who say that sort of thing about every game. Accolades trailers mean nothing to me anymore.
Re: Foamstars Releases 6th February as a PS Plus Essential Game
I'm not sure how much momentum they can build charging for an online game that will then require a Plus subscription to play. But at any rate I'll be glad to try it out. I've been wanting a non-nintendo splatoon for a long time.
