While it's a great level(better than anything in Absolution) and I've been having fun with it, I'm actually really annoyed that they didn't release two levels this go round. The first pack had about that much content after all.
Went ahead and grabbed Max Payne, Dishonored, Resonance of Fate, and Okami HD. While I wasnt a big fan of Dishonored when it originally came out, I thought I'd give it another run to see if I felt any different about it. Seeing it for $15.99 was just too tempting, though the 'remastered' version is pretty shameful and an obvious cash grab. So $16 is just about the highest I think I'd be willing to pay to go through it again.
@get2sammyb I really think this is just a clever way for Sony to slide up on affordable 4K blue ray players. 4K blue ray players by themselves cost $400 so people would obviously choose this over that. Sony did the same thing with the PS2 and DVDs and the PS3 with blue ray. This is less about games and more about Sony getting a choke hold on the 4K blue ray player market, though it's obvious why they'd beef up the specs while they're at it.
I haven't played Demon Souls or DS1. As of now I'd say Bloodborne, but I'm loving DS3 and that may very well be it by the time I finish the game for the first time.
Even MS has come out and said that a half step, or PS4K/Xbox One.5, would be a bad idea. After MS pulling their horse out of this race I can't see Sony doing it.
Elder Scrolls is all I really care about from them so if they don't show it then that sucks. Though I really don't do to EO what they did to Fallout with 4.
I still doubt a PS4K is even going to happen, though the name is admittedly fantastic. I think all this stuff will end up going into the PS5 which I assume to come out in 2018/2019. One only needs to look at the New 3DS to see this is a bad idea. While I live mine, Nintendo really hasn't been pushing the system as hard as they could. And the 3DS is half as expensive as a new PS4 would be and people still aren't buying it. It would be silly for Sony to not just work on the PS5 and I can't see this happening.
@WARDIE For sure, one only need to look at the New 3DS sales figures to see this isn't a worthwhile endeavor. I'd agree that it really isn't pretty f'd how Sony treated the Vita. I'm really glad 3rd parties are still behind it, especially the Japanese ones.
But yeah, I don't think they'll actually do this as it would be beyond dumb. Instead of doing this they should either really beef up the PS5 so it'll be able to hang on much longer, or just go with 5ish year console cycles and while the consoles wouldn't be like 10ish years proof but they would be cheaper to account for the shorter generations. Imo, $350-400 for a 5-6 year life cycle isn't bad.
@WARDIE That's true, I was just going by a five year lifespan that a lot of consoles have had. I really think they need to ditch this whole PS4K thing and just concentrate on the 5. They've done so good this gen, but releasing a more powerful PS4 would seriously set them back quite a bit.
They should really just concentrate on the PS5. I think everyone has accepted that this gem won't be as long as the last one, so they should just work on getting the PS5 done for 2019/2020.
Hopefully one of these games is a genuine horror game. I was really excited for SOMA after loving Amnesia, but was really let down by the lack of scares. The story was really good though.
@RawShark I can totally understand that. I don't think anyone expects Uncharted 4 to be available on the IGC a month after launch, but if they do they're silly. The 'gamer-entitlement' argument is tired though, and frankly a joke. I'm not sure why it's only in gaming that sees people being called entitled for voicing what they see as a service/product not living up to what it was made out to be. I've never heard a movie goer be called entitled for complaining that that hot new release really was kind of garbage. But I suppose it's simply easy for some people to call those they disagree with entitled than actually having a conversation with them. Though that isn't at all contained within games and extends out to our entire culture for the time being.
@XurAgentofthe9 I'm more or less in the same boat. Though I usually play more games in single player than online, a combo of Rainbow Six Siege and The Division has seen me playing online quite a lot lately. I'd agree that the games are simply a bonus now that we have to pay to play online on PSN. That's why I think all the accusations that those who complain are 'entitled,' are laughable. Sony isn't some generous organization and these games aren't free. The fact that people think those who would like to see something other than pixel art and platformers are 'entitled' baffles me every time I see it.
@Quorthon You're right, when people pay money for a service and aren't satisfied they should just shut up, quit acting so entitled, and take whatever they're given no matter how garbage it is.
I've stopped hoping for such-and-such game to come to the IGC. If you don't get your hopes up you won't be disappointed and at the very best you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I'm confused as to why they would even need to beta test this? Though I suppose if it means to releases on consoles with no problems it's worth it. This would actually encourage me to go back and finish the game.
I've been really loving this game so far. I totally agree, the side stuff is beyond boring and Massive really needs to implement some new stuff asap. They also really need to fix the Dark Zone as right now going rogue is just too punishing for it to be worth it to anyone. I've been enjoying the endgame loop, though they also need to fix how many Phoenix credits are dropped by bosses.
@SonyInfinity I can see that being the case. I could also imagine them talking about it as the PS4.5, but I think that's more in response to what Microsoft has been saying. I think Sony would wait to see what MS does and goes from there. But there's really no chance of that happening. I can see why people would be cool with this kind of thing, but it's just not feasible for a company trying to make a profit. What Sony and MS need to do is blow this gen out of the water and then release the PS5 and Xbox2 in 2-3 years. 4K gaming likely won't hugely catch on for the next few years anyway so I see no reason for either of them to rush out a 4K capable system, at least until the TVs get cheaper.
@SonyInfinity Indeed, the average consumer would likely just stick with the original PS4 and it would only confuse those who haven't purchased one. While I do like my New 3DS, I can totally see that for most people it's utterly pointless. That's how people will see the new PS4 model. And yes, while I'm sure there are some trustworthy people at kotaku, kotaku as a whole is garbage.
This sucks, my PS4 came with the camera bundled so I don't need another one. Though I suppose I would need some PS Move controllers, but I'd rather just grab them separately for cheap. And if PSVR takes off retailers will likely start stocking them again so it won't be hard to find them. Either way, I'll be waiting until the release a version that only has the headset.
@get2sammyb Do third party headphones fit comfortably with the headset? I have a pair of Astros that I'd much rather use than the(likely) cheap ones that come with the headset.
@rjejr To be fair the New 3DS has sold pretty badly.
This isn't going to happen though, and if it did it would crash and burn. Steam machines failed for this exact reason. Too many options will only confuse people who know nothing about games, and Sony wouldn't make much, if any, money from the people who know what's what. They just need to concentrate on the PS5 and drop that in 2-3 years.
I only made it through the tutorial/intro stuff last night before falling asleep, but I really liked how it was all starting up and I really like the graphical upgrade for this one along with the silky smooth frame rate. I'm really looking forward to getting into this one over the next few weeks.
P.S. The Enless Summer Edition is really nice and I was really happy with all the goodies it came with.
@Pinkman I'm not sure Gear is comparable to the other headsets.
I'm too down for this though. I can see them doing like a pack of these where you can go to each of the terrestrial planets and maybe the bigger moons of the gas giants. At the very least I'd like to see one where you go to Mars.
@ShogunRok Ahh I see, yeah I barely scratched the surface of DW8: Empires. I really need to get back into it but The Division has been sucking quite a bit of my time away. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I'll most certainly be grabbing this sooner rather than later.
I'll likely wait a bit to pick this up, and maybe wait for it go to go sale. I absolutely love the combat in Samurai Warriors, but I still have hardly touched Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires. Glad to see its a solid game though, I'll definitely be picking this up at one point or another.
Edit: @ShogunRok Are all the officers from 4-II in this game? Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires didn't have nearly all of the officers from the main game from what I could tell. Of course I only spent two-ish hours playing so it could be possible to unlock them throughout gameplay and I just didn't get that far.
I'm on the fence about jumping in early or simply waiting for the disc. I'd prefer to wait for the disc because I prefer physical versions of games I love(I'm a huge Hitman fan) and I'd rather be able to play through the game at my own pace. But I'd also like to send the message that I'll be supporting this game in an effort to ensure it actually gets finished. Plus, I got a LOT of time out of Ground Zeroes, so I'm sure I'd be spending a lot of time messing around in this.
@SonyInfinity I think what's the make or break for a lot of people are the bullet sponge enemies. Personally, I don't have a problem with it because it's an RPG and that kinda stuff is just par for the course. I've had a really good time with it though. So I'd recommend taking the plunge if you like: RPGs, loot, cover shooting, and online games.
This is why I can't stand these kind of DLC deals, no matter who does it. I can understand the point, but I'd rather the money go into creating interesting exclusives that would actually drive console sales. I think that's why this is a relatively weak deal for MS. The shear amount of PS4s vs Ones means that MS would have to dump tons of cash onto Ubisoft to make it worthwhile.
I was hoping my copy would get here a day early like Megadimesnion Neptunia VII did, alas, no such luck. Oh well, I've gotten back into MGSV pretty hard lately and have been trying to S rank everything. Siege and IA/VT Colorful have also been keeping me busy as ever.
I think another big part of it is the cost of games. While movies are usually more expensive on a dollar per hour basis, full priced games are $60 a pop. I know that I feel that if I've dropped $60 on a game I feel that I have to finish it even if it turns out I don't enjoy it as much as I thought I would have.
Regardless, I've been feeling this way a lot lately. I've been buying more games than I've been finishing, and I feel that I really need to knock some of them out before it gets worse.
While this did make me feel a bit better about the game, I just can't believe it's going to work the way everyone thinks it will. I know I've said this plenty of times, but it takes supercomputers to model universes and I just can't believe they pulled some voodoo magic to make it work on a PS4.
As a space-nut I'm hoping that they'll somehow have pulled it off, and I'll certainly be keeping my eye on it. But I'll just be keeping my expectations in check, unlike most people seem to be doing.
It certainly looks nice, though it seems the PC version is the better one if what @SteveButler2210 said is true.
I'd be down to get this if I wasn't so unsure about this game. I'll be waiting until plenty of video reviews come out before I decide to pick it up or not.
If you want to upgrade tech you might as well just go with a PC. This would be extremely niche in comparison to the core of people who buy consoles. Sure some would be willing to upgrade, but that vast majority wouldn't. At that point, what's the point in it? It won't make the company enough money to make it worthwhile.
Hahahaha, really? I was on the fence about this as theirs no way its really the size of the universe and its obviously just a hype machine. But this is a joke. I'll wait and pick it up on sale and if it comes VR compatible I may grab it for $30. They likely would have made more money charging $20-30, as it would've been an impulse buy. But now it will be competing with juggernauts like CoD, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dishonored 2, etc. This must be a joke as its just too funny.
My collectors edition should be arriving tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited. I really enjoyed the demo on JP PSN and am looking quite forward to where it goes.
I'm glad to see Siege hanging on, it's a fantastic game and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes multiplayer shooters. I've also been loving Primal, much to my surprise, it's a really fun game with some gorgeous visuals.
@adf86 @Valedrel Oh god, not the entitled gamer argument. I wouldn't call it entitlement for people to complain about a PAID service. That's a fundamental part of markets after all.
@Tasuki Or it's not. Why would anyone expect something for nothing? It's a paid service after all. But it's quite obvious that Sony is resting on their laurels after winning this gen. People feel they aren't getting their money's worth and that's perfectly valid. Not everyone likes 2D pixelated side scrollers
@Octane Because people paid money and don't feel like they're getting their money's worth. Also it's pretty obvious Sony is resting on its laurels.
In regard to the article, I thought it was funny and on point. It's pretty crazy how Sony fanboys will come out of the woodwork to attack them whenever someone isn't excited about another set of side scrollers. Honestly I didnt even know what the games were for this month as a simply don't care. It'll be another month of me claiming all of them and, other than one or two, not downloading most of them.
While I'd agree that the DS4 has a pretty bad battery life, I sit at my computer desk, which is right next to my TV and consoles, when gaming so the length of the stock charging cable is perfect for my purposes.
@Dodoo I agree, neither one of the story arcs had any pay off for me. I had gotten romantic with D so I was really hoping to see something happen with that. And the mystery just crashed and burned at the end. Though I've seen people who like how down to earth it is.
I found the performance to be pretty unforgivable though, it really hurt my enjoyment of the game.
Fallout 4 winning goty is a joke, especially when sitting next to the Witcher 3, and Divinity Original Sin didn't even make the ballot which is a joke. Looking over these it keeps reinforcing how laughable these all are. Starwars is trash except for graphics and sound. Those handheld games are probably the biggest jokes of all, I wouldn't really even consider Helldivers a handheld game to begin with. Some fantastic games came out for the Vita and 3DS last year and to see none of them on the ballot is stunning.
Not that these awards really matter, but it's just kind of funny.
My game of the year would probably be Rainbow Six Siege.
Action Game would be Bloodborne.
RPG is the Witcher 3
JRPG is Tales of Zesteria
Family game is Splatoon
Handheld game is Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold or IA/VT Colorful.
@ShogunRok @ShogunRok Sure I can understand that, and it's not like ones opinion can be right or wrong. I just see it as being a similar situation to me playing Fallout and thinking it would be better not set in a nuclear wasteland.

But yeah, I don't think they'll actually do this as it would be beyond dumb.
Re: Titanfall 2 Is Starting to Pop Up in Shops
I suppose NeoGaf is useful for something after all.
Hopefully this'll skip over the PS3 and 360 so the devs can concentrate on making the PS4, One, and PC version great.
Re: Review: The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition (PS4)
My collectors edition should be arriving tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited. I really enjoyed the demo on JP PSN and am looking quite forward to where it goes.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Far Cry Primal Shows Its Teeth to Plants vs. Zombies
I'm glad to see Siege hanging on, it's a fantastic game and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes multiplayer shooters. I've also been loving Primal, much to my surprise, it's a really fun game with some gorgeous visuals.
Re: PS4 Fans Are So Mad at PlayStation Plus They're Making Parodies
Re: Senran Kagura Estival Versus Finally Jiggles onto PS4, Vita Next Month
@Gamer83 Preach.
I'll be picking up Endless Summer Edition for the PS4. I'm playing back through Shinovi Versus in preparation. :3
Re: Hardware Review: How to Extend Your PS4 Controller's Battery Life
While I'd agree that the DS4 has a pretty bad battery life, I sit at my computer desk, which is right next to my TV and consoles, when gaming so the length of the stock charging cable is perfect for my purposes.
I feel for anyone gaming from a couch though.
Re: Firewatch Patch Improves Shoddy PS4 Performance
@Dodoo I agree, neither one of the story arcs had any pay off for me. I had gotten romantic with D so I was really hoping to see something happen with that. And the mystery just crashed and burned at the end. Though I've seen people who like how down to earth it is.
I found the performance to be pretty unforgivable though, it really hurt my enjoyment of the game.
Re: Er, Fallout 4 Won Game of the Year at the DICE Awards 2016
And I'm way too lazy to go through the rest.
Re: Hideo Kojima's PS4 Exclusive Will Be a 'Big Scale' Game
@themcnoisy Quite Mountains =/= Silent Hills
Re: Review: Megadimension Neptunia VII (PS4)
@ShogunRok @ShogunRok Sure I can understand that, and it's not like ones opinion can be right or wrong. I just see it as being a similar situation to me playing Fallout and thinking it would be better not set in a nuclear wasteland.
